PS6 Camera Raw issue

Hello! I have a Canon 7D and some of my Raw files work flawless but sometimes when trying to open a select amount of them in CS6 I get the following error:
Could not complete the command because the file appears to be from a camera model which is not supported by the installed version of Camera Raw.
Please visit the Camera Raw help documentation for additional information.
I'm not very familiar with Photoshop Camera Raw's installation if someone could please help me! My Photoshop CS6 is up to date and I installed the Adobe DNG Converter for my Mac along with Camera Raw 7.
What am I missing to make half of my images not available in Camera Raw????

  • Camera raw issues - RAM problem?

    Hi
Im using Photoshop 6 with when using ACR i find that the ability too zoom in and out in camera raw disappears if i apply any noise reduction (ie: luminance amount above 0). When this happens i also get "stuttering" when moving the image around in the window, with the bottom or top section of the image remainingand being replicated above or below while the middle of the moves.
Often i process a RAw image and it opens as a TIFF in photoshop and all seems fine, then if go back to ACR and try and process another RAW i find that the ACR page opens minus the image. In other words the ACR page is visible but the window where the image should be shows PS underneath. The only way to clear this is to close PS and reopen the program and the RAW file. I often get an error message when i try converting a RAW file to a developed tiff that says "not enough RAM".
My PC has 4GB of RAM and in the photoshop preferences (performance) the "ideal range" on my PC is around 900 - 1150MB. Is my PC too dated to run PS & ACR and do you think the issues ive explained are all to do with the limited RAM?

I am seeing this problem too. I have a similar specd PC to mjones1978 above : core i7 860, ATI Radeon HD4350, 32bit win 7 pro, 4GB RAM (2.96GB usable). I am opening RAW files from Mini Bridge to Camera Raw and I can get 2 sequential images loaded processed and then imported to PS6 as 16 bit saved and closed with no problem. I come to the 3rd RAW file, and as soon as it opens in Camera Raw, there is no working preview. When this happens, even if I just hit 'Open' to open it in PS6, it wont open. I can change the sliders in Camera Raw or clsoe file but nothing else.
The only way I can get around this is to completely close PS6/CR/BR down and re-open again.
I suspect that it may be something to do with memory and I have done a system monitor to see what's going on -
    Available
    RAM
    Memory
    1.8GB     - I have a few programes open before PS6
    1.65GB   - PS+mini BR open
    1.28GB   - PS+MBr+CR open
1.07GB   - PS+MBr+16BIT image file open in PS
1.07GB   - 16 BIT image file closed but PS and MB open
    0.74GB   - PS+MBr+CR file open
    0.98GB   - File Closed
0.77GB   - PS+MBr+CR file open { CR preview disappears and file is not openable in PS from CR)
Now it would appear that PS6 is hanging onto 1.65GB-0.98GB = 0.67GB of RAM memory that it never coughs up again. which on a 4GB 32 bit system is a sizable chunk.
I have tried playing around with giving PS6 more memory in preferences, purging PS6 cache (there is never anything highlighted to purge other than video cache after a file is closed), and also tried giving CR 10GB of cache disk space.
    None of these options work.
For now it just leaves me closing PS6 all the time and then reopening every 2 images which is a bit frustrating.
This happens more suddenly with big (42MB) RAW files, but smaller ones (20MB) create the same problem too, but I maybe get a few more files processed before it does..
Very frustrating. I don't think PS6+CR is optimised for 32 bit windows system, but I don't see why it wont work given I still see 0.74GB of free RAM at the very least. Maybe its Camera Raw that has the issue rather than PS6?

  • Bridge NEF view  - selected image altered - Camera Raw issue?

I use a Nikon D700  and CS3 Bridge on a MAC OSX 10.4.11, and when browsing NEF images in Bridge there is an action performed on the image whenever I click on it. I use the settings where a filmstrip is along the bottom and upon selection a larger image appears above. Initially the image appears as I recall exposing it and looks balanced with good saturation, but after selection the image brightens and loses saturation after a few moments. When I open the image in Camera Raw I find that the Brightness is set at +50 and the contrast is set at +25, and the Blacks slider is set at 5. When I reset those parameters to zero I do not recover the look of the image as it was before selection in the bridge window. In order to do that I have to raise the saturation, decrease the brightness and do a fair amount of work to get back to the way the image appeared in Bridge prior to selection. Can anyone tell me what is happening to the image in bridge and how to keep the image from changing after I select it, or at least how to find the settings that have been evidently applied to the image?  If I right click on the thumbnail first, I find that the image will open in camera raw without any changes being made in Bridge, so I was able to make jpegs that show the difference between the two images. The first image is as it appears before selcting the thumbnail, and the second is the image in camera raw. If I were to have selected the image normally with a left click in Bridge, the photo as you see it in camera raw would have appeared in bridge and not been recoverable to its earlier state. Can someone help me undertand what is happening here? How can I find out what Bridge or Camera Raw is doing to the images and retain the appearance as it first appears in Bridge? Thank you for your help.

    This is a common question.
What you see first in Bridge is actually a JPG which the camera has embedded in the NEF, and uses all the camera's color settings (contrast, saturation, etc.).  Once you select the NEF, ACR (Adobe Camera Raw) attempts to render its own preview of the NEF.  Because ACR does not understand the camera's color settings, it gives you its default rendering, which usually is somewhat different than the camera's.
In newer versions of ACR (5.x), Adobe has profiles which mimic the camera's presets ('Standard', 'Vivid', etc.) and can be applied automatically in Bridge.  Unfortunately, you will need CS4 for this version of ACR (and these profiles have some issues of their own, e.g. http://forums.adobe.com/thread/479960?tstart=0).  You can also create your own ACR presets to more or less emulate a particular look (I believe you will need CS4 for this as well).

  • Bridge CS5 XMP/Camera Raw issues

I was using Bridge normally to browse photos / pdf's ect. Suddenly, almost „out of the blue” it stopped to store any settings and changes I made to photos.
For example: I open Bridge, double click on photo (RAW format), camera raw opens, and then I make some adjustments. Click „Done”. Camera raw closes. Normally preview of that photo was updated and settings stored in the XMP file. Now all this is just not working: I can make any adjustment but when I click „done” it closes the Camera raw without saving changes. Purging cache does not work. Open file directly from Photoshop does not work. I checked access permission to particular folder and photo and they are ok. Did somebody have same problem?  Any help will be appreciated. Thank You.

Several thoughts.  First check to see if the image has not changed to read only.  Open Windows Explorer for this.  Sometimes computer changes this without any input.
Have you changed to an external drive where permisson could be an issue?
Check the HD where cache is and make sure you have free space.  Should have 20% free.  So if you have a 500 gig drive you should have 100 gigs free.
If this all checks out then I would reset preferences by holding down Ctrl key and start Bridge.  You should get a reset window with 3 options.

  • Camera RAW issues with Canon T4i

I have many, many cameras and have used Photoshop and Bridge for years.  Even though the latest updates for Camera RAW says it can handle the T4i, I tried opening these files on two separate computers, both running Win 7 64 bit, and my having Photoshop Extended 5+ 64 bit on both computers.
I tried reformatting the camera card, wanting to eliminate that as a possible problem, and the same problem exists.
Camera RAW will recognize all of my other cameras, the D Mark III, T3i, Nikon D2x, D3, D3X, so on and so forth, but not the T4i.
I stopped short of doing an image restore on that machine, thinking my installation of Photoshop must have been corrupted when I removed Elements and Preimere Elements, but no...I'm now on an IBM W701 with the same software and I have the same probem.
If someone from Adobe would like me to send them a file from the T4i, I will.  If I shoot in jpeg, there are no issues.  But I do not shoot in jpeg.  I only did it to see if perhaps it were the SD card.
    Any help would be appreciated.

With Photoshop CS5 (I think that's what you said) you no longer have access to the latest updates for Camera Raw.
Photoshop CS5 can only take up to Camera Raw 6.7 (latest version is 7.1, which goes with Photoshop CS6 only).
You'll either need to upgrade to Photoshop CS6 or download the free DNG converter and go through the extra step of converting your T4i images to DNG before opening them in Camera Raw 6.7.
You can see what versions of Camera Raw support what cameras here:

  • Photoshop Lightroom Camera Raw Issues

I just purchased Lightroom 5 (not the CC version, I bought mine through Amazon).  I was editing a photo in Lightroom and wanted to open it in Photoshop.  A message said that Camera Raw 8.2 was required and when the photo opened in PS some of the LR editing wasn't there.  So I tried to install the most current Camera Raw (8.7) and my Mac says it's installed, but Photoshop still indicates that the older plugin is there and my issues with Lightroom Photoshop compatibility continue.  I use PS 5.  How can I solve this problem??  I've closed and reopened everything.

"Photoshop 5 doesn't even have ACR."
Well that's odd because the Camera plugin I have says Adobe Photoshop Camera Raw 6.7.  Regardless, I suspected it was because of my PS 5.  Is there no way I can upgrade to PS 6 without going to CC?  Because I think it's pretty ****** to stop selling the software and make Adobe customers pay an ongoing fee.

  • Camera Raw issue

I have been unable to edit my pictures in Camera Raw on Bridge. When I try to use this I get this message: " Camera Raw editing requires that a qualifying product has been launched at least once to enable this feature".  I am unclear on what this means.  I have updated both Bridge and Photoshop and this did not work.  I really need to use this to get these portraits to my customer. Any idea on how to get Camera Raw to work?
    Thank you

You need to provide more details. What version of PS/ Bridge? What version of ACR? What images? What system?

  • PSE 8 Camera Raw issues

I have Photoshop Elements 8 and I just recently started shooting in RAW, but when I try to download the files in Bridge (I have a Mac), the thumbnails don't show up.  I went ahead and tried to download the files, even though I couldn't see what they were, but they just showed up as blank white files and Camera Raw won't open.  I just did the update for Camera Raw 6.2 and restarted Bridge and PSE.  Is there another update I am unaware of, or is there another suggestion I should try?  I also read online to clear the cache, which I did, but nothing happened.

According to the Readme files for Camera Raw, ACR 6.6 is the last version that is compatible with Photoshop Elements 8.  What camera are you using?  You should check the compatibility list for ACR 6.6 to ensure that your camera is supported in that version.  If it isn't then you can download the latest DNG converter, 7.1, and convert your files to DNG.  Then you should be able to open those with your version of Photoshop Elements.

  • Camera RAW issues

I have read through the RAW posts in these forums, and have followed the directions, but am still having issues. I am
using Photoshop CS3. I have gotten the latest RAW plugin and manually installed the file according to directions
    on here.
When I open up my Pentax RAW image, the RAW editor opens up instantly, and allows me to make whatever changes I like. The problem is, once I click "Open Image", Photoshop hangs for about 3 minutes before opening up the picture. Eventually, it does open up the image, and allows me to make whatever manipulations I need to.
I have a new Dell XPS, with 6gb of RAM and a 1gb ATI video card. I don't think Photoshop should freeze while loading these issues. When I am working with hundreds of photos, that 3-minute hangtime adds up.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

Wow! This worked! I did a very intense bit of troubleshooting,
but never would have made the connection of going to the network printers.
    Thank you very much!

  • Open in Camera Raw issues...

Have photoshop elements 12 just installed it last month. In the beginning it opened the raw files from my nikon, but now it no longer will. No updates need to be done. Using windows 7.

Do you get any error messages?  Perhaps resetting the editor to its default settings might do the trick.
    to do this, go to:
    Edit >> Preferences >> General
and then see something like this (you will need to click on this image to enlarge it):

  • Bridge or camera RAW - not enough memory to run Nikon D800 large 50 MB files  Any suggestions?

Does any one have the same problem trying to work with Nikon D800 large files (50MB !) and Camera RAW ??
Even with one image opend when I click Done I get a message Bridge is low on memory - Restart.   Also the tumbnails preview  and full scree becomes blank!
    I have CS5 / Camera RAW 5.7  Computer Windows XP  4 G Memory
Is it a Bridge issue or Camera RAW issue?    Any proven solution?
    Thanks
    Dov

    I have CS5 / Camera RAW 5.7  Computer Windows XP  4 G Memory
Could you provide more details about your configuration?
This info can't be right, CS5 comes with ACR 6.7 and Windows XP needs at least servicepack 3 to my knowledge.
4 GB RAM might be sufficient but is not much, do you have also the 64 bit installation?
And did you reset the preferences for Bridge also.
Maybe Curt hops in, I am a Mac user and don't know very much about Windows I'm afraid

  • Problem with Viewing Camera Raw/Photoshop Edited Files in Microsoft Applications

    Hi
When I edit my portraits in Camera Raw or Photoshop and save as sRGB JPEGS they all look fine when viewed in Bridge, Camera Raw and Photoshop.
If I view the portraits in Microsoft Picture Viewer or create a web age of the portraits within Photoshop and view in Internet Explorer, all images look over saturated (particularly the reds) and all the portraits look like they are flushed, blushing, over heated and glowing!
Unfortunately, most people I email, send images to, or post them on the web, will be viewing them in a Microsoft application and therefore they do not appear how they should do with the reds over saturated.
Does anone have a solution to this that is not hit and miss. I do not see the point of investing in CS3 and a professional monitor if my editing looks nothing like the output. Any information would be gratefully received.
    Many thanks

This isn't a Camera Raw issue...it's something you should post on the Photoshop or Color Management forums...I note you have posted on the Ps Windows forum and already received an answer (from a Photoshop engineer no less).

  • Camera raw processing issue

Downloaded photos taken with Canon 5D mk III to ZoomBrowser and Adobe Bridge using Scandisk reader. Photos will not open in photshop CS6 camera raw. Photos taken with Canon 7D will open fine. Is issue with camera or PS CS6?

The 5DmkIII needs at least Camera Raw version 7.1. CS6 comes with Camera Raw 7.0. Have you ever updated Camera Raw?
If you're not using an ancient operating system, you can update to the latest version, 8.6, which still works with CS6:

  • Camera RAW update issue with Bridge CS6

    Hi folks,
I recently installed a routine update for Camera RAW 8.4 and now have a bunch of issues with Bridge including -
    - No previews or ratings showing
    - Ratings filter not working
    - Can't open images directly into Camera RAW without first opening Photoshop (ie - keyboard shortcut not working and File menu command "Open in Camera raw" not available)
    - Can't access or open Camera RAW preferences
I've tried resetting Bridge to default settings but didn't help and ACR still works fine opening in PS. I've attached two screenshots to show the problem better.
Anyone else having these problems? Any solutions?

This should fix it: Camera Raw 8.4 | No metadata or Camera Raw edit

  • My issue started as ACR grayed out in Bridge using PS CC. No option in preference to open in Camera Raw.

My issue started as ACR grayed out in Bridge using PS CC. No option in preferences to open in Camera Raw. After browsing this forum I downloaded the most recent ACR and installed. Now Bridge stalls on the "building crieria" screen. There is a message to purge the cache but that screen stalls as well. I have force quite multiple times and re-started. Any suggestions?

As far as i know, photoshop cs2 and adobe bridge 1 (cs2) could not open jpegs or tiffs into camera raw, only camera raw files.
I believe photoshop cs3 was the first version to allow jpegs to be opened in camera raw.
Are you sure you had photoshop cs2 before?
If on the other hand, you can't open camera raw files that you used to be able to open, then you probably just need to update the camera raw plugin to version 3.7
