PS6 keyboard fail

My keyboard often stops working while using PS6. Not all keys, just a random few. Things like pressing T for the type tool will stop working, the arrow keys will stop working. It's driving me nuts and seriously interrupting my workflow.
To solve the problem I either
Restart PS
Restart Mac
Do something else for a bit and jump back into PS praying it might now be ok :"(
The problem exists using the laptop keyboard alone, and while using a bluetooth(apple) keyboard.
Macbook Pro Retina, with OS 10.8.3.
HELP!

I'll keep that in mind next time it happens, likely Monday back in work. I noticed Evernote running in the menubar, that might be it but then again it's not consistent meaning on first opening PS everything is fine then it's as if it gets tired and starts being a dik.

  • Onscreen keyboard failing to pop up

I just noticed the onscreen keyboard failing to pop up in ANY apps. I am running iOS 4.3. Anyone else? I rebooted twice.

Do you have a bluetooth keyboard connected to it? If so, the keyboard wouldn't come up on its own.

    Hi ,
Do you remember if you  have installed some software prior to this issue?
    Delete programs you never use.
If the issue reoccurs in Clean Boot, but works fine in Safe Mode, the cause may be the disabled hardware drivers. You may narrow down the
    causes in Device Clean Boot.
    Device Clean Boot
    =================
    1. Click Start, type "devmgmt.msc" (without quotation marks) in the Search bar and press Enter.
    2. Expand "Sound, video and game controllers".
    3. Right click on your sound card and then click "Properties.
    4. In the dropdown menu of Device Usage, please choose "Do not use this device (disable)" and click OK.
    5. Please use the same method to disable other dubious hardware such as: internal modem, network card and CD-R drive. Please note some devices
such as video adapter are not available to be disabled.

  • Mackbook internal keyboard fails to work after connecting external keyboard

I am using 13 inch alum macbook. The keyboard and trackpad has always been good.
Today, I tried to connect it to an external wireless logitech keyboard. Initially things do not work. Macbook does not recognize the external keyboard, and ask me to press the key on the right hand side of the left shift key. I tried to press a couple of times, and realized that the wireless keyboard has been running out of battery (has not been using that for a while). After I changed the new batteries, things are connected. However, I am not sure what key I pressed to answer macbook's question. Anyway, most keys work as expected (the 26 letters), but windows key on the external keyboard works as the apple command key. Then I downloaded the doublecommand software trying to remap keys.
Suddenly, I found that the external keyboard fails to work. I then try the internal keyboard, which fails as well. I then disconnect the external keyboard/mouse/display, and restart the machine. The trackpad works ok, but the internal keyboard still fails to work and thus I can not login (can not enter my password). Restarted a couple of times and the situation remains.
I tend to believe this is a software problem related to the mess up of the external keyboard. I tried to boot the machine using the original installation DVD and repaired the permissions of the hardisk. This did not fix the problem.
    Please help. Thanks.

    Problem solved.
It was the "doublecommand" software that I installed after connecting the external keyboard.
I called the Apple Technical Support. They helped me to boot into the safe mode (press Shift when turn on your computer until you see the login screen), and uninstall the software. Things are back to normal.
Apple technical support is very professional and knowledgeable. Thanks.

  • MB Pro 13 early 2011 keyboard failing

As said in the title, the keyboard on my Macbook Pro 13" 2011 seems like it is starting to fail. Out of warranty about 3 months now.
Zero key doesn't appear to be working. Keyboard viewer shows that the "CMD"s are being pressed with it, even though they aren't. Lower volume button is turning the volume up, and higher volume button isn't working at all. Backslashes press the up arrow key & forward slashes presses the equals key.
Absolutely gutted to be honest. The laptop is looked after, and for the amount of money paid for it I am pretty down in the dumps over the quality its given me. 2 months into having it the trackpad stopped working entirely, and now this. Have a feeling it might be costly, pretty disappointing a year and 3 months down the line.
Anyone had a similar situation? What's the solution? I'm handy with these things so I wouldn't be afraid to tackle the fix myself. Where to start..

Ok, kept retrying the SMC reset and eventually it worked. Fans back to normal. Keyboard still not fully functioning though. Seems to be getting worse as I go along.
Anyone? Really appreciate any insight. What is required to replace the keyboard itself (not the plastic keys). Parts rather than workload.

  • Firmware upgrade for keyboard failed now keys won't work

    Hi
Hope someone can help, I recently upgraded my sisters intel imac and during the aluminium (USB) keyboard firmware upgrade it failed and now computer doesn't recognise keyboard keys but usb hub on keyboard that mouse is plugged into works fine. Another keyboard works fine which was handy when trying to type in the passwords to try to re update.
    I have tried the following
    1) searched discussions found advice on resetting nvram, and in open firmware (which on further research doesn't seem possible on this imac?) did control, option P R on start up.
    3) EFI firmware upgrade was successful
    4) have used disk utility to repair permissions
    5) Looked in system profiler and keyboard usb hub is recognised but no keyboard. When another keyboard attached it recognises this fine and is in the system profiler
    6) checked all usb ports
Main question - can I fix or do I have to get a new keyboard or perhaps it would be less stress, time wasted etc to just buy a new keyboard???
    thanks

  • Keyboard failing on 18 month old Air

    Hi all.
I have an odd issue, I'm not sure if it's software or hardware related. I have a Macbook Air, it's 18 months old, and the keyboard is sporadically fail. I see no pattern. The A and Backspace keys are the main two to go, they fail at the same time, and come back at the same time.
    System details:
    1.7 GHz Intel Core i7
    8GB RAM
Intel HD Graphics 5000 1536 MB
    Serial: C02KVGZKF6T6
I always keep the system up to date with software, I don't use illegal software, I can see no reason why this should be happening. I'm running Yosemite, latest updates always applied.
Tempted to perform a clean install and see if that helps. I'd book an appointment but with Christmas so close no shops are accepting bookings and the phone proved useless.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks.
EDIT: Just thought I should test with an external keyboard to see if that also has the same issue. I'll do that.

External keyboard doesn't do this, so it's a hardware issue. Not happy really that I can't get anyone in the shop to look at it for me.

  • Wireless keyboard fail.....

Hi - I am new to this board so patience please! I have a 2011 iMac, and am having intermittent keyboard issues. I have a wireless keyboard that has partially failed - I can't even log in using it. It seems to be connecting to the mac as I can see output in the password field for some keys (numbers, function keys and direction keys, 'esc' all seem to work) but not others - 'P' works for instance, but not " - its all very bizarre. Has anyone seen anything like this before, and do you have any idea how to fix it? I have the wired keyboard on there at the moment but I know that will **** up soon because there is an issue with the extended keyboard and Yosemite, apparently, and that has failed on me before too!! Any help appreciated....

Many thanks - have tried the resets. The first one didn't seem to have any impact. On the PRAM reset there was no difference in the behaviour of the wireless keyboard (maybe the keystrokes weren't registered as the letters aren't working). With the wired keyboard the mac booted to OS X utilities and then stopped, so I manually restarted. A normal start up occurred but then when I tried to put in my password it looked like the keyboard was on remote control - just went speeding off from left to right and whatever has been out in there can't be deleted as the keyboard is not responding. (Caps Lock not lighting up). Is it really possible that both keyboards are shot, or is it more likely a software problem? I am going to borrow a 'normal' usb keyboard from a friend today to see if that works, but in the meantime do you have any further ideas?

  • Keyboard failing on U310

My Ideapad U310 keyboard is failing.
It's a german layout and keys §,% and ? aren't working anymore in shifted mode. (There might be a handful of other keys notworking.)  (key "?" on a german keyboard is where "-_" is on US keyboard, right of the 0.)
The unshifted value, 4,5 and ß (-), work fine. Also shifting the other keys is fine, therefore both keys should be physically OK. It can't be a driver issue either: The keys don't work in the BIOS, either.
This is kind of stumping me; from what I know of keyboard functions, this shouldn't be possible.
Has anyone a helpful hint - is there a possibility that an exchange of the keyboard fixes things, or must the whole BIOS/mainboard be damaged?

  • Thunderbolt display-connected keyboard fails to wake MacBook Pro

I'm having intermittent problems with my keyboard when I use my rMacBook Pro in clamshell mode attached to an Apple Thunderbolt Display. With increasing frequency, when I sleep the Mac, close it and attach it to the display, I cannot wake up the computer using the Apple keyboard that is attached (USB) to the display. Unplugging and repluggin the keyboard does nothing.
I can wake up the computer with a Bluetooth keyboard & login (screensaver), and the Bluetooth keyboard continues to work fine. Nut the wired keyboard never works.
However, if I simply restart the Mac, the display-connected keyboard always begins working again.
I belive this rules out a hardware problem, but I'm open to suggestions. (It's happened repeatedly—maybe ten times over the last several months. But with increasing frequency.)
I can post console logs if that would help.
    Any ideas?

    Clinton,
Thanks for your interest in my question. I actually own a 27" Apple Thunderbolt Display, which works with other Retina Display Macbook Pro, but not mine anymore... That's why I suppose the problem comes from my laptop's thunderbolt ports.
    Any clue?
    Thanks very much in advance.

  • Keyboard fail macbook pro

Some of tagents at the built-in keyboard at my MacBook Pro doesn´t react anylonger as they should. These are som of the tagents at left, f i the shift-tangent that makes BIG letters. What to do?

    Hansson1954,
You can try these to see if it helps:
    smc reset   http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    Also try a pram reset:
Power off, power back on holding the following keys: COMMAND+OPTION+P+R before the start chime, continue to hold these keys till you hear the start chime 2 times then release. If no joy you may need to take into an Apple store for diagnostic, they diagnose for free then give you your options as well as cost. You may need to have the keyboard replaced or not.
Was anything spilled on the keyboard? If so, the latter might be the solution.
    All the best

  • New macmini - keyboard fails to pair

I just unpacked a new macmini.
My old mouse will pair with it (I use a trackpad on the i7 now)
but the new wireless keyboard will not pair with the macmini.
I tried powering off the i7 and removing batteries from the othey keyboard and trackpad
    but that didn't help.
    Now what do I do?

Have you tried resetting the PRAM? If not, take a look at this tech note:http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379
Another thing to try if the above doesn't work is a SMC reset.

  • Keyboard failing intermittently using Numbers '09 in Lion

Since upgrading to Lion today, my keyboard is cutting out in Numbers. It has become completely unusable. I have reinstalled and deleted plists to no avail. I have updated the iWork Suite through Software Update to get the newest update released yesterday. I hope that someone will be able to help me and I will note that this is also happening in both Keynote and Pages. It is also an issue on creating new documents and not just ones that have been migrated to OS X Lion. I appreciate  and thank everyone for any help that is offered.

What you get is the 'normal' behavior.
When you leve the keyboard for some microseconds, the app start its AutoSave task.
As iWork apps are badly coded, the task eat every cycles available in on eprocessor core so you can't do anything just wait for the save achievement.
I delivered a script allowing us to get rid of that.
    Save_As#3 :
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/16810268
    Open a document,
    File > Duplicate
    close the original document
This way, the open document is a 'never saved' one.
Work on it, Autosave will not apply.
From time to time, trigger the script.
    It will :
    (a) duplicate the work in progress
    (b) save the replicate
    (c) close the replicate
You will be able to continue to work in the original duplicate without AutoSave action.
