when i start my pc i get 1 long and 3 short beeps its done this from new, now according to ami site it says 1long and 2 short ok anything more more than the 2 beeps is related to memory AND thats where i am having issues with trying to install 16gig of corsair xms3.i am am giong to reinstall win7 64 bit onto a hard drive and not my crucial 128gig m4 ssd just incase thats the bottlneck,if i put8 gig of mem in all is ok but any more than that and i get freezes and have to reboot.so before i reinstall does anyone know the bios beep codes or point me in the right direction ..i must applogise now to jack as ive commited the sin of multi threading its not intentional (thought iwas on original thread)

Your system does not use standard AMI BIOS Releases, but AMI Aptio coded UEFI Implementation.  The beep codes you found for AMI BIOS have no meaning in your case.  As long as the system boots fine and does not completely halt with the mentioned beep code, there is absolutely no problem to worry about. What you have there are most likely status beeps (one for each connected & active USB device).

    I have 2 T500 laptops I use for personal use and I've been having a problem getting the 1-3-3-1 bios beeps on restart. The laptop just does the beeps and then doesn't post and requires a hard restart. Neither one does it everytime and its seems to work okay using one dimm but when I use 2 dimms I get the beeps at a random amount of restarts. I'm using Crucial memory I purchased in a set of 2. I've tried all the memory tests but find no errors. I have already sent in one once and still it gets the bios beeps. I'm running the latest bios already. Is this a bad systemboard or what? If so I must have got 3 so far! Anyone have any advice to correct this problem. I've also tried switching dimms in the different slots, but it doesn't matter as the problem still persists. By neither one does it everytime I meant every restart.

    After getting advice about the problem being the memory, I tried one of the Crucial dimms a long with the original that came with laptop and this worked fine for awhile but I'm still looking for a solution! I've tried 3 different types of memory Crucial, Adata and Samsung (factory) and still have the bios beeps occassionaly. Asked a question and the reply was with 3rd party memory will get this beep error ocassionally with 3rd party memory. Suggested the only way to avoid this was to buy memory from Lenovo. On October 2nd Lenovo came out with bios 3.06 and 3.09. These appear to have corrected the problem I was having. I have done about 10+ restarts and I haven't had the bios beeps yet. I'm running 4gb Adata memory.

  • FM2-A75MA-P33 - no video/post/bios/beeps.

    Hi everyone,
    I built a PC with these parts:
    APU: AMD A-Series A6-6400K X2 SFM2
    Motherboard: FM2-A75MA-P33
    RAM: Crucial Ballistix 4GB DDR3 PC3-14900 CL10 BLS4G3D18ADS3CEU
    HDD: Seagate BARRACUDA 500GB 7200RPM 16MB ST500DM005
    PSU: Corsair VS350 ATX2.31 350W CP-9020052-EU
    When I first turned it on, it got no video, so I assumed it was that the BIOS is too old. I borrowed an external GPU, attached it and was able to get to BIOS. The BIOS version was V11.1, so the APU should work (according to the MSI website). In any case, I flashed it to V11.2 and still no changes. No video/post/bios/beeps when using the onboard graphics.
    The BIOS displays the CPU name properly, even with the Radeon xxxxHD in the name, but when I go to the Integrated Graphics Devices Configuration in the BIOS, the only option there is Initiate Graphic Adapter set to PEG and it's grayed out, can't change it.
    Not sure if it is relevant, but when removing the RAM it does not beep, neither with or without the external GPU.
    Also I have noticed, that without RAM, when the fans speed up and then slow down, the power button has to be long pressed to turn off the PC. But when having the RAM and GPU, when it goes through the boots and sees that there is no OS, it displays a message and can be turned off by a short press on the power button. Same thing happens without the external GPU, but there is no video output, so I assume it does go through the boot process.
    I've tried both the VGA and the DVI port, with cables and a monitor that works on another PC, I've also tried to clear the CMOS and flashed bios back to V11.1 (the one the motherboard came with).
    I saw somewhere mentioned that the Initiate Graphic Adapter option can get disabled do to overclocking or some other BIOS settings (I have the default settings though). Is there anything I can try changing to enable it?
    I am also thinking of installing on OS with the external GPU in it, and then maybe the video will output after it successfully boots.
    I guess I could also try reseating the APU, but not sure if that would help.

    The external GPU I use is Asus GT 620.
    I am not sure if I can boot with the onboard one, as nothing is displayed on the screen when using the onboard one. It might go through the boot process and stop when detecting that there is no OS installed yet. I'll try to see if it boots to LiveCD when I get home or install an OS using the external GPU.
    When using the onboard GPU, I do not see anything on the screen.
    There are no beeps.

    odd one this as from new i had no bios beeps at all from bios 1.1 to 1.5 now updated to 1.6 i suddenly get 1 beep then pause then beep beep and all boots up with no red lights at all system runs fine ..only other thing ive change is my psu from a bog standard 550w to a hiper type r 580w with 2 12v rails outputs.....anybody had this problem 

    ok will try and clear cmos ,,but i removed all usb items from mobo (mouse etc) and still got the beeps weird things once xp or vista gets going i cant find any problems all 4 green leds on mbob and windows does not show any problems in device manager
    ,one other odd ball is that i have 2 256mb usb mem sticks and 1-1gig and 1-4 gig and i created a usb boot disk on 1 usb 256 and also on the 1 meg but i can only get the mobo to boot off the 256 it simply ignores the one meg and just loads xp or vista (pending on which ive booted from 2 seperate hdds) ???

  • P67a GD-55 (B3) Bios Beep Code

    I had some issues with lockups and random reboots after 7-8 months of flawless operation this past week. Since then I have reformatted the ssd and re-installed win 7 64.
    While troubleshooting the issue I installed the latest bios 1.G0(which normally I would not touch if everything was working fine.
    When I reboot the system I get the following beeps( I am aware that there is a POST beep in here).
    1 long beep - 2 beeps(rapidly) then 3beeps (rapidly)
    I have been searching the web all day and have found a few posts in various forums about bios beeps and haven't really gotten a good explanation yet. Any ideas?

    The power supply seems to be working properly, I don't have a tester but it fires right up upon depressing the on button, so i have to assume for now.

    Yes, I am sorry I have removed the battery for a few minutes and cleared CMOS. I had thought about reflashing the bios 1.G0 to the 1H but according to the fix in 1H I didn't think it would help much.
    The reboots/lockups are not happening now. Infact everything seems to be running fine. As I reload programs back on and games. But all this started a week to ten days ago and it would happen in windows and during rebooting just after POST, then for a millisecond a BSOD and return me to the Windows failed to load page. The BSOD happens so quickly that I cannot get the error code from it.
    As I said everything seems to be running fine now. But I am still uneasy as i abotu thinking about selling this pc off and don't wanna sell someone a lemon.

    Hi everyone, I just recently replaced my P67A-GD55 by a Z77A-GD55 and so far there is no problem at start up or shut down. I have a little question though; ¿ Is it OK for the board not to beep at start up? We verified that the little speaker in the motherboard is working, we take out the memory and beeped, so we are sure it is OK

    New bios versions have the beeps on a successful boot removed as most considered that annoying. It will only beep in case of problems. So no beeping is good.

    This started with screen freezes needing hard restart using the restart button while playing Dragon Age:Origin and continued with Battlefield p4f, and BF3.  After reseating the CPU/cooler, RAM, GPU then updating the drivers using Live Update 5 and then manually updating; I started getting BSODs and restarts while playing games and several time while using 3D Mark.  Tried to change the voltage for the DRAM with no help and loaded only the Default Optimized Settings in BIOS.  I updated the BIOS to the listing in my signature, moved the HDD and Optical drive to different SATA ports and updated the audio driver to the current one on MSI website.  System finally seemed to be running fine then the stuff happened as quoted form my previous post.
    As this stuff has continued, the PC seems to be running slower and slower.  What I mean by that is the boot times have started taking longer and the system does not respond as quickly to commands.  Like now, as I type, I am at least two or three words ahead of what is put on the screen (never has done that before).  Funny thing about that is this was the fastest computer I have ever had with response, booting, and post (my wife even commented on how fast it booted up).  Not sure if the other issues have anything to do with this but I am trying to post everything I can think of to give all the necessary info.  If more information is needed then let me know and possibly tell me where to find it?
    Not really sure how to post the dump files from Blue Screen View and My Event Viewer but gladly would if someone can give a newbie some direction on this.  Thanks in advance for all help and consideration.

    Yes, the BIOS I have flashed was pulled from there.  I thought it had the problem resolved until it had another BSOD after several hours of use.

    I just installed this board into the system. It is unable to boot and gives me 1 beep, sometimes 2 beeps.
    I changed memory from a good system and still no results.
    I also have this same board and processor and swapped memory from this system to verify if memory was at fault. Memory from bad system shows up good at running system.
    any ideas, besides RMA.

    Ok, here are my specs
    I running a Intel E3300 processor with a MSI G31TM - P21 motherboard with AMI v4.6 bios. I have only one stick of Micron 1 gb pc2-5300 ram installed in slot one. Currently running onboard video. I attempted to run this new setup with a preinstalled 32 bit Vista OS HD(sata, 160 gb). I removed all peripherals with the exception of the USB keyboard/mouse (wireless). No add on cards.
    The previous setup was running windows XP on a PATA HD. This info is probably irrelevant since there is nothing similar and I did attempt to run this new system on this PATA  drive (known good) and got the same results (beeps).
    I have this same setup (upgrade) that I did about 1 month ago on another system. This "older" system is working fine.
    I swapped memory from the "older" system since my research tells me that two beeps is a parity issue. Known good memory from the "older" system resulted in no new results. Both set of windows (XP and Vista) attempted to "fix" my problem but were unable to.
    I have reverted in the meantime to the previous setup using the PATA HD with XP os and am having no problems with this setup. 

  • 786GT-E63 Unusual Bios Beeps

    I just got my motherboard yesterday and installed it. I updated to Bios S3, then I reinstalled windows and it seems to boot into windows ok, but every time I reboot or powerup, I get 3 short higher pitched beeps followed by one short lower pitched beep.
    I have run multiple memory tests and they all come back with no faults found.  I just want to make sure that this is the USB device beeps and not a diagnostic error. Are the USB beeps supposed to come before or after the lower pitched beep?

    Ok the three short high pitched beeps before the single low pitch beep appear to be the USB peripherals.
    After I figured that out I tried to test hibernate and standy modes. I tried hibernate in s1 and sleep in s3 and both blue screened.  Like I stated earlier it appear to not be the memory as I have run the standard and extended memory tests with zero faults.
    Any ideas?

  • K9ND Speedster BIOS Beep codes.

    Hi bought a K9ND Speedster  on ebay the other day to use with my 2347HE quadcores that I have. I realize this is not supported out the box and I need the 8mb bios chip. I borrowed a DUAL core socket F processor just to test the motherboard. With 1cpu, 1stick of 2GB ddr2- ecc reg ram the motherboard will not post. I get a quick series of beeps, then a stable "doo dee doo dee doo dee" beep code. I have tried 2 different video cards )pci and pci-e im just not sure what the problem could be. Any takers? And just to reiterate i am using a DUAL CORE cpu right now not the quadcore.

    I dont hear the normal single beep signifying post. I hear an usualy series of tones followed immediatley by the doo dee doo dee. It takes about 15 seconds before the unsual tone series of tones. Nothing is displayed on screen. I have gone through and cleared the cmos through the JBAT1 jumper and dissconnected the battery as well (System was unplugged from power).
    What are the random tones before the doo dee doo dee?
    So you think the board is infact posting? Im going to try a couple more video cards.

  • 6 Long BIOS beeps after video card install

    Hello, i recently bought a HP ENVY h8-1437c, Windows 8, I replaced the (NVIDIA GeForce GT 620) With a (Sapphire HD 7770 1GB GDDR5). I hooked up the 6 pin power and made sure that the card is seated properly multipule times.  On startup I get 6 long beeps along with the power LED flashing. Then a few seconds later the power LED turns blue and the PC starts up fine. The card seems to be working fine as well. I have played games on the max settings with no issues, where as before the GeForce card couldent do this. I was reading across the web that it might have something to do with the BIOS secured boot enabled, so I disabled it with no change, same 6 long beep then the PC starts up fine. I guess my question is, is this okay that it beeps? Is it causing any internal issues? The only things I have done so far are adding the video card software, disabled secure boot (using the old GeForce card to get into BIOS) and reseat the new vid card/6pin power wire. Thanks for the help and let me know if you need more info.

    Why do you want to change to Legacy mode?
    Tap the ESC key after powering up the PC and then go to computer setup (f10). Now go to the Security topics and select Security Boot Configuration and disable secure boot and finally enable legacy mode.  See the below example:
    I see that there is bios update posted for your PC. You might want to consider applying the bios update before making any bios changes.  Check with HP Support to make sure that the bios update is compatible with your particular model since it appears to be posted for a Compaq PC.

  • Bios beep Code after installing Msi 970 GTX 4G gaming

    I recently replaced my 570gtx with an MSI 970 GTX 4G Gaming.
    Although everything seems to be running fine and windows boots without any problems, I have noticed the occurrence of 1 beep at the mobo bios boot since installing this card. Which according the the manufacturer indicates a "BIOS ROM checksum failure - Possible MB failure".  I already checked whether it could be caused by the Card being loosely fitted in the PCI slot by removing and reinserting it to no avail. The card came with the latest graphic card bios installed. I also checked my CMos settings and could find nothing wrong with it unless I'm missing something.
    So the question is whether I should be worried or not?

    It's an old Dell Xps 730x I bought off a friend since I liked the case and he was letting it go cheap. Pretty much everything other than the Mobo, PSU and CPU have been replaced.

    from what I read it produces 18 amps on each of the +12v rails.
    Considering newer graphic cards require 32amps this may be the problem; however, before upgrading to the MSI card it was running on 570 GTX SLI without any occurrence of the beep at bios boot. The only difference between the old cards to the new is that I had to attach the power cable adapter included in the box for the second power cable to be attached.

  • Did MSI alter Vcore settings with Z68A-GD55 (B3) BIOS 25.6 update?

    You'll have to excuse me, as I've been away from motherboard/BIOS/OC stuff for a while...
    I built my current computer about a year ago with a Z68A-GD55 (B3) and i5-2500K. After some initial OC experimentation, I found a sweet spot and have been running absolutely solid @ 4.5GHz Turbo with BIOS 22.4 for that year.
    I recently made the upgrade to the latest 25.6 BIOS. Before doing so, I painstakingly took snapshots of all my settings before the upgrade, then performed the upgrade and re-entered all the settings to what they had been. Once booted into Windows, the system bluescreened after login.
    I went back into the BIOS and immediately noticed that the CPU core voltage that I had been setting (1.325v) was no longer delivering the expected current voltage (it had been showing current voltage of '1.320V', but with BIOS 25.6, it now showed '1.288V'.)
    Not really sure what else to do, I ratcheted up the CPU voltage until it more or less matched the old 1.320V, but it required that I now set the CPU core voltage to 1.36V to achieve that (.035V higher than before). It seems to have resolved the bluescreening for now.
    So, my questions are:
    1. Am I doing the right thing to achieve the stability I previously had?
    2. Is a change in core voltage setting and readings from BIOS 22.4 to 25.6 to be expected?
    3. Am I actually using up more power under this new BIOS to do the same thing as before?

    Each BIOS version, carry on the co-respond ME versions that's required by this BIOS to runs properly.
    When we flash with those special BIOS archives, its performed full BIOS update include the proper ME version which is part of  BIOS file ver.

  • S10e and 4 BIOS beeps at startup

    I have read a lot about this kind of problem.
    First off, it is not documented in the “IdeaPad S9e, S10e, and S10 Hardware Maintenance Manual”. There is only mention of “Four cycles of four short beeps”, but clearly here I have only one cycle.
    Second, according to the many posts (on different models) which I have read it seems related to the memory. Many people solved it by switching memory modules or simply replacing them. S10e has an on-board memory module which I can not remove or replace. I tried removing the extended module, but the problem remains.

    probably system board or ram ( internal ) issue.
    contact lenovo support line and ship it back to service.
    ( before, try to remove the battery, un-plug the ac power, press power button for 30-40 seconds, replace the battery and check if it works. also, try to set default settings for bios )
