PSA 2.0 to PSA SE 3.0 Catalog Issues

I edit my images in PS CS but I paid for Photoshop Album 2.0. because I really liked its tagging facilities and calendar organizing. So I spent a lot of time tagging.
Now PSA 3.0 SE is out and I installed it but after install I noticed it didn't have my old tags. This might be caused by my moving the PSA 2.0 to my G drive to improve drive contention and to make it more noticeable for backups (I believe it was buried in the "Program Files/Adobe/Album" area or something like that...hard to even know you should go there for backups).
So a couple questions:
1) Is this tagging and calendaring stuff available in Elements or Photoshop? In others words is going to PSA SE 3.0 the right upgrade path?
2) How can I get the catalog into PSA SE 3.0? Are the 2.0 and 3.0 catalogs compatible so I can just replace the 3.0 catalog with 2.0? Or is there a hidden import function?
Thanks for you help. I wish Adobe had at least carried the 2.0 features (including have the catalog location listed in preferences) rather than dumbing it down.
Bob

This is all very confused - bacause Adobe use complicated versioning.
The last version of PSA was PSA 2.
There is a giveaway version called PSA SE 3, which is mostly a subset of PSA 2.
The replacement for PSA 2 was Photoshop Elements 3 [PSE 3 - its Organizer component], which added more functionality and works fine with CS.
PSE 3 was then replaced by PSE 4 and PSE 4 by PSE 5.
Forget PSA SE 3.

  • Using PSA 2.0 with PSA SE 3.0

So I already own PhotoShop Album 2.0 and PhotoShop Elements 2.0...
We have also bought a new digital camera that works quite well... and we've taken over 700 photos in the last 6 months.
(side note: Never let Windows Photo downloader copy photos from camera to disk, it strips the date!... I just copy the photos from the camera to hard drive since Win XP considers the camera connected to a USB is just another drive)
I also have decided to incorporated scanned photos from an old attempt at Web based Christmas card (back when it was an "@home.com" address). So when the PSA 2.0 pulled them in, there lots of duplicate pictures that looked the same, but I needed to right click the mouse to bring up "properties" to see which was the thumbnail file and which was the larger full sized photo.
BUT... I noticed that PSA SE 3.0 does show the picture (smaller) WITH the file name under it! And all I have to do is float the mouse over the file name to get the full path (Shared Documents/Shared Pictures... etc.jpg).
BUT... I cannot move files (except delete duplicates), nor can I copy to a CD or DVD... which PSA 2.0 fully paid for does (oh, and PSA 2.0 did a great job of burning DVD's when my then "new" laptop's DVD software failed... that has since been fixed by buying decent burning software with added functionality).
But all is not lost... (sorry I don't quite feel like buying PSE 4.0 just yet). The PSA 2.0 can read the PSA SE 3.0 catalog file! Woo Hoo!
So I can pull in all the pictures I've been meaning to organize... and this includes scanning some more very old slides and snapshots. Have PSA SE 3.0 organize, re-date and tag --- then burning picture CD's with PSA 2.0 (which can also edit the pictures by pulling in PSE 2.0, needed to get dust marks and scratches off scanned slides).

I must apologise to everyone who has bothered to read about my problems, especially Colin -thanks. When checking again (properly) I realised that I had indeed renamed the files names in PASE3 and they were not initially shown in PA2. On starting PA2 next day the file names were all correct. I know they disapear if the thumbnails are too small, but I had tried larger sizes. I can only assume (v. dangerous!) that it took the PC to reboot for the file names to show? Anyway, I am now well pleased with Album 2. I'll probably burn a copy of the photos - just in case..............
    Happy New Year to everyone

  • How do I open a PSA file type in Photoshop Elements 12

How do I open a PSA file type in Photoshop Elements 12

A file with a .PSA extension is most probably a catalog file from an older version of Elements (up to PSE5). To be able to use it with a newer version (including PSE12), you'll have to convert the catalog to the new format. In the organizer, open the 'File' menu, select the catalog manager (shift Ctrl C) and click the convert button, browse to the .psa file. Your catalog will be converted to the new format.

  • PSE 2/PSA 2 conversion to PSE 5 on new PC

I Just purchased and installed a new PC running MS Windows XP Media Edition. I am in the process of converting applications and data/picture files from my old MS Windows XP Home Edition to the new PC. Both Windows XP operating systems are up to date.
The old PC has PSE 2.0 and PSA 2.0.1 which manages just under 2,000 cataloged and tagged photos. I have not installed PSE or PSA on the new machine. Both PCs have a single hard drive c:.
I just purchased PSE 5, but have not installed it on either PC. What would be the best way to convert and copy My_Catalog with all the photos to PSE 5 on my new PC?
    a) On old PC, Backup My_Catalog to CDs (or flash drive) with PSA 2;
Install PSE 5 on the new PC and restore to c: on new PC
    b) Install PSE 5 on old PC and convert My_Catalog to new Organizer
    (however that might be done);
Backup catalog and photos on old PC with PSE 5 to CDs (or flash drive)
Install PSE 5 on new PC and restore My_Catalog
    c) Some other method?
I searched your Tips, Tools, How-to, and Techniques forum and did not find anything too definitive. I would sincerely appreciate guidance on this conversion before I start.

As no one has posted to this entry, I am thinking about doing the following to convert to PSE 5 and moving to a new PC.
    On my old PC:
    1. With PSA Ver 2, File/Reconnect_All_Missing_Files
    2. With PSA Ver 2, File/Catalog/Recover
    3. With PSA Ver 2, File/Backup the catalog and burn CDs
    4. Install PSE Ver 5. Hopefully, this will convert the PSA 2 catalog to PSE 5 format.
    5. With PSE Ver 5, Backup the catalog to CDs
    On my new PC:
    6. Install PSE Ver 5
    7. With PSE 5, Restore the PSE 5 backup CDs

  • PSA IS NOT CATEGORIZED ( VOODI PLE ANS)

    hi voodi,
i studied f1 ans i didnt get, what is main purpose of  psa is not categorized under gereral tab in datasource creation?
    regards
    suneel.

    Suneel,
That settings is very important and one of the best feature in BI 7.0. No load will fail because of Special Charecters etc.
If you select PSA is not typed, means all the PSA (Fields in the tables) will be created with CHAR as datatypes (Source may supply any thing) i guess. That means you can make sure that load till PSA will pass without any issues.
i will update thread one link which we had very good discussion on that.

  • Delta Loads are not working: 0FI_GL_10 With enhancement : HR Data in source

Hello Friends. Thanks for your answer on theory which I know, Please help me with this situation. I read all the sdn response to my message and have below for your suggestion
QUES1: Why the 0RECORDMODE is not coming in Standard DSO and hence it is not there in Transformation in between Infosource and DSO. What do I need to include 0RECORDMODE in standard DSO. What is the correct OSS to Implement on SP 10 to solve this.
Ques2. As suggested by you If I run the Delta loads after waiting for 1 hour of Init load. say init load was done at 11 am . i will do the delta at 12:10 am to psa via Infopack and then wait for an hour to run the DTP from PSA to DSO. Delta Records come in but it also bring in the records in DSO that are not changed from about 7 hours in ECC. and make our total Balance incorrect.
Ques3: We have this Cocatenation of Keys in DSO since we exceeded the total number of 13 key in DSO.
Cocatenation#1 GL ACCT and CHRT OF ACCTS
    Cocatenation#1 SEGMENT AND CONT AREA
Cocatenation#1 Version, Value Typem, Valuation view, Currency Type.
    <b>
Since business want to include HR Data in Keys Like Employee Number, Emp Code, EMPSPIMCODE. Payroll ID and I can not remove these fields from Key in DSO as per the business.</b>
Also the above fields GL ACCT , CHRT OF ACCTS, SEGMENT, CONT AREA
exist in Data FIELDS OF DSO. so what are the steps to modify the design to fix this asap.
Please email me at [email protected] if you have any docs to resolve the above
    Thanks

Did the full load bring all records from sourcesystem to PSA?
Was this an issue with the first delta you have tested ?
Concatentaion of multiple keys into one should not be an issue here as that must have been happening in DSO and delta brings incorrect records to PSA itself.
Are you validating delta records against FAGLFLEXT inputing the timestamp value  or RSA3 ..how ?
    <b>Check if this note helps</b>
    Note 1002272 - NewGL-DataSource 0FI_GL_10, 3FI_GL_*: Missing record.
Is delta bringing incorrect records to PSA or DTP brings incorrect records to DSO from PSA ?
May be you should revisit the logic behind for the enhancement of 0FI_GL_10.
I am facing a similar issue as well but here delta doesnot even bring a single record ( ODS has 20 keys )...will update if resolves and you do the same.

  • Delta not generated in case of Actual Goods Issue date change in R3

    Hi Gurus
In our implementation in BI Production server we are using 2LIS_12_VCHDR and  2LIS_12_VCITM
extractors where in R3 Deliveries are created first and then the PGI is done. While in BI Extractions As the data comes first time without any issue but when the PGI is done the PGI date Tech Name (WADAT_IST) gets updated in the R3 system but in RSA 7 too this delta is not getting generated. can any one tell the probable reason.
We are stuck there Early help needed.
    Thanks
    Shivani

    Hi Shivani,
did you manage to solve your problem?
We are facing a similar issue:
    - We also have both datasources active: 2LIS_12_VCITM and 2LIS_12_VCHDR
    - In R/3 the following steps happened: A delivery was created and the record has issued to BW --> In PSA a request with status of good issue movement = A (correct!).
    - Afterwards in R/3 the delivery has been picked and then, after 1 second, issued.
    - This time the requests on the two datasource look different: in 2LIS_12_VCITM it seems like the good issue delta comes before the picking delta, so the result is that the delivery is read as still open (status of good issue movement = A Not correct!). In 2LIS_12_VCHDR, instead, is all correct: the last record in PSA refers to the good issue delta.
Change documents order in R/3 is correct, but it is not the same as the sequence in PSA of 2LIS_12_VCITM.
    Can anyone help me?
    Thanks in advance
    Roberta

  • How do I get a clean start for catalog to start all over again?

Running PSE5 on Win XP w/SP3
I have not been able to get any information about how to recover a catalog from files that have been copied as a backup, so it looks like I'm forced to start all over again.  There are about 17000 images in the C: drive.  The images all seem to be OK.  A few days ago there was a properly operating catalog file (and all the others) there, too.
Since then, I have tried to learn how to make the former catalog file operative, but no luck.  Since then, I have read that just uninstalling and reinstalling PSE5 will do nothing to give me a clean start - that is, all the old (now problematical) catalog file trouble will still be there.
To start all over again seems like such a waste of time, since I have copies of all the catalog files as they were properly operating in March, but it seems that something important is missing and none of this stuff is useful in any way.  I'm not the PSE5 user, so I didn't know about the external catalog backup that can be done from within PSE5 - so the possibility to use that technique does not exist.  All I have is a straight copy of everything in the Documents and Settings.. ...Application Data\Adobe folder.  I've tried replacing the whole Adobe folder with the backup files, starting PSE5 and looking at the catalog, but that didn't work either. I just get the same old empty catalog.
So, the 'start all over' option seems like the only way out.  Anyone who has lost the catalog knows how much work is in the catalog, so any help with either making the old catalog file work through reconstruction somehow, or starting all over again, will be very helpful.  Someday, I'd like to learn how this happened.  Until then I'll be backing up the catalog file from within PSE5 to an external location...  Everytime there's a new entry in the catalog information.  That method seems simple enough that even I could do it.
    Thanks,
    Al
    (K3PXR)

I tried to open the resident 'My Catalog.psa' file.  PSE5 dutifully did that and the catalog information, such as tags and other information that would normally be present when looking at the Organizer is blank, as if nothing has ever been entered in the catalog.
The 'My Catalog.psa' file is about 600K (according to windows explorer) and resides in the 'Catalogs' folder.  Also there are:
    My Catalog-2.psa  about 3252K
    My Catalog-2.psa about 5380K
In the folder: 'Catalog Folders' were the folders:
    My Catalog
    My Catalog-1
In the folder My Catalog are the files:
      backupCt.dat  1K
      collstatus.dat  1K
      tagstatus.dat  1K
      thumb.5.cache  10K
In the folder My Catalog-1 is the file:
      tn.4.cache  32394 K
Above I say 'In the folder, Catalog Folders, were the folders My Catalog and My Catalog-1' because last night when shutting down, I didn't know what was in those folders.  I was too tired to check.
I did copy everything that was in the Adobe folder and all associated sub folders, including the folders above, to an SD flash card before I started to do anything else.  Becasue of this, I should be able to get back to the way it was before I started to do anything, then I opened the catalog file My Catalog-1.psa.  It said that it was made from an earlier version, asked to convert it and contained the 2002 to 2004 catalog information.  To the best of my knowledge, those photos were never entered in PSE5, and probably were from an earlier version of PS Album.
So, where is the information that was once in the PSE5 catalog?  Which files should contain that information?  Why can't the files simply be copied from the backup copies back on to the C:\ drive in the proper folders and then upon starting PSE5 see at least the catalog that was present when the copies of the files in the folders above were made?  What dumb mistakes could have been made to overwrite the information in the catalog and make the catalog appear empty?  If I don't learn this, I'll not be able to prevent it from happening again.
I'm not on the machine with the trouble at the moment, and since it is not my machine, I sometimes have trouble getting to it during normal waking hours.  I don't know the exact clicks and keystrokes that got the catalog from its normal function to appearing and functioning as if it is empty..
What exactly are the symptoms of "PSE5 doesn't like..."?  The catalog appears and functions as if it is empty - as if nothing ever has been or ever was entered into it.  PSE5 Organizer is operating normally as far as I can tell.  I cannot seem to locate the former catalog information and it has not loaded the former catalog file information.  A new test catalog was made and it opens and shows the thumbnails of its four images.  I hope that the test catalog I made didn't overwrite anything that would prevent going back to the original catalog information.  The copies of the files can be restored as they were a few months ago, though, because there is a copy of them on an SD card.
    Thanks,
    Al

  • Adobe Photoshop Elements 7   - Comparison with Picasa and Canon Zoom Browser

I have recently bought a new computer and connected it to a USB hard drive which contained all my photos and a copy of an Adobe Photoshop Elements (APE) 4 catalog which permitted me to run APE 4 directly from the USB drive. The new computer runs on Windows 7 with Adobe Photoshop Elements 7. When I attempted to open the old catalog, created in APE 4 APE 4, APE 7 needed to convert it. The converted catalog then needed to reconnect with files and this took hours because APE seems to be incapable of sorting this out automatically. On the other hand Picasa 3 dealt with the matter in minutes and Canon Zoom Browser dealt with it in seconds. Why is this? What are the advantages of using APE 7 over Picasa 3 or Canon Zoom Browser?

    John McQuade wrote:
I avoid keeping photos on the C Drive of my computer because of adverse past experiences of losing data when problems arose and it was necessary to reinstall Windows. I prefer to use two separate hard disc drives connected to my computer using  USB ports so that I have all photos and catalogs on each drive. PSE catalogs appear to be drive letter specific so that a catalog created on one drive will not function if simply copied to the other. In PSE-4 I overcame this problem by opening the copied catalog and changing all references to drive letters. In PSE-7 I am unable to open the database and my goal is to find a quick and efficient way of modifying a copied catalog so that it functions on a drive different to the one on which the catalog was created.
Finally, and at long last, a kindred spirit that won't keep photos on the OS drive. I was told as recently as >> yesterday << that my post about saving photos anyplace else but  "C:/" was "non-sequitur".
Second, I'm sort of accustomed to "USB drive", as a synonym for "flash drive", and "Ext HDD" referring to an external HDD, (this makes sense, at least in my twisted individual perception), so accordingly, I apologize for my knee-jerk lecture about it.  (In hindsight, perhaps the only child in me is expecting too much also).
I never use external HDDs, but rather install additional HDDs internally to accomplish the same net result. My sensibilities here are, they are quite a bit less expensive, they do the same job, and you don't have addional s*** laying all over the place.
IMO, you are overthinking the database issue. I get to say that since I have no such ability to do so, and additionally, I have never been unable to reconnect a catalog other than within the normal Windows environment.
Therefore, I suggest changing the drive letter(s) to that of the old drive(s), and remain in blisslful ignorance as to whether PSE-7 is using the SN# or Drive letter to do its "dirty work".
As Mr. Ellis has pointed out, you're trying to do too many things at once. I'm going to suggest an "experimental" fix which is sort of backwards from Mr. Ellis', but retains the same spirit.
Install PSE-4 on the NEW machine! Insert its catalog file into its (PSE-4) correct folder. This location can be found by "Help" > "System Info".
Upon installation, PSE-4 will generate a new catalog, "My Catalog", therefore you must change the old catalog's name, (say "My Catalog 2"), to avoid a conflict.
You might have to change the "compatibility" mode for PSE-4 several times, before PSE-7 will be able to follow the file path.
As an additional note, since PSE-7 is technically, (according to Adobe), "incompatible", you can match its compatibility mode with PSE-4's, at the onset. After you have stabilized the system, change PSE-7's mode back to whatever works best.
If you need any more info on these operations, please feel free to post back.
I would like to add, that my PSE-7 in Windows 7 runs poorly in comparision with the same program in the XP environment. This seems not to be "typical", but IMO, worth mentioning.
Please also bear in mind that you can paste the entire catalog file into the "Open Catalog" dialog box, and PSE will place in its folder for you...!
Then, assuming the HDD letters are the same, it will reconnect "instantly", or in the case of a PSE-4 ".psa" cat file, PSE-7 will convert it, then open it instantly.
As an afterthought, by changing the drive letters, then pasting the .psa file into the "Catalog Open" dialog box, you do not have to make any additional installations of PSE, nor muck about in any database.

  • Import From Elements - where did it go

I noticed that the Michael Tapes 'Import' video showed an 'Import From Elements' menu item on the file menu. I have the 4.1 beta installed and this item does not appear in the file menu. Where did it go or is there another way to import a PSE catalog straight into LR.
    Here is the video site:
    http://pictureflow.fileburst.com/_Tutorials/Photoshop_LR/01/index.html

I'm hoping that this whole process is unnecessary. By seeing the "Import from Elements" option, I am currently hoping/assuming that this means it will import the actual PSE Organizer catalog into LR. PSE Organizer uses .psa files for each catalog. I am hoping that by selecting the "Import from Elements" options, LR will take your .psa file (Photoshop Elements Organizer Catalog) and convert it into a .aglib file (Lightroom Library). The tags, categories and subcategories should be converted to the Lightroom equivalent of keywords, parent keywords, and child keywords (or whatever they're called in LR). In doing this, there should be no preparation of anything in PSE Organizer. If I'm understanding what Susan just said she did, it seems that the actions you just took Susan by making everything a category just took away all hierarchical tags (or parent/child information), for their is no heirarchy in the IPTC keywords fields, unless I'm mistaken.
Once again, I'm assuming this is how it will work and I hope I'm right . . . any other way just doesn't seem to make any sense. The "Import from Elements" option would not be needed if you've already embedded all of your tags into the files (or made all of your tags into categories and embedded that). If that information is already embedded in the file, then just import the files through the typical import dialog and it will find that information. There is no need to worry about the catalog or the "Import from Elements" command at all. My hope is that I don't need to do this and I can just convert the catalog on the fly (much like when you upgrade from say PSE Organizer version 3 to PSE Organizer version 5). Regardless, I will wait until LR is released before I take any steps to start the conversion process. I don't want to compomise something that I've spent years creating and works great already because I'm guessing or assuming how something may or may not work. I guess we shall all know soon enough (or even sooner if a final release tester can confirm this in any way).

  • How do I see a photo full screen in photoshop elements app?

How do I see a photo full screen in photoshop elements app?  From what I can tell, I can't see a photo full screen in iphoto. I need full screen!

  • Missing albums after converting catalog from PSE 6 to PSE 7

Images converted with no problem but all albums are missing from the album list. is their another step or process in converting the albums?
    thanks

I lost my primary hard drive where PSE 6 and all picture files were stored but fortunately had it backed up on a web service backup.
Upon attemptint to reinstall PSE 6 to my new replacement hard drive (same PC as original) I could not find the exe file to get PSE 6 to launch and grew aggravated. I then downloaded the free trial of PSE 7 instead and :
    1) imported my 11K pictures directly in to PSE7 with no issue except that the album info was not present
    2) in an attempt to get the album info I then converted my PSE6 catalog file .psa to a PSE7 catalog but the album info did not come across
What can I do to either get my album info in PSE7 or going back to the root of the problem reinstall PSE6 and get it to launch?
Again I never could find the exe file to get my backup copy of PSE 6 to launch
    Thanks

  • COGI at WM bin level

    Hello experts,
My requirement is to see the PSA negaive bins causing production issues.
Why cannot we see WM errors in COGI. Do we have any report with combination or IIM and WM?
Super users are only looking at COGI and clearing then. They are not looking at negatives in BIN. This is causing issues. Right now they are seeing LX03 fro negatives but they want to see as weel in COGI.
    ANy help?

    Hello manu
The following thread points that, if you does not allow negative quantities on WM customizing and set
message L9 040 to error, the goods movement should appear on COGI.
Storage Tpe 902 allow negative stock.
    Did you already try that?

  • Duplicate records in DTP

    Guys,
My DTP failed 4 days back, but the full load from Source system to PSA is executing successfully.
To correct the DTP load, I have deleted the last DTP request and also all the PSA requests except the last one and when I re-executed the DTP I am getting Duplicate records. Also, in the failed DTP header, I am seeing all the deleted PSA requests?
How do I resolve this issue? I cannot check Handle duplicate records since it is a Time dependent data.
    Thanks,
    Kumar

    Hi Kumar,
1.deleting from PSA and updating is not a permanent solution..
chk wht are the records creating dupicates in PSA first...
the issue with the duplicates are not from PSA previously there are some records in the object itself...
so deleting from PSA will not solve the issue...
chk the data from source tables itself why the wrong data is cmg into PSA like tht...
then u can edit with the correct records in PSA and update the data into target using DTP..
u can create an error DTP for tht so tht it'll be easy to trace the duplicates easily,...
    2. You have the option "handle duplicate reords" in the DTP.
check the box and try to load the data again.
If this is time dependent master data then check also "valid to" as key along with other objects in sematic group option in the DTP.
check this and they try to load the data.

  • Hierarchy  data loading  in sap  bw 7.3 for 0 costcenter-dtp error

    Hi ,
I am loading data from ECC with data source 0COSTCENTER_0101_HIER to BW.For this i have created transformations between info object HIERARCHIES 0COSTCENTER and data source and DTP as well.I have loaded data upto PSA with info package  no issues, while loading data from PSA to hierarchy i got error in DTP like "Node [00000006, 00000010 ]: Leaf ' ' already exists as child of node 00000005 ".
Can any one faced similar issue in BW7.3 ,please share your thoughts
    Thanks,
    Sri.

    Hi Srivardhan,
I too got the same error. This error probably rises if you are entering hierarchy with some characteristics in your infoObject whose data type is numc (character string with only digits).
Instead try using a infoobject with Char as data type. or simply change the infoobject in which u are implementing your hierarchy to char data type.
    And give suitable sufficient length.
    Regards.
