PSA Further Update on Process Chain

I am trying to use PSA Further update step on a process chain.  I noticed that everytime I use this step it is using only one BTC procssors to load the data into datatarget.
On the other hand If I have an Infopackage set to PSA and DATATARGET parallel (2nd option in the Procss tab of IP) in the process chain the load is able to use same number of DIA process as the number of Data Packets.  We have over 400 DIA processors available.
My question is can I able to use multiple DIA processes if I use PSA Further Update step?
Thanks
haran

Haran
I don't think it is using only one DIA for complete process chain. May be for the start processing it is using one DIA and after infopackage loading is started loads will split as per availability of servers and apparantly various DIA's. In general this is how it works.
Check this thread if it helps

    Hi
It seems you used infopack when you select update data inot datatarget then system prompts you a infopack. That's the infopack which is generated by system being used in process chain variant to update data into datatarget.
Create new infopack/ DTP manually then use that infoapck/DTP on the process chain variant then try.

  • Load data from PSA to ODS in Process Chain

    Hi All,
I want to load the data from PSA to ODS. I am using 3.5 Version. I have created the Info Package to load the data from R/3 to ODS.
I just want to load data in the following Condition
    1. Need to load data from R/3 to PSA.
    2. Need to load data from PSA to ODS.
I need to include this two Info Packages in Process Chain.
I dont find any option to load PSA to ODS through Process Chain..
    Pls Suggest.
    Thanks,
    Ram.

    Hi Ram,
You can keep the settings in the infopackage to load data from R/3 to PSA (by giving the settings as PSA and then into datatargets). Specify the option Update in all data targets for which the Rule Exist unde rthe Data Targets Tab.
Then in Process Chian, there is an option by the name REad PSA and Update Datatarget under the node Load Process and Post-Processing in the Process Types.
In the varaint, specify the infopackage name and save the varinat and uise it in the PC.

  • PSA Deletion variant in Process chain

When I add more than one PSA tables in one process step of Process chain would the deletion happen sequentially or parallelly?
In other words, if I have some 20 PSA tables to be deleted, can I put all of them in one step or should I put them in different steps - some 4 or 5 steps - to reduce load on system? (I need to keep only 2 days data in each table).

    Hi,
it will happen sequentially. You can put them in one process step.
However, I recommend to include the PSA deletion systematically in each corresponding chain since you can control it and monitor it better.
    hope this helps...

  • PSA to Multiple Data Targets in process chain

    Hello All,
I am trying to create a process chain that loads data from an already loaded PSA to further targets. (Note that the infopackage to load from R/3 to PSA is in another process chain). I am using the "Read PSA and Update Data Target" process type. But it allows only one data target. I need to push the data to all the targets of that infosource. Do I have to put a process for each target? Or is there a work around? Please help.
    Thank you,
    Rinni.

    Hi Hemant,
Thank you for your detailed answer. I know that it is mostly not practical to have the InfoPackage and "Read from PSA" package in different local chains. However I am facing a situation where I need to create a chain that just extracts all the data from R/3 and loads it till PSA in BW (This is very time critical, so we do not wish to put any other processing in this chain). And in the second chain, we want to put further processing steps within BW. That is the reason, loading from PSA to ODS needs to be in a separate chain.
Another thing is the variant does have a field to enter Data Target, and that shows only the targets of InfoPackage, but allows me to select only one. However, I will go ahead and try with the Infopkg entry as you suggested.
But if you could just elaborate on why you said, I CANNOT have PSA to Targets in a separate chain, I would really appreciate it!
    Thanks again,
    it was a big help!!

  • Error in process chain (psa data)

We have got an error in our PROCESS chain for master data.
    Info object Name : 0customer
In that it was showing  there was error in our request. When I wanted to correct data in the request there it was showing no error records. All the records are good  and  also it is showing as error in request. I have deleted the request from infoobject and also from the PSA. And the last updated good request is also showing error as No data packets available for the request .
0Customer is delta update ; Process chain is daily based.
My doubt is whether the records in the deleted requests will be reloaded again from sap R/3 into PSA, as requests during Process chain or not.
While monitoring the request details in Monitor u2013 Administrator Work bench, it shows the following:
    1.     Requests (messages) Everything Ok
    2.     Extraction (messages) Missing messages
    3.     Transfer (IDocs and TRFC) Missing messages
    4.     Processing (data Packet) No data
    5.     Process chains : Everything Ok.
Even after deleting the requests my process chain is not getting updated.
Kindly help me in solving the above problem
    Regards
    Padma

    Hi,
Once deleted the request, try to manually trigger the load and see whether it completes. if it completes and pulls reocrd then you can push the chain process ahead with the program RSPC_PROCESS_FINISH

  • Delete PSA Through Process Chain

    Hi,
I am working in NW04s. I have few questions related to the subject line. Few are for knowledge enhancement and other are task oriented.
Background:  InfoPackages are created to load data (master and transaction, both full & delta) for InfoObjects and DOS/Cubes. All the 4 options (PSA and then InfoObject, PSA and infoobject in parallel, only InfoObject and only PSA) are used in production.
    Questions:
Q1 (general): Why should we have a process in Process Chain after data load to delete PSA, if we are using PSA and then InfoObject?
Q2 (specific questions): How to include the PSA name in "Delete PSA Request" of a Process Chain when infoPacakge processing is only PSA.
Q3 (specific question): When Data target is not defined in InfoPacakge (but only Data Source and Source System is defiled, and process is "PSA and then InfoObject', then in such case which infoprovider is to be put into "Delete PSA Request" in process chain.
Thank you for reading my questions, and helping me.
    Sincerely,
    S

Q1 (general): Why should we have a process in Process Chain after data load to delete PSA, if we are using PSA and then InfoObject?
Requests in PSA are deleted periodically so as to prevent getting the PSA table bigger and bigger occupying more DB space.
Q2 (specific questions): How to include the PSA name in "Delete PSA Request" of a Process Chain when infoPacakge processing is only PSA.
You can specify the PSA table name, it need not load further targets as it is deleting requests from PSA itself . Loading PSA is good enough for the Delete Request in PSA process type to work.
Q3 (specific question): When Data target is not defined in InfoPacakge (but only Data Source and Source System is defiled, and process is "PSA and then InfoObject', then in such case which infoprovider is to be put into "Delete PSA Request" in process chain.
You can specify the PSA table name, why do you want to Infoprovider name I guess you cannot even do that for this process type.

  • Delete PSA Using Process Chain

I need to schedule some PSA deletes using a process chain and wanted to make sure I'm doing the right thing.
I have MD 0WBS_ELEMT_ATTR and in RSA1 if I click on "manage" I can see my PSA's that were loaded. Yeah, there were 2 different loads.
If I go to RSPC and create a variant to delete this PSA after its 45 days old I look up the PSA and I see the following:
/BIC/B0000782                             Work Breakdown Structure Element (WBS Element)
0WBS_ELEMT_ATTR_DA             Work Breakdown Structure Element (WBS Element)
Using se16 looking up this table: /BIC/B0000782000 it looks like it doesn't have any records so my question would be:
    Is /BIC/B0000782 the PSA?
    What is 0WBS_ELEMT_ATTR_DA?
    Thanks,
    Mike

    OK here are my answers:
    1) You seem to be disagreeing. One says use the /BIC/B0000782 the other says use 0WBS_ELEMT_ATTR_DA in the Process Chain.
I used /BIC/B0000782 in the process chain.
    2) When I look up 0WBS_ELEMT in table RSTSODS using the ODSNAME I see:
ODSNAME VERSION DATETO DATEFROM OBJSTAT ODSNAME_TECH
    0WBS_ELEMT_ATTR_DA 000 9999/01/01 1998/01/01 ACT /BIC/B0000900000
    0WBS_ELEMT_TEXT_DB 000 9999/01/01 1998/01/01 ACT /BIC/B0000541000
these are the internal tables for the transfer rules I guess
    3) /BIC/B0000900000 is the internal table for 0WBS_ELEMT_ATTR_DA correct?
    yes
    4) /BIC/B0000782 which I saw when I was looking up the PSA entry for 0WBS_ELEMT_ATTR is the internal table for the PSA?
    yes
    5) Still confusing is that neither /BIC/B0000782000 or /BIC/B0000900000 has any records.
/BIC/B0000782000 must be the default table for the PSA, and /BIC/B0000782001 did have the same number of records I saw on RSA1 (Manage), and /BIC/B0000900000 is the internal table for the rules
    so we are all good!

  • Process Chain InfoObject

    Hello,
How to create a process chain for An InfoObject???
    Nimisha.

u mean to load master data into an infoobject?
    1.-start variant
2.-infopackage to load data to PSA
3.-process to do further update from PSA to data target.
    4.-hierarchy/attribute change run.
Better not have single chains for each individual MD infoobject.
Have chains like..delta MD daily..full MD weekly..full MD monthly..
kick off MD infopackages in parallel..then map all arrows from PSA further update processes to an AND collector process and then map AND process to a hier/attr change run.
In change run process give the list of all infoobjects u are loading in the chain..
do delta daily.do full uploads weekly and all text uploads weekly.
    cheers,

  • BPM Process chain takes long time to process

We have BI7, Netweaver 2004s on Oracle and SUN Solaris
There is a process chain (BPM) which pulls data from the CRM system into BW. The scheduled time to run this chain is 0034 hrs. This chain should ideally complete before / around 0830 Hrs. <b>Now the problem is that every alternate day this chain behaves normally and gets completed well before 0830 hrs but every alternate day this chain fails…</b> there are almost 40 chains running daily. Some are event triggered (dependent with each other) or some run in parallel. In this, (BPM) process chain, usually there are 5 requests with 3 Delta and 2 full uploads (Master Data). The delta uploads finishes in 30 minutes without any issues with very few record transfers. The first full upload is from 0034 hrs to approximately 0130 hrs and the 2nd upload is from 0130 hrs to 0230 hrs. Now if the 1st upload gets delayed then the people who are initiating these chains, stop the 2nd full upload and continue it after all the process chains are completed. Now this entire BPM process chain sometimes takes 17 -18 hrs to complete!!!!!
No other loads in CRM or BW when these process chains are running
CRM has background jobs to push IDOCS to BW which run every 2 minutes which runs successfully
Yesterday this chain got completed successfully (well within stipulated time) with over 33,00,000 records transferred but sometimes it has failed to transfer even 12,00,000 records!!
Attaching a zip file, please refer the “21 to 26 Analysis screen shot.doc” from the zip file
Within the zip file, attaching “Normal timings of daily process chains.xls” – the name explains it….
Also within the zip file refer “BPM Infoprovider and data source screen shot.doc” please refer this file as the infopackage (page 2) which was used in the process chain is not displayed later on in page number 6 BUT CHAIN GOT SUCESSFULLY COMPLETED
    We have analyzed:--
    1)     The PSA data for BPM process chain for past few days
    2)     The info providers for BPM process chain for past few days
    3)     The ODS entries for BPM process chain for past few days
    4)     The point of failure of BPM process chain for past few days
    5)     The overall performance of all the process chains for past few days
    6)     The number of requests in BW for this process chain
    7)     The load on CRM system for past few days when this process chain ran on BW system
As per our analysis, there are couple of things which can be fixed in the BW system:--
    1)     The partner agreement (transaction WE20) defined for the partner LS/BP3CLNT475 mentions both message types RSSEND and RSINFO: -- collect IDOCs and pack size = 1 Since the pack size = 1 will generate 1 TRFC call per IDOC, it should be changed to 10 so that less number of TRFCs will be generated thus less overhead for the BW server resulting in the increase in performance
    2)     In the definition of destination for the concerned RFC in BW (SM59), the “Technical Setting” tab says the “Load balancing” option = “No”. We are planning to make it “Yes”
But we believe that though these changes will bring some increase in performance, this is not the root cause of the abnormal behavior of this chain as this chain runs successfully on every alternate day with approximately the same amount of load in it.
I was not able to attach the many screen shots or the info which I had gathered during my analysis. Please advice how do I attach these files
    Best Regards,

    Hi,
Normally  index  creation or deletion can take long time in case  your database statistics are not updated properly, so can check  stat  after your data loading is completed and index generation is done,  Do creation of database statistics.

  • Process chain to trigger automatically after file arrives in AL11.

    Hi All,
There is a text file(.txt) which comes from mainframes team every Sunday between 11 AM to 6 PM and gets placed in AL11 inbound directory following which we manually trigger a process chain which uses this file.
The requirement is that this chain should trigger automatically after the file arrives in AL11 in BW.
Is it necessary for the mainframe team to send another control file or some other file in addition to the text file to trigger this process chain..?
Is there any other way the process chain can be triggered in BW without any changes required from the mainframe team.
    Additional information:
Also I came to know that this can happen through some system command statements using SM49 we can schedule this chain.
Else can some ABAP Program code be used to make this process automatic?
    Please help me.

    Hi,
You can do the following, in your process chain change the start variant and make it event dependent. Now you can do the following,
    1) Create a table in SE11 which will have fields like Process chain name and execution date as primary fields. This table will be used further for checking purpose.
    2) Now create a ABAP program as shown in below given article, in this program in addition to raising an event you will have to read the file from app server.
    3) If program can read file from app server means you will raise an event and make entry in above table for preventing further execution of process chain. If program can't read file from app server then program will simply end without doing anything.
    4) Now you can schedule this program after every hour or 30 min. as per your requirement, the program will first check if the process chain execution entry exists in the above 'Z' table or not. If entry exists means the process chain has been already executed and the program will be terminated.
    5) You can use FM to read data from app server. You need to be careful while placing file on app server, because it has to be different naming convention or something else to identify that the current day file is available.

  • Failed meta chain maintenance in Process chain in SAP BI

    Hi all,
I have a Process chain having the meta chain of master data population. When successful , proceeds with the further steps in process chain. It has been scheduled in midnight.
After monitoring the PC , found the error in the master meta chain , so i repeat the step.
Here , after success of meta chain all steps gets running down the line till the end step in PC.
I do not want to re-run the steps below meta chain after repeat step.
Any Ideas to ignore the re-run ??

    Hi,
If your Process is still running(Yellow color status) then right click it and go to Schduled Jobs. On this you will go to Job Overview there you can press STOP.
Else go to the SM37, there you can go and select your process using your process ID and STOP it.
And if you want to kill the complete process chain then go for Remove from Schedule.
Different Ways to stop process chain
    1)SM37 -->Kill Job
    2)SM50/sm66- ->Kill process
3)RSPC>Job Log>Make the process RED forecefully.
    4)RSPC>Process chain> main Menu"Remove from Scheduling" OR
    5)se37-->RSPC_API_CHAIN_INTERRUPT
give RFC BW system name(technical) and process chain name(technical)
Steps 1 -3 stops the chain running in process
Steps 4-5 stops the chain AFTER the current job which is running is completed as sucessful or Failure by nature.
    Hope this helps you.

  • Table for Start and End time of Process Chain

    greetings experts,
    Hi All,
I Have to give an Excel Sheet to Top level manager on Start and End Time of Data Load in each InfoPackage (PSA Load) triggered by Process Chain, please let me know if there is any table who keeps these information.
    Regards
    Sulochan

    Hi,
You can use the program /SSA/BWT to give the Timings of the process Chain runs.
    1) To access this tool Goto SE38 .Type in u201C/SSA/BWTu201D as the Program name and click on execute. The list of all the tools that this Program contents are displayed.
    2) By default the option u2018Process Chain Analysisu2019 is selected. Now click on the execute button. Then you are displayed with the options through which you can select to perform analysis at Process Chain level or Process Type level. (Along with that, the Time Zones used to display the information is also displayed)
3)If you click on the button u2018Process Chainsu2019 a window Pops up, here you need to provide the Chain-ID and/or the Log-ID and the Start Date/Time and the End Date/Time.
4)Decide the parameters to enter as per your requirement, suppose your requirement is to check the runtime of a particular process chain for the past one week, then provide the technical name of that chain in the field Chain-ID and the start and end dates as per last one week and click on execute.
5)Then the logs of the Process Chain for the selected dates are displayed along with the status (Red, Green or Yellow). The logs of the local chains (if any exist in the Process Chain selected) are also displayed (Much more additional information exist which is self explanatory). Now you can have a look at the Runtimes of different logs.

    Suprajah.
