PSA use in BI7

Hi experts,
In BI7 is PSA used only for Data load from Source System into BW? Is it not used for loads going from DSO to Cube or DSO to DSO or Cube to Cube? Is it only DTP used in the later?

Hi,
if the datamart conition exists (CUBE1 --> CUBE2) then you can load from CUBE1 to CUBE2 through DTP and in case if the data is also removed from CUBE1 then in that case you need to pull data from PSA to CUBE1 with DTP1 and once data is loaded to CUBE1 then you need to move data from CUBE! to CUBE2 with DTP2.

This is what I did...
1. use Process type 'Deletion of Requests from PSA'
2. Settings:
Object Type - PSA table
Object Name - <Datasource name>
Older than - 0 (Zero) days
These settings doesn't work. Can you please let me know exact settings to use for deleting all the requests in PSA of a datasource.

How the standard BW3.5 DataSource used in BI7

Hi,
In BI Content, there are huge amount of standard BW3.5 DataSource.
They can be activated from R/3 side and replicated to BI.
Is there anyone know if these DataSources are BW3.x? and if I would like to use the new BI7 transformation technical to these DataSources, what should I do? currently there is an error message when using these 3.x datasource with transformation. for example, for datasource 2LIS_12_VCITM.

Hi,
All the standard SAP datasources in BI content are 3.x datasources. which means that if you only activate them you cant create a transformation on them. Only update and transfer rules are possible. You'll need to install these datasources and then migrate and activate them inorder to convert them to a 7 datasource. To migrate them, first install them, then right click and choose the migrate option.
Also while migrating choose the migrate with export option, so that you'll be able to restore them to the older versions incase of any problems.

Delete PSA Using Process Chain

I need to schedule some PSA deletes using a process chain and wanted to make sure I'm doing the right thing.
I have MD 0WBS_ELEMT_ATTR and in RSA1 if I click on "manage" I can see my PSA's that were loaded. Yeah, there were 2 different loads.
If I go to RSPC and create a variant to delete this PSA after its 45 days old I look up the PSA and I see the following:
/BIC/B0000782 Work Breakdown Structure Element (WBS Element)
0WBS_ELEMT_ATTR_DA Work Breakdown Structure Element (WBS Element)
Using se16 looking up this table: /BIC/B0000782000 it looks like it doesn't have any records so my question would be:
Is /BIC/B0000782 the PSA?
What is 0WBS_ELEMT_ATTR_DA?

OK here are my answers:
1) You seem to be disagreeing. One says use the /BIC/B0000782 the other says use 0WBS_ELEMT_ATTR_DA in the Process Chain.
I used /BIC/B0000782 in the process chain.
2) When I look up 0WBS_ELEMT in table RSTSODS using the ODSNAME I see:
ODSNAME VERSION DATETO DATEFROM OBJSTAT ODSNAME_TECH
0WBS_ELEMT_ATTR_DA 000 9999/01/01 1998/01/01 ACT /BIC/B0000900000
0WBS_ELEMT_TEXT_DB 000 9999/01/01 1998/01/01 ACT /BIC/B0000541000
these are the internal tables for the transfer rules I guess
3) /BIC/B0000900000 is the internal table for 0WBS_ELEMT_ATTR_DA correct?

4) /BIC/B0000782 which I saw when I was looking up the PSA entry for 0WBS_ELEMT_ATTR is the internal table for the PSA?

5) Still confusing is that neither /BIC/B0000782000 or /BIC/B0000900000 has any records.
/BIC/B0000782000 must be the default table for the PSA, and /BIC/B0000782001 did have the same number of records I saw on RSA1 (Manage), and /BIC/B0000900000 is the internal table for the rules
so we are all good!

How to Upload data without using PSA layer

I would like to apply LSA architecture principals.
Is it possible to upload data from SAP source system or NON-SAP source system directly in a Write Optimized DSO without have to use the PSA layer ?
And if yes how ?

Hi Peter,
We donot have any option for skipping the PSA loading in BI7.
If you are working with BW3.5, then yes we can load the data directly without using PSA. Goto IP>Processing Tab> Select the radio button Data Targets only--> When you schedule the IP, data will be directly loaded to Data Target without using PSA.

Differences in DTPs BI7 when compared to InfoPackages in BW3.x

Hi,
What better features are available in Data Transfer Process (DTPs) in BI7.0 when compared to InfoPackages in BW3.5?
Why SAP recommended you must use especially InfoPackage to load data to PSA/DS in BI7.0 why not in other places like to load PSA to DSO, InfoCube? What the best features are there in DTPs to load data?
What DTP type is recommended the most and why? Could anyone help me in this.

In 3.X infopackages are to upload data to psa and data targets.
In 7.0 now Infopackages are using to load data upto PSA only
DTP is to load data from One Bi object to Other Bi object
I.e Data source --> data target or Data Target --> data target
which replaces the DATA MART concept
we have 4 type of DTP
1. Standard DTP
2. DTP for Realtime data acquisition (RDA)
3. DTP for Direct data access(virtual provieders only)
4. Error DTP(if get any errors ,while loading data to the data targets)

DETA IN BI7

Can any one send the screen shots ,how set up delta in BI7.is it in infopackeg level or in DTP level.if i is in infopack level shall i need create 2 infopcks.(one for full & secon for delta) r 2 Dtps?

In BI 7 data will come upto PSA using infopackage and to load further u need DTP.
U can have Delta in both infopackage and DTP.
first u have to bring the data to PSA using inti update and from PSA to data target using DTP delta. Then u can change the infopackge to delta update. and let the DTP in delta itself.
If u doing a full update then in infopackge choose full and also choose full in DTP.

Loading of flat file (csv) into PSA – no data loaded

We have an issue regarding loading a flat file (csv) into PSA using an infopackage u2013 (BI 7.0)
The infopackage has been used for a while. Prior the consultants with SAP_ALL-profile have run the infopackage. Now we want a few super users to run the infopackage.
We have created a role for the super users, including authorization objects:
Data Warehousing objects: S_RS_ADMWB
Activity: 03, 16, 23, 63, 66
Data Warehousing Workbench obj: INFOAREA, INFOOBJECT, INFOPACKAG, MONITOR, SOURCESYS, WORKBENCH
Data Warehousing Workbench u2013 datasource (version > BW 3.x): S_RS_DS
Activity: All
Datasource: All
Subobject for New DataSource: All
Sourcesystem: FILE
Data Warehousing Workbench u2013 infosource (flex update): S_RS_ISOUR

As mentioned, the infopackage in question, has been used by consultants with SAP_ALL-profile for some time, and been working just fine. When the super users with the new role are executing the infopackage, the records are found, but not loaded into PSA. The load seems to be stuck, but no error message occurs. The file we are trying to load contains only 15 records.

Error While Loading_0co_om_cca_9 to DSO Using DTP

My Client BMW Inc is using the CCA Data Model, using Datasource 0CO_OM_CCA_9 now when I create the DTP Full or Delta to load from PSA which successfully loaded by INFOPACK. DTP Throws the error NO_DS_LG_Found
and Program used is SAPLRSSTATMAN. i am not able to load the DSO from PSA using DTP. Please help me how to resolve this issue. Since this model is standard content. Please help me what is the problem in loading DSO from PSA.

We are already on Support Package 13, Please suggest if there is any particular SNOTE That need to be applied even after SP 13. I am unable to load the data from PSA to DSO.<b>While Loading_0co_om_cca_9 PSA Data to DSO Using DTP.</b> Please help me resolve this urgently. Process Chain : Read PSA and Update Data Target in BI 7.0

Hello Experts,
In my Process Chain I have a variant Execute Infopackage to load the data only into PSA. then I have next variant as *Read PSA and Update Data Target*. my data target was a Master Data table Hierarchy
In the variant " Read PSA and Update Data Target". the selection Parameters were
PSA.Table : 0GLACCEXT_T011_HIER_BA1
Selection Object Type : same Infopackage in Varaint Execute Infopackage
the Error message was Variant doesnot contain a valid combination request/data target
I checked the PSA-Table using RSA1OLD Transaction then I find four PSA Tables:
0GLACCEXT_T011_HIER_BA1
0GLACCEXT_T011_HIER_BA2
0GLACCEXT_T011_HIER_BA3
0GLACCEXT_T011_HIER_BA4
All the requests are linked to PSA Table *0GLACCEXT_T011_HIER_BA4*.
I can't understand why there exists four PSA Tables?
I try to link the PSA-table 0GLACCEXT_T011_HIER_BA4 in the variant *Read PSA and Update Data Target and try to save it it raises short dump.
If I select 0GLACCEXT_T011_HIER_BA1 in the varaint I shouldn't face any problems.?
but the process chain raises an Error message Variant doesnot contain a valid combination request/data target with this variant.
How shall I handle this issue?
Please carify me the issues as soon as possible.

Hello,
In the Variant Read PSA and Update Data Target I have to select the PSA Tabelle Name from the preselection list in the System it shows me all the four PSA Tables that I mentioned.
I can select any one of them. So I trieed with all the four PSA Tables in the list but I can selct only the XXXX......BA1 table then only I can save and include it in the PC. If I select the remaining tables BA2, BA3, BA4.........while I try to save the Variant it raises short dump.
I checked the PSA using the Transaction RSA1OLD under PSA...... I find 4 PSA Tables( I don't know whether they are PSA Tables or not but in the Variant it states that they are PSA Tables) in which all the requests are attached to BA4. only.
I observed that ony for Hierarchies I find four PSA tables for remaining one only one PSA table was available.
I totally confused how to handle this situation. any suggestions......... please help me to resolve this problem.

I transported Master Data ATTR/TEXT object from DEV to QA (BI 7.0 NW 2004s); and getting the following error while loading the data from R3 in to PSA using the InfoPackage.
Any clue to resolve this issue is appreciated.

Diagnosis
An error occurred in the source system.
System Response
Caller 09 contains an error message.
Further analysis:
The error occurred in Service API .
Refer to the error message.
Procedure
How you remove the error depends on the error message.
Note
If the source system is a Client Workstation, then it is possible that the file that you wanted to load was being edited at the time of the data request. Make sure that the file is in the specified directory, that it is not being processed at the moment, and restart the request.

The l_dta data target that you want to load is an InfoObject (master data or text
table).
You must declare this for the InfoProvider in Transaction RSD1.
You do this on the 'Master Data/Text' tab by assigning any InfoArea to the InfoObject.
The InfoProvider (that is, this InfoObject) is then displayed below this InfoArea in
the InfoProvider tree.

I had a look at the Excel integration section of the BI 7 Features and found the some new enhancements for Excel.We are planning to upgrade to BI7 and want to get some expert opinions
1. Excel Formulas allow access to any cell of the result set.
2. combining Excel formulas and Excel Formatiing allows the design of high end formated solution workbooks.
Can anyone explain me the difference between the Excel features in BW3.5 and BI7,with some real time examples.
Does it mean that we dont need any macros to execute some of the calculations or if there a different use in BI7?
Can i use all the features in MS Excel 2003?
Can I use the Existing Bex Browser and create new BI7 workbooks or do i need for Enterprise portal?

Problem in uploading data to psa.

Hi experts,
im having problems in uploading data to psa using info package in HR info area.
while monitoring the info package the following error comes with red traffic signal..
Request still running
Diagnosis
No errors found. The current process has probably not finished yet.
System Response
The ALE inbox of BI is identical to the ALE outbox of the source system
or
the maximum wait time for this request has not yet been exceeded
or
the background job has not yet finished in the source system.
Current status
No Idocs arrived from the source system.
So , please help me in this regard...

You may need to check for pending TRFCs/IDOCs in source system in Tcode SM58 and BD87 and process them manually.

Error while loading data into PSA from data source

Hi Experts ,
I am loading purchase order history data from standerd datasource 0SRM_TD_CF into PSA using infopackage.However,whenevr I run infopackage,the call monitor shows the status as yellow.I monitored the process for half an hour but it never ended.I have verified following things from my side.
1.Checked whether datasource is properly replicated into BI system.
2.Checked if source system contains data.
3.Since i am loading transaction data,I have kept update as "initialize delta process"
Please let me know whether I am missing anything.

Do the following steps
1)Check the job log in source systems.
2)Check the Data Source in RSA3(Extracter checker) on Source systems side.give DS name press enter then execute,If there is no issue with DS,it will give pop-up with records.If it has any errors first rectify it and then load it again.
3)In details tab of IP,check whether extraction completed or not.
4)Are you running the IP with option "Intialse with data trasfer" or "Without data transfer"
If you running with data transfer and without data selection,usually it will take time based on the volume of historical data.(to find how many records it picks do the 2 step)

Errors during Loading TD from Flat file to PSA

I got some errors while loading the flat file transaction data into PSA using infopackage.
Could you guys can help me to solve the below errors. It would be more appreciated if you guys could send some material which tells about these types of errors more detailly.

Field /BIC/ZIO_PRIC ( Position 4 ): External length specification will be ignored
Message no. RSDS101
Diagnosis
The value 23 is specified as output length in Field /BIC/ZIO_PRIC ( Position 4 ). It is also specified that the data is shipped in internal format.
System Response
The length specification for output length is ignored. If the data in the source actually have the specified lengths, this results in conversion errors.
Procedure
Select the external format if required.
Field /BIC/ZIO_PRIC ( Position 4 ): Amount field in internal format; check settings
Message no. RSDS099
Diagnosis
Setting made for Field /BIC/ZIO_PRIC ( Position 4 ) states that the data from the source is available in the internal format.
This is not usually the case for this source system type.
System Response
If you do not change this setting, the data has to be available in the internal SAP format.
Example:
For the Japanese Yen this means: 1000 JPY has to be delivered from the source as 10.00 JPY.
Procedure
Check the data format of the source and where necessary, change the setting to External.
Field /BIC/ZIO_PRIC ( Position 4 ): Missing reference to currency field/unit field
Message no. RSDS151
Diagnosis
If an amount or quantity field is not delivered with values in internal format, an associated currency field or unit field must be specified so that the currency or units can be converted during data import.
System Response
The DataSource can not be activated.
Procedure
Specify a reference field if the data is delivered in external format.
Specify a reference field even if the currency or unit is constant. Fields with fixed values are not part of the data source; they are filled by the system when loaded.

Hi JUergen.
The order of the fields are same as datasource. I didn't make any field for amount in a flat file as it is defined as fixed currency usd when i created a key figure. i don't think so we have to create a field unless we take 0currency is a unit for price instead of fixed currency.
Though we got the above error, it still allows activates the datasource but the 10.00 usd shows as 1000 usd.
