PSAPI.dll problem in oracle installation soa_windows_x86_101310_disk1

During 98% of the installation, it prompted the following message
"the procedure entry point GetProcessImageFileNameW could not be located in the dynamic link linrary PSAPI.dll"
I am on window XP and Explorer 7.
Does it matter to ignore the message and continue on the installation process.
I did try this route - meaning ignore the message but it seems I am not able to launch my BPEL console control properly.
I run some window tools noticed that
javaw.exe is running psapid.dll from ....Temp\OraInstall2008-04-18_09-28-41AM\psapi.dll
Is this correct ?
How does it get the copy of psapi.dll ?
I have a copy of psapi.dll under C:\WINDOWS\system32
Anyone has any idea how to resolve this problem ?

Yes, you cannot ignore the error message during installation because Oracle requires this dll file for the Oracle on Windows installation. Check to make sure that you have correct permissions granted for the Oracle installer to write to the Temp directory.

  • Problem getting Oracle Installer to pop up

This should be an easy one for some of you. I've been trying to
install Oracle8i 8.1.6 on RedHat 7.2 but when I mount the cd and
issue the command ./runInstaller, i get a message saying the
java virtual machine is being initialized... please wait. But
then absolutely nothing happens after that point. Not even an
error message. (also tried 8.1.7: same thing) I thought that the
display setting might be the problem so I issued:
    export DISPLAY=localhost.localdomain:0.0
but that didn't solve the problem. I'm thinking maybe i don't
have the correct name of my machine. How can i identify the name
of the machine or even the IP address of the machine? Some
people have suggested that it might be a problem with java
components and told me to download and install jdk but if that
was the problem wouldn't i get an error message of some sort. It
seems to me like the initialization is fine the Oracle Installer
interface is just not being displayed on the screen for some
reason. Then again someone told me that pentium 4 processor
might be the culprit of the whole problem. I'm not sure what to
think anymore.I have been thinking too much my head is about to
explode. Someone please help me with this, I have been on this
for weeks and still can' get passed this first step. A big thank
you to anyone who can help solve this problem.
    Peace.
    Toneman

I can4t pop up Oracle Installer also, with some variants:
    * I tried to install Oracle9i with RedHat 7.0, and 256 MB RAM.
    * I got the "please wait" message, but in this case a core
    dump file is generated.
    * This is the weird stuff: I tried Oracle 9iAS Release 1 and
Installer's behaviour was ok, but trying Oracle 9iAS Release 2
    failed
So, I'm skeptical about installing JDK. I don't think you can
    solve it on this way.
Also, I don't this that DISPLAY env var was the blame, but
maybe you can write a small GUI Java application and try it with
command "java xxxx". I guess it gonna work and confirm my point
    of view.
I have seen many message about differences between CD
distribution (my case) and download one on all products. Maybe
you should try with another product (lower version) or got the
same from another channel. Also you can search for possible core
dump files, usually in /tmp filesystem. In such case, maybe you
(i mean, we) need more RAM

  • Symcjit.dll problem on Windows2000 - Installation of 8.1.6 fails

    Hi,
I've seen a lot of reference to the JIT dll causing problems
    with P4 chips.
I'd just like to make note that it can (but not always) cause a
    problem on P3 systems.
I've confirmed the problem on Windows 2000 Pro and Windows 2000
Server, using P3 733MHz system with 256 MB RAM, installing
    Oracle 8.1.6 Enterprise Edition.
The exact problem seems to occur when the OUI tries to launch
    the Database Setup Assistant.
Just for the sake of being complete, the solution that worked
    for me was:
    1. Copy the entire CD to the HD.
    2. REMOVE (or rename, doesn't matter) the offending file
    (symcjit.dll)
    3. Run Setup.exe
Contrary to other posts on this site, no other modifications to
any other files were required. Your mileage, of course, may vary.
Wow.. what a frustrating 3 days.

    Sorry Eric,
I posted this as a notice, and never came back. :)
But since I did leave it vauge, I'll answer the question for anyone else that comes along.
The file version (obtained by right-click and Properties, Version tab) for the 8.1.6 install is:
    3.10.0.107
    and is 410 kb.
And the other part: No, you don't need to replace the file. Simply deleting it forces the installer to use a regular java interpreter from the jre on your system, the one currently being used by the Universal Installer perhaps (?), rather than the JIT one you have just deleted.
It's such an easy fix and appears to cause no problems, I wonder why the installer makes a switch to using it, half way through the install.
p.s. The reason I came back here is because I need to perform a second installation on a different box, and I had bookmarked this page. :) For once, I was thinking ahead.

  • Problem with oracle installer

    Hello,
i try to install Oracle production Release on SuSe 5.2.
I can't start the installer because an error message
unknown terminal variable if i start orainst.
    My environment looks like
    ORACLE_HOME=/app/oracle/....
    TERM=vt100
    ORCALE_TERM=vt100
    so it seems good.
    The tk2vt100.res files are okay!
Does somebody got the same problem ?
    best regards

You may want to check the spelling of ORACLE_TERM. If you cut
and pasted from your environment then it is misspelled.

  • Oracle Installer Crash running ODTwithODAC10202.exe

Can someone please help asap with the following problem? It sounds like it might be related to the psapi.dll problems others are having.
I installed the Oracle Dev Tools about a month ago on my Win2K workstation and have been using ODP.NET with no problems since.
I now need to reinstall ODT from scratch, so have run ODTwithODAC10202.exe, which successfully unzips files into /install and /stage. I'm then launching /install/setup.exe. This is when the problem occurs.
A command prompt appears stating all installer requirements are met, then the Oracle Universal Installer window appears for about 2 seconds, before disappearing without a trace. Digging into C:\temp I found a file called hs_err_pid2052.log which was created at the time the installer crashed (see content below).
What is happening here? C Shay - I would like to follow your advice re reinstalling the JVM, but there doesn't seem to be any obvious way to do so. Bear in mind I have admin privileges on my box, but Add/Remove Programs is not available to me.

Did you compare the checksum of your downloaded file with the checksum mentioned on the download page?

This resolved my problem as well. I am on Windows 2000 server, SP2. The problem installing Oracle 8.1.7.0.0 standard edition exhibited itself by briefly changing the cursor to an hourglass and then returning to ready. The executable JREW.EXE would briefly execute in processes and then stop.
I copied the installation media to a server drive and renamed symcjit.dll and the installer worked correctly.
Thank you to Yugandhar for this solution.
We too faced some of those problems ie setup.exe wont even run in Windows XP pro, p4 system..the culprit is symcjit.dll. Its the problem in p4 to run this dll. After lot of research, just rename it and all is set to go.

I will appreciate any help, and sorry for my english.
    Jorge,

    Hi Ramana,
Thanks for your post. The file is already located in C:\windows\system32. When the installer send me the message i checked with Process Explorer and the version that the installer use is the one located in the temp directory of the installer.

  • Installation problem with Oracle 8.1.7 on Mandrake 8.1

    Hi all,
I am trying to install Oracle 8.1.7 (Rel 3) on Mandrake Linux 8.1. I changed all the parameters, tested everything, created the users (oracle & apache) and groups (oinstall & dba) as per the documentation. I downloaded the Oracle's "tar" file from the Oracle's web site. I unzipped that in "/shared" directory on my PC. I changed to "/shared/Disk1" directory and gave "./runInstaller". A window is opening with the following buttons.
    About
    Deinstall products
    Exit
    Help
    Installed products
    Previous (disabled)
    Next
Only "About" and "Deinstall products" buttons are working. None of the other buttons are working. When I press "Next" nothing is happening.
Could anybody help with this problem. I really appreciate it.
Thank you very much in advance,
    Murali.

    Hi all,
This problem got solved. Its very silly thing. Number lock should be off, when you are running Oracle Installer. It worked for me. (This is for Mandrake Linux 8.1)

ur problem is that u install latest version and now u trying to installing old version.
now u need to uninstall 10g and delete oracle from services, if the probleme presist then u should
    install fresh windows 7.

SaqibNo need to install a fresh OS. That's like tearing your house down just because you wired a lamp wrong and blew a circuit breaker.
There are MeaLink notes on how to eradicate an Oracle install from Windows, but it boils down to this:
    Stop all Oracle services
    In the registery:
    - Delete all oracle services from the register (HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet
    - Delete the entire Oralce folder from HKLM\Software
    reboot
Delete the ORACLE_HOME directory and any other Oracle related directories/files. Offhand, it seems like there is an Oracle directory under Program Files.
    reboot

According to your instructions I started vncserver at Linux box. Now from my windows workstation I want to connect to linux. Can you recommend a good vnc client. I google and saw mostly vnc software is for windows. I tried TightVNC Viewer but I dont not connecting to the linux server. Once I provide the IP for Linux server It is giving me the errors that it could not find any vncserver. On linux I am running the vncserver. From my windows box I can ping the Linux server.

  • Problem using oracle.dataaccess.dll

    Hi,
I have an web application which uses Oracle.DataAccess.dll to communicate with and Oracle db. The web application deployed on 32 bit windows system works but not on windows server 2008 64 bit. I installed 10204_vista_win2k8_x64_production_db package, referenced the installed dll (version 2.102.4.0) from the project but I get the following error:
Could not load file or assembly 'Oracle.DataAccess, Version=2.102.4.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89b483f429c47342' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    I had this problem too.
I have not found any way to get ODP to work on a 64 bit machine. I have gone through more than 30 permutations of install combinations and all have their problems.
    Your's is one I remember.
The error message does not give a good description of the problem. It CAN find it, but it can't load it.
The main problem in my opinion is that Visual Studio is a 32 bit app and so are its tools. MS will say that is no big deal because they don't want to rewrite native code sooner than they have too. It is going to stay that way for 2010. Visual Studio is going to load a .dll to connect to Oracle in server explorer and in any datasets you have created with the designer...its going to use a 32 bit .dll now your application wants a 64bit .dll... see the problem? I beleive that when you install the ODP registry settings are made for viual studios sake, but I don't know what happens under the hood.
Does visual studio give you any option at all to choose what assemblies to use for the IDE tools? nope
I have tried 32 bit client, 64 bit client, ODACwithODP and every combination of them in every version oracle offers on their download site. Nothing worked 100%.
    I got
    1) "cannot load file x" when x is at the specified path
    2) BadImageFormat exception
    3) App worked but visual studio tools crashed the IDE
    4) installed all 3, but used the old system.data.oracleclient and tools worked sluggish or crashed.
You can also combine the problem of Oracle provider along with the fact that 1/2 of Visual Studio's tools don't care about 64 bit programming. For example, I made a wcf service that as going to access my database. Well, guess what you can't use Visual Studio's WCF debugger because WcfSvcost.exe is 32 bit. Will it give you an informative error message? nope. Just a BadImageFormat Exception with no clue which file is causing the problem. spent a week of precious time on that one and thought it was an oracle provider issue.
I have given up using ODP for now and am forced to use (4) System.Data.OracleClient just for the sake of getting any coding done at all instead of hacking my environment. It sucks. I got that working by installing 11r2 64 bit client in one home and 11r2 64bit client in another, then ODP in a 3rd. That way I can still use more friendly tools made for Oracle and let VS use the 32 bit client with the old System.Data.OracleClient dll.
If anyone has the magic step but step to get both a working IDE with its tools remaining functional along with a working application on Windows 7 64bit, than please please let me know!
