PSC 1210 draft printing problem - horizontal split

Have had the 1210 some yrs now.
Op System is Windows7.
About a yr or so ago a problem cropped up every time printing in draft mode. Before that Windows7 and the 1210 were being used with a new computer for several months with no problems.
The printing program in Windows offers printing options of "fast draft","normal", and "maximum".
In fast draft several lines on a print-out page are split horizontally across the entire line. I.e., the top half of the characters shifted left relative to the lower half. There does not seem to be any consistency wrt the number of OK lines between the split lines from document to document.
In normal and maximum mode the printing is fine.
Anyone have a solution or suggestion for this problem? Thank you for reading this.

I couldn't help but notice this fast draft skewed printing seems to be narrowed down to Windows 7 drivers. I am going to redirect this thread over to the most recent one and anyone who is still having this problem can go to the thread titled: Fast Draft Printing Problems. I hope I can help although this seems like it is quite a few years old. Bear with me while I research this and if you are still interested in assistance you can select the Kudos star and I can track how many are still having this problem.

HP PSC 2510 duplex printing problem

Hi,
I have just installed a new Archlinux computer and configured my HP PSC 2510. However I can't print in duplex mode.
I have installed cups and hplip and configured with the correct driver the printer (the one proposed by cups ...2510...)
I have entered the config correctly, checking duplex installed option in options, and fixed A4 autoduplex as default paper and long edge for duplex mode.
When I open an openoffice document, and I want to print it, if I check the properties, everything is ok except duplex option that is fixed on 'Off'.
I then edit it and fix 'long edge'. I accept and recheck if option is fixed right, but 'off' is shown again!
Even if I try to print, duplex is not used anyway.
I have googled the problem and haven't found nothing so far.
Has someone any idea how to solve the problem?

HP deskjet 3050 J610c - draft print problem

Hi,
I have just bought the above mentioned printer and noticed that when I copy something the resulting printout is not in draft mode and so uses a lot of ink. I have gone through all settings, even on pc, and have not found a way to set the copy print setting to draft. Is there a way to set the printer to always print in draft mode?

I can print in draft on my deskjet 3050, but I can't set the copy function to draft mode. I've searched manuals, printer settings on computer and printer, internet, and all I can find is posts similar to this.
And so I have the same problem - excess ink consumption, and the paper is messed up because it's soaked with ink.
Had I known it doesn't do draft mode copying, I doubt I would have bought the printer. Almost all my printing and copying is done in draft mode. I'm really annoyed. I'd rather feel stupid though - if someone could point out how to set the printer to produce copies in draft or low quality mode.
Funny, HP advertises this printer as being environmentally friendly ... "ENERGY STAR® Qualified" they say whatever that means. I don't think wasting ink is particularly green.

How can I fix a check paper error on the HP psc 1210 all in one printer?

I have verified there are no paper jams, paper is loaded, print cartridges move freely and rollers are clean. Is there a a paper out switch that can fail?

Installing software for my HP psc 1210 all-in-one printer on to my Mac?

I have downloaded new software and drivers for my all-in-one printer. I am running OS X 10.5.2 on a 20" 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. The computer recognises that a printer is present and I can print with no problems. The problem that I'm having is with the scanner function. I don't think that the HP software is registering that there is a printer present. When I go into the HP setup assistant no printer comes up in the selection window. When I go into Printer & Fax via system preferences the HP psc 1210 series comes up as the default printer. I've had this problems before but cannot remember how I rectified it. I'm sure it got something to do with erasing the driver's off the computer and starting over again. Can anyone please help me or point me in the right direction. Thanks

HP psc 1210 all-in-one printer and Mac OS 10.9 (Mavericks)

I just installed the new OS X (Mavericks) on my mac yesterday, and now my printer, an old but reliable HP psc 1210 all-in-one, will not install. I was previously running OS 10.6 (Snow Leopord) and had no problems with the printer. Is there anything I can do to install my printer on the new OS? My computer doesn't even recognize that there is a printer connected via USB when I try to install it... is there anything I can do?

HP psc 1210 all in one printer - Printing photos with Green Hue

Hey folks,
it used to work fine, now for no apparent reason, it is printing out photos with a strong green hue. They all come out looking very green and yellow.
I have done several things - i have downloaded and updated all printer software and drivers, i have ran all printer calibrations and cleaning programs, i have accessed Macbook utilities folder and ran all colorsync utility's such as repair and adjust hue. What is going on here? I am completely stumped with this one.

What application you are scanning from? is it Paint or Windows fax and scan?
Can you see the same behavior while using any of those options?

My HP psc 1210 all-in-one, suddenly stopped printing any text. it will print the graphics.

I believe I have tried everything. The HP psc 1210 series all-in-one refusses to print text. nor will it scan or copy. I have done all the troubeshooting that I can find. Still will not print from PC or copy. I think it will scan to the computer. Icon with gray circle around it, states it is offline, yet from the control panel, printer and faxes, shows it as being online and ready. What else can I do to remedy this problem? Thank you in advance.

There may be 2 separate issues here.
-For the offline portion, check this document out:

-For just printing graphics, this would make me think that the Black cartridge is empty/low on ink/malfunctioning. Try printing a black and white picture. That would let you know if it is the cartridge or not.

PSC 1210 page feed before and after printing

My PSC 1210 has been working fine for years but it has just recently started feeding a blank page before and after printing. That wouldn't be a problem except that the blank pages are not fully ejected, this means that I have to grab the first blank page, as it comes through the printer, and pull it out, otherwise it gets drawn back in causing a paper jam when the actual print job starts. Once this blank page has been removed the print job continues perfectly.
This occurs when printing documents, copying using the scanner, and printing a test page.
I have removed and reinstalled the printer driver/software and performed a partial reset on the printer, neither fixed the problem.

I see you mention that the issue also happens when you are copying, that means that this issue is not related to your printer software. So that's good to know!
Now, since this is not a software issue, this must then be related to your hardware. Is this printer plugged into a wall outlet directly or is it plugged into a surge protector? To be sure that the printer gets all the power it needs make sure that it is plugged directly into a wall outlet.
First things first, I would recommend unplugging the printer for about 30 seconds from both the back of the unit and from the wall outlet, and then plugging it back in. Try making a copy or print and see if the issue persists.
You can also try cleaning the paper feed rollers in the printer, here is a document that can show you where all of those are located and how to clean them.

Can't add my HP PSC 1210 Printer

Hi,
When I try to add my printer it says "Can't install the software for the Hewlett-Packard psc 1200 series because it is not currently available from the Software Update server." But both Apple and HP say that the HP PSC 1210 are supported. I've tried intalling some HP driver package for Mountain Lion but it still gives the same problem. I need my printer connected soon. Cheers.

I haven't even added it yet, so I can't delete it. It won't let me add it. When I try to add it, it says it has to find and install the software, so I click ok, and it comes up with a thing saying that it's "finding the software" but then it pops up with the above error message. I tried installing the HP driver package that was recommended in another discussion, but it still won't add it.
To be honest, I think I'd rather go and get the drivers myself because then I'd be able to get the printer drivers. Letting apple control the whole process hasn't been particularily helpful to me in the past. I've had several printers that it "couldn't find the driver" for, but were listed as supported. Most frustrating.

How do I configure my AirPort Extreme to allow printing from my Macbook to an HP PSC 1210?

I currently have an AirPort Extreme [model A1354] connected by cable to an iMac [3.2 GHz i3 / 10.6.7]. I have an HP PSC 1210 series "All-in-one" printer attached to the USB port on the AirPort Extreme. Printing from the iMac works just fine. However, I cannot print from my Macbook [ 2.4 GHz Intel Core Duo / 10.5.8]. While the printer shows up when I go to "Add a printer", I still cannot print to the printer. When I hit print, the print window closes, but nothing prints.

Unfortunately, not all USB printers are compatible with AirPort base stations. In addition, the AirPort's USB port does not support the "advanced" printer functions, like scanning, copying or faxing, of multi-function printers.
To see if your printer is compatible, take a look at this iFelix Unofficial AirPort Printer Compatibility link. If your printer isn't listed, it doesn't necessarily mean it won't work, but simply that it has not been verified. iFelix also provides the following workaround for printers not on the list that would certainly be worth a try.

Finally, check out this IBM support article to see if your printer is listed as having a Postscript or PCL3 interface. If it does, then it will most likely work with the AirPort's USB port. Printers that use the "HP LIDIL" interface must be connected to a computer directly and will not work.

At this time there are no HP drivers available for this printer for Windows 7. You can still use the printer with Windows 7, you will just have to use the drivers available within Windows 7. That document will walk you through what you need to do in order to get printing again, and will also show you how to scan with this Windows driver.

Setting up to print to an already Windows-shared HP PSC 1210 printer

I have an HP PSC 1210 (All-in-one) printer that is already attached to a Windows XP Pro based PC, and being shared over a home wireless network created with a Belkin wireless router. I just bought a Macbook and wish to connect to this shared printer to enable the Macbook to correctly print to the printer.
I have already tried going to System Preferences -> Print & Fax -> -> More Printers...
Selected Windows Printing and found the printer on the network, but I can't specify the correct Printer Model. It does not list the PSC 1210 under the HP option.
The printer works fine if it is directly connected to the Macbook via USB.
I have searched the discussion boards already and have come across some posts referring to hpijs, EPS, and Ghostscript, but all of the links have either lead me to dead links, source code, or I read documentation that says my model of printer is not supported. Also I have read somewhere that the PSC 1210 was never supposed to work via the network...only through direct USB connection.
I'm looking for anyone who might know if it is possible for me to connect a Macbook to this networked printer (shared or standalone) and what I need to do, whether it is software or buying hardware (i.e. an airport express unit). Please don't tell me to just look at other posts, because I have already and I've pretty much exhausted them.

I am not able to find and Install driver for my HP PSC 1210 All in One printer in my Windows 8.1 64 bit machine. Though i have search in HP site and install the driver installation wizard still the problem persist.
