PSC 1315 "The print cartridge carriage is stalled."

I have been using this printer for a couple years. Last week everything was fine but now when I try to print, I get this error message: "The print cartridge carriage is stalled."  I have not changed the ink cartridge, I have not moved the printer, nothing on my computer changed, I use XP and have since I bought the computer. But all of a sudden I now get this message. It wont let me print, if I try to reset the printer, it goes back to this message. I then bought all new ink cartridges (HP brand) and get the same message.
Any suggestions?

    Hi geny,
I understand the cartridge door latch has broken.
I will be happy to help you.
This is a older model so you might not be able to get that part replaced.
I have provided the HP Parts Surfer. It doesn't look like a replaceable part.
If you can get it to connect and tape the door shut so the printer recognizes the door is closed, you might still be able to still use the printer.
    Hope this helps.

  • Changing the printer cartridges for a HP laserjet 2840

Having a problem with the wheel not going to the next cartridge...there is a message on the display saying "incorrect yellow" but the yellow cartridge has been taken out and it will not go to the next slot. I am out of warranty and need my printer can anyone help??

I have a similar problem, maybe its the same for you, im my case the printer broke down because the cyan ink cartridge was not properly placed on the printer. An error of “Incorrect Yellow” was prompted on the printer screen because it was the yellow cartridge that ended up on top because the cyan ink got stuck at the bottom. What I did was I opened the printer and lifted the lock for the ink rotator. It’s located on the right side of the rotator if you were facing the printer. It’s a silverish metal in between the group of gears. I lifted it up using a screw driver. I was able to rotate back to the improperly placed ink cartridge and replace it back. properly. When latched properly the printer worked again. I’ve placed the top cover back and its ready for printing again. I got the instructions on how to open the top cover in the link below

  • Trouble inserting all the print cartridges in new pro-100

i inserted 7 print cartridges in the print head, then the print head moved all the way to the right.  how can i get the last print cartridge in the print head?

Try putting ink lid down, turn printer off, turn printer on, let printer initialize and then open lid again. That should move head back to center.

  • PSC 1315v "Check Print Cartridge" error

After printing, my printer started displaying this error. I bought new cartridges and cleaned the contacts, but nothing seems to be working. I'm a little peeved, because I would hate to throw out $75 worth of ink. Ideas?

I have the exact same printer and I'm having the exact same problem.  It doesn't even let me scan anything, which is very odd because scanning shouldn't have anything to do with cartridges.
next time buy the ink on ebay - some places sell the ink for $30 with free shipping (I think maybe because it's recycled?).

  • Deskjet 895Cse Printer Cartridge Stall

We have had this printer for quite sometime now and it has run perfectly.  However, the printer cartridge has stalled in the far right bay area and will not disengage.  There is no paper jam, and the unit functioned after an ink cartridge replacement for several print jobs.  Even tugging on the drive belt does nothing to help the problem.
When I looked on the HP trouble shooting guides, it had a link to information for a fix however the page is blank.
    Any ideas?

    @chrishy ,

  • Print message print cartridge cannot move because of paper jam but the paper jam has been cleared.

My Envy 4502 printer message window says that the print cartridge cannot move and to clear any paper jam obstruction.  There was a paper jam and I cleared it but the message "the print cartridge cannot move and to clear any paper jam obstruction" remains there and I cannot remove it or get the printer to print.  I tried everythng listed in the troubleshooting section of the help guide in the software.  I uninstalled the printer and then reinstalled it which didn't help  in the slightest--the message about the print cartridge is still there.  I also tried unplugging the printer overnight (to try to clear the memory)  and this also did not help--that message is still there.  By the way, I can easily move the printer cartridge by hand and I can hear the cartridge moving when the printer attempts to work.  I would appreciate any help from anyone to get my printer to  work again!

  • Can you refill printer cartridges in the newest printers - i.e. the HP Deskjet 3055a

    Hi,
I'm thinking of purchasing a HP Deskjet 3055a - (unless anyone can think of a reason not to!) - and was wondering whether you can refill the printer cartridges, so that I don't have to buy a new cartridge every time one runs out. Is this a good printer and are the cartridges refillable?
    Thanks,
    David

    Hello,
You can refill the cartridge, but personally I would'nt do so. This could end with the ink system failing.
To answer your question, yes you can.
You can also follow this document, which explain a little more.

  • Pc2510 Check Right Printer Cartridge/Not Supported/Hourglass Errors

    Hello!
If anyone has had success resolving these errors, please let me know, even if it has meant replacing your print cartridge. Thanks!
    Error Description:
Original problem: The printer cartridge error message "Check Right Printer Cartridge" is blocking any use of the psc 2510, including scan and nonprinting noncopying functions.
Current problem:Hourglass freeze accompanied by printer sounds (alignment?) which stop, but screen message never advances past hourglass..
    Summary of Troubleshooting:
I received an error saying: check cartridge in right stall. Tried cleaning contacts on printer cartridge and printer contacts with distilled water. In process of employing other tactics in online tutorial, I tried unplugging power while the printer was open. Ever since, it just runs through hourglass and printer sound, but does not advance past this screen icon.
    Customer Technical Support:
Suggested a semi-reset of # and 6 keys plus unplug and replug or try new print cartridge. When asked if there was anything I could try before purchase of a new cartridge, suggested I unplug and hold power buton for 10 seconds, then replug. (Full description of these at bottom). Upon further research, representative suggested an upgrade.
Hourglass fix attempts employed from forums:
Tried to plug into wall outlet vs. power strip. (Fully plugged in loose connection to brick when noticed was not in all the way.) Reset modem. No results.
    What I Haven't Tried:
Have not tried a new printer cartridge until have exhausted all non-monetary fixes.
    Full Description of Troubleshooting:
The first error: check cartridge in right stall occurred suddenly after problem-free use.
The contacts on the black cartridge were cleaned but the error persisted.
After disconnecting use for a time, I reconnected last night to troubleshoot printer cartridge error on current Mac machine. Installation was completed successfully.
The same error occurred once setup was complete.
    I performed the following:
    1) cleaned contacts on black cartridge using distilled water.
    2) unplugged power cord (per post in forum)
    3) unplugged power cord and tried pressing cancel/left arrow (per same post in forum)
    4) cleaned contacts behind black cartridge on printer
    5) removed black cartridge, closed machine and got insert black cartridge error (attempt to determine which cartridge was the problem)
    6) Even though this message appeared to indicate the black cartridge was the problem (per web support article) I cleaned the contacts on and behind the color cartridge as well.
In the course of all of this trouble shooting I got a second error: "Print cartridge in right stall not supported."
I noticed that the fit is looser than in the color cartridge. I inspected the spring and cartridge area for damage and found none. Cleaned dirt however below contacts on machine.
Also, at one point during the trouble shooting I was able to get to the scan menu but then it quickly reverted to the first error message.
    7) Per general support article online, I tried unplugging the power while the lid was opened (as indicated during cleaning of cartridges.) This information was not in the manual that came with my machine. I was hoping this might reset things.
Then I got the third error: a period of sounds of the printer (alignment?) followed by hour glass on screen.
The 2510 appears to be frozen. No buttons like cancel or menu or on button caused any response.
I unplugged it again (this time with the lid closed) and got the same series. A period of sounds like alignment and then a halt of sounds with the hourglass still on the screen.
Customer Service Rep sent the following:
    Email 1:
    1.      While the printer is powered on, without turning it off, unplug the power cable from it.
    2.      Press and hold the # and 6 keys together and while you are holding them, plug the power cord into the printer
    3.      Hold the keys for about 30 seconds, while the printer tries to power on, and release the buttons.
    4.      If the printer turns off, use the on button to power on the printer, and follow the instructions on the display.
If it still comes up with the same error, I request you to try with a new black cartridge and get back to us with the results.
    Email 2:
    1.      While the printer is powered on, without turning off the printer, unplug the power cable from it
    2.      Press and hold the on button for about 10 seconds and release it.
    3.      After about 1 minute, plug the power cord back and try powering on the unit.
The reason I suggested to try with a new cartridge is because whenever the printer powers on, it does a self test to make sure all the hardware components are working fine, which includes the cartridges. So if there is any error with the cartridge, then the printer might freeze if it is unable to determine the cause of the issue or the point of failure.
    Email 3:
I did some research and the issue seems more likely with the hardware of the printer.[...]
If the issue persists, get back to us with the information below for upgrade options for your printer.
    Forums:
I then tried unplugging from power strip into wall outlet and resetting modem without result. Noticed blue light for wireless connection is no longer on.

I had the same issue with my 7610 (error=print cartridge not installed correctly), and tried some of the listed suggestions - opened up another brand new cartridge - same issue; put the old one back in - same issue.  So I knew it wasn't a defective cartridge, but rather something wrong with the spring that supports the cartridge, because it didn't seem to 'click' in correctly anymore.  Compared the spring on the black (right) side, to the color (left) side, and saw the spring hanging down.  Put it back in place a couple times - still without success - until I looked closer and saw that part of the plastic that holds the spring in place must have just broken off.  Tried t a little piece of tape to hold the spring in place, and finally, the cartridge worked - for now.  Hope this helps someone else if they're having the same issue.  Good luck!

  • Check print cartridge - won't print

I have an HP1317. I have just replaced the black cartridge so it should work fine but just get 'check print cartridge message'. I've taken both out several times and put back. I've turned off power and re-booted. I've tried everythin I can think of but still message appears. H E L P!

    Hello @paulhoward,
    Welcome to the HP forums.
I understand that you are having a problem with your PSC 1317 accepting the new ink cartridge.
    I would like to help.
The following document should help with your issue.
    Check Print Cartridge Light Blinking
You have already completed steps 1-3, so I am posting step 4-5.
Step 4: Clean the problem cartridge contactsIf the light is still blinking, clean the electrical contacts by the procedure below:
Gather the following items to clean the cartridge and print carriage:
Clean distilled water. Use bottled or filtered water if distilled water is not available.
Clean cotton swabs or any soft, lint-free material that will not stick to the cartridges (coffee filters work well).
Remove the cartridge and place it on a piece of paper with the nozzle plate facing up. NOTE:Try to clean the contacts quickly enough that the cartridge is not outside of the printer for more than 30 minutes. The ink can dry and clog the nozzles if the cartridge is outside of the printer for too long.
    Unplug the printer.
Dip a swab in the clean water, then squeeze it to remove most of the moisture. The swab should only be slightly damp.
Clean the print cartridge contacts. The illustration below shows these contacts. Avoid touching the nozzles.
Figure : Clean the print cartridge contacts
Clean the contacts in the print carriage, inside the printer. The illustration below shows the carriage and the contacts.
Wait ten minutes to allow the cartridge to dry, then reinstall the cartridge, plug the printer back in, and close the cartridge access door.
    Figure : Print carriage
Figure : Clean the gold-colored contacts in the print carriage
Step 5: Repeat reseating and cleaning steps
If the print cartridge light keeps flashing, repeat steps 3 and 4 above.
Step six is to replace the ink cartridge or call HP.

  • PSC 2175 not printing with Windows XP

    Hello,
This printer has worked great since the first day with the setup below, but I cant figure this out.
    Setup
    Connection using USB
    O/S windows XP sp3
System is connect to ATEn KVM Switch USB.
windows share with other  windows machines.
    Issue
The printer goes to print, but feed the paper instead.  All computer on the my home network do the same with Windows xp, except windows vista which print.   The printer is shared through windows xp.  The testing software from Hp is able to print and it comes out find. The alignment test comes out fine, but thats it. It seem the drivers right, but I DON'T KNOW!!!
    Solution tried.
Reinstall the drivers from HP. download, uninstalled the printer software, restarted windows xp, installed the new download drivers. BUT STILL THE SAME PROBLEM. Confusing issue.  The Mac Mini with OS 10, prints out of it. no problem. both the Mac Mini and Windows XP box are plug in the Kvm switch. It sound like a driver problem, but they have just been reinstsalled on the windows machine. The vista laptop uses the windows xp box to use the printer.
Its a great little printer, need help in understanding this problem.  By the way Mac Mini print out great on it.
    signed confused, but hopefull

The hp status icon in th status bar says "Your hp psc 2170 series is ready.", The test page acts as if everything is fine, but the printer select the page and feeds correctly, the printer heads passes twice on the top of the page, then the page is feed through without  printing anything.
I tried the hp Services " Open the hp toolbox"  the following has been tested and work .
    Calibrate the device Ok
clean the printer Cartridge not tested
    Print a test page  ok
    Print a Diagnostic page ok
All printing out the usb, but the test page of windows does as mentioned above.
Just making sure, both the Mac and windows box are setup on the kvm switch and have been like that for over a year. The usb that the printer is connect to is the kvm switch, which is switch over to the active system.  I really seem like a driver problem.
    Appreciate any insights.

So please tell me  do i need to purchase a new black cartidge, will it work? or what shoud i do ?

    Thanks
    Nirmal

    Hi @nirmal007,
Welcome to the HP Support Forum!  I understand you're having cartridge issues with your HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 5525 e-All-in-One Printer.  I would like to assist you with clearing up that error state and have some troubleshooting steps that may resolve the issue.
I recommend you try the following steps before you consider purchasing a new black ink cartridge.  Firstly after you've confirmed that your ink levels are not the problem (example - the level is above 10%), try a 'hard reset':
    Secondly:
Make sure that the ink cartridges are properly vented and seated correctly
If the vent on the top of the ink cartridge is clogged or obstructed, the ink cartridge might not work properly. Follow these steps to make sure that the ink cartridges are properly vented and seated correctly.
Press the Power button to turn on the printer, if it is not already turned on. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before continuing.
Open the cartridge access door. The carriage moves to the access area.
Figure : Open the cartridge access door
Press the tab on the front of the cartridge inward to release it, and then pull up on the cartridge to remove it from the slot.
Figure : Remove the cartridge from the slot
Examine the vent area on each cartridge, above the HP logo on the top of the cartridge.
Figure : Vent area on the top of the cartridge
If the cartridge still has the orange pull-tab attached, pull to remove it.
    Figure : Orange pull tab
If the vent is clogged, use a straight pin to gently remove excess adhesive from the vent.
Figure : Clean the clogged vent with a pin
    Clogged vent
With a straight pin, gently remove excess adhesive from the vent
    Unclogged vent
With the nozzle and contacts facing down, slide the cartridge into its slot. Press down on the cartridge until it clicks into place.
note:Make sure that each cartridge is installed in the correct slot. Match the shape of the icon and the color of the cartridge with the slot that has the same shaped icon and color.
    Figure : Reinsert the cartridge
Repeat these steps to inspect the vents on each of the cartridges.
Make sure that each cartridge is firmly in place in its slot. Run your finger along the top of the cartridges to feel for any that are protruding, and if any are, press down firmly until each cartridge snaps into place.
    Close the cartridge access door.
Figure : Close the cartridge access door

Thirdly, try cleaning your cartridge contacts:
Manually cleaning the print cartridge contacts
Follow the steps below to manually clean the print cartridge contacts:
Gather the following items to clean the contacts:
Distilled water (tap water may contain contaminants that can damage the print cartridge)
Cotton swabs or other soft, lint-free material that will not stick to the print cartridge
    Open the print cartridge door.
Remove the print cartridge and place it on a piece of paper with the ink nozzle plate facing up.
     caution:
Do not to touch the copper-colored contacts or the ink nozzle plate with your fingersFigure : Do not touch copper-colored contacts
caution:Do not leave the print cartridge outside the printer for more than 30 minutes. Ink nozzles exposed to the air longer than this may dry out and cause printing problems.
Lightly moisten a cotton swab with distilled water and squeeze any excess water from the swab.
Gently wipe the copper-colored contacts with the cotton swab.
caution:Do not touch the ink nozzle plate. Touching the ink nozzle plate will result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections.
Repeat steps 4 and 5 until no ink residue or dust appears on a clean swab.
Insert the print cartridge in the printer, and then close the print cartridge door.
    Source
If you've tried all of the above noted steps and you're still unable to use the black cartridge, you may need to pick up a new one.  Let me know if this helps.  Best of luck!
