Psc 2175 windows 7 64 bit - stopped printing

I have an HP PSC 2175 all-in-one printer/scanner/copier. I use an HP Spectre 13 ultra book w/ Win7 Pro, SP1. Windows says the driver is working, printing to port USB001 (virtual printer port) The printer used to work fine, then it stopped. I suspect a windows update broke the driver somewhere, but since the driver is now bundled with the OS I cannot uninstall and reinstall. All I can do is remove the printer and then re-add it, which hasn't worked.
The symptoms are that when printing from Word or PDF a few lines might print in huge font across the top or bottom of the page, and a bunch of blank pages spit out. Using HP Print and Scan Doctor it says it's going through fixing errors, but the test page spits out 2 blank pages. Windows test print spits out 3 pages, 2 blank and one with a single line in huge font across the top. Printing a test print from Notepad also produces 2 blank pages.
Now even Devices and Printers under Control Panel is unresponsive. I'm submitting this, I guess I'll reboot. If anyone has any suggestions I'd appreciate it.
Thanks

  • WIndows 7 64-bit system printing to a Windows 2000 server configured as a print server

Is there any way to configure a new Windows 7 64-bit computer to use a Windows 2000 server configured as a print server ?
The printer that I would like to connect to is an HP 4240n LaserJet. I appears that there is only a 64-bit Universal Print Driver available. The server currently uses HP 32-bit PCL5e or PCL6 drivers for all other connected computers. Connection is through a Hewlett-Packard Network Port, using DLC/LLC transport for the embedded 4240n print server.
Installing  the HP 64-bit UPD to the WIndows 7 64-bit system, and then attempting to redirect the local port to the Win2k network print server has not worked.
    Thanks for any advice.

    Hi:
    See if this works...
    Run msconfig.
In the System Configuration screen, Boot tab, Advanced Options, if there is a check mark in the box next to Maximum memory. Remove that checkmark and save your changes.
Reboot and hopefully Windows recognises all the Ram ( minus the reserved ) after restarting.
Please give that a try, and post back and let us know if that frees up some system memory for you.

  • Laserjet 4 - C2001A, Windows 7 64-bit, Not printing

I have a C2001A (Laserjet 4). I had it completely rebuilt a year ago as it is a great machine. My previous computer started having problems, so I bought a new one with Windows 7 (64 bit), and now the printer does not respond. I bought a USB to parallel cable and followed all of the various directions from the HP site and the Windows site to no avail. There has to be a solution to this problem...what is it? Please help! The printer works fine with Windows XP on my old computer.
I also tried deleting the driver, hooking up the cable, turning on both units, and the computer recognized a new device and downloaded a driver. When I tried to print, the printer didn't even blink. This is the same result I had with all of the other things I  tried. Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.

The product you have seems to be a commercial printer. For the best chance at finding a solution I would suggest posting in the forum for HP Business Support!
You may find the Commercial Laserjet board here.

  • Connected Deskjet 6940 to computer with windows 7 64 bit, duplex print will not work?

I have a Deskjet 6940 model C8970A. The Duplex printer function does not work. It will manually ask me to turn around all the pages to print on the other side. Before it would print front then back of page at a time.  I have Windows 7 64 bit on the new computer.

    Hi,
The Duplex Unit is disabled by default, make sure to enable the accessory as following:
Enter Control Panel > Devices and Printers
Right click the HP Deskjet 6940 icon, then click Printer Properties.
    Select the Device Settings tab.
Set the Duplex Unit as Installed, click OK.
Now set Print On Both Sides as Automatically from the Printing Preferences Dialog.
Please let me know if you may still experience any issue,

  • How do I get Windows 7 64 bit to print to a Agfa 9400

We have upgrade our computers to Win 7 64 bit & neither my PC Maclan or Postscript will install. I need Appletalk for the network protocol "talk" to the rip and the postscript level 2 to be able to install the printer.
I haven't found any answers on the net.
    Is this hopeless?
    Chris

I'd say it was very unwise to upgrade the computer's OS. These RIP support devices should be treated as packages, and checked for support with the vendors. They can be fossized as a whole, but not upgraded out of sync. I say this without knowing what product you are trying to install because "PostScript" isn't exactly a product.
But, go back now! Or ask the vendor.

  • My HP psc 1210 all-in-one, suddenly stopped printing any text. it will print the graphics.

I believe I have tried everything. The HP psc 1210 series all-in-one refusses to print text. nor will it scan or copy. I have done all the troubeshooting that I can find. Still will not print from PC or copy. I think it will scan to the computer. Icon with gray circle around it, states it is offline, yet from the control panel, printer and faxes, shows it as being online and ready. What else can I do to remedy this problem? Thank you in advance.

There may be 2 separate issues here.
-For the offline portion, check this document out:
    Printer is offline
-For just printing graphics, this would make me think that the Black cartridge is empty/low on ink/malfunctioning. Try printing a black and white picture. That would let you know if it is the cartridge or not.

    Can't Print/Connect from Windows 7 64 bit to Shared PSC 1315 on Windows 7 32bit Machine...
I tried to install driver on connecting PC, i tried to install printer as Local printer with local port - \\WIN7-32bit\HP PSC 1310 Series\ - and  i got access denied, and before i reinstall Windows on 64Bit machine its worked correctly... anyone know how to solve this problem ?
    *Edited*
When i connect it on 64 Bit machine printer requesting driver *.inf and not specific file...
i try to install 64bit driver on 32 bit machine in sharing options and they didn't support it...

More than likely, you are receiving the access denied error because there may not be a HomeGroup in place.
To handle networks securely with Windows 7, Microsoft took a different approach.  A HomeGroup essentially creates a trust among all the devices in that home group.  If a device is not in that homegroup, then that system will essentially be denied access.
Click on Install a printer on a home network to get basic steps to install a printer in a network environment.
Click on HomeGroup: recommended links to get more information about Home Groups, including setting one up.

How do I stop pop up that asks me, Do you want to save changes to doc... before closing? I have made no changes only printed the file. Using Adobe Reader DC, Windows 7 64 bit.
This is very annoying and we need this stopped as we have made no changes to any of the adobe files. Please advise how to do this.

I first tried the version without the deflated stream (so everything uncompressed) against the online repair tool to check/analyse it @ https://www.pdf-tools.com/osa/repair.aspx
And it says no error found, but the reader still want to save it when closing so i still had no clue at this point.
Fortunately, i finally found what was wrong with my generated PDF.
In my xref table, each object reference was not end by a full EOL, i only did put a newline char.
Now i have "carriage return" "newline" which is the full EOL and the reader is happy and close the file silently.
As suspected i did not follow correctly the specs on xref table
Now i'll go and figure what i did wrong with the deflate filter
    Thanks for your help.

After two months, HP2600n suddenly stopped printing in Windows 7 system 64-bit--why?  No error mes, no system changes.
I tried reinstalling the drivers, changing USB ports and cables, printing from Notepad, and disconnecting the  printer.
My computer will not let me uninstall the driver software, and I tried downloading the software upgrade to do that.
Printer works with computer running XP.
I am guessing that I need a driver upgrade.
    Which one?
    Thanks, whoever!

  • Windows Printing w/ HP PSC 2175, prints, but settings are weird?

I have an hp psc 2175 printer connected to a PC computer running on XP on my wireless/wired network. (I have a linksys wireless-g router; i connect wirelessly, and the PC is hooked in through one of the four ports on the back WRT54G). I am trying to set up windows printing so that I can print wirelessly through it. I have already set it up without any problems on three other PC laptops and they all print fine. I had initially had some problems with my mac, but then I downloaded the hpijs and ESP ghostscript from http://www.linuxprinting.org/macosx/hpijs/ , however, now that it does print, it is as if it is using three times the ink on each page!! Every page that prints from my computer is as if the words are allin bold. This does not happen from any of the PC laptops, just from my Powerbook. Is there anyway I can change the settings on the remote printer, or what should I do??
    Thank You

    oh-oh. Danger, Will Robinson! Danger!

This is because HP's Windows drivers support sharing over the network. (Most of them do, anyway. Some don't. But the printers which can't be shared over the network usually have some kind of a warning in the fine print on the box or on the online blurb.)
    I had initially had some
    problems with my mac,
This is because HP's Mac drivers do NOT support sharing over the network. (There are exceptions, but most HP inkjets don't do OS X sharing out of the box.) Note that HP does not warn Mac users about this.
    but then I downloaded the
    hpijs and ESP ghostscript from

however, now that it does print, it is as if it is
using three times the ink on each page!!
That's strange. It's not supposed to do that. There's something set funny in the printer setup.

The HPIJS drivers use CUPS and GhostScript. That means that you can play with the settings (IF you know what you're doing!) from the CUPS printer page on your Mac. (Open a web browser, type in http://127.0.0.1:631/.) This site may be of some assistence. <http://www.cups.org/> This PDF file may also help. <http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/lunixpanther/chapter/ch05.pdf>
    And then there's this: <http://www.mandrake.demon.co.uk/Apple/osxprint.html>
Note that you'll have to be handy with the command line to use either of the last two.

  • Can't install Solution Center on Windows 7 64 bit to PSC 5140 printer shared from XP computer.

I recenntly got a laptop with Windows 7 64 bit installed.  I have a HP Photosmart C5140 All-in-One printer installed on a Windows XP desktop as a shared printer.  I am able to print to the printer from my Windows 7 laptop without a problem.  I want to install the HP Solution Center app so I can scan, etc from my laptop.  When I try to install the Solution Center on the laptop, it starts the install process fine but then gets to the dialog where it wants to know how the printer is connected.  The only options it provides is direct connected (USB) or network connected.  I choose the network connected option.  It asks for the IP address of the printer which isn't available since it is installed on the XP machine using USB.  I have tried using the standard MIcrosoft fully qualified network name (can't remember the technical term right now) for the XP computer where the printer is installed (i.e. \\computer_name\printer_name) but it still won't allow me to continue with the Solution Center install.  Possibly this type of install is not possible?  I thought I did something similar a year or so ago with a Vista laptop I had.

  • HP PSC 2175 stopped printing from computer

I have an HP PSC 2175.  It's worked just fine until the other day.  Now it won't print anything from the computer.  I can print a test page from the printer itself, but it won't print a test page went sent from the computer.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers.  Tried rebooting both my computer and printer and nothing happens.  I use Vista and the printer is connected via USB.  Not sure what the issue is, but I NEED my printer to work!  Any suggestions?

I am struggling with the same problem with my HP2355. I was in touch with HP support with a Mac expert. He told me that there are no driver updates available for this all in one product and he told me to look for an open source driver (sic!). My all-in one is printing and copying, but he doesn't make a scan since I upgraded my Macbook Pro to Leopard. The only thing I (you?) can do is waiting for versiontracker to come up with an open source driver. PC people (Vista) had the same problem, it is a small consolation, but I bought yesterday a Canon (inktjet printer) instead of a HP. HP for sure knows how to retain customers. good luck Gerard.

  • PSC 2175 not printing with Windows XP

    Hello,
This printer has worked great since the first day with the setup below, but I cant figure this out.
    Setup
    Connection using USB
    O/S windows XP sp3
System is connect to ATEn KVM Switch USB.
windows share with other  windows machines.
    Issue
The printer goes to print, but feed the paper instead.  All computer on the my home network do the same with Windows xp, except windows vista which print.   The printer is shared through windows xp.  The testing software from Hp is able to print and it comes out find. The alignment test comes out fine, but thats it. It seem the drivers right, but I DON'T KNOW!!!
    Solution tried.
Reinstall the drivers from HP. download, uninstalled the printer software, restarted windows xp, installed the new download drivers. BUT STILL THE SAME PROBLEM. Confusing issue.  The Mac Mini with OS 10, prints out of it. no problem. both the Mac Mini and Windows XP box are plug in the Kvm switch. It sound like a driver problem, but they have just been reinstsalled on the windows machine. The vista laptop uses the windows xp box to use the printer.
Its a great little printer, need help in understanding this problem.  By the way Mac Mini print out great on it.
    signed confused, but hopefull

The hp status icon in th status bar says "Your hp psc 2170 series is ready.", The test page acts as if everything is fine, but the printer select the page and feeds correctly, the printer heads passes twice on the top of the page, then the page is feed through without  printing anything.
I tried the hp Services " Open the hp toolbox"  the following has been tested and work .
    Calibrate the device Ok
clean the printer Cartridge not tested
    Print a test page  ok
    Print a Diagnostic page ok
All printing out the usb, but the test page of windows does as mentioned above.
Just making sure, both the Mac and windows box are setup on the kvm switch and have been like that for over a year. The usb that the printer is connect to is the kvm switch, which is switch over to the active system.  I really seem like a driver problem.
    Appreciate any insights.

  • Adobe PDF Printer not working as print driver; 9.5.5 (pro) with Windows 7, 64 bit

I have installed, repaired, uninstalled and re-installed Acrobat Pro 9.5.5 on a newly formatted SSD with Windows 7, 64 bit on my desktop machine. The program was installed from Acrobat Pro 9.0.0 and updated within the program. I have the program also installed on my laptop, and the Adobe PDF Printer driver is working properly on my laptop.
On my desktop with the newly formatted SSD, the Adobe PDF printer driver is not working. Note that I am using the printer driver, and not any pdf creation techniques within MS Office or other programs.
When I go to the Adobe PDF printing preferences on my desktop, I only get a generic, two tab window open. When I print a file to this printer on my desktop machine, I do not get a window opening that asks where to create the pdf or what to name it, and I never see any files created. In MS Word, the Create PDF option under the Acrobat tab works and opens a dialog to ask the name and location to save, and then opens a PDF Maker progress window and properly creates the file. I can also save a file as an .eps or .ps file and use Distiller to create the pdf. However I cannot get the Adobe PDF printer driver in my Devices and Printers to work properly, although it works just fine on my laptop with the same program (Pro 9.5.5) and same Windows version (7, 64 bit).
Repairing, uninstalling and re-installing does not solve the problem. Acrotray.exe *32 process is running. Any ideas on why this won't run properly on my desktop, but will run on a similarly configured laptop?
On my laptop, I get a full, (7) tabl menu with all the normal options:

I found this answer from Deepak Chauhan on another forum, and it solved this problem!
Try this to add Adobe PDF printer manually on Windows 7, and Windows Vista.
If windows 7 is Enterprise or better edition: (Admin rights required)
Start>search for printmanagement.msc and open the print management module
Expand the print server and expand the computer name to see availbale printers, drivers and printer ports.
    - from printers ensure there's no Adobe PDF printer, if there is delete it
    - go to ports and delete the PDF ports (the ones ending in *.pdf)
    - go to drivers and delete the PDF converter.
Take note if any errors occur, but continue with the following steps regardless.
If on windows 7 home edition, just goto start>Devices and Printers and ensure PDF pritner is not listed.
Then open the registry (if any erors deleting these keys happen, see below)
    1: go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Print\Printers
delete any adobe PDF printer subkey present
    2: go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Monitors
delee the PDF port monitor if present
    3: go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Printers
again delete and pdf printer subkey
If any erros occur, you need to set the owner of the key to the currently logged in admin user, then ensure that user has full control.
Do this by right-click the key and selecting permissions, clicking on advanced, then the owner tab.
Once you've all that has been done, open a command line as administrator.
Copy and pate the following commands in order
    1: net stop spooler
    2: rundll32.exe setupapi.dll,InstallHinfSection AdobePDFPortMonitor 128 C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Acrobat\Xtras\AdobePDF\AdobePDF.inf
    3: net start spooler
    4:rundll32.exe printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /if /b "Adobe PDF" /f "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Acrobat\Xtras\AdobePDF\AdobePDF.inf" /r "Documents\*.pdf" /m "Adobe PDF Converter"
That should set back the pdf printer.
This seemed to provide the link that provided the Adobe PDF Settings tab to the Adobe PDF Printing Preferences that was missing!
