Jim,
In general, the answer is "probably not".  A lot of the software packages that used to run way back when XP was a "current Operating System" are no longer around -- or at least the same packages are not supported in Windows 7 and beyond.
The following applies: Upgrading HP Photosmart Essential or HP Photosmart Studio to HP Photo Creations
The new software replacement may not have the editing capabilities that you were used to.  If this is the case, you might consider it time to purchase a software that does have the ability to manage your photos in the manner desired.
Some camera software support sites might supply or offer for purchase some editing software.  I know Sony offers some really nice, free software for its camera; no doubt other brands offer something as well.
You might consider PhotoShop - it is not free nor cheap; it works well and you can buy the basic package for around $100 US.
If you need new Full Feature Software for your printer, see:

I hope this helps.

Printer not printing in color. I accidentally removed HP photo and imaging from the computer, how do I get it back?

Please read this post then provide some details.  What printer model? What operating system? Generally you could reinstall the full featured driver which would reinstall the Photo and Printing program.

  • Can't open Photo and Imaging gallery - 6 year old 1350 printer, running XP

Model 1350C printer running on XP without problems for 6 years.  Today Photo & Imaging Gallery won't open.  Error Message "Program encountered an unexpected error.  the type initializer for HP.CUE.  Gallery Image Manager Keyword threw an exception."  Have no idea what this means, or what to do.  Any ideas.  Printer works great, but I can't use the scanning functions

Should I try doing that before I try the Archive and Install?
Running DU from the HD will not allow you to repair the HD, but it will allow you to Verify the HD to tell if you need to boot from the Install disk to actually Repair it.
Should you need/want to do it from the Install Disk...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Also, if I try Archive and Install, will it delete all of my personal files, too, or will these be carried over?
If you use A&I and choose the Preserve Users & Settings, it should just replace the OS' files and leave all yours intact. About the only way it could fail is Power Failure during it, (make sure Laptops have AC power during A&I or Repairs, , updates, etc.), Bad Disk/Directory info to start with, or flaky RAM or some such odd thing.

  • Setting up aliases for css and images directories

    Hi
Another beginner question. I am using R2 on Linux.
I am setting up a portal wherein I would like
to reuse many of the HTML web pages from an existing
website within a Portal framework. If you have any
suggestions from experiences like this would be
    helpful to me.
I have uploaded all my images to ...portal/images
and uploaded my css style file to ...portal/css
What I need to do now is set up aliases (ENV variables?)
    on a system-wide (or portal-wide) level
    /my_images/ -> ....portal/images
    /my_css/ -> ...portal/css
so that in my HTML code I don't have to have a
    hardcoded pathname.
I am not a DBA so I have asked the DBA who set up
my 9iAS Portal about this but he says he is not sure
where this should be set up. He said there is an apache
httpd.conf file, but doesn't think that would be the
correct place to define these aliases.
    Thank you for your advice.
    Kiirja

The image alias is held in the portal.conf file on the middle-tier at /<oracle_home>/portal/conf/portal.conf
I may have a simpler solution. All R2 default images (for the middle-tier) are located at portal/images. I made a folder under images which I'll call my_images for this example. These images can then be called as follows:
    <IMG SRC="/images/my_images/image.gif">
You can create a custom CSS, place it in the Apache document root directory /<oracle_home>/Apache/Apache/htdocs and then call it from an HTML-based simple text item you place at the top of a portal page. It's not W3 spec, but it works with IE 5+ and may work with other browsers.

    MacBook Pro OR iOS Device?

  • Pictures and images are enlarged

Safari is beautiful and I'd like to adopt as my default but on my 1920 x 1200, 147 pixel/inch widescreen display all of the images and photos are "inflated" beyond what their pixel size definitions naturally produce on other browsers such as IE and Firefox. They are unnaturally large in both dimensions by comparison to my "normal" browsers. IE used to present this problem and I had to find and turn off the "IE stretch" switch in the Windows Registry in order to avoid its attempts to "help" high resolution screen users. Does anyone know if Safari has such a switch or a parameter which would allow "true pixel" display of photos and images?

The Firefox image is at http://img166.imageshack.us/img166/8739/firefoxviewlu9.jpg.
The Safari image is at http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/7210/safariviewet5.jpg
You will see the difference in picture/image sizes between the two browsers. Firefox and IE display this and most other websites identically. Safari displays all websites with "enlarged" images. Thanks for any help you can provide.

  • How can I remove all photos and directories from iPhoto?

How can I remove all photos and directories from iPhoto as if it was a brand new install?
I am new to iPhoto and was unaware of how it works, honestly I still am a little confused as to when pics I am using 1/2 the time, some from iPhoto and some from MyPics.
Anyhow, I am looking to remove all photos from iPhoto because during the migration of all my photos from PC to MAC, somehow my timeline became messed up and all my photos that have been logged my dates since 1998 are now all messed up.
Although all my year folders are still in tact, IE 1998-2006, the subfolders and like pics are all intertwined somehow.
And when I search iPhoto for a given year, photos from 2,4, 8 yrs back show up in 2006.
Anyhow, I have selected and deleted all photos and folders within iPhoto, and then import the desired photos from MyPics, only to have the photos double up in the library. ( The old ones that should be deleted and the new imports)
I simply don't get it, they fill the trash and disappear when it's emptied, then reappear when iPhoto re-opens!
    Can someone help????
I have completely reworked all my photos so that they are all in the correct folders outside of iPhoto, and now I want to import those and only those pics with that file structure.
    IE Structure = YEAR > MONTH > DAY ( or if needed) > DAY/EVENT

Do you want to remove the existing full sized image files also? If so then just drag the iPhoto Library folder from the Pictures folder to the Trash and empty it. But be warned you'll lose all of your image files.
You are dragging the files to the iPhoto Trash bin and then using the iPhoto->Empty Trash menu, right?
In copying your photos to myspace and then back the original capture date may not be retained and then either the created date or modified date will be used by iPhoto. If the files in the current library are the originals from your camera then those have the best chance of retaining the correct Captured Date. You can check that out by dragging the Originals folder from your iPhoto Library folder to the desktop and then trash what remains of the iPhoto Library folder. Then launch iPhoto and it will ask you to create an new library. Then import that Originals folder and it's subfolders by dragging it into iPhoto's open window. You'll keep the same rolls that was. The roll dates may change but you can check the captured date of the files by using the calendar in the Source pane.
You won't be able to keep your folder structure within iPhoto. Each outside folder will result in a roll with the same title as the folder. You'll be able to create folders in the Source pane to put albums inside. You can create a smart album to include all photos in a certain date range, line one month.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

  • Tried to reinstall iPhoto library from external hard drive, it shows that the photos and events are there but there are no thumbnails and if you click on an image or video nothing comes up.

My hard drive crashed recently and we took it to apple to get repaired. The apple employees said that they would have to replace the hard drive but they didn't have the equipment to get the data off my hard drive. So I took it to a computer store who had the right equipment after a month and a half of waiting they finally got all the data off my hard drive and put it on an external hard drive (Seagate Expansion Portable Drive). I then took it back to apple who replaced the hard drive. Now I'm in the process of reinstalling everything. I have never done a Time Machine back up or backed my laptop up to . Which I now will do very often once I've reinstalled everything. I have reinstalled all of my desktop images and folders as well as my iTunes library with no issues. However when i went to reinstall my iPhoto library it came up blank. I then Rebuilt the library several times and this was the result.
It shows that the photos and events are there but there are no thumbnails and if you click on an image or video nothing comes up.
Please help i have three years worth of images from holidays on here and would be devastated if i lost them.

iPhoto cannot find the thumbnails or the original pictures.
Go to your iPhoto Library in the Pictures Folder.
Right-click on it and from the resulting menu, choose 'Show Package Contents'.
This will bring you inside the iPhoto Library package. There you should see a Folder called Masters. Within that, there should be folder containing your actual photos.
    Are they there?

  • When I am trying to package my artwork in Adobe Illustrator CC, it is not capturing my images and fonts. How do I make sure my linked photos and fonts are captured?

When I am trying to package my artwork in Adobe Illustrator CC, it is not capturing my images and fonts. How do I make sure my linked photos and fonts are captured?

Not all fonts can be packaged depending on their licensing. Some fonts are set to not allow packaging. For those you would have to manually locate them on your computer and add them to the folder where the packaging occurred.
For the images have you checked the "copy links" option?

  • HT201302 Old iphone 3g has photos on it. When I plug into my imac iphoto and image capture only bring up photos in the camera roll. There were more photos on albums and photo library on the iphone that arent showing up in iphoto and icapture.

My old iphone 3g has photos on it. When I try to get the photos off and onto my imac iphoto and image capture only bring up the camera roll. I have more pictures that arent on the camera roll there are albums and a photo library full of pictures that I want off of this dang phone. I have tried everything and I cant email them to myself because the service has been cut off of the phone. They are stuck on the phone there is there any way to get them off? Am I missing something.

The iphone is not a storage/backup device.  It simply mirrors the selected content of the computer to which it is synced.
Again, the photo sync is one way.
Did you fail to maintain a backup copy of your old computer?
Not good.  You can e-mail the photos from your iphone.  You do not need to have phoe service for this.  The iphone uses wi-fi.  The photos will never be of the original quality, as they are reduced when synced to iphone.

  • Should I see photos and other images on iPad Notes ?

    Using OS X Mountain Lion.
I use Notes to keep all sorts of stuff including photos and snippits (clipped from web). The notes sync to my iPad via iCloud but I can't see the images - just a paperclip which does nothing. Am I demanding more from IOS Notes than it is supposed to provide?

I have the same question. I've been trying to figure this out too. The clippings show up in Mountain Lion, under notes, but not on the iphone. Only the paperclip...Just want to know if I should keep relying on Evernote for this...Thanks

  • Photos App and images that have no place data

I am considering moving to the Photos App from iPhoto, but I have a large number of old photos and documents that have no location data. Most were scanned several years ago, such as genealogy records, birth certificates, etc. How does Photos handle these images? Do they appear in Collections and Moments like other images even though they have no location data? Must I assign each some arbitrary location if I want the images to stay together? Should I also alter the "time the image was taken" as well? If not, I assume they will be sorted according to the time the image was added to iPhoto.

Photos without location data will appear in the moments based on the date. If the photos have no capture date, the file creation date will be used.
Must I assign each some arbitrary location if I want the images to stay together?
How are your photos stored now? If the are in iPhoto you could assign places to them and adjust the dates of your scans to group them by date in a meaningful way before migrating the library to Photos.
But photos will also allow you to create albums  or smart albums based on keywords and other tags.  iPhoto events will be mapped to albums.
