PSC2175 ALL-IN-ONE SLOW PRINTING

Question

PSC2175 All in One is grinding to a halt. Very slow to print/copy anything.
O/S Windows Vista (Home).  PC Dell Inspiron Desktop model 530.
Use Trend Micro Internet Security 2009 which is scanned frequently.
On giving the print command (from say Internet or Word) I get message ''Printing''  and then it just sits (Green Copy light flashing). After a minute it might print one line .. then waits and repeats.  Could take 10 minutes to print document.
I have been advised it is likely to be a printer fault rather than any virus issues(?)
My IT skills not brilliant.
OK the printer is about 4 years old!

Do you get the same slow printing if you make a copy?  If so then the likely cause is a defective cartridge.  If your printer supports printing in reserve mode you can remove the black cartridge and try printing a page (not copying), if this is normal then replace the black cartridge and remove the color cartridge.  The cartridge that prints at normal speed is OK, the other one is a problem and should be replaced.
