Psd previews in File Browser Windows XP

Hello, is there any way to have previews of psd images instead of the icons in the File Browser? (I have windows XP)

You are right that Photoshop 7 PSD files were visible as proper thumbnails.
Then the data loss problem occurred. This was attributed to a file called psicon.dll.
It never happened to me but there were definitely reported cases of it.
The file was removed from later versions of PS but along with it went the ability to view PSD files as thumbnails.
People have been complaining ever since and it seems to boil down to an incompatibility between Windows and Photoshop.
The fix to get a copy of psicon.dll and put it back in the system works, but then you run the risk of losing data again.
Since Bridge CS4 is so much improved over previous versions I now us it for browsing images.
But it's still very annoying!

Previewing pdf files in Windows 8

I have a new Samsung Ulimate laptop with Windows 8- Nice machine but not fit for purpose as I cannot preview pdf files in Windows Explorer- every file just has the pdf icon with no preview and only the filename to differentiate them. Is this a known problem. Is there a reliable fix?

Not for 64 bit systems, it doesn't seem it was ever expected to work.

Problem with preview PDF files on Windows 7 32bit

Hello,
in my office I have a problem with preview PDF files on my computers. The files are allright, but if I select a file and click on preview mode after ~ 10sec operation system write something "Preview this file is corrupt for PDF Preview Handler wrong". On other 64bit computers with same programs the preview is work. I try uninstall all Adobe soft (Reader, Flash), clean all Adobe data from folders in root and in register, but it is not solve this problem. On Microsoft forums wrote me, that the problem is probably with AR plugin.
So, can someone help me?

Windows 7 32/64bit Pro
Intel i3, 4GB
Adobe Reader 11.0.5
Adobe Flash Player 15 ActiveX

Not able to run the mxml file (Browser window is not launching)

Hello All,
I have flex 2.0 version installed on my window xp desktop. I have created one very simple form using TextInput and Label (Like:Video 04: Using Pre Built Flex Controls) but when I am clicking on the "Run" button at top near Print icon nothing is happening and I am not able to see form in browser window( window is not launching).
I have attached the flex project screen shot. (ProjectScreen.gif)
Do anyone have any idea why it is happening.
I would appreciate your help.

I have re-installed the flex builder 2 again and now its working file.

Motion problem with File Browser Window

For some reason I lost the File Browser Inspector and Library window and can't get it back
I have tried under the window tab and It will not let me check them to show it again. What can I do?
They appear in my toolbox at the top but also will not let me click on them.

Hi,
When we use the browse() functionin File the file selection window appears. Is there any way to close that window using code. What I need to accomplish is I want to close the file selection dialog box automatically after waiting a few seconds. How we accomplish this?
I tried to dispatch the CANCEL event but no sucess

Upgrade to forms 6i and you'll have a built in for that
(get_file_name). for 4.5 try looking for the d2kwutil.pll I
think there is a method there that will do this.

CS4 apps are VERY slow to open Windows file browser with File Open or File Save As commands

We are running CS4 on Windows 7 with all available updates installed. Photoshop and the other CS4 applications are VERY slow to open a Windows file browsing window to select files when File Open or File Save As menu options are run -- it can take as long as a minute or two for the window to open. Once the window opens and a file is selected, then opening or saving the file is very quick. The location of the default directory, whether it is on a local drive or a network drive, makes no difference. Any suggestions as to what the problem might be?

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2501584. I discovered in my network that the MS Office File Validation Patch made excel crawl when opening over the network though nothing else changed. At the time I was opening Excel on Office 2003.
You can manually turn this off by editing the registry and tunring it off. Going forward I skipped the patch to keep my sanity. Not sure if this is the same as your issue, but the support article will go into detail how to either have Fix it
clear the issue or change the proper registry keys.

File path control: invoke file browser activation

Hi there,
on the front panel of a vi I want a file path control to open automatically the file browser window when the user clicks into the path control. Is there any way to do that programmatically after the mouse down event has been fired? I couldn't find a suitable method so far.

I should point out that the mechanism you (I am referring to the OP) are proposing is counter-intuitive. Web browsers have started to do this, but they do it claiming security issues. Frankly, I think the security concern is small compared to the annoying change in normal behavior, but that's my just my opinion - I can't change the way Firefox or IE works.
Do you not have the Browse button visible for the control? Clicking this displays a file browser. This is normal and expected behavior.

File names aren't shown in file browser when uploading or downloading documents

When I try to upload or download a document, on various websites, the file browser window that pops up has no file names or any other information other than the icons. Mousing over a file brings up the size, date modified etc but not the file name. If I right-click the icon and open up the file properties, all the information is there except the file name, which is blank. Changing the view (list vs icons, for instance) changes nothing. Am using Firefox 35 and Windows 8. Problem did not occur with earlier versions of Firefox.

When the window comes up, what view are you using? Have you
tried to change the view? At the end of the input field, can you select
all files?

Auto-populate Field value From a File Picker Window

I have a PDF form with many fields where my users are required to enter the filename of documents. I am using Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro
I've been trying to find a way to create a field Action that does the following:
User clicks field
File browser window opens
User selects relevant file
Filename and extension is placed into the field that was clicked
Any tips or suggestions on how to implement this would be welcome.
Additionally, if it is possible, could it support multiple field/documents in a single interactions. Example: User clicks field1 and selects 5 files. The files filenames are placed in fields1, field2, field3, field4, and field5 respectively.
P.S.
I am not trying to attach files to the PDF. I just want the filenames to be placed into the form.

Are the files being selected PDF files, or other types? There's another method that can be used for file selection, but it only lists PDF files. It is possible (at least on Windows computers) to use it to select any file-type, but it's a bit tricky...
If not, using a hidden field is your only option. But you can reset if after copying the file-name to the other field, like this:

If you use this code (as the button's Mouse Up action), make sure you remove all other codes associated with the text fields. And you don't need to create a duplicate field for each file selection field, only one will do... It can even be placed in a doc-level function so you only have to call it from each button and have the code itself in a single location.

File browser button on Adobe Interactive Form

Hello,
We have a ZCI Adobe Interactive Form with XML-Schema-Based Interface.
There is a text field on the form with a button beside it. The requirement is that when this button is clicked, a file browser window should open up. After the user selects the file on PC, the file path should get populated in the text field.
I have tried using xfa.host.importData() in the Click event of the button. But nothing seems to happen.
Note that all other methods like xfa.host.messageBox() seem to work fine.
Can anybody please help?

Ok, I was able to solve it.
I placed a hidden text field on the form and wrote the following JavaScript on 'Click' event.

pa0001.Subform.FILENAME.rawValue = oFile.path;
var cFile;
cFile = event.target.getDataObjectContents(sFile);

This will upload the file content and place it in the hidden text field. I can use this hidden text field in my Web Dynpro application.
Just came to know that the Java Script we write in Adobe is known as AcroJS! Nice one.

MISSING LIBRARY / INSPECTOR / FILE BROWSER

Folks,
I have now had this happen on 2 machines. When working with complex projects, Motion would crash - and then upon relaunch it would be missing the library, inspector and file browser windows. No, they are not located outside the desktop area. No, they do not respond to key commands - nor do they show up when you go under the WINDOW menu options and choose from there. Now....they DO SHOW UP after I uninstall/reinstall the entire FCS1 package. But the time involved is debilitating. Now here's the caveat about uninstall/reinstall. The windows show back up in the FCS1 install - when I do the software upgrade from the MAC/APPLE website - a once normally working MOTION no has missing windows just like before.
Is this an OS thing? I have LEOPARD.... but I'm scared! Ha! can anyone give me solutions for motion or peace to upgrade?

welcome to the posts jason.
At the danger of sounding like a stuck record, have you tried throwing the Motion preferences away. Make sure motion is off, go to your Home Folder / Library / preferences / com.apple.motion.plist and throw it away. then re-boot motion, are they back?
