PSD Rendering badly at 50%, why?

Hi there,
Something very weird is happening with one of my photoshop cs5/macs. Viewing the same image at 50% on two different macs looks completely different? Please take a look at this image http://www.thenobleunion.com/temp/rendering_problem.png, does anyone know why the one renders the image completely different to the other? All of the Photoshop preferences are the same. Both Macs(MacBook Pro) and monitors(cinema displays) are the same models.

One has OpenGL drawing enabled, and the other does not.
Also, it probably wasn't exactly at 50%, so the non-GL system got pointsampling (rough edges).

Safari Rendering Badly Like Folded Curtain or Accordion

Hi. I'm using the latest Chrome now because Safari on Lion with the latest update still renders badly into an accordion or what looks like a folded curtain at the top and bottom when you scroll it. It's becoming frequent. What's this bug called if it is a bug? Thank you in advance.

Hi,
Are you using dialup to connect to the internet? Do you use any 'internet accelerators' provided by your ISP or another company? These accelerators often reduce the quality of images to make them smaller and thus quicker for you to load websites.
If you do have software like this, try adjusting the settings to reduce the amount of compression being performed.

Smart object rendering badly in pdf

Hi everyone,
I've copied a logo from illustrator into photoshop and pasted it as a smart object. When I save the .psd file as a pdf and view it, the logo is really bad quality, ie. it hasn't retained the vector data from illustrator. The rest of the .psd is fine though.
If I copy the same logo and paste as paths or a shape object, it looks great in the exported pdf. I thought a smart object would have been ok since it came from Illustrator.
Can anyone tell me why this is happening?

While Vector Smart Objects retain the original data and can be edited in Illlustrator, within the Photoshop-document they are present as pixel-data.
Adobe never made claims to the contrary as far as I can tell.
But your work-around of pasting paths and using those as Vector Masks is a good one.

Transitions look bad in DVDSP4, Why?

I have found that when I use any of the built in transition effects in DVDSP4 they look very bad, the quality is same as extremely low bit rate MPEG 2 files...
I can easily see the change from the original MPEG2 file and when it moves over to the rendered transition. very bad picture quality!!! why is that?
The render settings in DVDSP4 are set to highest possible quality...

having it fixed to CBR to 6.2 it gave nice dissolves or transitions, far better than what I was getting in the high quility setting not to mention I only did 1 pass to test it, and also becasuse it was only 1 pass it was quicker, I just hope that if I add a 2nd pass the quality would be much better but I like it how it looked....
in not so many words... transitions look far better in CBR than in VBR...

Creation of BADI's Definition, why?

i hope someone can explain to me, why we should create BADI's definition.
This is my point:
BADI's are enhancements, that are available in the Standard SAP, to offer the possibilty of changing/improving the standard code to respond correctly to a company/customer needs. Customer can implement these definitions.
So, even if we create a new BADI definition, this could'n be trigger/active by/in the standard code.
So, the possibility of creating "customer" BADIS definition, is for when you develop a customer program, and you want to create an enhancements in that development?
I associate the BADI's definition to enhancements made by SAP developers in SAP Standard, and badi's implementation to customer developers.
It's like an analogy with SMOD( SAP ) and CMOD (CUSTOMER).
Could somone explain to me, the benefits from creating BADI's definition's from customer point of view?

Business add-ins are enhancements to the standard version of the system.
Business Add-In is a new SAP enhancement technique based on ABAP Objects.
They can be inserted into the SAP system based on specific user requirements.
Each Business Add-In has:
at least one Business Add-In definition
a Business Add-In interface
a Business Add-In class that implements the interface
In order to enhance a program, a Business Add-In must first be defined
Subsequently two classes are automatically generated:
An interface with IF_EX_ inserted between the first and second characters of the BADI name.
An adapter class with CL_EX_ inserted between the first and second characters of the BADI name.
The Application developer creates an interface for this Add-In.
There are multiple ways of searching for BADI.
Finding BADI Using CL_EXITHANDLER=>GET_INSTANCE
Finding BADI Using SQL Trace (TCODE-ST05).
Finding BADI Using Repository Information System (TCODE- SE84).
1. Go to the Transaction, for which we want to find the BADI, take the example of Transaction VD02. Click on System->Status. Double click on the program name. Once inside the program search for CL_EXITHANDLER=>GET_INSTANCE.
Make sure the radio button In main program is checked. A list of all the programs with call to the BADIs will be listed.
The export parameter EXIT_NAME for the method GET_INSTANCE of class CL_EXITHANDLER will have the user exit assigned to it. The changing parameter INSTANCE will have the interface assigned to it. Double click on the method to enter the source code.Definition of Instance would give you the Interface name.
2. Start transaction ST05 (Performance Analysis).
Set flag field "Buffer trace"
Remark: We need to trace also the buffer calls, because BADI database tables are buffered. (Especially view V_EXT_IMP and V_EXT_ACT)
Push the button "Activate Trace". Start transaction VA02 in a new GUI session. Go back to the Performance trace session.
Push the button "Deactivate Trace".
Push the button "Display Trace".
The popup screen "Set Restrictions for Displaying Trace" appears.
Now, filter the trace on Objects:
V_EXT_IMP
V_EXT_ACT
Push button "Multiple selections" button behind field Objects
Fill: V_EXT_IMP and V_EXT_ACT
All the interface class names of view V_EXT_IMP start with IF_EX_. This is the standard SAP prefix for BADI class interfaces. The BADI name is after the IF_EX_.
So the BADI name of IF_EX_CUSTOMER_ADD_DATA is CUSTOMER_ADD_DATA
3. Go to Maintain Transaction (TCODE- SE93).
Enter the Transaction VD02 for which you want to find BADI.
Click on the Display push buttons.
Get the Package Name. (Package VS in this case)
Go to TCode: SE84->Enhancements->Business Add-inns->Definition
Enter the Package Name and Execute.
Here you get a list of all the Enhancement BADIs for the given package MB.

Title "shifts" up in frame after it's been rendered. Any idea why?

I'm pressed against a deadline (aren't we all?) and need help fast.
A designer created lower third titles in Photoshop and saved them as .psd files.
Imported them into FCP and they work fine. When I key them over footage, they work fine and key in real time. I applied a cross dissolve to fade them up and out, and they look fine. I color corrected the footage that the titles are keyed over and suddenly the cross dissolve needs to be rendered. No big deal, except that after I render it I begin having problems.
The type fades in and once the transition is finished, the type shifts up in the frame. CLICK! Very noticable and very undesirable.
I've tried fading the titles using opacity in the Motion tab and it does the same thing.
Does anyone have any idea this is happening and how to make it stop?

The .psd files include a "background" and "type" layers, so when they're imported, they create sequences. I've changed the settings on those sequences so that the field dominance is "none" and that solves it. It now means having to render them but I'll take it if they quit shifting.
The field dominance was already "lower" and so I just tried taking the fields out of the equation altogether, which since it's being derived from a still frame, kind of makes sense.

Ahhh - reckon I've got it.
It's jumping up because fcp has misinterpreted the
field.
You will have to take the titles out of the tl ie.
delete them.
Now scroll across in the browser to field settings
and make all the titles lower by rt clicking the
field and choosing from the drop down.
Or select the titles in the browser>rt click
em>formatand alter there for each.
Now reposition them back into the tl.
Adjust and render.

Rendering problem - takes ages - why ?? Problem described + hardware listed

First I will try to describe my problem which makes me nuts by now :-(....then - I will also submit the information about my hardware as good as I can, to hopefully get some wise hints about what to do. I'm not that skilled when it comes to video and different formats and hardware etc, so hopefully I will get some easy to understand hints :-)
I'm using Premiere Elements 8.0 and for the video capture I'm using A canon HF10 recorder. When recording I get AVCHD files (filename.mts). When starting up a new project I select "PAL->AVCHD->Full-HD 1080i 25" which I think should be the correct preset !? Atleast a preset that should work if I intend to get the best output quality in the end if I understand everything correct....
So, the problem I'm experiencing at the moment : As soon as I drag the firt clip to my timeline and I see this "red" bar above my clip, I hit "enter key" to start rendering this particular clip.....at the moment I'm trying with just a small clip (file size 13,5 MB - 6 seconds long)....when this rendering dialogue window comes up it takes like 5-7 minutes to just render this little clip..very frustrating as you can imagine :-)
Another thing is that after I have managed to render all my clips I added to the timeline(even though it took a huge amunt of time)..and the afterwards save the project and then re-open it, some of the clips are "red" again and I have to hit "enter" to render them again (if I'm not mistaken ?)...why is that ? Some setting I have missed and if so exactelly where can I find this and what should it be set to ?
Have been struggeling with this for a while and need to understand what I have to do, just killing my motivation for moving on :-( Hopefully someone can describe what I need to do - and please in an easy way if possible without getting to technical (if possible)
I can also mention that I'm using two separate disks (also listed in the below spec. of my system)..one SSD disk and so another larger disk for storage...when setting up the project I noticed that its possible (of course) to specify the different output files and where on the disk system/s they should go....also, if this is important and can make a difference for my described problems, how should I think ? What data should go on each disk and what should go on the faster SSD disk? I imagine I will get perhaps a suggestion to have even more disks for my video editing, but I really hope what I'm trying to do with just a tiny clip should not need to have more then this..hopfully its more advanced things that will create perhaps a future need for additional storage components ?

(later in the evening).....but when it comes too what you mentined Robert, after re-opening my projects only some of the
clips "turns" red again and need to be re-rendered ? Is this really a known problem in PrE you say ? And if so, does it exist also in PrEL 9 ? If so, I cant understand how a such central and "must-work" feature can not work properly, sounds really weird ? To be able to render same preview files when openiing a project must make people furious ?

Compressor 3.5 Watermark Rendering Bad

Hi All,
Just upgraded to Final Cut Studio 3 (Compressor 3.5) and when I render Watermarks that looked fine in Compressor 3, they are now almost totally 'washed out' or faded. Specifically, the watermarks were made in Photoshop (PSD) and the Opacity was set to at 10% and 100% (different text has a different Opacity). The 100% Opacity watermarks now look like they are 50% and the 10% watermarks cannot be seen at all. If I render the watermark in Compressor 3.0 they look fine.
Secondly, in the Preview window in Compressor 3.5, the Watermarks look fine. It's only after the render, when I open the Quicktime file that the watermarks look washed out. I don't have a "what you see is what you get" situation with 3.5. Again, with 3.0 everything looks great (Preview and rendered Quicktime), it's only with Compressor 3.5 that this happens.
Any suggestions?

What codec are you using and how long it the video? Quickcluster is a waste of time if you going to ProRes. If the video duration is short Quickclusters won't kick in with all cores running.
There nothing wrong with Compressor 4... Going to compressor 4 won't solve your problem.

Keying and Rendering in Premiere Pro - Why does it cut the frame in half when I render?

I am keying a clip in Adobe Premiere and layering it over another clip. Looks great when I play back in the timelime but for some reason when I render the clip the bottom half of the frame goes missing as if I have cropped it out. If I then edit the clip in any way it comes back but of course,it's then un-rendered. I can't figure out why this happens. Anyone have an idea? Thanks!

Exactly what version of PPro do you have?
CC7.2 has a bug that sounds like what you're reporting. It was fixed in 7.2.1.
If you're on PPRO 7.2.1--and you're seeing this problem in clips encoded by AME--then try disabling the option "Enable native Premiere Pro sequence import" on the General tab of AME's preferences dialog. I don't know for a fact that this will resolve the problem, but it's a pretty good bet.

Detail section in Report Viewer Control rendered bad in IE 6/7 ???

independent of checking the "no printer" option or select the same printer in Visual Studio Report Designer as on the deployment server the details section of Crystal Report Viewer Control is not rendered correctly in IE 6/7!!!
But looks fine in Firefox ?!?
Any ideas?

First: i have to excuse me, `cause all sections (header,detail and pagefoot) are rendered strange. It seems that all data is crimped into one column on the left side?!?
I expected something like this:

But I get from IE 6/7:

Text Not Rendering, But No Idea Why

I have a sequence that I am rendering to quicktime. I've tried every possible little thing I know how -- which admittedly isn't that much, I'm a relatively new user -- and the the quicktime file will include everything but the text. Might anyone be able to give me a suggestion to try and solve this?

Make sure you haven't turned the layer into a "guide layer"?

Smart Object .psd file opens in ACR, why?

In LR3.0, I select a .psd file in my catalog and do "edit in photoshop as a smart object". Inside of photoshop, I double click on the layer or click "edit contents" of the smart object layer, it takes me to the ACR dialog. Well, I do not want this dialog. I just want to edit it as I would any other document inside of photoshop. Smart objects created inside of photoshop to NOT behave this way. Only lightroom psd files that are opened in photoshop as a smart object exhibit this "strange" behavior. How can I edit the contents of these smart objects inside of photoshop and omit ACR?

Your application versions aren't in sync, so this just won't work I'm afraid: CS4 is (roughly) four years behind LR4 and the version of ACR that comes with PS CS4 (5.x - should be on 5.7) won't be able to interpret the edits you've carried out in LR4, assuming you're using the latest process version with the new slider controls.
Very surprised you're not getting any error messages or warnings though. Maybe you switched them off in Lightroom?

Totally perplexed, fonts rendering bad on Windows (IE & Firefox)

is almost complete but I tested it with a Windows machine and font looks terrible. It looks perfect on My Mac with both firefox and safari. But with windows XP / 2000 with both Firefox and IE it looks aweful.
I also had friends around the world try it and it looked aweful to them as well in IE.
Any advice would really be appreciated. I know it has something to do with fonts but what ... im not sure

Yes its one of Suzanne's and you aree spot on, Suzanne suggested the same cross platform issue.
I dont really want to convert to PNG as I would have to apply that to the whole site , including dynamic stuff like the diary (aka blog).
Suzanne suggested trying a standard font like Verdana for the benefit of windows people , which at the end of the day still account for the majority.. at least for now.
Ive been researching on this forum (which is excellent by the way) and was wondering if it could be some font duplication / missing font issue? I dont see to have a LucindGrand-bold font nor is it defined in Suz's CSS? I have duplicate arial fonts (difff versions) but thats not being used in the site so im not sure how that would effect things.
