PSD to JPG problem.

Help please, I am saving psd files as jpg files, and the resulting jpg images are much lighter. (Nikon D800 files)

It's remotely possible the color profile is poorly constructed and could affect one kind of file but not the other.  Honestly I think I'll have to defer and hope to hear from one of the Adobe people on this.
I suppose you could try clearing Bridge's preferences.  I don't remember the key sequence to do that, and you may not want to anyway as it will require you re-setting it all up the way you like it again.
Out of curiosity, if you download this file, unzip the two images out of it, and show them both in Bridge, do you see the same difference you were seeing with the images of the man?

  • PSD to JPG batch conversion problem

I just found out when I use bridge to batch convert a bunch of PSDs into JPGs, the image resolution remains the same but somehow the real dimensions change, if I save them as JPGs in Photoshop, their real dimensions would remain the same... is there anyway to fix this?
    Thanks,
    Elton

I just tried it with a friend's laptop, who's using Windows 7 and it worked.
I think it really has to do with that Prefs.psp file I have to delete, but I can't find it! There isn't even one *.psp file
    Help anyone?

  • Exporting PSD to JPG/TIFF generate a distorted black color

    Hello,
I use Photoshop CC 2014.1 on OSX Maverick.
When I export a layered PSD to JPG/TIFF I obtain an image with a distorted black color. The image has multiple layers, two of which are the photo I took (with black background) and an added black background.
In Photoshop there is no difference between the 2 background (they have the same black colour), but the result of the exporting is the attached picture.
Could you please help me in solving the problem? How can export the PSD image correctly?
    Thanks.
    Andrea

Even if I flatten the psd there is the same difference
Then the difference is in the layered psd even if it many not be displayed in the layered state – is it visible at View > 100%?
Could you post a screenshot of the border region taken at View > 100%?
Noise in the photograph may be a factor.
I think you should apply a Layer Mask to the photographic element to make sure the background is uniform (the added black background).

  • How do I drag / drop larger .psd or .jpg to Adobe Illustrator?

I am trying to use Adobe Illustrator to create 1-page advertisements for magazine publications.  These advertisements have text, pictures and my business logo.  Unfortunately, I can not drag my logo from Photoshop Elements (nor Photoshop) to Adobe Illustrator.  The .psd of the logo file is 4 MB in size and a .jpg of the logo file is 700 in size.   I have no problem dragging small pictures that are ~150K in size.
Can someone please advise how to place the logo onto my Adobe Illustrator work space?
Is there a way to import the larger .psd or .jpg logo file directly into Adobe Illustrator?
Is there a better Adobe application to use for these ads?   (From a learning curve, I am comfortable with Illustrator and DreamWeaver and still learning Photoshop.)
My applications:  Adobe CS3 Suite for web publishing as well as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Photoshop Elements, Premiere Elements and Adobe Illustrator
My system:  8 GB Ram, MS Vista
    Please help.   Thanks.

That works if all the data is available as a file at the point where you start the drag.
In my case it is not, I have got to go get it from the database, and that can take up to 30 seconds.
So I want to do that bit when the drop happens (which users are used to as for instance when they copy a large file in Windows at the moment), not when the drag starts (which is very difficult to provide any visual feedback for).

If you are editing a single psd file in the editor, simply choose 'save as' and specify the jpg format in the save dialog.
If you want to batch convert many psd to jpg in the editor, use the 'File/process multiple files' command.
If you are in the organizer, use the export function and select the jpg format in the export dialog.

  • Lightroom export as psd or jpg

I am trying to set a good workflow in Lightroom at which I am quite new to. I am using Lightroom and Photoshop together to edit images. My question is - for images going out for print, is it better to choose psd -vs- jpg when sending the image from lightroom to photoshop for post processing? I assume it is and should select psd, send to photoshop (sharpen...) and then convert to jpg before sending out to print as my photo printer recommends. Thanks for your comments and help!!

Yep either psd or tiff when exporting would be my choice for work in PS.
However you could just edit in PS with a psd and then export that from LR as a jpeg, then the jpeg can be deleted and if you need another just export again from LR. It keeps all the files together in LR and you know whch you have edited as they have -edit after the file no.

  • Convert PSD to JPG

Is there any API to convert PSD to JPG ? Earlier I was using Adobe Document Server and I have used a method called 'saveOptimized' to perform this action. Please let me know what is the equivalent method in LiveCycle.
    Thanks in Advance
    Ravi

The ability to convert graphics that was in the older Adobe Document Server (and Graphic Server within that) is not carried over into LiveCycle.  There is a rich set of PDF to image and image to PDF that you may be able to use, depending on your workflow.

  • How do change the default "Save As" from PSD to JPG?

I know a while back, Photoshop was offering to save my files as JPEGs as default.  But now it defaults to saving as a PSD file, and I am having some difficulty figuring out how to make it save as a JPG file instead.
OS: CS 5.1 Production Premium, Mac
    Adobe Photoshop 5.1
    Thanks!

Some of the posters up in this thread implied that this is a problem and/or is somehow not logical (yes, I know some of the posts are old).
That's not the case.  There actually is rhyme and reason.  Understanding it could help you make better decisions while using Photoshop.
Photoshop has a concept that you will be working with master documents and occasionally saving copies as work products.  Conceptually a master document is saved into a file and loaded from a file so that it maintains all the features you added while editing.
So Photoshop considers that JPEG can actually house a master document IF (and only if) all the features of your document can be saved in the JPEG format.  For this to be true, the document has to be a flat single layer, 8 bits/channel, and without other things such as extra channels.  It can have paths.
Here's the logic as I understand it:
IF the last time you saved or opened the master document you're working on you saved it as a JPEG, and IF all the features currently in the document can be saved as a JPEG, your default format in the File - Save As menu will be JPEG.
If you change or add something in the document - say create a layer (or turn the Background into a layer), add a channel, or increase the bit depth to 16 - the next time you try to save it Photoshop will offer to save it in e.g., PSD format, since that format is now needed to save and re-load all the additional features of the document that you have added.  At this point, if you override the default format and change it to JPEG, you'll find the [ ] As a Copy option will be automatically be given a checkmark which you can't change, indicating you cannot save all the current document features in that format.
For brand new documents you've just created, I believe Photoshop simply checks to see if the current document can be completely saved in the last master document format you saved something else in successfully, and offers that as the default if everything about the document will "fit" in that format.  So if a few minutes ago you saved a JPEG master document, then you created a new flattened image in 8 bits/channel and now you do File - Save As, it will offer JPEG as the default choice.
Someone please correct me if I've missed anything here.

  • PSD or JPG files not recognized in the organizer after an editing session

Without any obvious reasons, I am now consistently experiencing the following problem (which I never had before):
    1) I choose a JPG (or NEF) image from the Organizer (not renamed - as imported from the camera).
    2) I use the FIX menu to open the Editor (full edit) to work on the picture.
    3) I save my work under a PSD file format in the Editor.
    4) When I am getting back to the Organizer, the file does exist but is shown as broken (missing).
The checkboxes for the inclusion in a Version set and the organizer are both checked.
    Software: PhotoShop Element 9
    Platform: MAC OS X
I’ve seen similar questions asked, but couldn’t find any solution to this issue.
Is it a known problem which has been resolved in Element 10 or 11?
    Thanks for your help.

Aha. You have PSE 9 and you actually looked at the saving files preference panel sometime, didn't you? In the mac version, this causes that to happen, because just opening that panel sets PSE to stop adding the file extension when you save.
The solution is to either add it manually each time you save, or to delete the preferences (quit editor, then relaunch while holding down command+shift+option) and never, never open Editor>Preferences>Saving Files again.

  • Save as JPG problem?

    Hi,
I have recently been bugged by a problem when saving as JPG. I go through my usual workflow, convert my file to 8bits sRGB, then "save as", select JPG from the drop down, goto my folder and click save. I get the quality dialogue, select 12, hit save... but PS CC saves a PSD file. A PSD file that cannot be opened in PS, or any thing else? Now sometimes I try all this again, select JPG hit save and get a message "xxx.PSD already exists overwrite?".... I SELECTED JPG!
    Sometimes it saves a JPG....
I ran the latest update, maybe 3 days ago so CC is up to date.
    Please help?

I do not chose the PSD extension, I chose JPG from the "save as" drop down box and do not add any extension to the name. I have done this for at least 6 years without problem.
I confess I have not tried to rename, if it happens again I will try to rename it. Thanks for the suggestion.
Just annoying that it happens and I would love to know why.

  • Saving .psd as .jpg crashes Photoshop CS4

I recently upgraded to CS4, and am having a problem saving a flattened .psd file to .jpg (saving to any other format works just fine). When I try to save as a .jpg (RGB, 8-bit), the program partially locks up, and no .jpg file is created. The File menu has only two or three options, including Close and Open As, but I cannot actually select these options. All other menu options are grayed out; no tools work. I cannot quit Photoshop in this state without using Task Manager.
Any ideas about what's going on? Thanks!

Try resetting your preferences as described in the FAQ.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/375776?tstart=0
You either have to physically delete (or rename) the preference files or, if using the Alt, Ctrl, and Shift method, be sure that you get a confirmation dialog.
This resets all settings in Photoshop to factory defaults.
A complete uninstall/re-install will not affect the preferences and a corrupt file there may be causing the problem.

  • Process Multiple Files - Convert PSD to JPG

Having problems converting large (30MB) psd files to jpg (not jpeg2000). I tried using the Process Multiple Files feature and when I tried to convert a large number of psd files (20 or more) PSE3 stops at the first file with a second window, SAVE AS, asking for a different format and gives these choices: Photoshop, JPEG 2000, Photoshop PDF, Photoshop RAW, PNG, TIFF. All not what I want. Yet when I convert the same PSD files to tiff it goes without a hitch, ie no second Save As box and no stopping. What gives?
    Suggestions appreciated.

First, I'm using an iMac G5 with Mac OS 10.4.7 and PSE3. Actually my question is really about a Batch Flip. I scanned a lot of slides (close to a 1000) at the 'best' quality I could which was 16 bit color (or as Canon calls it, 48 bit) and 2400 bit dpi. But there was a problem in that the slides being 'emulsion side down' during scanning produced a mirror image. These images have to be 'Horizontal Flipped' to get back to a correct image. To do the flip I either had to do it one at a time with PSE3 or try a batch process. Trouble is the programs I tried for the batch process will not work on 16 bit files as I deduced from your reply. So, my thought was to convert them to jpg first then batch flip, hence my question here. Also jpgs would be more manageable for viewing, slide shows, editing and other software while I could store the original *.psd files on DVDs. So now I am left with doing a Batch Flip one at a time then storing the originals on DVDs, and as I have a Windows box connected, copy then over and use something like IrFanview to convert the originals to jpgs for slide shows etc. Another issue: are jpgs the way to go or is there a better format? Tiff?
    Suggestions appreciated.

  • Saving PSD and JPG

Just lately I am having trouble saving PSD files as JPG's.  There are no layers, or I have flattened them.  When I choose Save As I am not given an option to save as a JPG.  I have the options to save as PSD, Cineon, PSB, RAW, PNG and TIFF.
I believe this is a new problem in my workflow.  I don't it recall it happening before.
I am using Windows XP and CS3

Yup!  You hit the nail on the head.  My friend was fooling around on my computer and made changes to 16-bit.  He said I should always be working in 16 bit.  I have mixed feelings about this issue.
Thanks, I can now move forward.

  • Photoshop cs4 color changes after I save it from psd to jpg

I have used  cs2 for years and just got cs4 and I always work on my pictures in raw then save them as psd then open them in photoshop and work on them and save as jpg for printing.
I can't seem to be able to do how I used to.
I open the picturte in raw and fix the color until it looks good, then open it in photoshop and it still looks good and I save it as jpg then the whole thing goes down hill here I view it in Windows live gallery and the color is all off, its way over concentrated and looks red and jsut way different then it did in photoshop and thats how it prints too.
Any idea what it can be?
Why soon as I save it as jpg the image looks so different.
Please help, I'm working on clients pictures and don't seem to be able to save them so they are right.

okay I see that this is getting little more complicated.
So now I see it isn't anything with windows.
I do edit the picture in raw and it looks good and save it as psd then when I open it in photoshop it looks right and if I select view-proof colors then it comes out with that crazy color as it will look after I save it.
So going from raw where i edit it looks good then after I save it even if I save it there as jpg and open on photoshop it alway changes when it is checked on proof color.
Is anyone on here that know whay this is happening? how do I make the pictures stay the same after I edit them in raw?

  • Image Processor CS4 Cannot batch process from psd to jpg ERROR MSG

I have been receiving the error message "Sorry, I could not processes the following files:" when ever I try to change DNG or PSD files to jpg in camera raw.  It does not matter if I try this with one file or 100. I am running CS4 on a Mac OSX 10.5.8.  I have enough memory, have cleared trash, purged cache....I don't know what to do to make this run correctly.  Please help!

Thank you for responding and yes, I would be more than happy to elaborate.
In Bridge I normally change my images from psd or dng using the following steps:
    Tools
    Photoshop
    Image Processor
change to jpg with a quality of 10
This has always worked in the past on CS3 and worked a few times once I upgraded to CS4.
I can do one image or a number of images.  I started receiving the error message stated above
    when doing these steps.
I have purged Bridge cache, have memory on system...startup disks are not full.
I cannot figure out why I keep getting this message or how to fix it.
Any and all help is much appreciated!!!
