Psd to swf

Imageready CS2 had a fantastic export to swf option that as far as I can tell has completely dissapeared. Can we please get this back? It allowed you to take vector based layers in photoshop (with solid fills) right into flash and maintain full editablity. Although it is nice that you can now open PSDs directly in Flash if you do open a vector based shape it now gives you the path as a mask and then rasterizes the fill. Its crazy! You end up with a folder full of un-editable raster fills and file sizes almost 5 times as big. I realize the other option is to take a PSD through Illustrator but the process is much slower (seconds become minutes) and both the document size and the grouping of layers gets messed up. Please help.

There is a few ways you can do this.  First of all I'm assuming you know that the Image Ready Animation features are all in the Window  -> Animation tab.  From there, you can choose File -> Export -> Render Video... and choose either an actual video file, which could then be made into an .FLV for flash,  or export as a JPG/GIF Sequence which could be imported to the Flash timeline.
Hope this helps!
Jesse
EDIT: Just noticed you were wanting it exported as a compiled .swf.  Sorry, I believe that was only with Fireworks that you could do that... i think FLV is your best bet for filesize now anyway.

  • Export an animated PSD to SWF

I remember exporting an animated psd file from photoshop into a compiled flash file (swf) awhile back. But in CS5 I cannot find this feature. Was it available earlier only (through ImageReady)? How can I do this now?
    Thank you

  • Please Help me with this flash problem, my life is depending on this!

If you visit www.fishtv.tv there is a flash document on the
left side, it is a box with pictures scrolling. I NEED to know how
what to open it with, and how to add a picture into it. Please if
you have any information how to accomplish this task reply to this
thread, OR send me an email at [email protected] It will be
    very much appreciated, thanks.

SWF is to FLA the same way JPG is to PSD. SWF is the compiled
    (think flattened) format. Like urami
once said, you can't get the egg back after making the
omelette. There are SWF decompilers (search
google or this forum) out there but most will (if not all)
will merely allow you to obtain the
"guts" of an swf - you will not really end up with the
original FLA again. MUCH easier to try and
locate the FLA or rebuild the site. Surely there's a back-up
    of the source somewhere?

  • Unable to export SWF, if I've used PSD layers

I am having trouble exporting an SWF directly from AE6 (It works in CS3 and CS5). Even if I set the render to "rasterize", the SWF will only render up to the point that a Photoshop layer is introduced in the composition. I do not receive any error messages...but the render process immediately stops when it reaches a layer in the composition that utilizes a Photoshop layer. Does anyone have any ideas why this might be happening? Or any suggestions of things I can try to solve this issue?

Everything is RGB. I've tried PSD CS5 and CS6. Nothing fancy with the layers...no layer effects, etc.
I even went so far as to create a new PSD file (with only one layer) and a new composition on AE. Still no luck. Get this, however. I was trying anything I could think of.... and determined that if I simply "turn on" the 3D toggle on any one of the layers, that it renders just fine. I have no idea why that would make a differenece, but it did.

  • How to batch process psd's into swf's?

I have several .psd images that I need to turn into .swf's. The only solution I can figure is to place the psd into illustrator and save. Is there a faster/easier option as I have hundreds of files that I need to do this to! I also need them to be .pngs. A quick solution for that would also be appreciated!

I have to batch process images into multiple formats as well and Actions have saved me so much time. I work primarily in print, so I'll admit I'm not familiar with the process you need to go through to save your SWF files, but you could always try to record the steps into an Action.
From there you can go File > Automate > Batch which will bring up the dialogue below. The top two menus let you choose your Action and directly below that you can designate the source where your files are (you can open all of them first or direct this menu to a folder).
    Hope this helps some!

  • Add a FLV/SWF to a PSD website.

I have web design premium CS3, and I just started experimenting with making my websites in Photoshop. In the meantime, I have been experimenting with Flash and love it. My question is, if i build a webpage in photoshop, how do I add my flash file to it? I tried the photoshop help section of photoshop itself and there are tons of different types of files it says I can work with, but I still havent found a way to add a flash file to my PSD web document.
    Can anyone help with this?
    Much thanks in advance.

I am trying to clear cells now, but I think I need to figure out how to get the long vertical blue lines out of my slices.... when i clear the cell in dreamweaver, it is clearing out everything below the cell, all the way to the bottom of the page (like the blue lines). Now, I'm just trying to figure out how to save the PSD into an HTML page without the slice extensions!
:) Learning curves sure are fun.

  • Nest AS3 swf into AS2 swf

I purchased a flash template written in AS2, i have all files needed to customize this site, .fla, psd's you name it. I also purchased a photo gallery that is written in AS3 (did not know it was AS3 when purchased) . My question: is there any way to embed/nest the AS3 photo gallery, which i the swf file for, into my AS2 website?

    Per AS3 documentation:
A single SWF file cannot combine ActionScript 1.0 or 2.0 code with ActionScript 3.0 code.
SWF files written in ActionScript 1.0 or 2.0 cannot load SWF files written in ActionScript 3.0. This means that SWF files authored in Flash 8 or Flex Builder 1.5 or earlier versions cannot load ActionScript 3.0 SWF files.
The only exception to this rule is that an ActionScript 2.0 SWF file can replace itself with an ActionScript 3.0 SWF file, as long as the ActionScript 2.0 SWF file hasn't previously loaded anything into any of its levels.

  • Re-positioning a swf file in dreamweaver?

    Hi,
I am Graphic designer currently learning the ropes of webdesign..so this may be a noobish question as i have NO IDEA when it comes to html code...
I created a design in photoshop and saved my pages, images slices etc in html and opened it in dreamweaver.
My Problem is... i have a "swf flash slide show file" which i want to re-position roughly in the center of the html page, which for the life of me i cannot do!
I have tried aligning it center etc...but the swf file only seems to move around the edges of my html page.
Is it possible for the swf to be centered within my html page.

Complete code below, copy and paste into new Dreamweaver document, and save to your site folder. One point I can't help thinking that at 1600px wide your main image is too wide, most will have to scroll right to see the whole page. I would limited the width to around 980px.

  • SWF into photo gallery page, but thumb links stopped

(PC question). I have a swf header for several web pages, and want a gallery page with the same header. (The header links work fine). The following is a portion of ThumbnailFrame.htm showing how I put the SWF in (using parts of the SWF htm). The page worked fine until the swf was added. Am I going about this wrong? • PSD files don't up-load because "maximum compatability" issues

I have a load of PSD files that don't load because they were saved in previous versions of PS when maximum compatability did not exist in preferences. The problem is they are mixed in with other files and Light Room does not identify the specific files.
When I eventually do locate one the fix is easy enough to resave with this setting.
Currently I am sorting all files by type, sorting out the PSD files, running an action to correct then upload. Really takes the fun out of this.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi Gaspar,
Are you using a preloader for the project? If so, the default
one in Captivate waits for 60% of the project to load before
playing. Perhaps try to add the preloader if you aren't using one,
or remove it if you are to see if that makes a difference. In
Captivate 3, you can change this option in Preferences -->
Project --> Start and End --> Loading Screen.
    Good luck,
    David
Edit: I just tried this too and got the same results when
publishing with all versions of Flash - I was a little surprised to
see it even with Flash 7 exports, because Captivate has let me
embed .swf animations into a single .swf project file using Flash
    7. I'm guessing that whatever Flash "engine" Captivate uses to
create its own FMV .swfs must be Flash 8 or 9. That would be
something that would be nice to adjust - especially because of the
lack of the ability to merge .swf files into one file. I guess I'll
    send a feature request again...

  • Swf colors rendered diffrent in IE, FF, Opera

    Hi folks,
Just changed a header from png image to swf, needed a red
blinking "beacon" But strangely the color of the swf renders
diffrently in all browsers except safari? Does anyone have a clue?
Colorprofile issue in the PSD file maybe? Have tried a few options
    but no luck so far...

    Cheers!

FYI. Looks pretty in Firefox on my Mac (same as Safari).
There have been some issues with Color Management in Flash:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/jnack/2008/10/get_better_color_through_fp10.html
...but usually you see them in the Flash authoring
    environment.
Even more likely for this case, though, is that you're using
wmode in your html, which is notorious for causing display
    problems:
    <param name="wmode" value="opaque" />
Get rid of this parameter entirely. You shouldn't need it for
    this piece.

  • Pattern Swatch Seams showing in SWF

    Hi Everyone,
I have here an Illustrator file with a pattern swatch that, when I export a swf, faint seam lines show. (see attached) It's like the lines in a pdf that don't print, but the problem is, the swf is important because it's what the customer sees. How do I get these lines to stop showing up?
Usually I expand appearance of pattern swatches and pathfinder the pieces together so there are no seams, but this file was a headache to break apart, the lines jog. If I save out as a jpg the lines go away, but the lines also jog. (see attached) If I save out as a .psd the lines still appear.
What I want is a swf that has no seam lines. Is it possible?
    Cheers,
    Emmy Williford

    Thank you Mike!
Unfortunately it does the jogging thing that expanding and jpg'ing does when I object>rasterize. Expanding appearance does the least amount of jogging, so I may do that just to swf and keep the pattern swatch file for printing.

  • Large SWF files

I was playing around with ID's interactive features and came across the large SWF problem.
In fact, last month, I posted here whinging about a 13mb SWF file it created despite my having sized all the images (12 of them) to the exact pixel size they were being used at.Adjusting the compression ing the SWF export did nothing.
I revisited that project today and did something different.
Instead of placing PSD images I swapped them out for a JPG of the exact image  - no re-sampling (except JPG medium compression). The SWF file went from 13mb to 3mb!
I had used the main images as thumbnails - reducing and cropping them in ID. So I recreated the thumbnails in PShop at the exact pixel size and replaced the cropped reduced images.
    Created the SWF - 1mb.
Still a bit large but an incredible difference.
The lesson is, for interactve ID work  don't use PSD and don't reduce the size of an image in ID, the SWF apparently does not do the re-sampling for you.
Thought I'd pass this on and hopefully it will help someone.

    Interesting.
Here is a link to the file I have been playing with (albeit not frequently)
    http://www.wgdesigngroup.com/10/elaine/elaine.html
(Still in the ugly, awkward grey ID html file)
On the Art page I had used the full images to create the thumbnails.
When I did this the SWF was over 3mb
But when I cropped in PShop to thumbnail size, the file went down to 1.1mb. (much better than the 13mb when I was using PSDs)

  • Smallest .swf export from flattened exported pdf

    Hello Community.
Wonder if anyone has dealt with this issue before. I have a catalog that is 170 pages long, filled with .jpgs, .pngs, and a few .psd's. I need to make a .swf with hyperlinks
on each of the 1500 images,
If I export the whole thing as a pdf, then make a new file with the flattened pdf, then draw rectangles bounding boxes attached to hyperlinks around each image, would that make my .swf
considerable smaller for load time online. Or should linking the original files images individually be the way to go. Guess I am asking if there would be any difference in file size.
Just wanted to get some insight before embarking on this tedious task.

The best thing you can do is talk your boss out of it.
It will be unreadable on mobile devices and on desktops will take forever to load.
It’s simply a bad idea with no benefit at all. Nobody is going to buy your products because you have a page curl on your website.
