PSE 1 can't install using Vista

Okay, to start, I have a new Toshiba with Windows Vista. I am trying to install PSE from the installation CD. When I pop in the CD, and click on Run Setup, it starts to install. It asks me to choose a language, and accept the EULA, and then it asks me whether I want to install PSE or Acrobat Reader. I click on PSE and it acts as if it is going to install, but then...nothing. No installation wizard, nothing.
I have tried clicking "explore" instead of "autoplay" and then running it from there but still no workie. I have run it with administrator rights, I have tried going to properties and changing the compatibility to Win xp, 2000, and 98 and it still won't run.
It IS an old version (1.0.1) but whereas it is MY legally owned copy, and I am familiar with the program, I absolutely don't want to pay 150 bucks for a newer version.
Can anybody tell me what is going on? Oh, and a side note, before I got this new computer, I had an older computer with Vista and the program installed just fine so I doubt that it is simply because I am using Vista.

Well, problem solved. I really, REALLY wish I knew how though. I must have tried the installation at least 3 dozen times and I probably rebooted at least ten times. But for SOME reason, after this last reboot, it installed like a charm. I have no idea why which is disappointing because I have a feeling this won't be the last time I will have to deal with this problem. Thanks for everyone's suggestions though.
I guess if nothing else, at least now we know that PSE 1 can, in fact, run on Vista. Thanks all!

  • How do I prep for re-install PSE 7 after clean install of vista/win7?

    Hi all,
I'm guessing that someone has been through this before and has some hints.
I'm running XP-32 and going to move to Win7-64, but plan to install Vista-64 Business 1st, to ease the migration pain(maybe?). Besides backing up my catalog to another drive, what other files do I need to backup? And I have heard that I need to do an uninstall of PSE7 first, so I don't have registration problems when I re-install.
    DJ

    Hi DocDJ,
You can go to adobe.com->Store->YourAccount->View Registrations->View Adobe Branded Registrations to see whether the PSE 7 copy on your machine is registered with Adobe or not.Naturally, if you are formatting the machine and then again installing PSE on new fresh machine, then PSE application will not be able to find the file which might be containing information that your registration information is being sent to Adobe and it will again display you with the registration information. But, you can either click on the Dont ask me again and live with it(since your information is already their on Adobe.com) or you can send in a fresh information to Adobe and they can update their records accordingly.
Apart from you files in Documents & Settings->Users area like catalog, filters, etc, I dont think you need to take back up of anything else (Of course, you will take back up of your pics.)
The only risk if any is that you will face the experience of first time user on the new OS. Regarding licensing data, you can just go ahead and use PSE on new machine, shouldnt be a issue unless you are using the downloaded TnB version of PSE 7 converted into full product because it gets activated and deactivated. So before uninstalling PSE 7 from the old OS you need to deactivate by going into the help menu.
In case you are using the box/retail/full version, then you will not see Help->Deactivate link in the help menu.
    Best Luck

  • Can't Install 64bit Vista Ultimate

    Hi,
When I turn my laptop on. I press f12 - so I could go to the boot manager (my vista ultimately 64bit dvd in the laptop). It gives me a message that reads: Attempting to load a 64-bit application, however, this CPU is not compatible with 64-bit mode
I have a T-60 and it has the sticker "Windows Vista Capable" - it currently has windows XP
Could someone tell me what I need to do to install the 64-bit verison?
    Thanks a lot

    Welcome to the forum!
If your T60 has a first generation Core Duo CPU, as opposed to Core 2 Duo, it can't run a 64-bit OS, but will run 32-bit Vista.
What's the 7-character model number of your ThinkPad?
Good luck and let us know.

  • Can't install itunes (vista)

    i've tried for times....
it keeps telling me" This installation could bot be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package."........

Are you logged on as an administrator? It is also possible that right clicking on the installer and selecting run as Administrator might help.
Occasionally installing from another admin account works.
But I am wondering about a Visial basic scripting issue.
Which version of iTunes are you trying to install, and do you have and earlier version installed or is this a new install. If you have an earlier verion, which one was it?
The latest iTunes doesn't use visual basic script but uninstalling and old version may require it.
If you have an old version of iTunes installed, try the following -
open the cmd Window as follows:
click Start, type cmd in the Start Search box, right-click cmd.exe, and then click Run as administrator.
    in the cmd window, type:
    regsvr32 vbscript.dll
You should get message that the registering succeeded.

  • I want to get windows vista on the macbook pro with retina display but my first question is this that how do i install it without using a DVD OR CD disk drive, and my second question while installing windows vista do i have to tick mark the install win 7

hello i have a few problems and i hope somebody has a solution my first problem is that how can i install windows vista without using a disk drive and my second problem is that should i tick mark the option which says Install windows 7 while using boot camp please reply, Thanks,

When running Windows in a virtual environment Windows and OSx share your computer's resources such as RAM. Therefore your games can not use all your computer's resources when running.
If you install Windows natively then Windows and your games can and do use all your computer's resource such as RAM.
But as already said, older operating systems are not supported and will not run natively using Boot Camp Assistant. You must use Windows 7 if installing natively in Lion or Moubtain Lion.

On the Toshiba website I can find all drivers for Vista 64bit on Satellite A350 so it should all working properly with Vista 64. Check it yourself:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com => Support & Downloads => Download Drivers
But note there are two different BIOS versions available One for 32bit and one for 64bit. After installing Vista 64bit you must update the BIOS too.

  • Can i load windows vista even if boot camp only supports windows 7?

Can i still load windows vista, even if boot camp now only seems now to support windows 7? I had loaded it previously same mac same windows vista but took it off becuase of a hardware issue. now when i want to use it again (playing games mostly) i can load vista but all sotes of things are not working internet connection and graphics and the driver disk that is made through bootcamp says noy that in order to use it i need to be running windows 7 .
    Can anyone help
    Cheers
    Rob

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
On OS X Mountain Lion, Boot Camp only supports Windows 7, so you can't install Windows Vista or XP, and if you install Windows Vista or XP, you won't be able to install Boot Camp drivers because they aren't supported under XP and Vista.
If your Mac came with DVDs, insert the Mac OS X DVD (or the Snow Leopard DVD) that came with the computer and install Boot Camp drivers. If your Mac didn't come with DVDs, you can't get Boot Camp drivers for Vista

  • How many hdd's can I install in Quicksilver

Have the SIIG Serial ATA 4 Channel PCI-M card running one 250GB HDD at the present with 1 running off the original system bus. How many can I add total to this system? Owners manual states I can run only 2 total in this machine. Is it true that now I can add a large HDD to the original bay without using the SIIG card and whole capacity will be recognized?
    G4 Quicksilver 733 896mb ram   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Hi
You should be able to install four hard drives fairly easily.
You can physically fit four into the case, one in the front bay, one in the middle bay and two in the rear bay (one on top of the other in the U shaped bracket).
Assuming you don't have a Zip drive installed, you have the Molex power connectors for four drives, although you may need an extension cable so the power connector that's intended for the Zip drive will reach one of the hard drives. If you do have a Zip drive installed, you'd need a splitter cable to power two drives off one cable.
You have the data connectors for at least four drives. Two ATA drives can be connected to the onboard ATA controller and four SATA drives can be connected to the SATA PCI card (assuming it's a four port version).
The capacity limitation still applies to drives connected to the onboard ATA controller via the ribbon cable. Large drives can be added to any bays, but they must be connected to the PCI card for the full capacity to be recognised.
The manual probably says two ATA drives can be installed (using the onboard ATA controller) or three SCSI drives can be installed (using the supplied SCSI PCI card if relevant). There's no reason why you can't add additional drives using a SATA PCI card.

  • Can I install the same Creative Suite in my laptop too, when I already have it installed in my PC?

I have installed CS6 in my PC and registered the product with Adobe. I was doing fine untill my client wanted me to carry my laptop to a meeting to show them designs and make changes real time. I wanted to install the same pack in my laptop, though I dont intend to use both the machines together, thought I should give it a try and use them one at a time. But its not installing the essential softwares (Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign) and says it already has some other location.
My question is can I install/use the same suite in both machines and use one at a time?

My question is can I install/use the same suite in both machines and use one at a time?
    Yes, you can do so.
But its not installing the essential softwares (Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign) and says it already has some other location.
When you say not installing the essential softwares, what exactly your mean? Apart from these 3 applications, all other installed fine. Do you get any error message?
Please ellaborate the exact issue with application and operating system details.
