PSE 10 for pc-edit photo stopped launching/working

I am trying to edit a photo and it stopped launching the workspace. What am I doing wrong or how can I fix this.  I have edited a bunch of pics and it just stopped launching. I have re-started the program AND my computer with no success. Any suggestions would help

Bypass the Unwelcome Screen by creating Desktop shortcuts for the Organizer and the Editor, and restarting your computer.
The Editor's executable is:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe"
The Organizer's executable is:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 10 Organizer\PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe"
The Unwelcome Screen leaves a zombie process running which prevents the actual program from launching again.

  • Strategy for managing edited photos

I have never used a non-destructive editor before. So I am wondering what a good strategy would be for managign allthe originals plus the edited versions. It seems to me that could get out of control very quick.
I am using version 5 and I mostly intend to clean up my photos and post them to Flickr or something like that. Usually full resolution.
    Thanks

There are a few different approaches you can take in seperating the edited photos from the un-edited ones.
The first thing to note is that all edits are non-destructive, so it's not necessary to organize them seperately from un-edited copites of the image.
If you like to compare edited from non-edited versions you can view before and after shots in the Develop module:
You can also save you edits as a Snapshot to come back to and view later:
Photos with an adjustment applied will have the following icon, so that you can immediately know if they are edited or untouched:
These are all great ways of distingishing edits you've made to your images. However, if you'd still like to seperate them, you can create seperate collections for your edited photos:
To do this, I would start by creating a Collection Set for all the images in that upload.
From there, you can create collections that will be organized underneath that Collection Set
From there, you can make as many collections as you would like.
    For example:
    All images - unedited
    Best images - unedited
Best of the Best - unedited
Best of the Best - edited
or however you would like to organize them!
JUST REMEMBER that all of these collections and groups that you are making are not effecting how your images are being organized on the back end. It's up to you to choose the right place for your images, and if you move them or remove them they will not be available in Lightroom as Lightroom does not save copies of your images, and only meta data for your oranizations and adjustments.
    Hope this helps!

  • Mac Book Air 13" the right device for occasionally editing photos?

    Hello!
I am owner of an iMac 24" and know I want to replace my three years old thinkpad. Mainly, I am using my iMac for editing photos. With the MacBook Air I also want to be flexible to edit my photos also during a holiday or in the train etc. Do you think there will be a problem to work with RAW files with the processors of the MacBook Air? And is there a big different between the 1,86Ghz and 2,13Ghz processor that would make any big changes on editing photos? I am working with Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.

MacWorld did a comparative evaluation of the October 2008 MBA with 1.86 GHz processor and the Mid-2009 MBA with 2.13 GHz chip. Their conclusion was that that 1.86 CPU was actually FASTER than the 2.13 in most applications.
    http://www.macworld.com/article/141296/2009/06/macbookairmid09.html
They speculated that the 2.13 chip was being throttled by Apple to control heat issues and that's why it tested SLOWER than the (supposedly) slower 1.86 part.
Have to wait for testing of these new MBA units to know if the same thing occurs. But, for the Rev. B and C MBAs, the 1.86 part was actually faster in real world use!

    hi,
I have installed pse on my computer and up until now it's been running fine. Now when I go to open it it states that the 'Licensing For This Product Has Stopped Working'.
I've tried restarting as suggested in the Error 150:30, still the problem remains. It suggested that I contact support.

  • PSE 9 opens last edited image when launched

    Hi
I'm new to PSE 9 (running on an new iMac and Mac OS X 10.7.2).
This is my problem: After launching PSE 9, the application opens the last image I edited before I closed the application.
    To make it clear:
    1. I edit an image in PSE 9 and save it.
    2. I close PSE 9.
    3. I launch PSE 9 again.
    4. PSE 9 opens this last image again without being asked to do so.
Is this normal? Is there a way to avoid this?
    Thank you for your help!
    Best regards
    Carlo

Try dragging out the tab containing the image; so that it floats.
Then drag the triangle corner at the bottom right - you can cover a big part of the screen real estate whilst still keeping the tools pallet and menu bar visible.
You can also click Edit à Preference à General
Then check the item Zoom With Scroll Wheel
That will let you fill or reduce the window contents quite quickly.

  • How can I set the default save format for photoshop edited photos?

I just spotted that some of my photos that I've edited in Photoshop from Lightroom are a whopping 450MB. Looking deeper I found that they are saved as uncompressed TIFF files, this despite the default save format for Photoshop in Lightroom's preferences being set to ZIP compressed TIFF files. So why doesn't this setting work and how can I make Photoshop save things compressed?

Sounds funny but first tell us what version of PS you have, what version of Lr and which OS. Thanks.

  • Search for missing nearby photos does not work (Win XP Pro)

nothing ever happens, just the 0% next to Lightroom on Windows taskbar can be seen for any length of time. When trying to cancel the task, also nothing happens, just the information "cancelling" which can be read in Lightroom window just below the "Search for nearby missing..." and next to it a red cross.
This function worked fine for me in Lightroom version 1, but since upgrade to v.2 no longer.
Another strange thing is, that when trying to restore LR from Win task bar, the left click has no function, only by rigth click and thereafter click "Restore".

    Hi
I dont see any serious reasons why your card reader shouldnt run/function with installed Windows XP.
What you need is the right driver.
The Toshiba driver page provides all Win XP drivers and there is also an XP driver for the multi card reader.
You need a Texas Instruments Flash Media Driver. This is a driver for your Bridge Media Slot.
This slot lets you insert either a SD card, Memory Stick (Pro) or xD picture card.
    Cheers

  • Editing photos (from iphoto) in PSE 11

I've recently upgraded to PSE 11 from PSE 10. Previously, when I click edit in iphoto, the photo that I want to edit automatically opens up in PSE 10 and I can do my edit rightaway.
However, the photo does not open up automatically in PSE 11 now. My computer will launch PSE 11 but I have to manually load the photo for editing.
I've done the necessary settings in iphoto (i.e edit using external editor) but it's still not working like it used to.
Is this a change in feature in PSE 11 or I'm missing something here?
Appreciate all advice and tips on this.
    Thank you.

In iphoto, for any edited photo (no matter where you edited), to see the original, select the edited photo and go to Photo>Revert to Original. iPhoto remembers your original, but versions in iphoto don't work the same way the do in PSE, at least not when you use an external editor. iPhoto assumes that if you want to use another program for editing, you want to use that other program for editing. If you want to use iphoto instead, you would need to revert it. If you want to have both available, the original and PSE edit, some versions of iphoto automatically send a duplicate for editing, but I don't think the latest version does, so make a duplicate in iphoto and send that to PSE.
An external editor is by definition external --the photo left iphoto to get edited. The external editor mechanism merely lets you  get your edited photos back into iphoto again automatically.

  • PSE 8 (for Mac) refuses to launch - with message

Just tried to launch PSE 8 (for Mac), it didn't launch, but produced the message: "Could not open scratch file because disk is not available."
(tried this four times with the same result each time)
Conclusion: because the most recent backup to RAID filled that disk, PSE 8 cannot access the scratch disk on the RAID backup disk.
(This, even though I removed over 80 GB of old video files from the archive.)
I purchased PSE 8 11/28/2009 - can I use an app removal utility to remove this installed version and re-download another installer?  It seems the most direct approach but first I have to ensure I can download a "replacement" and find out the original serial number to activate that replacement.
The original directions from Adobe indicate that all I have to do is access my order history and the serial number will be on the order form.  I'm not seeing any clearly identified serial number on that order.
    So my question are;
    1. Should I first remove the original PSE 8 - or just the plists?
    2. how to find the original serial number?
I do know already: once I have PSE 8 replacement installation running, I must set a scratch disk location on another (roomier) drive. this is not a problem: I have two 1 TB drives installed in my Mac Pro in addition to the two 500 GB drives which make up the (old) RAID.
Mac Pro 1,1 (2.66 Ghz Quad Core Xeon), OS 10.5.8

Good call but it didn't work: tried deleting those plists twice.  Still get "disk not available" message w/ immediate PSE quit.
Further: I ran Diskwarrior on my "home" drive, the cloned "home" drive AND the RAID backup.
This included Directory repair, File Check and Hardware Check on all three volumes.
Also repaired permissions on "home" drive and cloned drive.
I then repeated the attempt to launch PSE 8 on my "home" drive and the cloned "home" drive: same result. (failure)
Sidebar: While running Disk Utility to repair permissions, I happened to click on the "RAID" button and found that
one drive is listed as "Failed" and the other is listed as "Degraded."
Just in case that has anything to do with the PSE 8 failure to launch: I am now using Disk Utility to rebuild that RAID set.  This takes 4 hours and will wipe it clean.  I'll try in the morning once again to launch PSE 8 and get back with result.

  • How do you save and email an edited photo in iPhoto 08?

I've been using 08 since the beginning with no problems.  I want to mail an edited photo but when I try the process fails.  A normal photo mails fine, but there is no "save as" option with non-destructive editing.  Surely there is a work-around.

Is this for all edited photos or just that one?  If it's for all try this:  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos and check to see if the same problem persists.
If the problem dissappears with the new library then it's your old library that the problem. If that's the case make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

You haven't said what version of PSE you are using but the general solution to this problem is to re-install the product from your original disks.  Have you got the disks for your product and the related serial number?

Unfortunately when Adobe products are restored from backup, especial CS4 and especially Mac, it breaks licensing.
There is a python script included in the license recovery kit that should work if you are familiar with Terminal.
If not, you must reinstall your CS4 suite.  You don't need to delete your preferences, so it should be the same as before.
