PSE 10 Install not starting Mac

I have OS X 10.6.6 and was given PSE 10 as a gift on disk.  Trying to install and after inserting first disk - it is not recognizing the disks and will not play.  I have QuickTime and it plays other DVD's just fine.  I opened the disk folders and tried opening files... nothing has worked.
Thanks

Did you try just disc 3?  The (very limited and frustratingly lacking) instruction on the disc itself says "to install for mac os: start with disc 3".
I just bought this myself tonight; I have it installed but haven't figured out much else.

I had PSE 12 installed on my Mac that died a sudden death yesterday. I can't find anywhere to download 12....everything takes me to 13. After spending $$$$$$ on a new computer, I can't outlay another $79 to upgrade to 13. Anyone have any advice for me?

You need to go to this link:
    <Download Photoshop Elements products | 13, 12, 11, 10>
    Good luck.

  • PSE 12 does not start on iMac with Mavericks

I just bought PSE 12 and installed it on my new (1 week old) iMac (late 2013, 21,5", 2,9 GHz, FusionDrive) with Mavericks.
Installation worked fine and finished complete.
When I double-click the PSE12 icon, it show up in the dock for 2 seconds and then disappears.
What is the problem - how to get PSE 12 starting?
I am helpless ... if I can not start the application, I would return it to the Dealer.

After heated discussions with Adobe CS, they gave me a one-time free support case number to resolve this problem.  I had to log into my Mac as "root" user (after setting up the root account via System Pref/Users & Groups), and initiate the install from there.  Perhaps you can log in as root, and see if PSE 12 stays up from that account.  Otherwise, you may want to check whether it stays running while you are off-line. (i.e., no internet connection)  I don't know for sure, but the software might be trying to verify your software with Adobe.com, and failing there.

  • PSE 10 organizer not starting - never worked

    Hi,
I have installed PSE 10.0 on my PC running Windows 7 Pro SP1.  I can happily edit images in PSE, but I cannot start the Organizer.  When I start PSE the initial screen is displayed giving me options Orgainize and Edit, when I click on Organize the progress bar displays for a few seconds then nothing happens - no error messages, no dialogs nothing.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance, Steve.

Bypass the Unwelcome Screen by creating Desktop shortcuts for the Organizer and the Editor, and restarting your computer.
    The Editor's executable is:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe"
    The Organizer's executable is:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 10 Organizer\PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe"
The Unwelcome Screen leaves a zombie process running which prevents the actual program from launching again.

  • Pse 7 does not start

elements 7 will not start on my laptop.  due to circumstances i have not used it in a while but now when i click on the icon or go in through the program list it will not start.  i thought of reinstalling it but worry that all the work i did on organizing my photos will be lost.  i also have thought i would upgrade to 9 but again with this problem am afraid my organization work is gone.  any help?  or am i just hooped and will lose my organization efforts on my files.  obviously i have had the program for a couple of years and have never had this problem before.
    pammay88

Don’t worry your work will not be lost. Everything will be stored in the catalog data base.
Are you trying to launch the organizer from the desktop? Can you launch the Editor from the application file and then click on Organizer from within Editor?
Did the program close properly last time you used it?
Press ctrl+alt+delete to launch the task manager. Then click on the Processes tab and make sure no adobe programs are running in the background. If they are highlight; then click end process. Close task manager and try to re-launch Elements as usual.

  • PSE 8 install question for Mac PowerBook G4, "Does not support PowerPC architecture CPU..."

I am getting the following message during attempted install of Photoshop Elements 8 for my Mac PowerBook G4 (OS 10.4.11):
"This product does not support PowerPC architecture CPU. Please upgrade or adjust your system to meet these requirements."
I double-checked system requirements listed online before purchasing software, and also checked requirements listed on outside of box before opening it. All looked fine,
Searching Adobe help has turned up nada, any thoughts out there?
    Thanks in advance,
    Laura

    Hi Laura,
I guess you must have missed something or misinterpreted something. Please check the requirements mentioned on the web page: http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshopelmac/systemreqs/
which clearly says that it needs an  Intel® processor which means an iMac machine, Mac PPC are not supported in PSE 8 anymore.

This computer has had some previous Photoshop versions migrated to it over the years (Photoshop 4.0 for OS 9, and Photoshop 7.0).  Photoshop 7.0 stopped working after I upgraded the OS from Tiger to Snow Leopard, and I no longer have the disks or serial number so that is why I'm trying install PSE 10.  Could these old versions (which I tried to delete, but did not have a specific uninstall version for) be a source of this issue?  If so, is there a way to make sure they're all gone?
    Thanks

  • PSE 12 will not start up.  Stays on Main Screen.  Windows 7.  Please help if you can.

I have a Windows 7 machine--2 of them, actually.  One is my work computer and one is my home computer.  My work computer runs PSE 10 just fine, but my home computer does not.  I bought PSE 12 and installed it last night and it does the SAME THING:  Launches the app to the main screen.  If I choose EITHER "Organize" or "Edit", it shows a progress bar for a few seconds (thinking it is loading) and then that goes away and nothing else happens. I'm disappointed that I spent the money on a new version only for it not to work either.
    Can anyone help me?

  • Ibook not starting Mac OS X...keeps freezing up and asking to be rebooted

    Hi,
Having trouble since I installed the latest OSX Update in that the iBook G4 gets to the opening gray screen (with the spinning wheel) and then feezes with a message saying "You need to restart your computer. Hold down the Saturday, Power button for several seconds or press the Restart button."
Restarting or rebooting does not help. Neither does trying to boot up in Safe Mode. Neither does running fsck seem to do anything (it runs but says that the HD is ok).
I'm a little screwed because I left my OSX disk and other software on CD-Rom at home in Canada while I'm on an extended stay in Europe. In other words I don't have the disk to run Disk Utility from startup. Any suggestions? Can I download anything on another computer, and burn a startup disk of some sort. Or do I need to get somebody to break into my apartment and mail me over the disks? Or am I beyond repair and have to take her in to a German reseller for service?
    iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

An Apple Authorized Service Provider in Europe should be able to help you out with the correct install disks for your iBook. They may charge you to help out, though... Without some troubleshooting using your disks, it might be difficult to figure out what's wrong with your iBook.

    Thanks.

    Hi there!
Sounds like the hard disk drive may be bad, or have bad sectors or file structures.
Perhaps a bootable disk tool (or the OS X installer which is bootable and has a
disk utility on it) would be necessary to hope to fix the errors on the drive; or to
be able to further study the problem to see if the hard disk drive may have failed.
Since the hard disk drives in iBook G4s are not so easy to exchange with a new
replacement, though that probably is a necessity, some users try to check and
repair the internal drive before replacing it. A tool such as Disk Warrior is helpful.
And any supported retail version of OS X the machine can use, in appropriate
disc media, should be able to start the computer (hold C on start) and be able to
use the Installer's Disk Utility to repair disk. That may not be enough; but you
can also verify disk to see if it passes the SMART test. Sometimes these do,
but still have issues requiring eventual replacement if they are well-used iBooks.
If you have a second Mac running OS X, you could see if the portable in question
could boot into FireWire Target Disk Mode, and then be seen as an external HDD.
With a FireWire cable, you may be able to see if the iBook's drive could be repaired
from a Disk Utility version in a host computer, so attached. (Use FW 6-pin to 6-pin.)
I have not tried this; so you may wish to check out the Support page for Target Disk
Mode, and other reading to see if there is a problem with this idea!
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Can not start Mac OS 9.1

I have a Mac OS 9.1 that will not go past the happy mac at startup! What is wrong with it? It was working well, but I was using microsoft word, and it froze. After I restarted it, it does not startup!!

    Hi, ~`~ -
If the CD drive is working, the machine should be able to boot to your retail OS 9 Install CD.
And the hard drive is rather new!
P.S. I have two hard drives!
An iMac can hold only one hard drive - is one of those external? Or has the one hard drive been partitioned into two volumes (for most things, each volume is treated by the Mac as if it were a separate hard drive)?
If the new hard drive is 8GB or larger, then this Apple KBase article applies -
Article #25249 - Gray or White Screen After Hard Drive Upgrade
That article states that on the early iMacs, those whose processor speed is less than 350MHz such as yours is, all OS's must be installed completely within the first 8GB of the hard drive in order for the OS to be bootable.
The usual solution for this is to partition the drive such that the first partition is slightly less than 8GB (7.7GB is a useful max size), and then install all OS's on that volume.
Although an OS 9 install on an unpartitioned 8GB-or-larger drive may initially be within the first 8GB, and thus be usable, later OS updates may result in part of the OS being outside that limit - it then becomes non-bootable.
Note that the requirement is within the first 8GB of the drive. If the drive has been partitioned adequately, but OS 9 is installed on the second partition, the volume outside the 8GB limit, it will not be bootable.
Unfortunately, OS 9 installers do not check for compliance with this requirement. However, OSX installers do check for this - they will refuse to install on any volume on such a machine which is not contained entirely within the first 8GB of the drive.

  • MacBook pro does not start. How can I back to Mac OS X Lion?

I have a MacBook Pro. On my MacBook i made three partition, then I installed window 8. After that I started windos and try to delete third partition by Administrator tool from windows operating system. After that my MacBook does not start. How can I back to Mac OS X Lion?
After that I again install windows 8 from a DVD. Windows start well, but I can not start Mac OS system, may be it was 10.6.  Sever times I tried to install OS X Lion 10.7 thought DVD, I could not. On MacBook I have a lot of important data.
What can I do. I want to a complete suggestion. Please help me to solve the problem.
My MacBook Pro model no. A1286.

You installed Windows improperly the result of which was to wipe out the bootloader for OS X. You can give this a try:
    Boot Using OPTION key:
      1. Restart the computer.
      2. Immediately after the chime press and hold down the
          "OPTION" key.
      3. Release the key when the boot manager appears.
      4. Select the OS X disk icon from which you want to boot.
      5. Click on the arrow button below the icon.
If you are still unable to boot from the OS X volume then you will need to reinstall OS X:
Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
    1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.
This will destroy the Windows bootloader so you cannot boot into Windows. The solution is to remove all the partitions on the drive except the OS X partition, then expand the OS X partition to take up the entire drive.
Use Boot Camp Assistant in the Utilities folder to create a Windows partition on which you can install Windows. You cannot have any other partitions on the drive besides these two.
Now given all the above you may be able to install a third-party bootloader that would work with the setup you now have: Boot Runner 1.4.
