PSE 10 organizer crash

Recently I transferred my 18.000+ PSE 10 catalog to another hard drive. Everything went well but ....
After importing the first batch of new photo's the organizer suddenly crashed. This never happened before.
For the last 10 days I have been searching for a solution with no result. Among other options I have removed the Thumb.5.cache file, and removed the psa.prf and status.dat files. Concerning the first option, removing the Thumb.5.cache file, it seemed to work, but after rebuilding the cache file the organizer crashed again.
I am getting kind of desperate, is there anybody out there who has any idea's?
Thank you in advance,
Laurens Swarte

The solution is in the above.
Should Adobe read this, they should take note that a virtualized environment does not provide a decent fidelity emulation of multi-core CPU systems.  The ONLY way to test the reliability of an application is on REAL hardware.

    Hi deepsea285,
You can try to Update the video card driver.
Many video card manufacturers frequently update their software drivers. If you haven't recently updated the video card driver,
    If still issue Persists,
    1. Re-create the Elements Organizer preferences file.
Navigate to the Elements Organizer settings folder:
    Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Application Data\Adobe\Elements Organizer\[Version]\Organizer\
    Win Vista/7/8: C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Elements Organizer\[Version]\Organizer\
    Macintosh OS: //Users/[User Name]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Elements Organizer/[Version]/Organizer/
NOTE: Some of the folders in these paths could be hidden. To reveal them, see:
Show hidden files, folders, filename extensions | Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7
Access hidden user library files | Mac OS 10.7 Lion
       2. Rename psa.prf to psa.old.
       3. Retry launching Elements Organizer

  • PSE 12 organizer crashes continually after movie project in Premiere 12

I have PSE 12 both organizer and Premiere. I've completed a movie project after first working up a slide show in Organizer but when I tried to burn my dvd the program did not recognize my burner (which is LG's HL-DT-ST GH24NS50 SC SI) so I burned to a folder. Then tried to burn with both Windows DVD maker and Wondershare Video burner neither of which recognised the files containing the movie titles & scene intro-s. A 2nd problem has also developed during the process of completing the project. My PSE organiser now crashes as soon as it loads the media so I'm now virtually locked out of my photos. The only new files added to the organizer since I started this project are those coming from Premiere ie narrations etc.Can anyone suggest a way to fix these problems. Thanks

Thank you for your response. I've downloaded Image Burn but haven't yet had the opportunity to try it out. I'll try it out tomorrow along with an attempt to get Premiere to recognize my drive which again is fast and up to date.
My computer is a Windows 7 64 bit machine with 8 GB RAM and loads of free disk space. I suspect my programs are still the original 12 version but I have tried to invoke any upgrades in the past. It seems they must not have worked.
Regarding the Organiser problem, I have deleted the psa.prf file as you suggested but that failed to make any difference - the program still closes immediately after being launched. It doesn't stay open long enough for me to create a new catalog.
Do you have any further suggestions? And thanks once again for your help so far.

  • PSE 9 Organizer Crash reinstall

PSE 9 Organizer has been cashing on launch for the past 5 days.  It does it in any manner in which I launch, sometimes during initializing something or other, sometimes getting to the organizer page and that page disappearing and being replaced by a report form (one to Apple, the other to Adobe)  Iam running it on an Apple Macbook.
In order to stop this frustration, I am thinking about uninstall / reinstall.  My question:  If I do this, will I lose all of my previous work in Elements?

Reinstalling almost never fixes crashing problems. First try holding down the command and shift keys while you launch the organizer to bring up the catalog manager and see if you can repair and optimize your catalog.

  • PSE 7 Organizer crash/stall/fail

I've been using PSE 7 Organizer in Windows XP without problems for quite awhile. Recently, the program locks up on the first image in the library. The hourglass shows and it says "generating thumbnails," yet nothing seems to happen. I generally have to hard exit the program (using the Task Manager). Please help.

    HI Alex,
    Try the following:
    1). Go to "C:\Documents and Settings\[Your Username]\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\7.0" and rename the 'Organizer' folder to 'Organizer_OLD'.
2). Now, go to the catalog location and move the 'thumb.5.cache' file to the desktop. The default location for your catalog can possibly be either of these:
    C:\Documents and Settings\<Your Username>\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\Catalogs\<Catalog Name>
    Or,
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\Catalogs\<Catalog Name>.
    Hope this helps!

  • Pse 7 organizer crashes when outputting slide show

PSE 7 closes down with the message that organizer has encountered a problem when I try to output a slide show in any form - create wmv, send to Premier Elements, write cd/dvd - a part of the file is actually output since I am able to go in and find it - once about 180 mb once about 60 mb. I have gone through the process adobe reccommends of deleting pref files, uninstalling cd/dvd drives, changing registry, uninstall, reinstall etc.  all to no avail.  I am able to do a slide show in Elements 6 and output that to Premier Elements.  Is there a way to open the PSE 7 slide show in PSE 6?   I really don't want to have to go back and recreate the slide show if I don't have too.
I should add that I sat and watched taskmanager while the process of exporting was being attempted and it doesn't appear that the problem is a computer related memory problem.  I also read the information created when the incident occured in the elements log (I couldn't  understand enough of what I was reading to find where things went wrong)
    Any help would be great.
    Mary Lou

I am also having the problem with crashes using PSE 7 when I try to take thenewly created album and export it to a CD/DVD. I get a message that PSE has an error and must be shut down. I am running Vista 32 bit with 4MEG or memory and an additional 4 MEG of flash.  Is there a update or download I can use to eliminate this problem in Organizer? I wouuld appreciate any assistance.

  • PSE 8 organizer crashes when I try to create a slide show

I'm running Win7 ultimate 64 on my core i7 machine, with a radeon 5850 graphics card.  When I'm in PSE8 organizer and I try to create a slide show, the program crashes immediately.  PSE8 seems to function normally and I haven't had issues yet with editing photos with any of the tools.  Any ideas for a fix?

I've got the same problem. I have just bought a Windows 7 PC with an i7 processor and 8Gb RAM. This wasn't an issue with my previous PC running Windows XP and PSE 6 so I thought it was down to PSE 6 and Windows 7 being somehow incompatible. I therefore downloaded a trial of PSE 8 but this also crashes every time I try to create a slide show.
I have uninstalled Intervideo WinDVD as recommended by John's link and followed the other instructions as well but this bug doesn't seem to go away.
However a workaround for me is that I can open previous slide shows (created under Windows XP and PSE 6), edit them and save as a new project. The slide show function is still very very unstable however and I have to save after each single successful action. It seems to crash at random but mostly when I try to insert any music into a project. It can be very frustrating and time-consuming for something that should be a very simple task for a grown-up, expensive program.
Anybody got any other ideas? Of course I've reported this to Adobe but I'm not expecting a reply (I've never had one so far so why should they change?).

  • PSE 9: Organizer crashes

When I run Organizer I get the following error message.
"Elements 9 Organizer has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience."
Organizer will start, but this message will appear when I attempt a command like facial recognition or even I navigate help screens.  I am a new user to PSE and the application was installed for the first time a couple of days ago.  Since the installation, I have imported my pictures with no issues.  I have navigated the application, created albums again with no issue.  The problem stated when I attempted to manually run the auto-analyzer.  That tool consistently crashed the application.  The tool seemed to crash on 1 out of 5 pictures.  The last time that I ran the auto-analyzer, two system error messages were generated one from the auto-analyzer and the second from Organizer.  Since that event Organizer error message have consistently occured.
I have attempted to unistall and re-install using the Adobe tools, but this has had no effect.
Any thoughts to correct this issue?  This has been a very frustrating start to say the least.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    I have a same problem.
    OS- Mac Os 10.9.5
I recently purchased PSE13, It worked for some day and suddenly started crashing.  I uninstalled, restarted mac and reinstalled PSE but the problem continued.
I followed  steps given in this forum
-Go to your username>library>preferences and delete
    - com.adobe.Elements Organizer.13.0.plist
    - then go to Saved Application States (at the same level as preferences) and delete.
    Deleted file
    com.adobe.ElementsOrganizer13.savedState/
repaired the catalog but still PSE organizer is crashing.
Did anybody get the solution for this problem? Please help.

  • Constant pse 9 organizer crash on mac

    Hello,
I am on a MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo and Organizer constantly crashes immediately upon opening.
A few days ago I had posted this problem with a trial version of pse 9 and meanwhile despite the problem purchased the software hoping it was only a bug of the trial version - but it is not. I had deinstalled the trial version including the prefs using Adobe's deinstaller program before reinstalling the purchased version. Today I also updated to OSX 10.6.5 but that does not make a difference either.
Pse 9 itself works fine, it's just the Organizer that refuses to perform.
As this problem occurs on my iMac i5 as well I find it hard to believe that I should be the only one with this experience. Anybody with a clue?
    Thanks beforehand!

    Update:
Unfortunately I was too fast with my last message and the problem is only solved on my MacBook Pro, not on my iMac.
Barbara, where exactly is this plist file you mentioned? I found and deleted ElementScenario.plist in the folder
    Macintosh HD/library/application support/Adobe/Elements Organizer/9.0/
This also contained a file named UUID.plist which I also deleted and I then have to select the language when restarting.
One more detail: Organizer upon launching shows a message saying (in German, I'm translating): "Since last start new files have been downloaded and will now be included in the catalogue. Do you wish them to be displayed in the media browser?" You can only chose yes or nor and either way the following import scheme seems to cause the crash. How do I avoid this?
    Thanks!

  • PSE Downloader/Organizer Crashes on iMac

Recently downloaded PE 12; installed after PE 12 disk failed to install properly on my iMac (mid-2010 version running OSX 10.9.4.  Downloader crashes when downloading Nikon RAW 14 bit files (D7100) except when very few on SDHC card.  Thumbnails are there on restart but then can't delete files from card with Downloader.  Organizer slow to load and also crashes frequently.  PSE 9 & 11 both ran without difficulty on this computer.  Is there a remedy?

First go to the editor>help>updates and update to 12.1. if you don't have it yet. Then I would start the organizer while holding down the shift key to bring up the catalog manager and repair and optimize your catalog.

  • Why does PSE 11 organizer crash when I try to create a new album?

I recently purchased PSE 11 to replace PSE 10. When I entered the Organizer, everything worked well until I tried to create a new category under a category that had already been created. After several attempts (and crashes) I rebooted the computer and succeeded in creating the new category. When I then attempted repeatedly to create a new album within the new category, the Organizer again crashed several times. I suspect that rebooting the computer will fix the immediate problem, but this should not occur in the first place and is unacceptable as an ongoing problem.

There is apparently something wrong with the Elements Auto Analyzer. When I ended the auto-analyzer process in Windows Task Manager, I was able to add albums to an existing category without crashing the Organizer. I was also able to add albums in Safe Mode, so there may be a driver conflict or other conflict with one of my other programs.

  • PSE 9 Organizer crashes continually

I installed PSE 9 on my macbook pro, imported about 6000 pictures into the organizer, and now it crashes a couple of times a day. Really frustrating! Does anyone have any ideas? thanks.

  • PSE 8 Organizer crash

I can get into the Editor but not the Organizer. I'm not sure if I caused this when I stopped the upload to Shutterfly or what>
    Please help

Try step 7 of this FAQ:

If that doesn't help, try all the other steps.

  • PSE 11 organizer crashes

I´m trying to set up PSE 11 . But as soon as I start the Organizer the PSE program collapses. The editor part of the program is running fine. Has anybody an idea what I can do ? (My system: Win 7, 64 bit, Program on SSD, photos on 2nd disk in PC). Thankful for any advice.

Start PSE to get to the Welcome screen.
Hold down the Ctrl + Shift keys and click Organizer. Keep holding down the keys until you see the Catalog window.
Select your catalog and click Repair.  Select “repair anyway” even if PSE doesn’t find problems.
Then for good measure, click Optimize.
If repairing resolves your issue then fine else repeat the above steps, but click New to create a new catalog.  If you’re able to import photos into the new catalog and the Organizer works fine, then problem can be old catalog.
Check for Task Manager and end the "ElementsAutoAnalyzer.exe" file and then try.
    - Try launching Organizer directly from the exe with Admin rights.
Some more solutions once you try these are here http://forums.adobe.com/message/4994459#4994459
    Thanks,
    Garry
