PSE 10 Printing - Drag to Resize Print?

Hey guys,
My dad has recently upgraded from Photoshop Elements 2 to 10 (as PSE 2 did not support a primary hard drive of over 1TB). He's settling in nicely except that we cannot figure out how to drag-to-resize the print on the Print screen like you can in PSE 2. In PSE 2 you could use little anchor points to resize the image dynamcally (akin to the functionality in Word, Paint, etc) and to freely move it around but in PSE 10 we can only do it by changing numbers via Select Print Size > Custom > Height and Width which then proceedes to resize a *mask* not the image. We would be find with this if you could resize the mask or even zoom out of the image.. But you can only zoom in.
This seems like a severe lack of functionality to us. Why has Adobe taken such a step back in regard? Or are we missing something (I don't think we have, but I hope we have).
Thanks.

Two things:
To re-size the image dynamically, first convert the background to a layer by double-clicking the background in the Layers Palette.  Then, using the Move tool, you have anchor points to use to re-size the image.  Then, use the Crop tool to crop the overall canvas size to your new image area.
In the Print dialog, if you hold the cursor over the image's blue border, the cursor changes to a four-sided arrow and you can then position the image on the page.
More fiddly than what you're used to, but more flexible.

  • PSE 11 print quality and picture package options

I've been using PSE 5 since 2006, and figured it's time to check out what's new under the sun.  I downloaded the PSE 11 trial version, whose editing function offers slightly better enhanced photos than PSE 5, but seems to fall short in two areas of importance to me:  1)  When using the highest quality print settings, PSE 11 prints photos more quickly, but of lower quality than PSE 5.  2)  PSE 5's "print multiple photos" feature lets me print an 8 X 10 photo with my choice of borders, whereas PSE 11's "picture package" feature seems to allow prints with choice of borders only up to 5 X 7.  Unless I'm doing something wrong, I'll just keep my trusty PSE 5.  Thanks for any assistance you're able to provide.  Aloha, Peter

    Yes I did restart PSE7.
    but that did not help
I also tried to remove all  the present llayout-text files except my own, then there was NOTHING to chose from!
So her is one of the layout text file that I use with PSE2 and it is working, when I select paper size A4
    C  21  21
    A4 (3)  10.5  10.5 cm
    0  0 10.5  10.5
    10.5  5.2  10.5  10.5
    0  10.5  10.5  10.5
That txt file did not show in the dropdown select layout,(setting paper size A4  or Letter)
I tried the following txt file, setting papersize Letter
    with the same result
    I  8.5  11.0
    Letter (3)  10.5x10.5 cm
    0  0  4.1  4.1
    4.1  2.0 4.1  4.1
    0  4.1 4.1  4.1
Since there are no (error) messages I do not understand the criteria to meet for showing this layout in the select dropdown list.

  • PSE 10 - Print Dialog box - Preview shows incorrect file

PSE 10 - Print Dialog box - Preview shows incorrect file.  Preview shows an open, but minimized file, however, it does not show the active, open file that I want to print.  Rather than have to go through the organizer to choose the correct file and delete the incorrect file, how can I make sure that the targeted file I want to print appears in the Print dialog preview window and actually prints?

Thanks, Barbara.  I've used PSE for years and never knew this.  Such an easy solution.  Thanks for quick response!

  • PSE 9 prints blank page

PSE 9.0.3 for Mac has started printing blank pages only. I go thru all the proper print dialogs, hit print, I hear my Epson R1900 going thru its full print cycle, but only a blank page comes out. I can also see a blank page if I view the result in Preview. When I take the same picture and print it using PSE 8, it works just fine (I'm glad I kept the old version). I'm running Snow Leopard 10.6.8, have done all the recent software updates, uploaded the latest Adobe drivers, restarted, zapped the PRAM and repaired permissions. Nothing seems to help the PSE 9 printing problem. Does anybody have any idea what is going on?

    Hi Barbara,
No, I’m not sure about that. I don’t know if my Epson R1900 is using the driver supplied by Adobe or the one supplied Apple. I’ve downloaded the latest driver from Epson, and Apple software update says I’m completely up to date. When I check my driver setting in System Preferences/Print&FAX dialog box, I see the printer driver listed as 8.61. I’ve Googled what the most current driver is supposed to be, but can’t find an answer. Anyway, things are working for the moment. By the way, you were alot more helpful than Adobe phone support. After waiting a half an hour, they lost the call during transfer from computer voice to human.
    Thanks for your help,

  • Drag to resize spacing?

Say I have a number of objects selected, how can I drag to resize the spacing between them, but without resizing the objects? By default resizing a number of selected objects does resize the spacing but also the objects themselves.
    Thanks

    jdldn,
If all spacings are identical, you may use Align>Distribute Spacing, setting the new value.
Or, in any case, you may select all objects to be moved and move them by the amount of the first change of spacing, then select all but one and move them by the amount of the second change of spacing, etc.
    Or something similar.

I am trying to resize the the lengths of the address bar and the search bar. I could before using a "line" between them to drag to resize. But this is now not showing. Any ideas?

There is a simple way to try and fix the Issue.
Try '''Resetting '''Your Toolbar to Default and Resize.
'''You can always restore the default toolbar settings by clicking Restore Default Set in the Customize Toolbar window.'''

  • How do I drag to resize an image in Photoshop?

I recently downloaded Photoshop onto a second computer. I'm not sure if that upgraded Photoshop or left me without some options or something. Now I'm unable to click on a photo and drag the corner to resize the image. Why is that? I use that function a lot and would really like to get it back. Thanks!

Whenever I try to resize an image by clicking "image size" it only resizes the canvas. Before, I could click on a single photo and drag the corner to resize the image. If I pressed shift while I did it, it would retain the same dimension ratios. If I pressed control while I dragged the corner, it would let you manipulate the shape so that you could kind of make it 3D. If you put your cursor in the right place, it would also let you rotate the image. It won't even do any of that when I type text onto my canvas. It seems like that function is turned off, and I'd like to know how to use it again.
Maybe I'm saying it wrong. I guess what I really mean is resizing a layer. Like, if I copy and pasted a photo onto a canvas I already have open, I'd want to drag to resize it to fit the canvas.

  • PSE 9 - Printing only center of image

Hi - I am having a problem with printing a few jpegs in PSE 9.  I'm actually trying to use a virtual pdf "printer" to convert a jpeg to a pdf (I'm trying to ultimately merge several jpegs into a final pdf file so I want to convert the jpegs and use a third party software to do the merge).  The jpeg I'm trying to convert is larger (dimensions wise) so I resized it so it would fit on a normal piece of paper.  However, when I go to "print", only the center of the image is printed, despite the fact that the preview looks fine and "Crop to fit" is unchecked.  Any ideas?  Thanks!

Did you specify the correct paper size in the print dialog?  Otherwise, I don't know about the sizing problem.
You don't have to print to a virtual printer to get a .pdf file.  You can use Save As... and select PDF.

  • PSE 8 printing problem with HP 8750 Printer

When trying to print oversized (10 x 11) images in PSE 8 with my HP 8750 printer the printed image looks like a postage stamp.  I've done everything the same as I did with PSE7 and the same printer with no problem.  What could the solution to this?  It's quite frustrating, not to mention the ruined 12x12 paper, which is a bit expensive.  I upgraded to Windows 7 64-bit a few months ago and had no problems installing the printer or PSE 8.  Everything has been working smoothly up to this point.  Has anyone else experienced this problem?
Thanks for any help that you can offer.
    Lizzi

    Hi:
What I should have said is that the image "is the size of" a postage stamp...about 1 inch x 1 inch.
I'm still wrestling with this.  I finally got a page to print out correctly, now the 2nd page is giving me fits, and I though I wrote down all the settings, but apparently I must have missed one.

  • Windows 7 & PSE 8 printing problem

I have Windows 7 and just installed PSE 8. When I go to print in editor (select printer is correct)...and hit print.... The printer changes to wanting to send a fax.  None of my other programs have a problem printing including CS5. I can print from the organizer.   This is a new computer and printer/fax machine. I have spent hours trying different things to no avail. I have had several versions of PSE and always was able to print from the editor.  Any suggestions?
    Thank you.

I had exactly the same problem with the same configuration; WIN7 (64 bit) and PSE 8.  After reading that deleting the FAX driver worked for you, I went to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.  My printer/fax shows up as two separate devices: HP Photosmart Prem-Web C309n-s, and HP Photosmart Prem-Web C309n-s fax.  I renamed the fax entry only, by inserting my initials at the front of the device name (before HP) ... et Voila!, PSE 8 can now find and print to the printer device rather than the fax device.  This should allow you to select and use the fax device when desired, by any program.
To rename the device, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Highlight the fax entry > Select the Toolbar's File entry > Select Printer properties > Select General Tab.  You may rename the device name here, whereas the regular properties displays don't let you rename.
Thanks for asking the question, and posting your own resolution.  I am sure that we are not alone with this issue.

  • PSE 9 printing problem with Epson printer

    hello there,
I am using PSE 9  with Windows XP and Epson 3880 printer. I have re-installed all programs/drivers a couple of times. PSE9 Printer dialogue will not let me print choosing "Let Photoshop Manage Colour".  It will only let me print with "Let Printer Manage Colour".  I am using Epson papers.
When I select "Let Photoshop Manage Colour", a box appears saying "ICC profile no longer available" and it won't let me print.  Is this a PSE 9 problem or an Epson problem?
    thanks !!!

Well, I actually found the answer. I spoke to an Epson Rep!
I used to have the Epson 2200 printer, then the Epson 3800, and now I use the 3880 printer on Windows XP and Windows 7 on my laptop.
When you uninstall the other 2 printers, the color profiles are still in your program files and can become corrupted.
This is why, in PSE 9, when I checked the box Let Photoshop Elements Manage Colour, it woildn`t print and instead there was the pop-up box ``ICC profile no longer available`` because it was trying to access the old paper profiles and not the ones that came with the 3880. I use Epson papers, by the way.
The solution was to go into C-Drive, Program Files, System 32, spool, drivers, colour, and this opens to the ICC profiles used by the printer. Then I deleted the old paper profiles associated with my former printers.
    And it worked !!

  • Pse 13 printing picture package

I recently upgraded to PSE 13 and the old way of printing picture packages no longer seems available. How do I print a picture package? thanks.

Which operating system are you using with pse 13?
Which version of photoshop elements and operating system were you using before?
How were you printing the picture package in your older version?

  • PSE 13 Printing weirdness

    Has anyone else experienced this?
I am printing a number of pictures from a folder (Windows 7). I load the photo into PSE 13, and print it. Fine so far.  Now I load the next photo into PSE 13, select print, and the preview shows the previous photo! And, in fact, that's what will print.
Both photos show in the column to the left of the preview box, but clicking on the new photo in that column does NOT select it. In fact, the only way to print the correct photo is to use the "remove" function to delete the old one from the column on the left.
Worse, when you get up to printing, say 5 or 6 photos, the problems persists, and even if you delete the old photo(s) when printing the new one, the next time you go back to the printing setup, not only is the wrong photo selected and previewed again, but every photo you've printed shows up in the column on the left even though you've previously deleted them.
    Very annoying. Bug? Anyone?

Then I would start by deleting the prefs. Editor preferences>general, click this button and restart the editor:

  • PSE 7 Printing to HP D7360 4 X 6

Ever since I loaded version 7 and try to print to my 4 X 6 tray it only prints about 60% of the image and then kicks it out and does not print the rest.  Also experience this on my HP 1020.  My PSE 5 had not such problem.  I thought maybe a registery or something like that was the issue but my hard drive crashed so I had to reconstruct on my HD and still the same issue. HP says I have all the latest drivers for these printers.  Would hate to load PSE 5 back in so I could print pictures edited in PSE7.
    Anyone with solutions?
    Max

Are you printing from organizer or editor? Did you try updating the drivers of printer?

  • PSE 7 Print Margin Problem

Operating system is Windows 7 64bit.  I am printing to a HP 1600 series inkjet and/or a Brother 2170 wireless printer.  When I attempt to print in landscape mode, the right hand margin changes from whatever was set to 2.5" and truncates whatever is being printed from PSE 7.  When I select page setup from PSE 7, the margin settings are greyed out and can't be changed.  Assistance would be appreciated.  Thx, TL

    Dear Biker,
Thanks for your email.  Since receiving it this morning, I have received the following advice from HP Support and although I appreciate it's not your exact problem, maybe some of it will help.
I note that they suggest adding a Generic Drive for a Deskjet 990c model (even though mine's a Photosmart C46800) but later they mention my model so I suppose you need the 990c drive to make it all work.
One of the other replies I got from the forum was one which said, 'never buy an H.P'.   In fact, I'm so worried that H.P's advice will either cock-up my computer completely or change the way it prints 'Word' documents (currently O.K.) that maybe I'll buy a decent one..  Anyway, here's what H.P advised:
STEP 1  Add Generic Driver 990c
    1. Click 'Start
    2  Click Printers and Faxes'
3  In Printer folder, click 'Add a printer' icon
    4  Click Next
5  Select 'Local' and remove the check mark from 'Automaticallhy detect and install my Plug and Play printer
    6  Click 'Next'
    7  Click 'Next'
8 Select HP from Manufacturer list
9 Select the printer modeol as HP DeskJet 990c from the printer list, and then click Next
    10. Select Yes to make this printer the default printer and Click Next to continue
    11. Select No to skip the test page and then click Next
12 Click finish to complete the installation.
    STEP 2 Configure the port
1  Click Start, then Printers and Faxes
    2.  Right click on HP Photosmart C4680 All in one printer icon and then selct Properties
3  Select the Ports tab and then check which port is selected from the list of ports.  Make a note of the port that is selected
    4  Close Window
5  Right click on the HP Deskject 990c printed icon you have installed, then select the ports tab.  Select the same port that was selected for the HP Photosmart C4680 printer icon
6  Cick Apply and the OK
