PSE 10 refuses to uninstall.

I purchased PSE 13.  I attempted an 'overwrite' installation of PSE 13 over PSE 10...but that failed.  Then I attempted to uninstall PSE10 via Windows 7 'add & remove' programs.  That failed too.  Finally, I tried to uninstall PSE 10 using Revo Uninstaller Pro.  That failed.  Now I have a crippled copy of PSE 10 that won't uninstall and won't allow me to install PSE 13.
THE ADOBE LIVE CHAT SUPPORT FOR PSE COULD NOT PROVIDE ANY EFFECTIVE ANSWERS.
Can anybody there offer some guidance?  PLEASE!

Hi,
What do you mean by "overwrite"?
It is recomended to allow each version to create its own folder structure for the program files. Most people keep the older version until they are happy with the new version and then uninstall the old version.
Since your version 10 appears to have got messed up, the only option I can see is a manual uninstall as per these instructions.
Manually remove Photoshop Elements 10 | Windows
When you are installing version 13, I suggest you leave the location as the default unless you want to change the drive letter.
If that fails, please let us know if there is any error message.

  • Apple Mobile Device Support refusing to uninstall

Updating iTunes and I got an error message telling me I had to uninstall and reinstall iTunes. Uninstalled iTunes and Apple Software Update but Apple Mobile Device refuses to uninstall (gets to 1 second then rolls back). Any idea what I can do?

    Hey oakman15!
Try using the information in the following article in order to restart your Apple Mobile Device Service to see if that will help you uninstall the program:

  • An application refuses to uninstall

I want to uninstall an internet modem application. It refuses to uninstall. I dragged it to the Trash, it returns back to the Launchpad. What do I do to uninstall it?

Did you install it from the App Store or from somewhere else? In Launchpad, you can hold down your cursor on App Store icons and they will present an X in the top corner which you can click to uninstall the app. If you downloaded it from elsewhere, do not use Launchpad - go to your Applications folder and trash it from there. Make sure that the app is not running (check for a light under its dock icon, or look for a menubar icon), or you will not be able to uninstall it.

  • Theme Refuses to Uninstall Even With Nokia PC Suit...

I downloaded a theme from Nokia Suite a few months ago but I can't seem to be able to uninstall it, not even using Nokia PC Suite.
While on Nokia PC Suite, I go to the Application Installer, find the "stubborn theme" and click to erase it. However, despite the bar below shows it's erasing, after finishing, the theme continues there as well as the same amount of available memory. :/
    Any ideas?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

My appolagies forgot to write down the phone model, it's a Nokia N97.
The "Applications Manager"within the phone shuts down on my face after few seconds and returns to the previous page, the usual lack of memory problem on the N97. I also tried to install the same theme as you suggested already 2 times, but to no available, the theme still refuses to "go away."

  • Upgraded to PSE 8-Can I uninstall PSE 5?

I bought an Upgrade version of PSE 8, and rather than upgrade my original PSE 5 to PSE 8, it has installed PSE 8 in parallel to ver 5, which is OK, but can I uninstall PSE 5 without affecting my new PSE 8? Is there any reason why I wouldn't want to do this?
    Alan

If the original poster has converted his PSE5 catalog to V8, then this shouldn't be a problem. I would not recommend you trying to keep your catalog in two different versions of PSE, that is always a recipe for confusion plus duplicate work.

  • Acrobat Pro refuses to uninstall!

I've had to uninstall CS3 on my Mac Pro (Leopard 10.5.2) because of a licensing glitch. After using the Adobe uninstaller, I used Adobe's CS3Clean script to supposedly erase all traces of the former installation. However, when I try to install the suite again, it tells me it will install everything except Acrobat 8 Professional because it is "already installed." It lists the file size as 894.6MB. It is grayed out in the selection list of apps, and I can't see any way to override it.
It's not listed anywhere in my application folder, and when I do a spotlight search on "acrobat", apps only, nothing shows up. Then I realized I don't know the name of the installed Acrobat Pro app, and it might not include the entire word "acrobat" in the filename.
I'm starting to think there must be a residual log or initialization file that keeps telling the installer Acrobat's still installed when indeed it's not.
    Help?

Try also deleting the following support files/folders:
    ~/Library/Preferences/Acrobat
    ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Acrobat
(where ~ is your user directory)
    Hope that helps.

  • PSE 8 refused to handle 16 bit color

When I tryed to Import some foto I took last in to PSE 8 and photo-Panorama section
I got the following message Photoshop Elements with a triangle and yellow[ ! ] This action cannot be performed on a file with 16 bit color depth
Do you want to convert to 8 bits/channel
The other problem it did not load all the fotos that I had check to be loaded
Any ideas as to why this happened
Camera was Pentax K10D which should not be the problem?

In lightroom under File>Export, you should be able to export your files as 8 bit.
Also you might have a look at this plugin for lightroom, which lets lightroom
use photoshop elements much as it uses photoshop.
    http://thephotogeek.com/lightroom/elemental/
I tried several times in the past to use 16 bit files with photomerge and while it
worked sometimes, other times i had the same problem your having. So i decided
just to convert my files to 8 bit and avoid all that. (photomerge does this anyway)
I suspect that's the reason you had trouble opening the rest of your files after
    the first one in photomerge.

  • Old QT refuses to uninstall...causing iTunes to not install and work.

    How can I uninstall QT?
I've gone to the Add/Remove Programs and tried to uninstall it, but a window pops up titled InstallShield Wizard and says: Quicktime setup is preparing the InstallShield Wizard, which will guide you through the Program Setup Process. Please wait.
Can anyone who knows what I'm talking about help?
      Windows XP

    Okay. First: you are amazing!
& thank you so much for helping me.
Second: I changed the Folder Options, and I did another search, and instead of just searching drives C and D, I searched the whole computer, and came up with a lot more (42) files. Although almost half was Apple/QuickTime history from the web, the others were actual QT files, and most of them deleted right away. The leftovers are 2 notepad files that can be deleted, but I don't know if they'd have anything important in them, so I just left them. As for the other 2, one is a File Folder that is holding that QTtask. The other is an MPP file (not sure what that is), and when it's right-clicked, deleting isn't even an option.

Hi there. I have the same problem and I'm wondering how you solved it? (hopefully you did). When opening organizer it starts searching for a missing file and if I press browse or cancel it gives me the same error C000005. I tried hitting the ctrl key and it recovered the catalog but didn't solve the problem. I still can't open the program. Any advice would be appreciated.

  • I´m intending to uninstall PSE 10 on my Vista-computer..

I´m intending to uninstall PSE 10 on my Vista-computer....
Then I´m intending to install PSE 12 instead! The uninstallprogram wan´t me to uninstall my serialnumber on PSE 10 BEFORE I uninstall the program...    Can I uninstall the both thing at the same time or do I have to uninstall the serialnumber BEFORE uninstalling the program?

There is no need to deactivate PSE10 if you are installing PSE12.
In fact there are good reasons to keep both.
They will have separate serial numbers and will work independently.

  • IPod only recognized as digital camera / Apple Software Update unable to be uninstalled

This may sound like a common problem, but I've done a LOT of work trying to fix it based on online searches. With no avail, I think this problem can't be easily fixed.
As the question states, the initial problem is that my iPod Touch (1st gen I think, maybe 2nd gen, iOS 3.1.3) wasn't recognized by iTunes as an iPod, but only as a digital camera (Windows 7, 64-bit). At first I was content because I didn't have extra songs I wanted to add. But then when I cleared the RAM one day, the iPod restarted with the USB/Connect to iTunes screen. Finally, I had no choice but to try to fix the iTunes problem. So, as most people suggest first, I tried to update iTunes.
Unfortunately iTunes was unable to update. There was a rolling back error, that I traced to Apple Mobile Device Software by using the Command Prompt and logging the install log. Apparently, iTunes didn't have sufficient permission by Windows to delete the necessary files. I even uninstalled iTunes to try to reinstall it, but it didn't reinstall, leaving me with no iTunes at all.
Then I extracted AMDS installer from the iTunes installation package and logged that installation process to find errors. According to an online source, the driver was blank, so I first tried using pnputil.exe in cmd to remove the Apple driver package. This failed, so I manually went into C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository to find the driver to delete it so it could reinstall. Unfortunately, it still wouldn't install.
In addition, I changed the ownership of ProgramData, Program Files, and Program Files (x86) in the C:\ disk to Administrator instead of SYSTEM and gave full permission to myself (the administrator) and "TrustedInstaller." A risky move, I know, but I was desperate. I had hoped that this would give permission to iTunes to modify what it needed to modify, but this still didn't work.
Thus, I tried to remove all traces of Apple software that related to iTunes manually. This involved the Apple files in ProgramData, Program Files\Common Files, and Program Files (x86)\Common Files. Then I tried to uninstall the list of programs related to iTunes (Bonjour, QuickTime, etc). However, Apple Software Update refused to uninstall and gave an error "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program reuired for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor." I fear in my deletion of files, I might have deleted something necessary for this uninstall.
I downloaded multiple forced uninstallers, but none of them worked - the same message showed up constantly. I went into the registry key to see if I could manually uninstall Apple Software Update, but this didn't seem to work either. I was too afraid to delete anymore files...
So here I am again, having walked in a complete circle in this extremely complicated situation. The files I deleted in my first attempt at a solution ended up hindering a possible actual solution. Any ideas to uninstall Apple Software Update, or to solve iTunes rolling back error, or to remove the connect to iTunes screen from my iPod would be greatly greatly greatly appreciated. I can live without iTunes, but my iPod is very important to me. If anyone has a solution to remove the screen without connected to iTunes, or connecting to a different computer's iTunes, I would be willing to take that course of action too.
    Thanks!

  • Installing pse 7 serial number not valid

I was having issues with a pse 7. I uninstalled then downloaded a fresh copy from Adobe. I entered my serial number and it returned 'not a valid serial number'. But it is valid.

Thanks pwillener. I did that before. It took me to my account and there I found the serial number that exactly matches the one I found on my computer but again, PSE 7 says it is not valid. I even turned my firewall off during installation in case that was the problem.

  • How do I UNINSTALL my CS4(Vista) from my WIN 8 NEW PC? It wont INSTALL, and NOW wants me to PAY TO UPGRADE to UNINSTALL.

I purchased CS4 back when. And I never had any problems running it on my laptop (Vista). I finally used up all my 250gb hard drive and my husband just bought me a new WIN 8 desktop. I tried INSTALLING using my CD but WIN 8 wouldnt allow me to install. Adobe said I had to PAY TO UPGRADE so that I could finish INSTALLING. Well NOW since I am unable to do so, I tried going to the CONTROL PANEL and UNINSTALLING. But Adobe REFUSES to UNINSTALL since I do not have the UPGRADE version to allow to do so.
SO NOW.............I am unable to INSTALL my iCloud program or any other program because my WIN 8 is "currently installing Adobe" and refuses to allow me install another program or Uninstall Adobe.

  • Pse 13 wia driver

On my desktop I'm running win7 64bit and my scanner is CanoScan 8400f. It worked ok with pse 11, so I installe pse13 and the so the "fun" stared. When trying to import image it sayes "No WIA compatibele devices were detected etc". I have tried support from all three companis (Adobe, Canon and Microsoft) blame eash other. Have anyone an idea of where to find a WIA 64 bit driver for pse 13.

You can uninstall and reinstall the Canon driver http://www.usa.canon.com/nw3s/CanonUSA/DownloadContents/English/0900334902EN.htm
If Canon supplies scanner software you can use that to save as a .tif and open in PSE.
Finally Vuescan does have 64 bit Twain drivers. Go here VueScan Scanner Software for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux and give it a test drive.
