PSE 10 suddenly incompatibility in Windows 7

Yesterday I used PSE 10 in WIndows 7 home edition w/o any problems. It had been transferred from an XP machine and running with XP service pack 2 compatibility, and I have been running it almost daily w/o any problems for about 3 months.
This morning when I tried to open PSE 10 I got error message:
    " Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Program C:\ProgramFile (X86........    this file has requested
         the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way"
When I ran PSE troubleshooting, it returned "Incompatible Application Detected", telling me that PSE 10 was incompatible with my version of Windows. However, I have not made any changes to Windows.
I tried to change the compatibility (rt-click on PSE desktop icon/properties/compatibility), experimenting with Windows 7, XP service pack 2 and XP service pack 3, but they all return exactly the same error.
I don't have an install disk for PSE 10 (I downloaded it from the Photoshop web site). I'm afraid to uninstall it because I'm not sure how I would be able to reinstall it.
Any suggestions would be extremely welcome.

Sorry to hear of your problems Susan.
The editor saved prefs often get corrupted. You may need to rebuild the editor preferences to resolve any conflicts.Hold down the Ctrl+Shift+Alt keys and simultaneously click on the Edit button on the welcome screen. Release the three keys and look behind the welcome screen by closing it. Or hold down the keys whilst double clicking on PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe
You should see a pop up box with the words: Delete Adobe Photoshop Elements Settings File?
Click on Yes
Then wait whilst Elements rebuilds the preferences.

I would like to know whether organiser or editor crashes ?
If its organiser then there is something related to Catalog.
Try these steps :
1. Goto this location : C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Elements Organizer\Catalogs\ -- (program data is hidden folder by default , you will need to unhide it)
2. Under this location you will find all the catalogs that were created by you
3. Choose your default catalog.
4. In that select and delete all the folders except Breezedata and file with extension .pse8db
5. Relauch your organiser and then check if its stil crashing.

PSE 12 running slow in Windows 7?

I have just installed PSE 12 on a Windows 7 platform and it runs very slow and freezes when I try to selct files in organizer. Is there anyhting I can do in settings, etc.?

      I followed the instructions exactly as in the article.I don’t think there is much scope for error as i did not encounter similarly named files and the described path took me exactly to the file in Program Files. I am certain I have never encountered similar problems with my laptop before. Even if I made a mistake, it would have been so easy to make that I would not recommend anyone else to try that!

thanks for your reply on my question.
You are wright the index file is 308 KB.
And offcourse that I delete my files and documents is not an Iweb problem, but because my English is not that good, that I thougt I try to tell the whole story, and hope people can read trough the lines.
Why I didn't use Iweb to upload to the server is because the server company recommanded to use file zilla. And I am a nobody with this kind of things, so I did exactly what they tell me to do.
No, i did not make a backup of Iweb and the domain file, but reading other messages on this forum showed me that I can maybe try to make empty the cashfile (?)
and otherwise I have bad luck and have to make my website again. Offcourse I have a lot of examples from all the pages (copied from the local map to my USB stick) and my website is aprox. 15 Mb, (not so big) so it will cost me a few nigths.
But I'm still hoping on a miracle :-)

Does PSE 12 support 64 bit Windows 8. Note promo material trumpets support of 64 bit Mac but appears silent on Windows.

The error 1935 usually means there is a conflict with something else that is running - you could try this.
First off, restart your system.
Then try stopping the windows update service. Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services (or use the search charm). Right click on Windows Updates and select Stop.
Now disable any antivirus that you have running.
Try the installation again.
Turn back on the antivirus and start the windows update again.

Need PSE 5 or 6 for Windows

I am really hoping someone can help me here...I need a copy of PSE 5 or 6 for Windows.
I am currently running Photoshop Starter Album 3.2 and just bought Lightroom 2.0. To get my catalog from the former to the latter, I need PSE 5 or 6. Lightroom apparently doesn't support a conversion from PSE 7. ACK. Do you know of anywhere online that still has a copy of these older versions? I'm on hold with Adobe customer support right now, but I thought I'd throw out a plea to the forums too.

If you live in the US, you can get Photoshop Elements 6 with the purchase of a Wacom tablet on all but the least expensive Bamboo model.

but you'll need to use compatibility mode.

PS Elements 10 suddenly incompatible with Windows 7. Cannot open. Windows 7 not even an option on the incompatibility trouble shooter.

Adobe tech people. How do i get the PS version I have been happily using to open again Suddenly it will not open and W7 is not even listed as an OS when I run the compatability trouble shooter. Is this Adobe's way of making me another version? VERY ANGRY.

I had the same problem with my Satellite A505-S6005. I keep everything on external drives/remote backup and ISO my installations because of problems with the CD/DVD on my previous laptop, so I thought turning this off would be handy. Unfortunately, it also turned off virtual drives. Unlike you, I had an error code 52.
The upper/lower filters is what finally worked for me, but I had uninstalled the Eco Utility just prior to that, thinking that is where the power setting was initiated. I'd had an icon in my tray indicating that ODD power was off but with no option to turn it back on. Removing Eco removed that icon, but still no drive until I did the regedit. Do you have this utility? From what I've seen, the Protege has Easy Guard, which seems similar to Eco. Maybe a conflict exists with that?

PSE 11 suddenly stops working

Hi there, I have never had issues with PSE 11 at all, nor PSE 9 prior to that. Suddenly, I am experiencing "fault bucket" errors and the "photoshop elements 11 has stopped working" error. It always occurs when I am accessing a plug-in; either a Topaz, Nik or onOne plug-in. It never just occurs when I am working in PSE.
I have made no changes to my computer or software at all so am at a loss to figure this out. None of those plug-ins I have mentioned are new nor have them been updated/upgraded lately.
Any help or advice is much appreciated.
(Windows 7, 64 bit)

Added to aboev comment. Even in when in the Metric (cm) Photo Project Units setting, if you select the Horizontal orientation under Create\Photo Collage the whole application will crash. Tried this several times (even after resetting preferences per ~bridge_mastero~ above.
BTW, Thank you ~bridge_mastero~, at least your suggestion allowed this application to partially work. Adobe needs to get this bug fixed!

Had PSE 8 installed on PC Windows 7 with a catalog backup on an external drive. Now have a Mac with OS Mavericks. If I install PSE 12 or Lightroom on this Mac can I use the cat. backup from Windows or must I start from scratch

If you made a full catalog backup using the organizer's backup command, and you did it to a removable drive, yes, you can restore it to the mac. A backup made on discs will not work, though.

PSE 11 not running in Windows 8?

I installed PSE11 on Windows 8 machine and it ran fine once. Now it launches and I see it starting then dissapears. I think it is running in backround as i see it in task manager. I ran the compatability trouble shooter and used the recommended settings but problem persists. Also tried running as adminestrator and still same problem. The auto uploader runs fine as well but then I cant see organizer. I had the same issues with PSE10 but that ran fine on this same machine for a month. My problems started when i left PSE10 running and let the computer sleep, hybernate and eventually shut down. Ever since then PSE 10 and now PSE 11 wont run or runs in backround and I cant see them. I have unistalled and re-installed bioth to no avail. Do I need to do a PC recovery?

Try making a direct shortcut for the Organizer and Editor. You can then launch the programs directly from the desktop bypassing the welcome screen. This is generally better as the welcome screen leaves background processes running.
On Windows, Right click anywhere on the desktop and select New >> Shortcut
Then click the browse button and navigate to:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 11 Organizer\PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe"
Then click Next; then click Finish
To launch, try right-clicking on the new desktop icons and choose “Run As Administrator” which often improves stability.
Then make a direct shortcut for the Editor in a similar manner.
On Windows, Right click anywhere on the desktop and select New >> Shortcut
Then click the browse button and navigate to:
"C:\Program Files(x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 11\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe"
Then click Next; then click Finish
N.B. navigate to Program Files on 32 bit systems.

PSE 8 Editor freezes in Windows 7

I used to have vista and my PSE8 worked just fine. I switched to Windows 7 because there werent any compatibility issues... or so I thought. PSE 8 downloads just fine and organizer opens just fine. Editor wont open... freezes and runs my computer very slow. It shows up in the task manager under processes but i dont see the program to use it.
I need serious help, please! I've been on the phone with adobe tech support for 2 months now saying they will call back in 3 days and never do. I've done all the "solutions" on the website with no luck.
Any ideas on how to fix the issue? I've noticed a lot of others having the same problem and I wonder what they have done to fix it or if they havnt fixed it what do they do in the mean time? Is there another product I can buy? Can adobe give me a free copy of a product that does work?

PSE 7 and 64 bit Windows Vista

I'm looking into buying a new desktop with 64 bit windows vista installed. I currently use Photoshop Elements 7 witih 32 bit vista. Will I be able to use the PSE I have with 64 bit?

Yes, it will run in 32 bit mode on the 64 bit machine.

PSE 9 freezes on my Windows 7 64-bit PC

I just installed PSE 9 fresh from the box onto my new Window 7 64-bit PC, and in the organizer mode it freezes after a click or two. Windows tells me PSE isn't responding, click to wait or to close program, and the screen goes snowy. I uninstalled and re-insalled, same thing. Can anyone help me out? Also, I've not had any luck finding a link to chat technical support. I paid $150 for PSE and Premier Elements, and I expected there would be live support...

This is an update to my earlier post.
My computer is only a few weeks old. Windows 7 Home Premium. 1 TB HD and 8GB RAM.
I have a Nvidia GeForce GT 220 Video card with 1025 mb
I saw post complaining of similar problems with PS C5. A video cade driver update was the fix.
I downloaded the most recent driver from Nvidia's web site.
The problems have been significently reduced. The organizer still gets a little jerky at times but the lockup is gone. The Task Manager no longer tells me that PE 9 in not running. Possibly a better video card in in my future.

PSE 8 Suddenly won't open

I have PSE 8 running on my dell computer with windows 8. I have been using the program for about one month and two days ago I tried to add a dell printer (which I now hear is not a good idea) I have removed the printer from my computer and PSE still won't open. I have uninstalled the program and reinstalled it and still no luck.
I try to open to edit opening via the program and it says that it is launching but it never opens. If I try to open PSE via a picture (right click, open with Photoshop) it gives me an error message "Photoshop Elements Editor has stopped working"
Can someone help?

After doing a little more research I seemed to find the solution. I moved the Twain_32 Plug in from the folder to my desktop and voila! Opened!!!
