PSE 10 update

Since I installed Apple's Mountain Lion operating system PSE10 isn't responding. It loads but none of the tools work. Does anyone have any knowledge of what's going on?

It's very important for some reason to clear out the old preference files when updating to lion or mountain lion.
Go to your username>library>preferences and delete:
com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist
Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 Paths
Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 settings
This library is hidden in 10.8. To see it, option-click the go menu in the finder. While you're in there also delete any lockfiles with the same names and go to the saved application states folder and delete any for PSE.
Repair permissions and try again. If you still have trouble, uninstall, create a new admin user and install the program there.

  • PSE 10 update to ACR 7.3?

I purchased PSE 10 not long ago, and PSE 11 was released soon after.  I recently purchased a Canon G15 for when I don't wish to carry my DSLR and lenses.  PSE 10 won't upload G15 raw images.  I have tried DNG, but the download incorrectly tells me that there are no photo files in any folder I might select.  Will PSE be updated to support ACR 7.3, which I understand supports G15 raw files?

Yes, I downloaded the 7.3 version of DNG converter.  I tried again, and this time was able to convert some photos.  It's a pretty clunky and indirect solution.
It seems unfair that I purchased a current edition program in mid-August, bought a camera four months later, and the program won't support it directly and as designed.  My program went from current to an unsupported orphan in the (relative) snap of a shutter!  It would seem that Adobe should support a program, and it's customers, a bit longer.  This is at least the third version of PSE I've purchased over the years -- not happy anymore!

  • PSE 11 update ACR w/no internet

I want to update to ACR 7.4 on a machine with PSE 11 and no internet. Can this be done? If so, could somebody please supply directions.
    Thanks.

    Go to location, C:/Program Files(x86)/Common Files/Adobe/Plug-Ins/Elements 11/File Formats
You wll find the Camera raw plugin over there.
So download your plug-in somewhere else, and copy paste it in this folder.
<please do keep a backup of Camera Raw plugin present for future use>

  • PSE 9 Updates - How do I find out which ones I have and which ones I need to download?

I'm accustomed to being notified of updates automatically, which means I forget to check for the ones that don't send notifications (PSE 9). I looked through the list of updates, but don't know where to start because I don't know which ones have already been installed. They appear to be separate patches so I'm assuming (incorrectly perhaps) that downloading the most recent one won't include the previous patches. I'm not a technically savvy person so I don't like to jump into these things without some idea of where I am or should be going. I have a "Murphy's Law" problem - anything that can go wrong usually does in my experience.

If you download the most recent ones, it doesn't matter if you've missed any previous ones.

  • PSE 9 update problems

Ever since I bought Photoshop elements 9 some time ago, it has never had a successful update yet.
Is there a solution to these constant errors and why are Adobe still clearly still having continuous update errors given none of their products are cheap?
Why are Adobe a nightmare with updates failures? Its not even easy to resolve without having to scour for answers

  • PSE 9 update is not applicable; error loading

Hi I am struggling with this after several attempts.
    Have PSE9.
Apparently it was shipped with camera raw 6.1 but I can't see it.
Tried downloading 6.3 and followed the instructions eg: unzip, launch Patchinstaller.
But I get update not applicable window or erroe loading updates.
    What am I missing?
Hopefully something simple - like me!
    Be grateful for help thanks.
    ot

After a few more tries I decided to uninstall/reinstall and that has has sorted the problem.
Two updates were availble - pse9 and cam raw - both have now been successfully installed and are working.
    Strange things - computers.
    Thank you.

  • Problems loading updates for PSE/PRE 9 after re-installation

    Hi
After having upgraded  Windows 8.1 to 64 bit (earlier 32 bit) I re-installed both PSE 9 and PRE 9 and registered both of them
Next step was to download PSE/PRE updates (packages available for both products) but that ends with error messages
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 9.0.3 Update
There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later.
    Photoshop Camera Raw 6.5 Update
There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later.
    Premiere Elements 9.0.1 Updater
There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later.
I quit and came back later - several times - yesterday and today - but no chance to load the updates.
I really need the updates at least for Camera Raw 6.5 which refuses to open CR2 files from a Canon EOS 60D
My guess was that it could have to do with missing deactivation of my previous installation (meanwhile fixed, by booting into 32bit Windows 8.1 - still available on another partition, deactivating and removing both PRE and PSE).
So I was in contact with Adobe Support via chat in case my serials had to be unlocked but they just replied that I would have received another error message and that I shall contact the forum for older products like PSE9
But they also stated that the updates are available @Adobe, no known system problems.
I hope you have a better answer.
    Thank you for helping!

    PS:
System Config: i5 3.2 GHz, 12 GB RAM, Windows 8.1 x64 t (new installed), NVidia  GeForce GT520, latest driver
Main Adobe products in use: Lightroom 5.6 (x64), PSE 9 & PRE 9
Internet Connection: Fibre 100 Mbits up/down (this cannot be the reason )

It's an issue on adobes side.
The easiest thing to do is download and install the updates from here:
    photoshop elements 9
Adobe - Photoshop Elements : For Windows
    premiere elements 9
Adobe - Premiere Elements : For Windows

  • Update to PSE 13

A couple of days ago I received an update to my PSE 13 - I use it for digital scrapbooking. Ever since I applied the update, whenever I drag a paper onto my layered template, it goes to a different layer than the one that I have highlighted in the layers palette. What the heck is going on? This is super frustrating

Can you please try resetting preferences:
Hold down the (Alt + Ctrl + Shift) keys on Win ( Opt + Cmd + Shift on Mac) as you click on the icon to open Elements. When asked if you want to delete the settings file, say yes.
    Launch Editor.
If resetting preferences does not work ,I would need some more details to isolate the issue:
    1. What`s your platforms(Win/Mac)?
    2. Has your PSE successfully updated to 13.1(Check in Help>About Photoshop Elements)

  • PSE 8 compatibility with Adobe Bridge CS 5 Camera Raw

I have Photoshop Elements 8 installed with Camera Raw 5.5 on a Windows 7 64-bit platform.  I recently purchased Photoshop CS 5 which came with Camera Raw 6.2.  I think both products work well independently, with the exception noted at the end of this posting.  Where I'm encountering an issue is when I use Adobe Bridge to access an image file for processing which invokes Camera Raw 6.2. -- the changes made to the file show up in Adobe Bridge, but are not observable when the same file is viewed in the Photoshop Elements Organizer.  When I look at the file properties I can see that Camera Raw 6.2 updated the file and the updated date does appear in the file properties accessible through PS Elements Organizer.  However, the items listed in the Camera Raw metadata are different in the two products (PS vs PSE).  Since the sidecar .xmp files are a form of XML, I'm wondering if Camera Raw 6.2 is writing data in a structure that is not supported by Camera Raw 5.5?  I've tried to update PSE Camera Raw to version 6.2 following the instruction that appear on line, but it does not seem to install.  Durring installation there are no error messages, but after the "installation" PSE Camera Raw still shows version 5.5.  I noticed this first when editing a large number of "legacy" .jpg files, but I also have concern when editing Nikon .nef files.
It's a bit hard to tell, but when editing .nef files in Camera Raw 6.2 the changes may migrate to PSE once I tell PSE to update the thumbnail view.  But what I observed was a very distinct differece in file's visual appeared when viewed in Adobe Bride CS5 vs PSE 8 Organizer.  The PSE 8 images had greater color saturation.  This leaves me wondering what's going on.

On my Windows 7 64 bit system the original version of Camera Raw.8bi was found in:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\Elements8\File Formats\ and had a size of 11,781 Kb shown in Windows Explorer.  The file properties listed the size as (12,063,088 bytes).  The digital signature was signed Thursday, September 03, 2009 3:34:37 PM.  To the best of my knowledge this is the version that shipped on the PSE 8 disk which I installed in December 2009.
There is another copy  of Camera Raw.8bi found in:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS5\File Formats\ and had a size of 11,856 Kb shown in Windows Explorer.  The file properties list the size as (12,140,496 bytes).  The digital signature was signed Friday, August 20, 2010 3:30:03 AM.  This date post dates the installation of Photoshop CS 5 on my system so it must have happened through some (automatic?) update.
The Camera Raw.8bi file that I've down loaded from Adobe for ACR 6.2 is the same size and has the same signing date as the one identified immediately above in the CS5\File Formats\ sub folder.
When I copy the down loaded file into the Elements8\File Formats\ sub folder PSE still indicates that ACR is version 5.5
I also have a copy of ACR in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS5\File Formats\ with a length of 14,526 KB shown in Windows Explorer.  The file properties list the size as (14,874,576 bytes) and the signing date as Friday, August 20, 2010 10:39:07 AM.  I presume this to be the copy of ACR used by Adobe Bridge and Photoshop which I installed as a 64-bit application.  Since the signing date (but not the time) is the same as the date for the file in CS5\File Formats\ I'm guessing that it is also the result of an automatic update to version 6.2.
Something that's not making sense to me is that the down load was approximately 50 MB and I'm messing around manually moving a 12 MB file into a specific sub folder.

  • Saving edited photos in PSE 12 from Lr 5

I have edited several photos in PSE 12 from Lr5
After selecting the item to edit with the magnetic lasso tool on the background layer and saving it in selections I created  a new layer and reloaded the selection so far so good
After editing and then going to save the photo does not show in Lr, it is in the pictures folder but only the selection is visible and the background or unedited portion is white
I went into Lr and picked the appropriate folder and after right clicking selected  syncronise folder the picture then is displayed in Lr.
Do I need to select or deselect  or combine the layers before saving or am I missing some other commands out.
Please try to keep instructions simple new to these programs so all unfamiliar ar present.

You probabloy used Save As. So you created a new file which Lightroom knows nothing about.
You need to start the round trip from LR as follows and use the save command (Ctrl+S) not save as:
    1) Ctrl+E in the Library to export selected image with develop settings (I choose PSD)
    2) Edit in PSE; then Ctrl+S to replace (overwrite) Lightroom export copy
    3) Ctrl+W to close in PSE and update Lightroom thumbnail.
    On Mac OSX Cmd+E; Cmd+S; Cmd+W
Also make sure all your layers are visibe (eye symbol not turned off) before using Ctrl+S

  • Organizer plays all my videos, PSE 9 won't play or edit any.

I have an Asus laptop with Corei5 processor, 4gb ram, 500gb HDD @ 7200rpm with plenty of contiguous space.  I believe my playback/editing problem lies in my video card.  I have an Geforce GT 32M 1GB with Nvidia Optimus technology.  This lets my laptop switch between integrated graphics on the i5 processor, and my discrete Geforce card.  It appears as if PSE 9 detects and activates my Geforce while loading up (specifically the PlayerMediaCore.prm triggers it) but then turns it off.  Once in the editor all videos will play their audio only.  I have tried to force only integrated graphics mode and discrete graphics mode.  Either way, it will not work.
I have tried quite a few formats of videos, and have the most recent Nvidia, Intel graphics, quicktime, directx, and PSE 9 updates.  PSE 7 worked fine with the same files.
    Help!

Both the player in Organizer, and also the Source Monitor, are simple players. The ability to edit the Clips depends on several other aspects, like CODEC and Project Preset - hence Steve G's question.
Good luck, and please let us know more,
    Hunt
