PSE 10 - Windows 8.1 - Panorama Crash

I am using Photoshop Elements 10.0 (20110914.m.17521) and Windows 8.1.  I also have Lightroom 5.3 installed.  Trying to create a Photomerge Panorama causes the program to crash immediately with the message "Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 has stopped working.  A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
I have tried to reinstall Photoshop Elements, and also recreate the preferences.  The error is still there.  Interesting clicking help -> System info... throw the same error.

Why is Adobe continuing to ignore the many forum threads inquiring about this same problem?  IMO, this issue continuing year-after-year represents irresponsible decision-making on the part of their Change Control Board / maintenance management, for such a fundamental operation as photo-stitching.
In particular, when the same two images can be merged successfully using any of a number of separate photo-stitch apps from other vendors, yet crashes Adobe Photoshop, then ipso facto, where do YOU think the blame lies?
In my opinion as a software programmer, an attempt to perform such a basic operation as merging two images, regardless of their size, should NOT cause a frickin' crash.  Programmatically, this speaks to (a) poor memory management, and (b) terrible error-detection/handling/reporting.
By several accounts in those forum threads, this problem continues with the latest OS updates, the latest driver updates, the latest Adobe Photoshop updates/versions, more-than-adequate RAM, more-than-adequate disk space, etc., etc., etc.  ...       Crashing Adobe Photoshop is an unacceptable outcome for such a fundamental operation, even if one is working with photos that are truly of larger-than-normal size.  It's COMPLETELY inexcusable when the images in question are of standard sizes produced by current-day camera technology.  The workaround of resizing the original photos is an unacceptable option for someone who is attempting to maximize a print size without resolution loss.

I just downloaded the latest version of iTunes for Windows and now iTunes crashes everytime I launch it.  I have tried re-downloading and selecting Repair with no luck.  Any suggestions?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If you've already tried a complete uninstall and reinstall try opening iTunes in safe mode (hold down CTRL+SHIFT as you start iTunes) then going to Edit > Preferences > Store and turning off Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases. You may find iTunes will now start normally.

I recently had to get a new windows computer, old one crashed. My tech guy got all my itunes library over to the new one, and all my songs are there. However, some won't play and ask me for the password for the apple id they were purchased under. 2 of these ids are obsolete and I have no access to those accts. The songs all played on my old computer without prompting me for a password.
Any ideas how I can get around this hassle and get them all to play? We're talking about 800 songs that are being obstinate. The new computer is authorized under my "new" Apple id, which I have used for years.

Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - enabled with iTunes 10.3 and newer; not available in all countries; apps, books (not audiobooks), music, t.v. shows, and movies (some - not all studios have permitted this). Movies currently available in the USA only. Downloading previously purchased movies and TV shows requires iTunes 10.6 or later.  Discontinued items not available. For items not included in the iCloud list, or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid.  Apple notes it is your responsibility to back up your purchases.
Select the store on the left side of iTunes.
Click on Purchased on the right side under Quick Links.
You can re-download your available previous purchases.

  • How do I retrieve emails from windows mail after a crash?

I've just had to reload vista & all my old files are stored in a folder called 'windows.old' inlcuding a windows mail folder. I'm trying to retrieve all the emails that were in windows mail before everything crashed on me, does anybody know how to do this?

I agree with Akuma. It is definitely not Toshiba related issue and you should try to check some Microsoft forum and try to find final answer.

    Hello Albert3232,
It sounds like you cannot use either camera, nor the LED as a camera. I want to recommend a couple of things here.
First, close all the open and running apps on the phone:
iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that restart the phone:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
If the issue persists, I would next backup your device to iTunes, and restore it:
iOS: How to back up and restore your content
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the best,

  • I wish to review my response to the "Apple may periodically collect..." window when an Application crashed?

I got one of those "Apple may periodically collect..." windows when an Application crashed on me, and I selected to report the crash.
I've not seen this window before and I hit return before I had a chance to read it.  Now I realize that I had the checkbox checked that means I'll never see the window again.  Is there anyway to go back and look at that again?
    Thanks,
    Keith

If you chose to automatically send diagnostic information, you can reset the option from the preferences of the Console application, in which case it will ask again the next time.  Clicking the help icon (the question mark) in the preferences window will bring up more information.

  • Windows 8 64 bit crash when i try to go to any "explore.exe", to acess hard drives C: or D: or icons in my desktop that go to C: or D:

It crashes on explore.exe so any windows explore aplication it crashes, even in facebook when i want to upload a picture from hard drive. the rest everything is fine, internet works fine, skype, office! the main problem is when i click on my cumputer icon,
it crashes, or when i upload a USB drive to open and crash,or any type of trying the acess to my C: or D:! what can i do?

    1. As you get the message when accessing Folders that contain pictures/videos, it can sometimes be cured by going to Folder Options > View Tab and put a tick in ‘Always show icons, never thumbnails‘.
    2. It is sometimes caused by a third-party extension. ShellExView can be useful to see which shell extensions have been introduced into Explorer. Read about it then scroll down near to the bottom to download the x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version here
    http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html
When you run it, click or tap on the column labelled Company to alphabetically sequence the entries. You have to assume that the Microsoft entries are bona fide, so concentrate on the third-party entries. Is there anything listed that is either unnecessary
or unknown? If so, highlight it and click or tap the red spot (top left) to disable it. There shouldn’t be too many of them but you may find it easier to disable them all, then re-enable them (green spot) one at a time and try File Explorer until the culprit
    is found.
    3. If the issue persists, read about and then download, unzip and run Process Monitor version 3.1 (it doesn’t need installing), from here
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx

  • PSE 6 on Mac Book Pro Crashes when opening a picture

Whenever I try to open a picture PSE crashes. This is similar to another post but I should not be having RAM or generation issues. I have removed and downloaded from different DMGs all to no avail. Please advise.
    Thanks

Thanks for the comment but I wasn't asking about viruses.  The thread I asked on solved the other user's issue because of the Norton incompatibility. I was referring to the original question which had nothing to do with viruses.  I open elements and try to open a picture from iphoto to work on and elements quits.  Since I don't have Norton or any other anti virus program, I was hoping there was another explanation which would apply to my situation.  Any ideas?

There's really no need for Norton on the Mac - because there is no such thing as a Mac virus.  I realize that this could change tomorrow, but as of today, there is no such thing as a Mac virus.  There hasn't been for about a decade.
You can remove Norton.  I removed it from my Macs about a decade ago.
To prevent any future viruses from getting in, set up a new sub-user account on your Mac, and start using it.  Don't run your Mac as the Administrator.
When you run as a lowly user, your Mac keeps an eye over what you do, and demands the Administrator's name and password whenever you do something suspicious.  That won't be a problem 99.9% of the time.  It's only a problem when you try to install an application or a utility.
Keep that limitation in mind, and use it to your advantage.  A virus is an application that pretends to be something else.  It lures you into installing that virus onto your computer.  Let's say in the future you download what you think is a photo.  It's really a virus.  You double-click on it to launch Photoshop Elements.  Instead, you launch the virus, which starts to install itself on your Mac.
At that point, everything comes to a screeching halt when the Mac operating system stops the installation, and puts a message on the screen.  That message will say something like, "Please type the Administrator's name and password to INSTALL THIS APPLICATION into the Applications Folder."  That is your tipoff that you aren't dealing with a photo.  You are dealing with an application.
At this point, you should ask yourself, "Why is a photo trying to install anything?"  Whenever the Mac operating system asks for the Administrator's name and password, you should ask yourself if you know exactly what is being installed.
If you were running your Mac as the Administrator, then you wouldn't get this warning messages.  The Mac would say, "Well, I guess he knows what he's doing, so I'll install this application."  And the still-to-be-written virus would be installed on your Mac.  It's a lot easier to keep viruses off your computer than to try to remove them once they get in.
This is why you don't need anti-virus software on the Mac - if you have an intelligent user operating the computer as a sub-user.

  • Export to windows media encoder-PPro crashes

Every time I try to export to Adobe Media encoder: windows media: PPro crashes.
I am working on a 64k computer using the 32k version of PPro CS3.
Every other format in the media encoder works fine.
Does anyone have any solutions or know why this happens?
    Thanks,
    J.

    J.Charette, "Export to windows media encoder-PPro crashes" #, 15 Jan 2009 12:24 pm
This thread is getting a bit old now but I'm now having the exact same problem as J.Charette. I think I may have some light to shed on it as well. I was successfully running CS3 master collection and exporting to WMV files in PPro/AE for the past year under XP64. I was given a new computer (again XP64) and didn't have any problems until I installed Microsoft Windows Media Encoder 64 (I used to use the 32 bit version successfully and this time figured I'd just get the 64 bit one instead).
Now that I've installed WME I can't export as WMV from any AE/PPro CS3. As soon as AME comes up with the format selection screen, if I select WMV from the drop down box it immediately crashes. I've tried uninstalling WME, reinstalling it and even uninstalling WME & CS3 and reinstalling from scratch. Still doesn't work.
In my case at least, there is a definite correlation between installing WME64 and its interaction with Adobe Media Encoder... Anyone have any suggestions? It seems to me there must be some registry setting / config file for AME that is causing it to try to use WME64 for something which causes a crash (since 32 and 64 bit apps can't call each other).
    Ideas?
    Thanks,
    Christopher Grant

  • Migrating from PSE for Windows 6 to PSE for Mac 6 including metadata

Can't find anything in the knowledge base on this.
I am giving up on Windows. Its just too messy and ugly. One of the final changes will be migrating from MS Windows Vista and PSE 6 to a brand new Mac, using LEopard 10.5.2 and PSE for Mac 6.
I want to migrate my images from the Windows machine, as well as the metadata organizing information. Surely I am not the only one with this need. I know I can save the mages in a mutually readable file format, export, and have them on the Mac, but I have a great deal of metatdata and image organization in the Windows version of PSE 6.
Please tell me how to migrate the entirety of PSE for Windows to my new Mac.
    Thanks.....

Some related questions-- can Bridge CS3 search sub-folders? Could I filter for a Keyword at the top of a tree, and locate all files with that keyword in sub-folders?
While exporting files from PSA2 on a PC I am using Share / Email to attach my existing keywords. Can they be drag-and-drop added to a Hierarchy in the Keywords panel? (Either from the Filter panel where they are automatically listed and counted, or from the "Other" location in the Keywords panel where they appear italicized?)
I had deluded myself into believing that PSE6 for the Mac included Organizer. Would Lightroom be a logical option for organizing? Particularly if I want to catalog many images on CD without storing them on disk? Can it be purchased separately? What other options would you recommend?

  • PSE 7/Windows 7- How do I get PSE to stop crashing when I try to share photos?

I can organize, import and edit photos, but when I try to share them using Photomail, the system crashes. Is there a fix? I use PSE 7 and have Wind. 7.
    Catherine

I"m not sure exactly what to do because once I got mine sorted out I can't exactly replicate it to test it, but it's like somehow your ID gets messed up.
I tried to download an app, then Apple thought that I'd never bought anything from my device so went through the whole 'give your secret questions' thing and ended up having to call apple to get them to reset.
Long story short,  the inability to update has something to do with the App Store not recognizing your device, even though part of it does recognize your device (which is why you get the little badges)
You could try downloading a free app and see if you can verify your ID. Or you can poke around in here
    http://www.apple.com/support/appleid/
and see if you can manage your account  and see if that helps.

  • PSE 10 both Organizer and Editor crash on multi-core hardware; set affinity to single cpu mode fixes

As I have noted in thread http://forums.adobe.com/thread/941128 I have found that both the editor and the organizer for PSE 10 crash in a multi core environment, I am running WIndows 64 bit, latest updates (includes sp1), I had the same problems with Windows 7 32 bit.
Solution is to set the affinity to a single cpu.  From the task manager, select the 'processes' tab, find the exe (eg PhotoshopElementsOrganizer), right-click, select 'Set affinity...' and reduce the number of CPUs selected (checked) to exactly one.  (Under different versions of Windows the exact means for doing this varies, but the essential steps are the same).  It doesn't matter which cpu you select, but if you do both the Editor and the Organizer, put them on different CPUs.
Given that pretty well all hardware these days is multi-core, my assumption is that Adobe test in a virtualized environment and so do not discover this type of unreliabillity.  Adobe really do need to test their software more thoroughly as the exact same problem existed in PSE 6, so it is hardly new to them.

The solution is in the above.
Should Adobe read this, they should take note that a virtualized environment does not provide a decent fidelity emulation of multi-core CPU systems.  The ONLY way to test the reliability of an application is on REAL hardware.

  • Photomerge Panorama crashes in PS Elements 10

I've finally found some time to try some panoramas using Elements 10 and it crashes every time I select Photomerge Panorama. I'm using Windows 8.1 on a fast laptop with updated drives and D drive as the selected scratch drive. A bit of an internet search has revealed this to be a common problem without a posted fix. I would have figured a patch or a bug fix would have been released by now. I've tried finding a contact number to discuss this matter with Adobe but keep getting routed to this forum for assistance. I'm frustrated that I've been sold a program that very clearly doesn't deliver what it claims to. Am I expected to now purchase a new edition of Elements in the hope that the Pano feature will work or does someone have a better solution?

I have the same problem; like you, even with completely updated drivers.

The DMP file is inconclusive. You could run driver verifier to find the underlying issue but WPR is often easier.
In order to diagnose your problem you will need to download and install the below
Install the WPT (windows Performance Toolkit)
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30652
Help with installation (if needed) is here
When you have, open an elevated command prompt and type the following
WPRUI.exe (which is the windows performance recorder) and check off the boxes for the following:
First level triage, CPU usage, Disk IO.
If you problem is not CPU or HD then check off the relevant box/s as well (for example networking or registry)  Please configure your as per the below snip
    Click Start
It will reboot 3 t imes and record the data to a file and tell you its name and location.
Zip the file and upload to us on Onedrive (or any file sharing service) and give us a link to it in your next post.
These crashes were related to memory corruption (probably caused by a driver).
Please run these tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.
If you are overclocking (pushing the components beyond their design) you should revert to default at least until the crashing is solved. If you don't
know what it is you probably are not overclocking.
Since it is more likely to be a driver please run verifier first.
1-Driver verifier (for complete directions see our wiki here)
If verifier does not find the issue we can move on to this.
2-Memtest. (You can read more about running memtest here)
