Ran pse 11 on WIN 7. Upgraded to 8.1. Cannot get downloads to open on 8.1. What is the trick or secret code?

PSE 9 + Win 8.1

Hallo - bin neu hier und habe die folgende Frage:
Mit dem Öffnen der Panoramafunktion in PSE 9 stürzt PSE komplett ab.
Betriebssystem Win 8.1 und leider kann ich da auch nicht alternativ was machen (ausser zurück Win7)

You don't give us much to go on, like what operating system, when the editor fails, etc. More information would help,
but try quitting the editor, then restarting while holding down ctrl +alt+shift/command+option+shift. Keep the keys down till you see a window asking if you want to delete the settings file. You do.

Option to Upgrade Photoshop Elements Catalog not available (LR5, PSE 12, Win 8)

Hi there. I have trial versions of both Photoshop Elements 12 and Lightroom 5.2 (trial licenses are both still active (i.e. not expired)). I'm looking to import my PSE12 catalog into Lightroom before I plunk down the money to buy it.
I cannot, however, locate the "File->Upgrade Photoshop Elements Catalog" option in LR5.
I may have originally installed LR 5 before installing PSE 12. So I uninstalled LR5 and reinstalled it. Still no luck - the option isn't there.
Any other ways to force LR5 to look for the PSE 12 catalog? Will LR5 even recognize a PSE12 catalog?

Unfortunately, there is no doubt that the conversion of PSE12 catalogs has been omitted. It's not the first time : I also had to wait for LR4 to be able to convert PSE11 files. We may hope that Adobe will acknowledge the fact, and possibly solve the problem for future versions of PSE.
Of course, it's not a priority for Adobe: the ability to convert PSE catalogs is mainly a sales argument to make the jump from the PSE Organizer to LR easier. However, maintaining misleading update notes by Adobe is not a good point in favour of LR. PSE 11/Win 7: Can I create an image of the front of our house all in brick?

PSE 11 on Win 7.
We have about two feet of brick at the bottom of our garage.
We are thinking of getting the whole front bricked with that same brick.
Is there a way I can create an image of our house showing that change?
I was looking at Fill Layer. There is some Pattern things available there.
But perhaps there is a better way to approach this.

Perhaps the photos app is too basic. I can’t confirm as I have an Android tablet. If you buy a $5 app, iPhoto for iOS5 you also get lots off cool tools and can create journals which make instant web pages. You can share with friends and family simply by using the copy link button and mailing them the URL.
Adobe also has a great Photoshop Touch app which you can sync with tablets via the Adobe Creative Cloud. Unfortunately the new PSDX files with layers can only be worked on subsequently in CS5 and CS6 as there is presently no plug-in for Elements. But the tools make it a great stand alone app if you want to do editing on the iPad.
There’s also the Snapseed app from Nik Software and Adobes consumer app Photoshop Express - so it’s a fast changing environment (Apple will soon launch iOS6) with hardware limitations. Not to be rushed into.
There is a hack/workaround if you have the CCK. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit to get files directly on to your iPad if you want to avoid the hassle of using iTunes or the cloud.
You first plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your video/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., IMG_1234.jpg; 12345678.jpg; MVI_1234.mov; my-movie.mov).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import.
You will probably see a message like unsupported USB device but you can ignore it and import your photos.
Gotcha
The videos will show up in the photos section on the iPad but a great trick is to just play a movie from the connected flash drive rather than taking up space copying a large file to your iPad.

PSE 8 / Win 7 64 / Problems

I just installed PSE 8 in Win 7 64bit.
Installation went normally and PSE 8 is installed as a 32 bit app.
However, when I open photos in edit mode they are pixilated - Jagged edges. Like a JPEG that is blown up too much.
If I open RAW files in ACR 5.5, they are smooth and normal, unit I import them into PSE 8 edit screen.
Note - I have been with PSE since ver 4 and have not seen this before.
Also - I have CS4 and this is not a problem in CS4, both 64 bit and 32 bit.

That's true!
Every-other zoom click is smooth.
It must be a hit or miss issue because I don't remember PSE 7 doing this, and
I had it installed in Win 7.

Is there a Restore service from Album 2.0 (XP) to PSE 8 (Win 7)

Does anyone know of a service where I can send an external HD with my Adobe album 2.0 back up on it,and receive back the same HD with a working back up converted to Album 8.0 that I can restore into my Win 7 Adobe Photoshop Elements program, and find my picture files under pictures<adobe<(My file pictures) on the internal HD for future album building?

There has to be many many people in my shoes with this
problem.................and Adobe could care less, and offer no help

PSE 7 Win Vista x64: Scanner no longer works after reinstall

Hello,
I was using my Kodak i1220 scanner no problem in Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 on Windows Vista Ultimate x64 SP1 for several months (prior to that, I had been using PSE 6 with no issues).
Recently I did a clean install of Windows. I loaded Photoshop, then installed my scanner (in that order).
Now, when I try to scan, the scanner pulls through 2 pictures and then stops with an error stating that Photoshop was unable to obtain the file from the device.
Interestingly, the scanner works just fine with Photoshop CS4. However, I do not want to scan with that because it is an extra step to then have to save each image and then launch PSE to organize them. My mother is helping me with this project and I can't make her do that.
In terms of troubleshooting, I've uninstalled the scanner and PSE7, rebooted, installed the scanner, and then reinstalled PSE7, but the problem persists. I thought perhaps the order in which I installed the scanner and PSE might affect it, but perhaps that's not a factor.
Hopefully someone can provide some insight on this. We've scanned over 12,000 pictures into PSE in the past 6 months and I would hate for this roadblock to sabotage the project!

PSE 7 & Win 7 Cannot resize

Out of the clear blue sky, I now cannot resize any images in PSE 7. I have Win7. In the image Resize box, I can change a image to 50 percent and hit ok and nothing happens.

Can I use PSE 8 win serial no on mac

I purchased the combined pack of PSE 8 and PRE 8 on win7 after much humming and haring on if to get mac or pc as I use both (but in the end as PRE is not available for mac) I went PC.
I felt safe in choice as I have heard people say adobe lets you use either. It's just me using them and I only ever use either mac or Pc at a time not together.
Is this possible in any way?

Nope. The only way it works is if you had gotten PSE bundled with hardware like a tablet. Otherwise you need a separate license for the mac version.

PSE 8 - win. 7 prof 64 bit - high res. - book?

A couple of questions here... Just ordered Photshop Elements 8 after purchasing new computer with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. From what I read on MS, it will be compatible????
Will PSE 8 be able to utilize all of the features of
a) Windows 7 Prof 64-bit and
b) my computer's high resolution of 1920 x 1080???
I ask because I have issues with some older programs having fuzzy text, and want to make sure that photographs will show up with their best resolution and quality for accurate editing.
(I also ask if anyone recommends a good instructional manual/book for PSE that would teach various step-by-step directions for editing in PSE up to or thru version 8?)

PSE 8 should run fine on Windows 7 64-bit. Regarding 64-bit, see this FAQ:

PSE will use a 1920 x 1080 monitor just fine.

Bridge Preview quality is not sharp and is blurred compared to PSE win

I've been using a Mac for a couple of years but to date have been running PSE 4 on Windows but I migrated this to my Mac so have been running under VMWare Fusion. This has been working great and allowed me to get up to speed with Macs gradually.
Now that PSE 8 for Mac is out, I thought I'd give this a try and bite the bullet and swap over to running PSE on the Mac. So now I see that I need to use Adobe Bridge CS4 to manage my photos, keywords, collections etc, as see that there's no 'catalog' in the Bridge - no big deal.
Previously I use 'PSE 4 Win' to run a full screen slide show and sometimes connect my Mac to my plasma TV via PC VGA connector. I was always amazed at the quality of the photos on both Mac full screen and TV.
Now I getting to know Bridge slowly and love the PSE 8 for Mac, however the Full Screen Preview (or Slideshow) quality initially looks acceptable but on closer inspection and directly comparing the rendering in 'PSE4 Win' with 'Bridge MAC' the latter is more blurred on the edges and the colors look more natural in the PSE4 Win.
I have tried right clicking the photo and 'Purge cache for selection' and looked through Preferences and did try enabling software rendering, and re-started but no difference. So now I love the new software but can't ignore the poor quality rendering. PSE8 on the Mac the quality looks better than Brdige (although colors still not that natural), AFAIK know PSE8 Mac can't be used as a full screen slideshow (I can't even find a full screen option)
I running a MacBook Pro new Aluminium for Nov 2008. So just to restate both apps are Mac and Windows are running on same Macbook.
I have attached screen grabs from both (look at the edges of grass where it meets water) - these are at fit to screen resolution (which is what I'd use for a slideshow or full screen peview).
The photo is a JPEG 4.03 MB, 3840 x 2160 , res 72 ppi, application: Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0.

Thanks for the reply, setting 'monitor size previews' has helped a great deal with the sharpness (surprised this isn't the default!)
Colours are still a little different - difficult to tell which is most realistic.
I have attached a new full screen preview.
As an aside, in desparation I did try out some of photo viewing software on Mac platform in comparison. Adobe Lightroom 2, Aperture, and Picasa all render fairly simarily, however XNView renders very close to PSE4 on Windows platform - in terms of sharpness and colours. I quite like the Bridge interface so I think, I'll stick with Bridge.

PSE 9 and ACR

Hi, I am about to download the ACR version for PSE 9; however, there is no file camera raw.8bi in the appropriate file (... Plug-Ins/File Formats). Is there because the brand new out of the box PSE 9 doesn't come with that file??? Do I just go ahead and download the ACR ver. 6.2.0.29?
Also, when it is downloaded will I know which file is the 64 bit and which is the 32 bit?
Lastly, does anyone know how to disable the Adobe Photo Downloader from Organizer in PSE 9. My previous version 5 had an option to disable launching but I don't see that in PSE 9.

The ACR plug-in is stored in a "shared" location so that both Organizer and Editor can access it.

RAW processing with PSE 3 and Fuji S9600

I've been trying to find out how to open Fuji S9600 RAW (.RAF) files from PSE 3 (Win XP) without success! I cannot afford to upgrade to PSE 6. Is there any way I can do this as I understand the PSE RAW processor is very good?

Can't find workflow panels/actions folder in PSE 9

Hello.
I'm tring to install an action (APE-High-Impact.atn; MarkGaler.com) which is looking for a workflow panels/actions folder. I don't find any such. Am using PSE 9, Win 7.
Got any suggestions please and thanks in advance,

Ok those are the program files, not the program data.
Try pasting or typing this path into the search box at the bottom of the start menu and then hit the enter key.
C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\9.0\Locale\en_us\Workflow Panels
right click inside the search box and choose paste:
then this should appear and then press the Enter button on the keyboard:

PSE 9 organizer printing problem

pse 9 , win 7. When I try to print from oranizer it freezes and shuts down the organizer. This problem just stated, I havn't done anything new to my machine. i tied reloading pse 9, but to no avail. Can print from editor.

Does that happen with only one image or all images you try to print? What exactly are you trying to print -- contact sheets, or ...?
