PSE 11 Organizer constantly crashing

When I use Photoshop Elements 11, the Organizer crashes every time. Furthermore, the pictures I have just edited often do not appear in the Organizer. They show up as broken links, which I have to delete, then reload. I am running it on a PC with Windows Vista, if that makes a difference. Help!

Possibly a problem with the catalog and since you are seeing broken thumbnails, it might help rebuilding thumbnail cache. Please try-
1. catalog repair/optimize - launch Organizer keeping Shift key pressed. From the catalog manager dialog which opens up, select your cataog and do repair and then optimize. This should fix the issue. If not,
2. Please go to %programdata%\adobe\elements organizer\11.0\catalogs\your catalog folder and rename the file thumbs.5.cache to say thumbs.5.cache.old Relaunch Organizer and see if it works

Any ideas? Win 7. Have plenty of memory and horsepower in the laptop. Occurs even with other apps closed.

Constant pse 9 organizer crash on mac

Hello,
I am on a MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo and Organizer constantly crashes immediately upon opening.
A few days ago I had posted this problem with a trial version of pse 9 and meanwhile despite the problem purchased the software hoping it was only a bug of the trial version - but it is not. I had deinstalled the trial version including the prefs using Adobe's deinstaller program before reinstalling the purchased version. Today I also updated to OSX 10.6.5 but that does not make a difference either.
Pse 9 itself works fine, it's just the Organizer that refuses to perform.
As this problem occurs on my iMac i5 as well I find it hard to believe that I should be the only one with this experience. Anybody with a clue?

Unfortunately I was too fast with my last message and the problem is only solved on my MacBook Pro, not on my iMac.
Barbara, where exactly is this plist file you mentioned? I found and deleted ElementScenario.plist in the folder
Macintosh HD/library/application support/Adobe/Elements Organizer/9.0/
This also contained a file named UUID.plist which I also deleted and I then have to select the language when restarting.
One more detail: Organizer upon launching shows a message saying (in German, I'm translating): "Since last start new files have been downloaded and will now be included in the catalogue. Do you wish them to be displayed in the media browser?" You can only chose yes or nor and either way the following import scheme seems to cause the crash. How do I avoid this?

PSE 10 organizer crash

Recently I transferred my 18.000+ PSE 10 catalog to another hard drive. Everything went well but ....
After importing the first batch of new photo's the organizer suddenly crashed. This never happened before.
For the last 10 days I have been searching for a solution with no result. Among other options I have removed the Thumb.5.cache file, and removed the psa.prf and status.dat files. Concerning the first option, removing the Thumb.5.cache file, it seemed to work, but after rebuilding the cache file the organizer crashed again.
I am getting kind of desperate, is there anybody out there who has any idea's?

Should Adobe read this, they should take note that a virtualized environment does not provide a decent fidelity emulation of multi-core CPU systems. The ONLY way to test the reliability of an application is on REAL hardware.

OS- Mac Os 10.9.5
I recently purchased PSE13, It worked for some day and suddenly started crashing. I uninstalled, restarted mac and reinstalled PSE but the problem continued.
I followed steps given in this forum
-Go to your username>library>preferences and delete
- com.adobe.Elements Organizer.13.0.plist
- then go to Saved Application States (at the same level as preferences) and delete.
Deleted file
com.adobe.ElementsOrganizer13.savedState/
repaired the catalog but still PSE organizer is crashing.
Did anybody get the solution for this problem? Please help.

Why does PSE 11 organizer crash when I try to create a new album?

I recently purchased PSE 11 to replace PSE 10. When I entered the Organizer, everything worked well until I tried to create a new category under a category that had already been created. After several attempts (and crashes) I rebooted the computer and succeeded in creating the new category. When I then attempted repeatedly to create a new album within the new category, the Organizer again crashed several times. I suspect that rebooting the computer will fix the immediate problem, but this should not occur in the first place and is unacceptable as an ongoing problem.

There is apparently something wrong with the Elements Auto Analyzer. When I ended the auto-analyzer process in Windows Task Manager, I was able to add albums to an existing category without crashing the Organizer. I was also able to add albums in Safe Mode, so there may be a driver conflict or other conflict with one of my other programs.

PSE 9 Organizer Crash reinstall

PSE 9 Organizer has been cashing on launch for the past 5 days. It does it in any manner in which I launch, sometimes during initializing something or other, sometimes getting to the organizer page and that page disappearing and being replaced by a report form (one to Apple, the other to Adobe) Iam running it on an Apple Macbook.
In order to stop this frustration, I am thinking about uninstall / reinstall. My question: If I do this, will I lose all of my previous work in Elements?

Reinstalling almost never fixes crashing problems. First try holding down the command and shift keys while you launch the organizer to bring up the catalog manager and see if you can repair and optimize your catalog.

PSE 7 Organizer crash/stall/fail

I've been using PSE 7 Organizer in Windows XP without problems for quite awhile. Recently, the program locks up on the first image in the library. The hourglass shows and it says "generating thumbnails," yet nothing seems to happen. I generally have to hard exit the program (using the Task Manager). Please help.

Try the following:
1). Go to "C:\Documents and Settings\[Your Username]\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\7.0" and rename the 'Organizer' folder to 'Organizer_OLD'.
2). Now, go to the catalog location and move the 'thumb.5.cache' file to the desktop. The default location for your catalog can possibly be either of these:
C:\Documents and Settings\<Your Username>\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\Catalogs\<Catalog Name>
Or,
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\Catalogs\<Catalog Name>.

PSE 11 Organizer - depressingly junky software

After rebuilding all of my 90k pics into a new structure, PSE 11 organizer now comes up, I leave it alone, and it crashes. Over and over again. It covers up its tracks like a little boy stealing in a candy store. Why isn't someone fixing bugs in this thing? At LEAST when it crashes, it could put out an error message, then a bug report could be written and then maybe, just maybe it could be fixed.
I just rebuilt the entire catalog, placed all my photos into folders by years because PSE had become completely unusable. Now, again it is a basket case.
This is the single most troublesome piece of software I have had the misfortune to buy. Windows 7, 16GB RAM, two HD's with over 200GB free. I solicit your ideas or whatever you care to say about how you feel about PSE.

I bought Lightroom two years ago when I thought Organizer was less than I wanted. I still use Photshop and Premier Elements but have not looked at Organizer for a long time. From my point of view, Lightroom and Elements are made for people with my kind of budget and work wonderfully together.

Everytime I try the open the organizer in Photoshop element 12, it crashes and the progrma closes. I tried to re install the program, but it doesn't work. What can I do.

I have had PSE 12 Organizer crash three times in 7 days, and each time I had to re Tag all my files that had been completed to that point. The Backup was not a lot of help since I had backed up only the untagged original catalog. I find that SOMETIMES, I can start Photo Editor, then choose the Orgainzer at the bottom. It takes a lot of coaxing to get the organizer started even then. So far, I have spend 12 hours ReTagging and Restoring, and talking to Support that does not really have a clue as to this problem. I have already had 2 support techs work on it, and now am waiting for Second Level support to call back. Another day wasted. I find that even though Organizer crashes and closes, that the Analyzer module continues to run in the Task listing, as does Organizer module. It just runs and uses up resources. Make sure you check your task lists and force them to cease before you try to restart again.
How is it that Adobe provides NO FREE SUPPORT on a known BUG. Support earlier today told me to get answers to this problem at forums.adobe.com (here now) and I do not see any of the problems have been identified or fixed. While 12.1 worked for one, it does not work for me. Someone find out what is causing this and fix it.

PSE 11 Organizer quits working when I try to create a slide program.

How do I correct the problem of PSE 11 organizer not working when I try to create a slide program.

I've got the same problem. I have just bought a Windows 7 PC with an i7 processor and 8Gb RAM. This wasn't an issue with my previous PC running Windows XP and PSE 6 so I thought it was down to PSE 6 and Windows 7 being somehow incompatible. I therefore downloaded a trial of PSE 8 but this also crashes every time I try to create a slide show.
I have uninstalled Intervideo WinDVD as recommended by John's link and followed the other instructions as well but this bug doesn't seem to go away.
However a workaround for me is that I can open previous slide shows (created under Windows XP and PSE 6), edit them and save as a new project. The slide show function is still very very unstable however and I have to save after each single successful action. It seems to crash at random but mostly when I try to insert any music into a project. It can be very frustrating and time-consuming for something that should be a very simple task for a grown-up, expensive program.
Anybody got any other ideas? Of course I've reported this to Adobe but I'm not expecting a reply (I've never had one so far so why should they change?).

Pages constantly crashed, Pages constantly crashes

Hi,
I've been running Pages on my White Unibody Macbook for a year now and have not had any problem. However, yesterday I purchased an iMac (which has now been updated to Mac OS 10.6.8) and installed Pages on here.
Pages now constantly crashes, the styles draw no longer functions, the cursor disappears most of the time (and as a result I'm also unable to select text), and the full screen does not work either.
Could somebody please help? I have a piece of work in for tomorrow that I really need to finish.

One more question so incomplete that it's difficult to answer it accurately.
You wrote that you installed Pages.
Was is the one bought thru mac App Store or did you installed iWork?
If you installed iWork, I would not be surprised to read that you ran Pages just after the installation.
Pages delivered as part of iWork is an old version (4.0) which must be updated to 4.0.5 before running it under mac OS X 10.6.7 or 10.6.8.
You wrote that you purchased an iMac but we don't know if it's a new one or if it is a second hand one.
When I received my iMac mid 2011, it was delivered with 10.6.6 installed so, updating it to 10.6.7 may be done thru Software Update. At this time I don't know if the 10.6.8 updater applied thru Software Update does a correct job. Maybe applying the combo updater would be useful.
If your iMac is a second hand one, I wouldn't trust the installed operating system and would apply the combo updater because the update from 10.6 to 10.6.2 thru Software Update was an incomplete one.
It's one of the reasons why I'm a bit annoyed by what was announced during the late keynote : in the future, apps bought thru the store would be updated the incremental way as is the system thru Software Update. I hope that there will be a way to force the use of a combo updater.

Firefox Constantly Crashes

My Firefox (Aurora) Updated To The Most Recent version Constantly Keeps Crashing! I have Gone Through All Of The Forums And Tried All of The Suggestions Of Turning The Hardware Acceleration Off And Starting it In Safe Mode, Updating Graphics drivers, Clearing The Cache, And The Profiles, But It Constantly Crashes, Sometimes Straight Away Form When I Load It, And Most of The Time Flash Crashes Along With it, (I've Reinstalled And Checked That And It Seems To be Fine, But No Cigar) It Also Crashes On The Stable Firefox And The Firefox Beta.
