PSE 11 with Mavericks menus gray. Is there a solution?

Hi - We installed Mavericks. Since then, it takes a very long time to open PSE 11. Once open, when I try to open a file, as soon as I scroll to the open window, PSE 11 locks, goes back to the editor screen and all menus are gray. I have to Force Quit. There is also a separate Editor Icon showing up that I don't remember seeing prior to installing Mavericks. Please help.

We have created a document that should be able to help out with this issue.
It's related to the default display of the CoverFlow viewing mode with the OS dialogs.

If clicking the different modes isn't "quick enough", then you can use CMD1-3 to switch modes as long as the dialog is displayed, Once you get to any other display mode other than CoverFlow, the dialogs should stay open and function properly.

You should be able to open the zipped file by double clicking on it.

Content is forever tied to the Apple ID that bought it. Apple does not transfer content from one Apple ID to another. Apple does not merge Apple IDs. You will never be able to access your content bought with one Apple ID with a new Apple ID.

Address Book and Groups vanished with Mavericks download. Is there a way to get them back?

Downloading Mavericks caused my Address Book and all associated email Groups to vanish along with all Bookmarks. Does anyone know of a way to get them back? I wish I had backups of these items, but it seems to me that the wise and sophisticated designers of Mavericks could have provided for incorporating existing data.
My printer which had been functioning perfectly under Mountain Lion suddenly showed up as disconnected. By good luck a download of new drivers from HP allowed me to print again.
I am annoyed that Apple did not make Mavericks seamlessly integrate existing data durng the download.
Oh well, it is what it is, so I'd be grateful for any ideas (other than beating me up because I don't have backups - I've already smacked myself around about that!)

Yes the iCloud seems to be enabled but I don't find a backup for the missing items, or perhaps I don't know how to access it. I haven't been able to find a way to open the backup files.

I installed Windows 8 and now Photoshop Lightroom won't even boot up. I just get a message that there is a problem and shuts down the program.

Try starting it in compatibility mode.

ISync with Mavericks

I have a Nokia 5610 mobile phone and I recently purchased a MacBook Pro with OS Mavericks. The 2 devices do not communicate. The Nokia forum recommended me to use iSync... However I cant find a version of iSync on the App store but Sync Mate Plus and it does not work with OS Mavericks.
Is there an app or software out there that replace iSync on Mavericks or that makes the 2 devices communicate (OS Mavericks and Nokia 5610)?

PSE 12 does not start on iMac with Mavericks

I just bought PSE 12 and installed it on my new (1 week old) iMac (late 2013, 21,5", 2,9 GHz, FusionDrive) with Mavericks.
Installation worked fine and finished complete.
When I double-click the PSE12 icon, it show up in the dock for 2 seconds and then disappears.
What is the problem - how to get PSE 12 starting?
I am helpless ... if I can not start the application, I would return it to the Dealer.

After heated discussions with Adobe CS, they gave me a one-time free support case number to resolve this problem. I had to log into my Mac as "root" user (after setting up the root account via System Pref/Users & Groups), and initiate the install from there. Perhaps you can log in as root, and see if PSE 12 stays up from that account. Otherwise, you may want to check whether it stays running while you are off-line. (i.e., no internet connection) I don't know for sure, but the software might be trying to verify your software with Adobe.com, and failing there.

I am doing a lot of analyses with 10.9.2 on a late 2013 MBP, and these analyses generally last hours or days. I observed that Maverick is slowing them down considerably for some reasons after few hours of computations, making it impossible for me to work with this computer...

I just downloaded Maverick on my Macbook Pro from 2011. When I try to open iPhoto, it says that I have an old version that doesn't work with Maverick. None of the solutions stated on this forum work for me, because there are no options displayed.

I've been using "Burn" for years and it has been the only DVD burning software I have ever used for the mac. I have never needed to look at other apps. Unless you want something that has more bells and whistles such as Roxio's "Toast" : http://www.roxio.com/enu/products/toast/pro/overview.html
There are thousands of quality free apps out there for the mac that are not part of the App Store. All you have to do is read reviews online, do a little search, the Apple forums are full of recommendations from experienced users that have been here for years...

Just upgraded my 2009 iMac (3.06 Ghz, core 2 duo $GB 1067 Mhz DDR3) to Mavericks OSX 10.9.5 and my HP6100 printer no longer works, when I try to reload the software it says PowerPC apps no longer supported. Printer says the software was improperly installed. Is there a way to use my HP6100 Printer with Mavericks or do I need to go back to Mountain Lion or Snow Leopard?

It's not clear whether your printer is included in the Apple list - there is an Officejet 6100 and a couple of other types. Go to the page linked to above and use the browser search for 6100.
I'm afraid HP are notorious for not supporting older printers - I had the same problem. Probably they hope you will buy another printer (I did, but it was a Canon). I did look on HP's site and couldn't see a driver - you could give it a try (make sure you have the exactly correct printer name):

I found it would indeed drive the printer, but the colour dithering wasn't very satisfactory and the duplex printing bolt-on wouldn't work. However as Gutenprint is free it's worth trying to see if it's any good for you.

Get onto the integrated iOS + Mac OS and end support for "legacy" Mac 10.8 and earlier.
Force older hardware users like me to upgrade to new hardware which is where $$ are.
Make apps work across tablets, phone, and computer with similar (though not the "same" app, but able to read and use the same file format).
Simplify.
I don't think anyone incl. Microsoft knew Windows 8.1 was going to be a free upgrade, I didn't and read that it would be more like $30.
No OS is ready for everyone on the day it is launched. iOS 7 is now 7.04 and climbing, Mac OS tends to really not be ready until the last patch and version is out, often a year or more after it was first issued. Ship it, then plan to fix the bugs left in or that surface.
www.macperformanceguide.com is saying "No" to Maverick for now. Of course there will be no "No" on new Mac Pro 2013 6,1 when those ship (Late Jan? )
