PSE 12 and Nikon D7100

Hello all - please help!
Having used a Nikon D80 and PSE 6 for many years with no problems whatsoever I recently bit the bullet and upgraded to a D7100 and bought PSE 12 as I was aware that the RAW converter in version 6 would not support my new camera.
However, having downloaded a load of photos to my laptop (Fujitsu notebook with Windows 7 and 3GB RAM) I am having problems.
I can edit JPEG's no problem.
I can also open my NEF (RAW) files into Camera Raw 8.0 with no problem and I can adjust the files in RAW.
BUT, when I come to open the files into the PSE 12 editor I am getting the message "Photoshop Elements 12 Editor - Could not complete your request because of a program error".
I have uninstalled and reinstalled PSE 12 but the problem is still there.
Am I missing something?

First off update your v12.0 to v12.1 (and Camera RAW to 8.3) by going to Help> Updates and see if that fixes things.
Cheers,
Neale

  • Elements 9 and Nikon D7100 NEF (RAW) problem

    I'm running elements 9 and have upgraded to a Nikon D7100 when I try and open a NEF (RAW) file it gives me an error message saying file type not recognised. This used to work fine with my D90, does this mean elements 9 will not support a Nikon D7100

    Unfortunately your software pre-dates the camera. You may need to consider buying PSE13. But it is possible to download and install the free DNG converter to convert your raw files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the files will open in all versions of PSE (keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)
    Windows download (.exe file) click here DNG Converter 8.7.1
    Mac download (.dmg file) click here DNG Converter 8.7.1
    You can convert a whole folder of raw images in one click. See this quick video tutorial:

  • Elements 10 and Nikon D7100

    I just bought a Nikon D7100 and shoot raw. When I try to open a NEF file in Elements 10, I get an error message saying it's the wrong file type.
    Can I upgrade Elements 10 so that it will open the NEF files from the D7100? If not, will the newest version of Elements recognize and open these files?
    Appreciate any assistance you can provide.

    That last version of ACR listed on the downloads page for Elements 10 is 6.6.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=40&platform=Windows
    I don't know if it supports later versions.  Adobe doesn't exactly make it clear, these days.  My guess is not.  Anyone else?
    Have you tried Help > Updates?
    On the camera support page, it says you need ACR 7.4 for the D7100:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
    You can always use DNG Converter make DNG copies of your raw files, which will open in Elements 10.  It's a bit of a hassle, but it's free.

    Assuming you can't update, you'll need to upgrade to the latest Elements, which will support the D7100.

  • Camera Raw and Nikon D7100

    Hello, Camera Raw doesn't support new Nikon D7100, and there is no update available, so what are you doing with this problem ? T tried the beta 7.4 but it doesn't support either. Thank you to answer as soon as possible. Best regards. Alan.

    Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
    Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
    D700 first supported in Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) 5.1 (CS6 ships with ACR 7.0)
    D7100 first supported in ACR 7.4
    You probably just need to update Camera Raw in CS6 via Help > Updates.
    Confirm which ACR version you have installed via Help (Win) or Photoshop (Mac) > About Plug-In > Camera Raw.

  • RAW files and Nikon D7100

    I cant open RAW files from my Nikon D7100 in Photoshop Elements 9. Please inform me whether it will open in PE 11?

    Yes, your Nikon D7100 RAW files will open in PSE11
    Your RAW files can be used in PSE9 if you download and run the free Adobe DNG Converter.
    You can also use the software that came with your camera to convert your RAWs to TIF and then open them in PSE9

  • Camera connection kid iPad 1st gen and Nikon D7100

    Hi,
    I use a Nikon D7100 and I am not able to load any photos to my iPad (1st generation) either through the SD slod nor with the USB cable ?
    Thanks for any advice.
    Gieri Carigiet

    I really believe that it has something to do with the D7100. I have the iPad 3 and I'm having trouble loading pics onto my ipad at times. I have used both connectors. Sometimes I can connect my camera or my card and my ipad will say no pictures detected or something like that. The other problem is the pics will load on my ipad and when I select the photos I want to transfer, I will get a red exclamation point on the selected pic instead of the green check you see when it successfully transfers a pic to the ipad. I also have the D90. My D90 worked without any problems at all.
    I reformatted my card several times. Sometimes it would transfer the pics after that, but then when you use either connector the next time it wouldn't work. I'm wondering if maybe there is something about the D7100 files that make it difficult for the ipad to read. I read elsewhere that if you change the file name to the pics, it will not be recognized via the connectors. I haven't changed any file names. When it works, it's great. The pics load fast, but take a little while longer to load than my pics from the D90. I'm sure that's because the D7100 files are larger than the D90 files. i hope that there is a fix for this problem. The pics from my D7100 displayed on my ipad look absolutely amazing. You feel like you're looking at the real live thing and that you can touch the actual object in the photo. Amazing camera! I love it!

  • In adobe pse and nikon nx2, I open 2 images, select in 1 a head, copy, open image 2 and paste, than only the outlines of the selection apears but no head. who knows this problem?

    in adobe PSE and in Nion NX2, I open 2 group Photos, select a head in photo 1 and copy, go to photo 2 and paste. Than only the selection-line
    appears and no head is visible! Who can tell me what is going wrong? Thanks: Max.

    I am sorry to have to point out to you that you have changed SpryMenuBasicSkin.css so much that it is impossible to render any assistance.
    To start with, the menubar has an ID of MenuBar, yet in the CSS I only see this referenced as a CLASS as in
    .MenuBar  {
    background-color:#cccccc;
    font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; /* Specify fonts on on MenuBar and subMenu MenuItemContainer, so MenuItemContainer,
    MenuItem, and MenuItemLabel
    at a given level all use same definition for ems.
    Note that this means the size is also inherited to child submenus,
    so use caution in using relative sizes other than
    100% on submenu fonts. */
    font-weight: normal;
    font-size: 16px;
    font-style: normal;
    padding:0;
    border-color: #ffffff #ffffff #ffffff #ffffff;
    border-width:0px;
    border-style: none none none none;
    I would suggest to start again.
    Once you have done that, supply a link to your site and we will assist you further.

    Mijn PSE 9 (op mijn MAC) opent geen NEF bestanden genomen via Nikon D7100 .Wat te doen ?

    The D7100 requires at least ACR 7.4 which doesn't work with PSE 9. So you can upgrade to a later version of PSE, use the nikon software to convert your files and only use PSE for additional editing, or download the free adobe dng converter, which you can use to convert your NEFs to DNGs that your version of PSE can understand.

  • I have recently purchased a Nikon D7100 and can no longer use Photoshop CS5 to process RAW files.What are my solutions ?

    I am sure this has been asked before for similar new camera buyers, but as I have made a sizeable investment in purchasing PS 5  less than one year ago, I expect ADOBE to have an upgrade available for my new Nikon D7100 camera.
    Other Software makers usually have upgrades available to download for new cameras not long after they are released.
    I have seen on some photography forums where other users of my camera model have asked the same question as myself without receiving  any positive advice other than to up grade to PS 6. A few suggestions do not work or are possibly illegal.
    Under consumer laws, in many countries, software makers are obliged to maintain support for a reasonable period of time after release.
    Come on Adobe, please help the many thousands of PS 5 and Lightroom users to use the Adobe software that they have purchased in good faith and we will move to PS 6 or 7 or 8 when we are ready.
    Can we please expect an answer to this problem any time soon ?

    Why did you purchase an obsolete version? One year ago Photoshop CS6 had already been out a while.
    According to this list
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
    support for that camera was added with Camera Raw 7.4, which means CS6 at least.

    This is a user to user Forum, so you are not really addressing Adobe here, even though some Adobe employees thankfully have been dropping by.
    Adobe is not in the habit of adding support for new cameras to obsolete versions of Camera Raw.
    But it offers the free DNG Converter.
    Edit: Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Windows
    And camera makers are free to adopt DNG if they want to make their cameras’ output easily editable with non-proprietary software, but it seems many of them simply don’t want that.

  • I have Elements 10 and a Nikon D7100. PSE10  CR 6.7 does not support the 7100 NEF. How can I get the updates to do this?

    I have Elements 10 and a Nikon D7100. PSE10  CR 6.7 does not support the 7100 NEF. How can I get the updates to do this?

    The D7100 requires camera raw 7.4 which is not compatible with Photoshop Elements 10.
    Your two main options are
    1) Buy a newer version of Photoshop Elements
    2) Use the Adobe DNG converter to convert the NEF files to DNG files which can then be used by Photoshop Elements 10.

  • Nikon D7100 and Premiere Pro

    I have experience editing in Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 and want to upgrade to CS6. I have recently changed to using the Nikon D7100 to produce video instead of a traditional video camera. It is my understanding that Adobe does not directly support the .MOV files produced by Nikon. I am curious how many issues arise from such editing? I am an amateur user, will it be to complicated to conversions (do I even know what I am talking about)? Also does the quality of the video degrade as a result of conversion?

    The files work natively in Premiere Pro CS6. Some users report that they get better performance when batch renaming clips to .mpg. Here is a thread: http://www.flickr.com/groups/nikon-d5100/discuss/72157630303565658/
    It's the QuickTime wrapper which affects performance.

  • Purchased new camera nikon d7100 and camera raw will not open any nef files, talked to tech support and they assured me an update would fix issue, did update and have  same issue still

    I have photoshop cs5 and after purchasing a nikon d7100, photoshop will not open any of the nef files like it did with my nikon d90, I contacted support and they assured me after update that issue would be resolved...still not resolved, any suggestions?

    Good day!
    Please check this list to see which version of ACR supports the camera:
    Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
    Then please check your version (Photoshop > About Plug-In > Camera Raw).
    As you should see your version is not up to the task.
    You can either buy a license for a more current version of Photoshop (CS6 is still available) or switch to the … Cloud License model or use the free DNG Converter.
