PSE 12 crashes continually whilst making slide show

Over the last few days I've had problems with the program crashing immediately on opening. After advice from this group, I managed to eliminate that problem but now seem to have created another, Whilst trying to construct a slideshow I have managed to get all my images selected and saved to the project but now the program crashes immediately I try to edit image texts, view them in full screen etc. This had not been a problem before my last issue dated 5/1/2014.
Do you have any suggestions on how to fix this problem? As before I am using Windows 7 Home Premium on a 64 bit machine 8GB Ram and heaps of disk space.
Regards, Garrysen.

Thank you for your response. I've downloaded Image Burn but haven't yet had the opportunity to try it out. I'll try it out tomorrow along with an attempt to get Premiere to recognize my drive which again is fast and up to date.
My computer is a Windows 7 64 bit machine with 8 GB RAM and loads of free disk space. I suspect my programs are still the original 12 version but I have tried to invoke any upgrades in the past. It seems they must not have worked.
Regarding the Organiser problem, I have deleted the psa.prf file as you suggested but that failed to make any difference - the program still closes immediately after being launched. It doesn't stay open long enough for me to create a new catalog.
Do you have any further suggestions? And thanks once again for your help so far.

  • Making slide shows

    Hi all,
For my next exhibition of ‘real black and white photography’, I’ve assembled 45 colour images using the iMac to run a slide show as an additional attraction. I put them into iPhoto and used the ‘make slide show’ command.
I’ve given each image a fictional date by which it should be possible to show the images in the order I want to see them - but iPhoto just plays them as ‘it’ wants…
I’ve tried rebuilding it as a movie in Quick Time - no deal: I also tried Apple Keynote, but it thinks that everyone uses horizontal images; I can’t change its mind - not an ideal program for people with their own ideas on how things should look:-)
In the end, I settled for Preview, which works fine. It adjusts the various format images and plays them in the proper sequence. The only thing I cannot adjust, in Preview, is the time interval between each picture...
    Can anyone help?
PS. On the other hand, I hope the above might be of help to others...

    gete:
Did those portrait photos come from a digital camera
with auto-rotate capability? If so that's probably
the reason for some applications displaying them in
the default landscape orientation. To get them
permanently in the portrait mode try exporting then
to the desktop and check them by dragging into an
open Safari window. Safari does not read the rotate
tag that get embedded in those files so it will
display them in their true orientation.
A suggestion regarding the slideshow: have you
considered iDVD? You can set the order in an iPhoto
album and then from iDVD select that album and import
into a slideshow. With iDVD 6 you can add titles
and/or comments to each slide and the entire slide
will display on the TV screen (if you play it thru a
TV) unlike a QT video slideshow in iDVD which is
subject to the over scan you get with any video. You
can set the slideshow to play immediately when the
disk is inserted into the player and have it repeat
    continuously.
    Do you
    Twango?
Hi to the Old Toad - a friend of Wind in the Willows I guess:-)
None of these images are digital, apart from the fact they (6 x 7 cm color transparencies exposed in 1993 in Newfoundland) were scanned, tuned
and/or cropped according to how I re-visualized them.
So this 'Great Plan' of mine - as usual - doesn't fit the run of the mill stuff.
Actually, I ran it through several times last night in Preview and I'm satisfied with the result in the iMac - which I will take into the gallery to use as the display; I could use the PowerBook, but see no point buying a TFT monitor just for a 4 week-long show!
Your tip re making the show in iDVD looks interesting, and I'll give it a try later today - thanks for idea; I'll come back to you to say how it goes.
BTW, the main exhibition showcases my black and white images made in a Hasselblad 6 x 6 cm camera during the same 1993 journey, plus my latest limited (3 sets) edition of black and white prints in Ansel Adams quality.
You see, I'm one of the still surviving photo-dinosaurs:-)
    Thanks again,

  • PSE 8 in Win 7 - Slide Show Editor does not display preview

I have a student who is not able to see the preview either in the monitor window or full screen in the Slide Show Editor. The individual slides are black. However, when the slide show is rendered it is fine.  She also has PSE 7, and it works fine in this regards. Any ideas?
    TIA
    Don S.

    Cowboy,
We will definitely check to make sure the color is set to 32-bit. What I meant to say in my earlier post was that in the various computers I bought over the years, I have never seen any with their "default" setting at less than 32-bit - at least I don't recall ever having to put them into the 32-bit mode. Also, I'm pretty sure my student did not go in and change the setting. But we are going to check, just to make sure.
    Thanks again for your reply.

I have re-install the Program and install it new and check if i have the newest version. After this I try again, but the Problem is the same.

    Lothar - E
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
These are two different crashes. So, I'm not sure if the solution will work. Going from the second one:
    That
    Exception Codes: KERNPROTECTIONFAILURE
is always a Data Related issue.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Does pse 13 for Mac have slide show capabilities?

i am using PSE 10 which does not support slideshows on the Mac platform.  Does PSE 13 (Mac) include slide show capabilities?  If so, is it as versatile as the PC platform?

There is a completely new slideshow in PSE 13, which is the same for both platforms. It isn't as customizable as the old slide show editor.

  • Making slide shows with photographs still easy/better with IM 08?

Is the application any easier to add photos text and good transitions to create better slide shows/qt movies?
    anyone tried this yet

I'm currently trying it and as far as I can tell the answer is a resounding NO. I'm dropping some time lapse images into iMovie and trying to add a cross dissolve transition between about 100 photos. If you set it up right during import you can do this, but you can no longer select multiple images and change the time or multiple transitions. In fact shift-clicking or command-clicking more than one clip no longer works.
I'm going back to iMovie 06 for this type of editing and just avoiding the crashes by doing smaller chunks at a time. Disappointing.

  • Trouble with making slide show VCD or copying photos to CD

I have saved approximately 200 photos and made a copy of the photos on a cd.  The problem is that some of the photos copied horizontally instead of in vertical format.....the photos where all properly showing on the PSE7 organizer...but about 13 copied in the wrong format???  Then I tried making a slide show with music....works fine in the PSE7 program, but when I went to output to VCD, nothing copied....except some files that don't contain the photos?
    Russ

    1. Reduce the image size 1000 x 750 if you are using high resolution images.
    2. Use windows supported codec background music for slide show.
    3. Update the latest audio/video drivers.

  • PSE9 Organizer crashes during playing of slide show

I've upgraded from PSE6 to PSE9. PSE9 reported no failures when converting my PSE6 catalog. When I open the organizer, all looks fine. If I go to full screen on a photo, then click play to run a slide show, the organizer works fine for a while, then stops.
I've attempted to get the assistance of Adobe support, but their responses have been worse than useless...some are comical. I've describe the situation to them thoroughly and sent the failure report data that Microsoft provides when a program stops working.
Does anyone here have any helpful suggestions on where I can go for help on this? Have you also had useless information from Adobe when asking for support?

There is a kb particle published by Adobe for the solution of this problem. Check it out at http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/406/kb406966.html and see if this resolves your problem.

  • Making A Slide Show To Burn To A DVD

His I just started using photshop elemnents 13 from a previous 11 version.
In the past I picked some 300 slides to make a slide show with music and then exported it to a WMV and then imported the WMV into premiere elements and burned a DVD. In phtoshop elements when I selected my slide and created a slide show I could choose how many seconds each slide, the color of the borders, the manner in which slide changed and I used random.
You could then do zoom in or out, make extra slide with information, add music and then save and export to a WMV and then import that into premiere elements and then burn a DVD.
    Help
    Tom Fitch

Reason I thought PSE4 would burn to a DVD is, there is a button in the slide show screen that says "burn to DVD" in the PSE4 book we were reading.
If Premiere Elements 2 were also installed with Photoshop Elements 4, then it was possible to burn to DVD from the PSE 4 slide show editor by using Premiere Elements 2.   Not all writing on that workflow made it obvious that the Premiere Elements software was required.
Would I be better off getting a different program for making slide shows? The pictures I'm trying to make into a slide show are from a 90th birthday party I shoot over the weekend and want to give out copies of a DVD to the guest.
    Option 1
If you have already made a slide show in the Photoshop Elements slide show editor, then you might as well do some investigation of the alternatives.
-- What Windows operating system are you running ? If it includes Windows DVD Maker, then I would give that a try. Write your output of the slide show from PSE to a File - WMV - with Size of DVD,NTSC (or DVD,PAL if your TV is PAL format).  Then use that WMV file as input to Windows DVD Maker.
-- If you don't have Windows DVD Maker then you could investigate whatever DVD software came with your PC.
FYI - One warning about the photo files that you use in that PSE slide show. If you use hundreds of high resolution photo files, then PSE can have problems. If your output will NOT be High Def (and yours probably will not be since you mentioned a DVD) then "downsizing" the photo files to approx 1000x 750 pixels will decrease the probablility of your having problems with the slide show.
    Option 2
If you have not yet started the PSE slide show, then you might consider a program that many people like for slide shows ----- ProShow Gold from Photodex. It does have a trial.

  • Why does my slide show with music crash back to the album on Retina display?

I really enjoy making slide shows that have music on iphotonand have done it for years.  Suddenly after working with slide shows and music on my new Mac Book Pro 15" with retina display the slide show crashes back to the album display after the first slide.  The title comes up, the music starts the first slide comes up and then it just stops and goes back to the album display.  Everything was working fine until Sunday when I installed the new Iphoto.

Ok, people. No one helped me on this one, I figured it out by myself.   There is a new section in Iphoto called "slideshows" and if you move the album from which you want to make a slideshow there the  slideshow and music work perfectly together with the benefit that now you and store different music with each slide show that I hadn't been able to do before.
    Mystery solved.

  • PSE 7 Slide Show Music

I am using PSE 7 to create a slide show.  I am attempting to add music but cannot seem to download songs from my itunes library where most of my music is stored. I am runnig Windows 7 and have been able to download from my Windows mucic folders.  Is there a way to import music from an itunes library?  Any advice would be appreciated.

PSE slide show has some issues with high resolution images. Please reduce the size of the image 1000 x 700 and create/burn DVD.

  • PSE 9 Organizer error codec trying to add an Elements audio file to slide show

I am using PSE 9 to build a slide show. When I add audio, I can use mp3's  from my music library in the slide show without any issues ...
but I am getting the following error when I try to add an Elements audio file (example " A _Taste_Of_Sicily.mp3)
This is the Organizer error message:
"Unable to add the audio file (C:\ProgramData\Adobe\ElementsOrganizer\8.0\Music\A_Taste_Of_Sicily.mp3).
The selected file cannot be played because your system does not have the required compresser/decompresser(codec) installed."
I had PSE 8 and upgraded to PSE 9 - I noticed the error file detail shows 8.0 - Is this my problem - maybe an incomplete upgrade ?  (I've made several slideshows mixing photos and music, on an older computer using PSE 8 and never ran into this issue.)
Below is my system info in case that helps:
OS=Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit on an HP Pavillion dv7

Does that file extension really have a space in it?  If so, remove the space.

  • Premiere Elements 7 crashes on creating slide show

    Hi Gurus,
I use Premiere Elements 7 for about 2 years and it works fine when I need to create a film from set of video fragments.
But I also need to create slide shows from pictires.
For some reason PRE7 crashs on building such slide show (at least, this is valid for a long enough slide show). It happens not always on the same slide, but approximately at the same percentage of the slide show to be built.
    I run PRE7 on Windows XP, SP3 32-bit
What may be a reason of this crash? Conflict with some other software, installed on my computer? Lacking resources (I have 4 GBytes of memory, but Win 32-bit uses only 3.25 GBytes)? Known bug?
I tried to install the trial version of PRE9, but the result was even worse: it crashed even more quickly than PRE7. i.e. less slides were processed before the crash.
Any suggestion that can help to solve this issue will be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Ilia

If you can handle smaller numbers of large images, but not larger numbers, it is likely a resource issue. It could be RAM, Virtual Memory, or similar.
This ARTICLE might be helpful for setting up your computer for an editing session, and freeing as many resources, as is possible. This ARTICLE discusses Virtual Memory.
PrE 9 will have about the same resource requirements, or might use a bit more, so a large number of large still images will remain a problem.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Making hi-res slide shows with PE7 or 5

Hi all, I am a long time user of PE5 and prior, but have only recently started making slide shows with zooms, fades and music. I made a vCD, and the resolution wasn't very good on my HDTV. Must I use Premiere Elements 7 to make hi-res DVDs of my slides that preserve the features, or will PS7 by itself do it? [I don't really need  video editing capability.]  Can I use Premiere Elements 7 with PE5? Or would it make most sense to upgrade to PE7 and PreE7 together?  Are there any other good solutions other than adding a video editing program?
    Many thanks

I am sure that this has already been dealt with on this site. Check the search box at the top to see what comes up. I think your PlayBook has to be sent back to RIM. Here is the RIM contact info for Germany. I think they have a very quick turnaround time. Backup all your data before sending it to them

  • In PE11 the quality of the photos in the slide show are inferior to those in the catalogue.  Why?

I have been on the phone for a few hours to Adobe but they are stil investigating.  When I produce a slide show using Elements 11 the pictures are no way near as clear as they appear in the folders.  I just want to show my pictures without them looking like crap.  They were taken using the highest quality photo on the camera, which is a new Nikon and look great when viewing through Elements Organiser.  They also look amazing in the original source, eg My Pictures files.  When making slide show it asks the quality and I select high.
Does anyone else have a problem Or better still a solution????
Driving me nuts so any help appreciated.

DVD Standards are 720 x 480 NTSC, 720 x 576 PAL. So it doesn't matter how good the resolution is in your original images when you burn to DVD those resolutions will be reduced to one of the above.
So I suggest you follow the instructions earlier for File> Process Multiple Files and reduce the size in PSE to 720 x 576 (as you wanted a PAL DVD) and then create your slide show for further editing in PRE.
The reason for this suggestion is that it is generally considered in the PRE Community forum that PRE has a cruder image resizing algorithm than PSE.
If you think you may want to do Pan & Zoom on some of your images resize them to say 1000 pixels wide (with constrain proportions set).
You might find this PRE FAQ Entry helpful:
Why isn't my DVD as clear and detailed as my original footage?
