PSE 12 installed halfway

Hello,
The first installation PSE 12 from DVD started and stopped in the middle, saying something like "shared devices not found".
I started windows again - same result. Now the installation-program tries to uninstall - and stopps, because uninstall is not complete.
So: somewhere are still files that have to be deleted manually? Or in the registry?
Or is it a problem that PSE10 is installed? Or my Internet-Security Bitdefender? I can turn the Internet-Security off: same result, tries to uninstall but cannot find PSE 12.
My environment: Win 7 prof.
Thanks for help.
Regards Ernst

Thank you,
"fix it" worked and I could try to install again PSE12. But again: it stoppes with the error "shared technologies". Okay, once again, "fix it" and this time a clean restart with windows, disabling most services. Same result.
Adobe Support Adviser did not help either.
Actual state: Photoshop Elements Editor is installed and works - except RAW-Format, there are no plug-ins installed.
Elements Organizer was not installed and cannot be installed without uninstalling the Editor - and starting the same procedure again....
There are just two things that I did not try:
a) open a new user account on win 7
b) copy the installation DVD on a harddisk for installing
Any suggestions or forget it and wait for PSE 13?
Thanks and Regards Ernst/Aschi Haas

  • App installed halfway - now can't get rid of it

My wire got disconnected halfway installing an app. Now it's forever stuck at the 'waiting' status. I'd like to get rid of the app and put it on again, but I can't. There's no X for me to click on, when I'm on the iPhone to uninstall. iTunes uninstall by 'unchecking tick box' for the app doesn't seem to be working. When I go appstore, it says app already installed.
    Help!

You downloaded the app with iTunes on your computer?
If so, no change after syncing your iPhone with iTunes with the app selected under the Apps tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes - the app is not installed on your iPhone?
If not, the app is not completely removed from your iPhone after deselecting the app under the Apps tab followed by a sync?

  • PSE Install problem

I have not tried a bunch of times to install PSE 10 on my Windows 7 desktop (32-bit).  It keeps getting to the point where it is trying to install the Shared Technologies package and then fails and does a roll back uninstall.  I have looked at the install log and there are messages to the effect that some of the "payloads" cannot be installed "dependencies are x64 payloads which are not supported on this machine x86"
Interesting, I have been able to install the program on my laptop which is Windows 7 64-bit.
Does any one have any insight as to why I cannot install on my 32-bit desktop?
    Thanks,
    Doug

I solved the problem by doing one of the things suggested on the Elements Knowledgebase which was to start in a totally clean boot mode.  First I tried just starting with all of my startup programs disabled and that didn't do it.  Next I disabled all of the non-Microsoft services and clean-booted again.  That did the trick.  I noticed that one of those services was Spybot and this might have prevented the installation from making certain changes to the system/registry.  So I guess the answer is to do the install with a totally clean-boot system!

  • PSE instal & iPhoto 11 probe

    Hi there
I have just installed PSE on a trial on my Mac running Lion & OSX 10.7.5 with a 2.7 Ghz Intel Core i5
I am trying to get PSE to talk to Iphoto 11 but I am having no luck.
All the drop down choices for importing from iPhoto do not relate and vica versa.
I thought that there would be a dropdown for iPhoto in Prefs> General but nothing exists there.
In PSE File>Import it only says Frame from Video
Doesnt sound as if it installed properly
    What should I do ?
    Many thanks
    Steve

No, that's fine. Do you understand that you can't treat the iphoto library like any normal folder? That library is for iphoto's own use and you should never, never poke around in it from outside iphoto. That's the fastest way to corrupt the library and lose all your photos, so PSE won't go there.
    So you have two choices:
    1. Set PSE as your external editor in the iphoto prefs and send the photos from iphoto. Save, not Save As (you may need to set the editor preferences>saving files>on first save to Save Over Existing to make this work) and iPhoto will remember your last edited version and the original, although you have to lose the edits to get back to the original.
If you decide to do this, the actual PSE editor is in Applications>Adobe Photoshop Elements 11>Support Files. The one at the top level of the PSE folder is just an alias for the welcome screen.
    2. Export the photos from iphoto, edit the copies, make any changes to name, format, etc, that you like, and import the edited copies as new files.

  • Help - PSE Install Gone Wrong. Error Messages & Gibberish in Mac Files

    Hello,
I hope someone can help me!!! I am super freaked out . I installed the PSE 8 for on my Mac last night. I had tested the trial on my computer without any problems a few months ago. So anyway, the program immediately started giving me error messages about not being able to copy and paste images. Then I noticed one of my Keynote documents text became jumbled. And more importantly, a Pages file that I am getting ready to send to a printer is now 95% gibberish! I have not closed it out and tried to save a new file but the new file is still gibberish.
When I installed the PSE 8, I check marked all the boxes (options) and I am wondering if that is the problem. How do I fix my files so the gibberish goes back to normal? I know I will have to reinstall the PSE which is no big deal.
My main concern is having my Page & Keynote files fixed!
I am grateful for any feedback and suggestions!!!!
    Thank you,
    Nikki

Thank you! I will be sure to repair permissions after installs. I didn't know that.
So while I was on hold for about 45mins. with customer support, I discovered that my files that had gibberish became normal once I changed the font. 90% of the files were using the Adobe Garamond Pro font. So when I changed the font to Arial, you could read it again. So it seems like the Garamond font got corrupted. I need to use this file for the 12 page newsletter that I have already typeset.
Now that PSE is removed, the Garamond font is back to normal!!
I am going to wait until I get the newsletter off to the printer before I reinstall PSE. Any suggestions on how to not let PSE corrupt it or why do you think that happened? I did tell it to install everything on the CD (all the extras which may had extra fonts?)
    Thank you again,
    Nikki

  • Leopard failed to install halfway through

I got passed the language selection and all that and about halfway through the installation it crashed and said to restart. It deleted Tiger and didnt install Leopard. When I try to boot from Leopard dvd I just get the white screen with the apple and the circle. When i start up without leopard in the drive i get a blue screen for a few minutes and then it tells me to restart. Thats as far as i can get. Ive tried booting in safemode and firmware and nothing has worked so far. I'm really not sure what to do next. Might there be another Leopard disc im not finding; this one says CPU Drop-in DVD

Another hosed installation and apparently you don't have a bootable backup. All I can suggest is to use the Tiger install disks that came with your machine and restore the machine to factory specs. Once, that's done, get a bootable, external HD (preferably FireWire), and make a bootable backup/clone before upgrading and ensure that it's bootable and works like the original. That allows you to revert to the previous good state without having to reinstall anything. See these for details:

  • Unable to install PSE 8 on iMAC G5 OS 10.4.11

I am running OS X  10.4.11 and can't get PSE 8 to  install. I've tried all weekend. I am not running Safari at any  time and not at start up.  I  load the PSE 8 DVD; open the setup.app;  the PSE8 splash screen opens an  says its loading; and another Installer  Alert (blank) window opens on top. Then the app cranks on for hours...last  time I let it run for 3 hrs and no install happened.
This is the  worst PSE install ever.  I succesfully  installed PSE6 on my MAC;  installed PSE8 on my Dell; and installed Word  2007 on the MAC w/ no  problems.  Any ideas on what I shoudl try next?
Adobe  support was not  helpful....they wanted me to try the SW on another MAC  computer.  What?  Like I have a spare MAC sitting around for sofware  testing?

Unfortunately, PSE 8 is Intel only. It will not install on a G5.

  • Help opening raw files in PSE 13

    Hello,
I upgraded PSE 13 from PSE 9. I was using PSE 9 with my Nikon 600 (because I couldn't open the 600 raw files in PSE 9) by using the Adobe DNG converter. This was working fine. Since upgrading I can't open any Nikon 600 raw files in PSE 13 nor can I open the converted DNG files. It only recognizes jpeg files. The "Open in Camera Raw" option in the File drop down menu is also grayed out and can't be selected. I've tried the "updates" option from the Help menu and ran the updates, shut down PSE13 and also shut down computer and it still isn't working.  Wondering if I need to download a new ACR but can't find any that support the Nikon 600. Any help would be appreciated!

    Thank you for your help.
When I do the "Help" drop down menu there isn't an option for "adobe plug-in" just "about plug-in" which doesn't list any options that seem to help when clicking on and none that say Camera raw.
I read the manual instructions for downloading and am currently downloading the zip file; it is about 70% done. Will this help?
    This is what I'm referencing:
These instructions were originally written to install ACR 8.2 for PSE11, but have been updated to install ACR 8.3 with PSE12.  While ACR 8.3 RC would work with PSE11, ACR 8.3 final will not.  Only PSE12 will host ACR 8.3.
ACR 8.3 will work with PSE12 to open 70D files, but on an older Windows OS like Vista or XP  there is no compatible installer, so a manual install is the only option.  I should also say that the process outlined below does work on my Windows 7 64-bit computer, but I also have PS-CS6 and PS-CC installed on it, so it is possible that ACR 8.3 is dependent on something that wouldn't exist on a computer with only PSE installed on it, but someone else will have to confirm that.
I was able to get 70D files to open in ACR 8.3 on PSE12 by doing the following:
Download the ACR 8.3 for Windows update for PS-CC via the direct download link on the Adobe Blog - in the future this link will likely contain links to only newer versions of ACR but the process would be similar:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/crawlspace/2011/03/keeping-photoshop-up-to-date.html#notconnected
Unzip this downloaded setup.zip to a folder somewhere.
Inside the files from that zip is a folder called payloads \ AdobeCameraRaw8.0All-031213015928.
(Note that for future versions of PS and ACR the folder name will be different at the end, but the general format shold be similiar, and the important thing is that this is the folder without x64 in the path, because at this point PSE is a 32-bit program so we need the 32-bit version of the plug-in.  At some point in the future, PSExx may be 64-bit and the approporiate file or files could be the 64-bit version for the 64-bit version of PSE.  This zip file is for Photoshop which has both 32-bit and 64-bit versions so there are both versions of the plug-in as well.)
Inside that folder is another ZIP called Assets1_1.zip so unzip it somewhere.
Inside Assets1_1.zip there is a file called 1003.  This is the largest or perhaps only file in that zip and is the plug-in you need.
Copy this 1003 file into the existing PSE12 camera raw plug-in folder:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\Elements 12\File Formats or for a 32-bit Windows OS, into:  C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\Elements 12\File Formats
Rename the existing Camera Raw.8bi to Camera Raw_8bi_80 (in case something doesn't work and you need to rename it back, later).
    Rename 1003 to Camera Raw.8bi
After these steps you have the ACR 8.3 plug-in installed in PSE12 but not the camera and lens profiles, so install those by downloading and installing the DNG Converter 8.3:

  • PSE 7 Problem

We have been using Photoshop Album 2.0 since it came out but decided it's time to upgrade to PSE.  Album 2.0 currently has 14,000+ images.  PSE installed ok but when Organizer was used to download the images from a file folder plus subfolders, it stops at 2,290 images and a Microsoft problem box appears.  Tried twice and stops at the same number.  Running XP with current Service Packs.  Using Norton 360. Help!!

Since you have been using PS Album 2, you will want to upgrade your current PSA 2 catalog to PSE 8.
Your wording in your post is implying to me that you are Getting your photo files in to a new PSE 8 catalog instead of doing the Catalog upgrade.
Note: your upgrade process from PSA 2 will probably require more discussion and people find that coming from PSA 2 can require some additional work. However I think it is important to clarify your overall plan rather than just answering your current question.
Also please tell us if you now have a new computer with the Windows operating systems on the old and new computer because that will most likely impact recommendations for how you proceed.
P.S.So that I don't toally ignore your current results, here are some questions about it.
I have no immediate idea why it stopped at that particular place, Did you see any type of error message?
Do you see any thumbnails for the files that it was able to process and if yes, what would be the next file in the same Windows folder ? Perhaps that is a problematic photo or other media file.

  • PSE 9 Nightmare

Sorry Adobe but downloading and installing PSE 9 has been a freaking nightmare. I needed two chat sessions to get the program downloaded. Then I find that it's a 7-Zip file that I had to get a program to extract the files. Now that I have the files extracted "setup.exe" starts and then quits without installing the program. It used to be so simple. Buy PSE, download PSE, install PSE. Why does it have to be so convoluted a process now?

Good question. If I had to guess, I'd guess it has something to do with security, but why it has to do with security is a mystery to me. I'm with you, why can't it be simple: buy PSE, download PSE, and then use PSE?

  • PSE 8 questions

I currently have PSE 7 and have been frustrated with the movie playback of HD footage from my point and shoot, the lack of facial recognition that auto tags, and no facebook integration.  I have been toying with switching to Picasa which has all of the above.  Now with PSE 8 - it looks like the facial recognition is in, but I have read posts about jerky video playback.  I have been loyal to Adobe, using Elements back when it was just an organizer.  I like the layout and ease of tagging.  I have a large, tagged, photo collection which is why I am hesitant to switch to another program.
    1.  Is there a approval process for the facial recognition?  What happens if it tags the wrong person?
    2.  Is there facebook integration?
    3.  Can I run both PSE7 and 8 to try PSE8 for myself, without messing up my PSE7 catalog?  I would like to use all the same photos for both versions so I can accurately test PSE8.
    I am running  Vista 64.
    Jason

You can change the tags assigned by face recognition.  There is no integration with Facebook.  You can have multiple versions of PSE installed, and they don't interfere with each other.  When you install the free trial of PSE 8, it will convert a copy of your PSE 7 catalog, leaving the original untouched.

  • Organizer 8 will not launch after installing Windows 8

I have PSE 8,0 and it was running just fine. Now I have installed Windows 8 and I can't open the organizer? Is there an explanation of this?
Message title was edited by: Brett N

Generally, if you have PSE installed and then upgrade your OS over the top of the old one, you will have to recreate the application settings. Go to C:\Users\[User Name]\Appdata\Roaming\Adobe\Elements Organizer\8.0\ and delete the Organizer folder and try again.

What is "Photoshop Elements Premier 12"? Do you mean Photoshop Elements or Premiere Elements? Were your files copied over from a previous mac that had PSE installed on it?
