PSE 12 plugins
I cant add more than one 3rd party plugin. I go to preferences I add the plugin, Close out of PSE 12 and when I open it is there. When I add another plugin (same process) it adds the new plug in but deletes the previously added one. It will only allow me to add one plugin. Why is this? PSE 10 I added about 12 plugins.
If you go to
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 12 (64 bit version of windows 7)
or
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 12 (32 bit version of windows 7)
you should see the Plug-Ins folder

PSE 6.0 on Mac and my HP Scanjet 6350C plugin not working
Hi,
I think the title say it almost all about my issue, but when I install my HP Scanjet drivers and tools, I have a Photoshop plugin. When I was under PSE3.x on my Mac, it used to be detected and worked fine. Now, I'm trying to configure it for PSE 6.x and the plugin is not detected by PSE.
Any idea what I may have got wrong? Maybe in the wrong folder?
ThanksMy scanner is not very recent, maybe late 90's. So yes, I'm pretty sure this is the latest drivers, has they do not update the drivers for older scanner that often.
I'm using OS X 10.5 Leopard. The scanner software in standalone mode is working correctly. I just cannot add the PSE plugin and make it work.
My Mac is an iMac Intel 24" white. But like I said, the plugin used to work on this machine in PSE3. In the help menu, I can read something like: external module not loaded: NONE. But I also read at the beginning that my external module main folder is:
MyHD:Applications:Adobe Photoshop Elements 6:Plug-Ins:
And no other folders are define for plugin. I put my scanjet plugin into:
MyHD:Applications:Adobe Photoshop Elements 6:Plug-Ins:ImportModules:
I rename the file to Scanjet.plugin (from Scanjet without the .plugin extension), but that did not help. -
Camera Raw showing up double in PSE 8
Hi
After upgrading to PSE 8, the plugin Camera Raw shows up twice in About Plugins (both show Version 5.5.0.97). In the Open as filetype list, I also see two Camera Raw entries, of which one works just fine, the other one leads to error message "This process could not be executed, because a program error occured" (my translation from German to English).
I noticed that by removing the file Camera Raw.8bi from C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 8.0\Plug-Ins\File Formats removes one of the entries. So PSE 8 seems to get ACR 5.5 from somewhere else than from Camera Raw.8bi also.
This problem does not seem to be related to my installation, please also see this thread in the PSE forum.
The installation guide clearly states that one has to copy Camera Raw.8bi to the PSE plugin directory, although it only mentions PSE 6.0 und PSE 7.0.
Can anybody give me a hint on where PSE 8 gets its ACR from, and what I would have to do to upgrade it to a new version if I don't keep Camera Raw.8bi in the plugin directory?

As per John R. Ellis' post here, Adobe has moved the location of the file Camera Raw.8bi from
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 8.0\Plug-Ins\File Formats\
to
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\Elements 8\File Formats\
with PSE 8.
So deleting the file C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 8.0\Plug-Ins\File Formats\Camera Raw.8bi resolves the problem.
Adobe, please make a note of this in the ACR installation guide.

Having upgraded to PSE 11. Previously, if I chose a Raw file in iPhoto (11), ACR (PSE plugin for editing Raw files) would open automatically. It no longer does, I have to browse to the file in PSE; a pain!
Any ideas?

Are you sure that you have the external editor set correctly - Adobe has cleaverly hidden the correct selection inside a folder and the obvious one is not the correct one - you can search the foruns to find the instructions on where to find the correct program to use for editing if this is the issue
Also you need to post the version of iPhoto that you are using and verify that your profile is correct.

Newest ACR 5.5 Update will not load into Elements 7.0 - what gives?
Hello All:
This situation is now becoming ridiculous (well, for me that is). I just tried to install the new ACR 5.5 update and it is "unable to install" into Elements 7.0. I downloaded the update several times, unzipped the install file, but when trying to install, it just gives me a message that it is unable to install and to hit the "quit" button.
I have a Vista 64 Bit system with 12 Gigs of RAM. I've installed Elements 7.0 and the newest Lightroom 2.5 update on my system - all with no problems. As an aside, for some reason, I could never get Photoshop CS-4 to install at all and I've been through the mill trying to install Photoshop - but nothing worked and had to eventually give up. Trying to get Adobe support for CS-4 installation on my 64 Bit system has been ridiculous in this regard as each and every time I called, I was connected with some techrep located in India who all they did was "parrot" back what I told them - how frustrating. But as I mentioned, Elements 7.0 and Lightroom installed just fine.
The previous ACR 5.4 installed just fine into Elements 7.0, but now...ACR 5.5 will not install. It tells me that I do NOT have CS-4 installed so it cannot install. What's up with that? Has Adobe stopped supporting the latest ACR upgrades for Elements? What gives?
Does anybody just have just the newest ACR 5.5 plug-in by itself that they can send me so I can just put it in my plug-ins folder (or a place where I can download it)? Adobe used to just have the plug-in that you could unzip and copy and paste and put it into your plug-in folders - but not anymore. Now they make it an 82 Meg install program and thus some of my problems.
Can anybody help here? Why does the install program look for CS-4, yet overlook Elements 7.0 completely. Helpppppppppp.
BenFirst off, did you download the right Camera Raw 5.5? If you go to the Camera Raw 5.5 updates page, I think the downloadable there is for Photoshop. There should be a line that has a link to a Photoshop Elements download page.

If you installed ACR before then you know the procedure. Just in case you don't, try this:
Here's what I do for ACR installs:
I navigate to the PSE/Plugins/file formats folder.
I rename the existing Camera Raw.8bi to Camera Raw.8bi.old
I download the ACR 5.5
Right-click on the zipped folder and select Extract All...
I right-click on and select copy for the Camera Raw.8bi file
I then right-click in an open area of the File Formats folder and select Paste.
I open PSE6 and drag a couple of NEF's to it. ACR opens and shows the NEFs ready for editing.
That's it. My understanding has always been that installing ACR updates is not your normal 'install' like with other programs. It's a copy/paste of one file.

O.T. Hundreds Of Digital Filters For 15 days
Optical filter maker Tiffen has made its digital filter software available as a free trial download.

Here is what I did:
1 - I de-installed PSE6 and reinstalled it
2 - The base directories for my filters were in a directory I created: d:\Data\Socuments\Adobe\PSE Plugins\Filters
3 - I started PSE 6 and went to Edit--->Preferences--->Plug-Ins... and entered the plug-in directory name: "d:\Data\Documents\Adobe\PSE Plugins".
4 - Closed and re-started PSE 6
5 - No new filters!
6 - Closed PSE 6
7 - Moved the filters down one level to my "d:\Data\Documents\Adobe\PSE Plugins" directory
8 - Restarted PSE and the filters are now there!
I KNOW I tried this earlier and it didn't work (well - I THINK I tried it, at least :-) )

Canon EOS 7D CR2 Photos not Visible in CS4 Bridge
Hello, Having downloaded the 5.6 plug-in for Elements 8 and saved it to my PSE plugin folder (IMAC) I am able to open and manipulate photos in Bridge and PSE. But I am unable to physically view the files in Bridge. Rather they appear as white rectangles. Thanks in advance for your help! Eleke
Photoshop and Photoshop Elements have their own locations for the plug-in so you'll need to update the Photoshop one as well. You can try Help / Updates and see if that works; otherwise, you can download and run the updater manually by going to http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/ and selecting Camera RAW and your computer type from the drop-down-list at the top, clicking Go, and then finding the download link for 5.6 and downloading and installing from the Photoshop-specific instructions, there.
Alternatively, if you want you can just search your hard-drive for the plug-in file name and copy the PSE one over the top of the PS one, restart PS and be done. -
I am trying to open my files (Nikon D5000) in elements 7, but they won't open. I downloaded Camera Raw 5.6 & followed the directions as stated on this site, however camera raw is not prperly installed in PSE. It is not showing up in the "plug ins" even though it is in the folder on my computer. Any help with this would be GREATLY appreciated!
that's another part of the instructions i was confused at. I downloaded 5.6 from the adobe site, but when i opened it after it downloaded, it didn't give me an option to unzip it. It had the win64 folder, the camera raw file, and the camera profiles file. I was then able to move the camera raw file into the PSE/plugins/file format folder. that's as far as i'm getting. Am i missing a step? It doesn't seem like there is anything i can do besides that. After the 5.6 downloads it asks if i want to open, save, or save as. i hit save. then it takes me to the downloads folder where i can get to it as stated above. (i hope this makes sense!)

How to get good quality slideshow?

Im in a true war with Photoshop 6 Elements and Premiere 6 Elements to build a photo slideshow DVD to be played in a common DVD player on a LCD TV
All photos were taken at least with 6 MB size and in 16:9 format, and edited in Photoshop 6 Elements for color, brightness and contrast correction, sharpness and other common adjustments. Soon afterwards they were downsized to 1920 X 1080 pixels with Genuine Fractal 5 PSE plugin, maintaining 72 dpi. I used this relative large size intending, in the future, to use these same pictures to build a slideshow in Blu-ray HD, and Genuine Fractal was used to get the best resizing without loss of quality.
After these adjustments in PSE, these pictures were arranged in slideshow format in Phosotshop Elements itself (Create > slideshow), put the transitions and, in sequence, exported directly to Premiere 6 Elements. In PREL the clip was breaked apart for best edditing, adding here some titles, narration and exported in MPG clip.
To build the MPG clip, I used the best adjustments settings: quality 5, target bitrate 7.5, maximum bitrate 8, VBR 2 pass. These clips were later arranged together to build the disc in Encore.
I noted that, when editing the pictures in PREL6, the image were very small in Premiere Elements monitor, filling only 50% of the monitor screen, even having the pictures 1920 X 1080 pixels size, being necessary to manually increase its size to fill out the whole screen.
When playing the DVD disc in the computer, the images were great, with good clearness and details and color consistence. However, when playing this DVD in a common player on a LCD TV, the image was terrible, losing all the clearness, with discolored colors, loss of details and with jagged edges.
Did anybody already have this problem? Does some special technique or adjustments setting exist to prepare the pictures or the video clip to be presented as a slideshow in DVD on a 16:9 TV LCD?

Valter - BrazilI've been using Adobe Encore CS4 to author Blu-Ray discs with slide shows on my iMac.
When I import high-quality 16:9 MPEG photos directly into Encore and build a slide show using Encore, the results are terrible when viewed on a big-screen HDTV connected to a Blu-Ray player. The colors seem off, and the resolution is horrible. There are all sorts of jagged edges and other artifacts. It looks far worse that a slideshow on a standard-definition DVD built using iPhoto and iDVD.
A better solution is to simply build the slideshow in iPhoto and export it as a QuickTime movie file (*.mov). You have to play around a bit to find the option in iPhoto that allows custom settings, but once you find it you can encode the slideshow in H.264 with full 1920 x 1080 resolution. Then you can import the resulting *.mov file into Encore as an asset, then create a timeline for it. You basically treat it like a movie.
Encore CS4 has lots of bug in it. For example, I just downloaded the latest update yesterday (I think it was 4.0.1). Now, whenever I try to build a Blu-Ray disc, I get an error message. So I had to use Apple Time Machine to restore the previous version of Encore (4.0.0.28), which works fine.
Another bug is that you can't change the title of a menu in Encore. Encore has a very limited number of HD menus. If you want to change the title of a menu from the generic one provided ("Our Travel Diaries", for example) to your own title ("Our 2009 Summer Vacation", for example), you can't do it in Encore. I have to export the menu to Photoshop Elements, change the text there, and re-import it into Encore. You can change the titles of buttons in Encore. But not the actual menu title. This is ridiculous.
Also, Encore isn't much good for burning Blu-Ray discs. I simply create a *.iso image file in Encore, then burn it using Roxio Toast 10 Titanium.
Anyway, with these various workarounds, I'm able to create high-quality Blu-Ray discs with movies and slideshows that look great on my 60-inch Sony SXRD TV.
I edit my HDV movies using Apple Final Cut Pro 5.1 (a couple of versions old, but it works), then use Compressor to export the movie as an HDV 1080i60 Quicktime file, which I import into Encore, which then encodes it using H.264.
One bug I encountered with my Sony Blu-Ray player is that when I installed the latest software update, it somehow set the player to downconvert 1080i and 1080p material to 480p. The results looked terrible, and I initially blamed Encore. However, I eventually discovered the problem and reset the player to output everything in 1080p. Now my home movies look great on Blu-Ray.
Anyway, Encore CS4 needs a lot of work. Unfortunately, Apple does not yet produce any software that can be used to author a Blu-Ray disc. When they do, I'll probably throw Encore and Premiere Pro in the trash. The only reason I bought Premiere Pro is because you need to buy it to get Encore, and Encore is currently the only affordable Blu-Ray authoring software for the Mac that works (or, more accurately, "sort of works"). Toast Titanium claims to have Blu-Ray authoring capability, but I've tried it and it's worthless as an authoring tool (though it works great as a burning tool).
Incidentally, I tried importing my Final Cut Pro HDV movie into Premiere Pro CS4 as an XML file, which is supposed to be the best way to get it into Encore, but this method caused all sorts of problems and I eventually had to abandon it.
It's a shame that somebody doesn't produce a simple suite of consumer-grade Mac-compatible tools that can be used for the entire HD workflow from camera to Blu-Ray disc, similar to the way in which iMovie, iPhoto, and iDVD work for standard-definition DVDs. -
Photoshop Elements 11 filter plug-ins
Hi,
I've seen in PSE documentation that it supports filter plug-ins (see http://helpx.adobe.com/pdf/photoshop-elements_reference.pdf page 57) but I can't find the documentation related to plug-in development anywhere. It's not part of Photoshop SDK, or if so, I must have missed it.
I already have a working Photoshop CS6 filter plug-in and I'd like to see how much work it would be to port it to PSE 11Hi 99jon,
I can't see any document related to plug-in development on Adobe Exchange's website. I found documentation on how to publish a plugin to Adobe Exchange, as well as how to use Exchange to install/try/buy plugins, but nothing about plug-in development.
Again, to be sure I've been clear, I've already developed a Photoshop CS6 filter plug-in, I'm just wondering what would be the cost to port it to Photoshop Elements, so I'm looking for a sort of equivalent of the Photoshop CS6 SDK with html/pdf documentation on how to write a PSE plugin.

I have tried 4 times to download and install ACR 5.7. Every time I get a message saying that it cannot install, QUIT. CS4, Mac OS 10.5.

Can't connect to ftp, app store or other servers
I am having trouble with my early 2009 24-inch iMac. Processor 3.06 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, Memory 8Gb 1067 Mhz DDR3, Storage 1Tb, OS X Yosemite 10.10 (14A389). I connect to the internet using PPPoE and a VDSL2 cable modem.
My problem is that my computer will not connect to many servers: the App store, my ftp servers, those required to register software such as Boom/2 and Opera, Firefox and Chrome browsers.
I am able to access email using mail and Safari, but that is all.
I have reinstalled OS X Yosemite 3 times and followed all the suggestions in the Apple "Cannot connect to the App Store" pages. I have checked my Network preferences carefully.

What can I do when I have downloaded RAW plugin 8.7.1 and it wont work on either PSE 12 or PSE 13????
Hi I asked a computer engineer to install RAW plug in 8.7.1. on PSE 12 for me, and he couldnt do it either. I have bought PSE 13 and followed the advise I was given - go to Edit - expert - Help - plugins - RAW - update- and IT WORKS !!! DW

Hello, I have been experiencing similar problems and followed the suggestion and yes, the raw icon comes up as illustrated but there is nothing there to indicate any further action can be taken. So I am presuming that means it is installed and no further action required?
Here's my problem: I have had no problems getting my pics into my organiser in Elements 12 from either my Nikon D7100 or my Fujifilm X100S - until last week. Suddenly when they are imported all I see is the timer icons but they don't open to let me view them. If I click on one it will open and I can then edit it but it will not save an image onto the grid for me to view so it's really frustrating not being able to view all my photos in order to decide what to edit and compare them.
Here's what action I've taken so far - restarted the computer (endlessly), checked the updates and installed them, checked I have the latest raw plug in (I do) and gone into edit/update thumbnail (doesn't do a thing) - and torn out a fair amount of my hair. So anyone out there experienced this and can give me some advice? Please?

Can't get all of my 3rd party plugins to show up in PSE 12
I just upgraded from PSE 10 to 12. I was able to get my NIK and my Topaz folders to show up under the filters menu, but not my Alien Skin (Bokeh 2) folder
You should always check with the developers for third party plugins to be sure they're compatible with new versions. Often they require updates to work properly.

PSE 6 with Raw 4.4.1 plugin, unrecognized file type
Mac OS X 10.5.2, Photoshop Elements 6. Downloaded / ran Camera_Raw_4_4_1.dmg and put Camera Raw.Plugin in root\lib\Application Support\Adobe\Plug-ins\CS3\File Formats\.<br />When I try and open a *.CR2 image, I get "... does not recognize this file type", but when I select <Photoshop Elements, About plug-in, Camera Raw...> it recognizes version 4.4.1. Same result using Bridge.<br />Within PSE, If I select <File, Open> with All Documents Enabled / Photoshop Raw Format, *.CR2 opens as a dot pattern. Camera Raw Format I get "... file-format module cannot parse the file".<br /><br />I'm lost. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?<br /><br />Thanks,
Good call, the file was toast. I'd used Image Capture (resident with OS) rather then the EOS Utility to download images. Using software that came with the camera everything works fine. Really appreciate your help.

Verwende Vista. Weiß jemand Rat?Depending on your camera, you may actually need to download and install the most RECENT version of Camera Raw which is version 5.6 (which should work with your version of Elements). Check the Camera Raw Product Page for more info.
