  • PDFs are blank in Acrobat X

I have Acrobat Pro X - when I go to open a PDF, it appears blank with no text. Images show up, and I can see that there is text in the document when i open through Preview, but when I ope in Acrobat, it's not there. I had unchecked "enhanced security," which worked for a while, but now I am back to opening PDFs that appear blank.

    Hi rs2studio,
If I understand correctly, this issue is occurring with multiple PDFs. Is that so?
Is it possible that the text those PDFs is image text (that is, the PDF was created from a scanned document)? If so, please choose Acrobat > Preferences (Mac OS) or File > Preferences (Windows), and make sure that Show Large Images is selected in the Page Display Preferences.
Please let us know how it goes. We can dig deeper, if need be.
    Best,
    Sara

  • Pdfs are blank

    Hi
I have a MacBook Air and use Safari, I think I was able to download and print pdfs before but now I cannot do it with some sites, I have looked at the answer to similar question & looked in Library/internet plug-ins but don't have the Adobe PDF plug-in, have these 5 items in there -
    nsIQTScriptablePlugin.xpt : QuickTime Plugin.plugin : Quartz%20Composer.webplugin/ : Silverlight.plugin/ : JavaAppletPlugin.plugin/
I had 2 Adobe icons in my application folder and as per the instructions on answer I read, I clicked both of these to unistall them, tried to download new version of Adobe but although it seems to download I can never find it to click and install it.
Any help with this would be appreciated because I have spent several hours trying to sort it myself and do not have much technical ability in this area.
    Thanks
    Chrissy

Thank you Carolyn, I had already managed to reinstall Adobe when I found the icon sitting underneath 'Devices' when I clicked on Finder - don't understand why it put it there but clicked it and it installed and now working ok - I had also shut down my mac completely before this happened as I always have it on - just sleeping when I shut it so maybe shutting it off helped ? I am not tech-savvy so I greatly appreciate people like you who help people like me !
When I looked in Library just now I saw Internet Plug-ins floder but not a 'disabled folder'  but since it is now working I will not worry about that.
    Thanks again
    Chrissy

  • Scanned PDFs are black

Recently I can't scan documents to be saved as PDFs. I have contracts that need to be saved as one document. What it does is create black pages! I can only save the pages individually as jpegs, which is not convenient. I redownloaded the drivers and that did not help. I have an iMac running OX 10.8.2. Pixma MX340
    thanks for any help

  • Acroread leaves defunct zombie procs & pdfs are blank

I am having an issue on a SuSE 11 sp1 box where opening a pdf after closing one gives me a blank screen.
a ps -ef | grep acro* shows [acroread]<defunct> for the acroread process that was running.
I noticed that I can open & close as many as 20 pdfs from a web page with no problem. Everytime I close one out I leave an additional acroread defunct process running. I can do this all day long.
If I close out one & go to a different web page to open a pdf, I get the blank screen and the ps -ef | grep acro* never shows a process starting.
This is becoming a critical issue here. The answer to just restart the browser every time is not gonna fly around here.
    SuSE 11 v.1
    Adobe Reader 9.4.2-1
    Firefox 3.5.19

This is not a mozilla bug, as far as I can see. It rather appears to be Adobe's fault.
Anyway, I had the same problem and, since I could not find a solution in the web, I wrote a small workaround program.

I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 plus I create PDF files for work some are scan pdf docs. When I install Photoshop Elements 10 it DOES convert all the PDF files to Photoshop Elements-10 Docs. it even changes and shows the PSE-10 Icon. So I am alway installing PSE-10 or uninstalling it. If I send the  PDF file that has been automatically converted to a PSE-10 the person I send the file to can not open it because they do not have PSE-10. What can I do to stop PSE-10 from converting my PDF files? Don't tell me to upgrade PSE-10 I tried their on-line program and  it is too advance for a hobby photographer like myself and their Help Desk is impossible to reach.

    Hi,
Can you please share the logs?
You can use the Adobe  Log Collector tool (Log Collector Tool) and share the corresponding zip file @ [email protected]

  • Scanned to PDF, but pages are blank

    Hardware
    - iMac 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    - Scanner Brother MFC-J6910DW
    Software
    - Mac OS X 10.7.2
    Using Preferences>Print & Scan>Open Scanner; settings:
    - Scan Mode: Document Feeder
    - Kind: Black & White
    - Resolution: 200dpi
    - Size: A4/A3
    - Duplex
    - Format: PDF
    - 'Combine into single document': checked
    - Image Correction: None
When I scan and combine around >100 pages. I open the file in both Preview and Adobe Acrobat Pro 8 and discover that most of the pages, except for about 20 at the end of the document, are white with a grey PDF logo box in the middle.
Have I lost all that I have just scanned or are they still there but not showing?
Are my settings to blame, and if so, what should I change to ensure this does not happen for future scans (i.e 300dpi or higher?).

    Just an update:
Forgot to say, I was saving the scans direct to a server.
I found that if I saved the scan to my computers desktop, I don't lose data no matter how large the file becomes.
I have a 1000+ document and all the pages are there with the above settings.
Also, my computer would request I update my brother software, automatically download, but never finish.
I was able to download the drivers manually here.
www.apple.com>support>downloads>(search 'brother'). Should be the first find.
However the direct link for the above is: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL894.
    Hope that helps

  • I installed the latest version of ibooks on my ipad. I have about 50 different collections of scanned pdf's. I can only view up to the letter M. Any idea where the rest went? These are client files. Help!!!

I installed the latest version of ibooks on my ipad. I have about 50 different collections of scanned pdf's. I can only view up to the letter M. Any idea where the rest went? These are client files. Help!!!

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.

  • PDF's are blank in Preview

I hope this is an appropriate place to post this question...
I have come across some PDF files that when opened in Preview are blank. The number of pages will be correct, but each page is blank. I can open these PDF's just fine using Adobe's Acrobat Reader, however I prefer to use Preview for its speed and simplicity. Does anyone have any idea why some PDF's are blank when opened using Preview? I want to note that one of the PDF's that I tried to open recently did not have anything special about (no forms, no extra JavaScript), it was just a plain old PDF. Any ideas?

A form has to be saved in Preview in order for it to be corrupted, not merely opened. What OS is used when opening a corrupted PDF in Reader/Acrobat doesn't matter.

  • PDF documents are blank but epub documents are not

    Hello All;
I have an install of ACS 4. Installed on the following.
    Linux version 2.6.28.1-xxxx-std-ipv4-32 ([email protected]) (gcc version 4.3.2 (Debian 4.3.2-1) ) #2 SMP Fri Jan 30 09:55:02 UTC 2009
I have a production license and I am able to fulfill books - both epub and PDF.
However, when I attempt to download/view the books in Adobe Digital Editions, the PDF files are blank. I should mention that the PDF files that are blank, are PDFs that I grabbed from public domain sites (archive.org). The epub documents that I grabbed from the same source, work find in Adobe Digital Editions.
I would also add that the sample books that are included with Adobe Content Server work just fine. So, I am to assume that there is something 'wrong' with the PDFs that I have.
Anyone see this before? Anyone know where I could look for answers?
    Thanks much.
    Glen

Digital Editions supports essentially the PDF/A profile (plus some extras see the FAQ at http://www.adobe.com/products/digitaleditions/faq/ for the full list).   The most commonly noticed thing that is missing compared to the current PDF 1.7 spec is JPEG2000 support.
What happens when you view these files in Digital Editions before your package them?

  • Automator application: Rtf's converted from pdf's do not open and word files from same rtf's are blank--???

I found directions for converting pdf's to word documents to facilitate editting.  The process used Automator by selecting
pdf's to be converted to rtf's.  The resulting rtf file could then be saved as a word document.  The problem is that the resulting
rtf's do not open and the saved word document opens blank.  What's the problem and the solution?

mns579 is correct, but it is even more complex than that. To put it bluntly, the only thing a PDF is guaranteed to do is print. There is no guarantee that any PDF will convert into any format other than an image (for printing). Some PDFs are composed of actual text or vector data and those are nice to work with, but not commonly encountered. In fact, pretty much the only time you are likely to have a PDF in a format that can be easily converted is when you have the document in some other original format from which you made the PDF. And, if you have said original format, why do you need PDF?

  • PDF converter and combine PDF pages are blank?

I signed in to Adobe and tried to use the PDF converter, but the page is blank.  The combine PDF page is blank also.  What happened?  I can see the other tabs, but these two are blank.  Need to know what is going on. Thanks.

Now it shows up after 30 minutes of trying.

  • PDF attachments are blank.

I have been composing and sending emails with pdf attachments for years through my gmail account with no problems...in the last few days, my customers are all complaining that the pdf files are blank.  All the pages send, but they have nothing on them.  I have been double checking before hitting send, and everything is fine.  I go to my sent items and the pdf's are indeed blank.  It is quite frustrating.

  • When I create a PDF from Excel, there are blank cells in Excel document, when they convert to PDF the blank cells have data in them?

There are cells in the excel document that have formula's in them.  The formulas are pulling data from other blank cells, so that is why they are blank in the formulated cells.  So in Excel, they are just a dash.  When I create the PDF, the document gets opened in Acrobat and the once blank cells have data in them.  Not sure why there is data in those fields on the PDF if its blank on Excel.

Not really sure that I fixed the problem, but I did find a work around and wanted to post it if someone else runs across the same issue. Apparently the document creator used lots of custom rules and shading. If I pulled up the custom rules and shading palette and just unchecked both the custom ruling and shading boxes, it allowed me to create the print file correctly--the disappearing part numbers were on the new PDF. I didn't have to update the whole book which I didn't want to do because I feared it would mess up the rules and shading. Just unchecking the box before creating the PDF solved that issue for my purposes.
