PSE 13: Disabling Crop Suggestions

In an attempt to disable Crop Suggestions in PSE 13 on my PC running Windows 7, I went to Edit/Preferences/General and unchecked the box labeled Enable Crop Preselection. This action did not disable crop suggestions. Is there something else I can do to disable Crop Suggestions. I find it annoying and would very much like to make it go away.

You're right, of course, but it'd surely be nice to get rid of the suggestions altogether. Oh, well, I reckon I'll live with it.

  • Crop Suggestions Crippling - Other suggestions do not resolve

I am also completely frustrated with this "feature".  I shoot sports action photos and it really slows down the process from previous versions.  I toggle between the Expert and Quick modes when I first start the editing process.  Many times I have to slightly rotate the picture to make the pic horizontal which can't be done from the Quick mode unfortunately.  With each slight rotation I have to wait for the crop suggestion images to load.  If I select a different crop orientation i.e. 4x6 vert or 4x6 hor I have to wait to that section to reload.  I have a new computer with an Intel 7 Gen 4 processor and 8GB of ram in a new $2k PC.  This is not a pc processing speed issue.
After a shooting a ball game or soccer game I typically edit 50-100 pictures and this dramatically slows down the process.  I have cropped thousands of pictures and don't want or need this needless feature.  I can't believe there isn't a way to disable this crippling "feature".
If anyone has found a way to shut this off, please reply.  If not, Adobe please correct this issue.

You can turn off automatic crop suggestions. See image below. Go to: Edit >> Preferences >> General (on Mac Photoshop Elements Editor >> Preferences >> General) then uncheck the option shown highlighted in red and click OK
The crop tool will work as in previous versions of PSE but you can still hover over the thumbnail suggestions in the tool options at the bottom

  • Photoshop Elements 13 offers pre-set crop suggestions. I would like to turn this feature off.

Cropping: PSE 13 offers pre-set crop suggestions. Is there a way to turn this feature off?

Unfortunately not. But if you don't move your mouse down into that part of the tool options they shouldn't trouble you. If you mean you don't like the grid, click the blank square at the left of the grid options:

  • Adobe PSE 8.0 - "crop scanned images"

    Hiho!
I've bought PSE 8.0 to rework allready scanned Tiffs. Each Tiff includes 3 - 5 (almost aligned) images. Now I found the menu item "crop scanned images" (or how its named; I've a german version). But when I select this menu item PSE begins to preform something wich results in a 1:1 copy of the original TIFF. I guess thats not the result I've to expect. I tested a few other TIFFs too but the result is always the same.
The Tiffs are really nothing special. White background with colored photos. Hm, do I have to preform some adjustments before to prepare this action? I'm really confused.

    luckshmi

The fact that your photo's are "almost aligned" may be what's causing the problem.
The Cropped Scanned Photos feature is designed to take a scan of multiple photos and separate them out into individual photos. If your photos are already well aligned, and seem to blend together, then the algorithm is likely having trouble picking them apart.
You may need to crop them out manually.
If you post one here, I'd be happy to take a look at it and offer some better (hopefully) advice.
    Cheers

  • PSE 6.0 Crop size and refine edge submenus not expanding

    Hi,
When I am in the full editor, I try to do a traditional crop and the aspect ratio menu won't drop down so I can't change to 4x6, use photo ratio, etc. Then sometimes it will just miraculously be working again. What am I doing wrong here? I must be locking it up somehow.
And I just discovered when I was using the quick selection tool, the refine edges submenu wouldn't drop down. This is driving me insane!
Any ideas as to what the problem is? Last time I had a problem similar to this, it was because I accidentally kept hitting the capitalize key which was causing me not to be able to see the full brush and just a little point. I tried that in this case and it's not working.
    Help! Thanks!

    Christina
I too have (both with PSE V6 and with PSE V7) from time to time the same problem with the "aspect ratio".
I do not know what the reason for the problem is. But I found long time ago in another Post of the Forum two different "workarounds".
The first workaround: when I am in the Editor and see that I can not change the "Aspect Ratio", I do the following within the Editor:
File--> New--> Blank File.... Then in the "New" Pop-Up Window I click on "OK".
The second workaround: when encountering the problem, I close the whole Editor and then start again the Editor.
The first workaround seems to me to be much less inconvenient than the second one.

  • Safari 4.0 - disable search suggestions

I'm trying to disable the Google search suggestions in the Safari 4.0 search box. I found (and tried) both of these terminal commands:
defaults write com.apple.Safari DebugSafari4IncludeGoogleSuggest -bool FALSE
    and
defaults write com.apple.Safari DebugSafari4IncludeGoogleSuggest -bool NO
I quit & restarted Safari after I tried each one and the search suggestions are still there. Any suggestions as to what I may (or may not be) doing correctly?

Tweaks developer just posted this update:

Looks like Apple removed the tab options, blue loading bar and some others.

  • Want to disable search suggestions on Wikipedia, other sites

Whenever I search Wikipedia for something (NOT using the search engine in the toolbar; I mean Wikipedia.org proper), if I type ANYTHING into the search bar, a drop down list of commonly-searched things beginning with that letter(s) appears. I wish to disable this "feature".

I don't think there is a universal solution for this. Each site names its form elements and runs its autocomplete/autosuggest scripts differently.
For example, Wikipedia sets up a datalist element and then attaches a script to the input box that updates the list every time you type a character. You can rip out the list and then the script will quietly fail and nothing gets displayed. You can try that by pressing Ctrl+Shift+k to open the web console, paste the following (long) line of script next to the caret (>), press Enter, then close the web console again.*
    var dl=document.getElementById("suggestions"); dl.parentNode.removeChild(dl);
But it can't easily be generalized to other sites that use different approaches...
''* If you leave the console open, you can see Wikipedia sending your input to the server for suggestions as you type, and the error when the script tries to update the missing datalist.''

  • Disable cropping in iphoto11

How do I disable autocropping in iphoto11?

These is no autocropping in any iPhoto including iPhoto '11
are you by chance trying to print a photo on a piece of paper that is too small to hold it (an 8x12 image on a 8x10 paper for example)?  In that case the natural laws indicate that it is impossible to print all of a larger photo on a small piece of paper - like trying to put 30 gallens of gas in a 20 gallon tank - simply can not be done
If this is your problem (and you actually tell us zero about it - this is just a wild guess) then you must crop as you want to the paper dimensions prior to printing or the portion that falls outside of the paper wil "print on nothing" and not be there - just  like the extra gas that does not fit in the tank runs over on the side of your car

  • How do I disable search suggestions in the Address Bar when I start to type?

As of the latest version, typing in the address bar suggests Google search terms in addition to suggestions from history. How can I change it to the previous mode of only suggesting from my history?
Additionally, this update seems to have removed the address bar autofilling the top suggestion as I type. How can I get this feature back as well?

  • How to disable app suggestions?

My devices keep offering it to me to download and install whenever I open the app store to do updates.
I do not want the apple beats app. I do not listen to music on my phone or ipad. The app would just take up space I could use for photos or other things. It wastes my storage space. These notices are really annoying. How do I tell the app store I do not want this silly app and to stop offering it to me?

  • Unable to disable spelling suggestions in Numbers

Very irritating problem. Despite the fact that I have Check spell as you type turned OFF and that Show suggestions when editing table cells is OFF every time I enter values a cell I'm getting a pop-up listing alternative "spellings" as in this example:
It's very distracting and irritating as it has absolutely no value to correct someones name in this way. Is this a bug or is there some setting/command I'm overlooking?
    Thanks.

    Hi psmythirl,
    to confirm:
    Finder>Preferences>Keyboard>Text>Crrect Spelling Automatically-  unchecked
    Numbers>Preferences>Editing>Show suggestions when editing....- unchecked
Those are the places I would check (or uncheck).
Have you quit the program? Trashed it and redownloaded? These would seem to be the next steps.

  • PSE 9 disables CD & DVD Drives

PSE 7.0 was working fine.  I installed PSE 9.0.  Now my DVD and CD drives are not usable.  The operating system, XP Home Edition, tells me the driver is installed but the devices cannot be found.  Other than removing PSE 9.0 and putting PSE 7.0 back on my computer, is there a solution?
