Bonjour,

  • Auto Rotate CR2 files

Is there anyway to set LR to AUTO rotate CR2 Raw files?
I can do it manually in the library but it's time consuming with large libraries.
    Thanks!

    Bill,
No, camera doesn't rotate image. Camera just set proper tag inside image file, which tells software on your PC, how image should be rotated on your PC.

  • Question: How can I save Elements 12 photos edited as other than PSE. I prefer JPEG. Also file forma

I have two problems with my new Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 editing program. I cannot seem to be able to save an edited photo as a JPEG. How can I do that. I only want to save as a PSE file in case I want to return to it later for further modifications.
My other problem is that my program locks up on me. I can only get out of the program by shutting down my computer and restarting.

    Jon,
That was my first thoughts too, but I have just done some tests and I don't think that is now the problem.
    My test was-
    1) Start with a CR2 RAW file and open it with 16 bits/channel
    2) Confirm that it is in 16 bit mode - layers not available etc.
    3) Save As and JPEG, JPG was an option and it converts it to 8 bit in the output file.
It seems that this has been the case since version 11 - perhaps you could try it to check that I'm not doing something wrong.
I think that Sureaddy's problem is that he is saving it first as a PSE file. After doing that, I can only save it as a PDF or a PSE file.
    Sureaddy
When first editing an image, I suggest you save it as a PSD (Photoshop file) not as a PSE (Photo Project File). If you are using layers, then you will be in 8 bit mode. Providing you don't save as a PSE file you should then have the option of saving it in JPEG/JPG format.
If you must use the PSE format, you could try using the Save for Web option - that can produce a JPG file.
As for your lock up problem, is there any pattern to when it locks up?

  • Why does Raw image open in PSE 11 Editor as jpeg instead of as RAW image?

For several years I have been managing my photos in iphoto and using PSE as an external editor for editing images. I currently use PSE 11 on an iMac with OS X Lion (version 10.7.5). My iPhoto Library is divided into a number of sub-libraries via iPhoto Library Manager. I have unexpectedly encountered a problem attempting to edit a RAW image (in this case a .NEF image from a Nikon D200) in a sub-library containing images shot in 2007. When I right click on the image and select Edit in External Editor the image opens in PSE 11 Editor, but it opens as a jpeg and not as an .NEF image. This is in spite of the fact that in iPhoto/Preferences/Advanced/RAW Photos I have checked "Use RAW when using external editor."
As an alternative approach I tried dragging and dropping the RAW image into the PSE 11 Editor icon in the Dock, but I got the same result.
I can't recall having this problem previously and would appreciate knowing what might be the source of the problem along with a suggested fix.

I took a clue from both of your responses. I exported a copy of the original RAW file to my desktop. Then I went to PSE Editor and clicked File/Open and selected the RAW file on the desktop. This automatically changed the Format setting to Camera Raw. I then clicked Open and lo and behold my RAW file opens in Camera Raw!
I’m now where I want to be to edit this image in Camera RAW, but I never before had to go around the horn like this to get there! This is very similar to the procedure I follow when I edit jpegs in Camera Raw.
I’m happy to report that this workaround did the job, but I have no idea why it was necessary in this instance. Hopefully this issue will be confined to this one particular iPhoto sub-library!

  • How can I turn a pse file into a jpeg

Today I created a pse file by the photo collage device. This is the only p file I have, and I would like to know if it is possible to convert this into a jpeg, and if so how? Thank you,

Thank you for that.  As I have
so many pictures in Orgainizer, I try to convert every file into a jpeg, as there is less
memory, it is quicker, and I can use them for emails creations etc.

  • PSE 11 won't open CR2 files from Canon PowerShot G15.

I was interested in PSE 11 so I could use ACR 7.x to open the raw (CR2) files from my new Canon PowerShot G15 camera--but even after updating the files, PSE 11 won't recognize my camera!  It's still not listed in the group of supported cameras on the Adobe website(s).  This camera has been out for a few months (at least!), so it's unbelievable that Adobe still won't support those files.  They only go through the G12, not up to G15.

  • PSE 7 RAW to JPEG

I seem to remember in the past I could convert pictures in the RAW format to the JPEG format using PSE 7.  Now all I can do is convert the RAW to a JPEG 2000 format.  I have XP.  Windows Media player won't open a JPEG 2000 file.  Any ideas why PSA 7 doesn't have a RAW to jpeg converte?

  • PSE wish list - Auto stacking RAW + JPGs

I'm using PSE V10 and have a 'wish list' item for suggested improvements to the program.
A feature that would be extremely valuable to many users would be the ability to auto stack photos where there are the RAW + JPG images present in the Catalog. The JPG would end up on top of the stack.
This can be done manually but is tedious when there are many photos to deal with. Failing an automatic feature a single action shortcut to access the 'Stack | Stack selected photos' command would be useful.
a forum discussion on this topic is here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4585792#4585792

As reported above I THOUGHT I'd found a shortcut suitable for stacking a JPG over a RAW.
However, the stack command in the main menu, which has the shortcut Ctrl+Alt+S will stack the RAW over the JPG whenever the RAW thumbnail is ahead of the JPG in the Catalog. I want the reverse to happen.
I found I can get the JPG to stack over a RAW, if the RAW appears before the JPG, by selecting the RAW first then with the Ctrl button down select the JPG. Then using 'Stack | Stack selected photos' in the mouse right click menu. However, this fails when using Ctrl+Alt+S whenever the RAW is listed before the JPG. Am I missing something?

  • PSE can't open Canon .CR2

    Hi,
I have recently bought Photoshop Elements 12. I have uninstalled PSE 9 and installed PSE 12 on my Windows 8.1 computer. But it crashes about 80% of the times when I open Canons .CR2 (raw) files from my Canon 550D. Any suggestions, or should I return PSE 12 and reinstall PSE 9 again (which worked fine)?
    BR, Andreas

You need to make sure you have the latest version of ACR which is version 5.6. Some of the Adobe links are not what they seem and lead to earlier versions. Use the download for PSE8; it will work with PSE7.

  • PSE 11 view of JPEGs edited in LR 5.4

I normally shoot RAW, convert to DNG on import, and edit. If I view photos in PSE11 edited as I have just described I see the "after editing" image, presumably a consequence of ticking a box in the Preferences to save metadata in the body. I have been given some JPEGs of a group day trip. The exposure is awful so I tweaked them a little in LR. If I view them in PSE I see the "before edit" version.
Now I know that hopping between LR & PSE is a bit odd (I like PSE's slideshow, it's faster & simpler than LR, plus one or two other non photo changing features are useful) but I would prefer, if possible, to see consistent behaviour. Is there an option I can tick somewhere that will show me the "after editing" version of a JPEG?
Just to be clear, in the examples above I am closing LR, then opening PSE. I am not opening PSE from within LR.
    Thanks,
    John

I'm going to make a guess here, as I haven't actually tried this in a long time...
PSE doesn't read the editing from Lightroom that is embedded in a JPG unelss you open the JPG in Adobe Camera Raw. If you simply do the normal operations on a JPG in PSE, it doesn't look for the Lightroom editing.
If that guess is correct, then I also think there is not any option to change this. Instead, you would have to Export the photo as a JPG in Lightroom to make this work.

  • How can I turn a pse file into a JPEG?

  • PSE 7 not auto downloading photos

I can't get the photo downloader to start automatically under Vista with PSE 7. When I go to autoplay options, the downloader is not one of those offered and I can't see how to add it.
The downloader works if I start it from within the organizers, but under Autoplay it won't let me choose it as one of the options, only Nero, Windows downloader and windows viewer.

Thanks for the confirmation about this incompatibility issue in Vista 64. It is a nuisance to have to manually download photos after getting spoiled by PSE's (32 bit) automated downloader. I did download the trial version of LightRoom (64 bit), and it's downloader is recognized in Vista 64. So it's just a 32 bit issue with PSE.
Otherwise, PSE 7 is fast and stable on Vista 64. Let's hope that Adobe sees the value in moving into the 64 bit age with all of their current software products, including PSE 7.

  • When will there be a plugin update for PSE 10 to read Canon cr2 files??

I bought PSE 10 and a Canon T4i, I am shooting in Raw format.
I have a Toshiba Laptop with Windows Vista
The Camera Raw Plugin is 6.7 in PSE10

Unfortunately for whatever reason adobe has not made the camera raw 7.1 plugin available to pse 10 users and adobe has never given a reason why.
I guess you could use the 7.1 DNG Converter to convert your files to dng copies which will then open in pse 10.

  • PSE 8, Vista 64 & missing auto-play downloader

I had hoped that Adobe would have fixed this incompatibility with 64 bit OS in version 8, but Vista 64 still does not list PSE 8 as an option in AutoPlay. PSE 8 (like it's predecessors) still installs under the Program Files (x86) folder, so I suppose we will still have to wait until Adobe invests in a 64 bit version of PSE before the auto downloader will be available for us (ever increasing) 64 bit users. Am I wrong?

You may have to wait a long time before Adobe produces a 64-bit version of the PSE Organizer (just my guess).
Here's a workaround:  Use the Windows Live Photo Gallery downloader, which is a quite capable downloader (Windows Live Photo Gallery is the updated version of Windows Photo Gallery, which is bundled with Vista -- download it for free).  Configure PSE File > Watch Folders to watch the folder heirarchy where you download new photos, so that newly download photos are automatically imported.

  • Saving converts JPEG to PSE

When I try to save JPEG images in PSE9 they are converted (after the final JPEG dialogue box) to PSE format.  Attempts to open the PSE image results in a "wrong format" message.  "Open as" allows me to reconvert the image to JPEG; is this normal and can it be fixed?  Also, layers are automatically flattened upon saving.  Can they be preserved for later work?

Ahh...HA!  Thank you for this wonderful insight. I think I've got it now!
