PSE 13 inability to validate serial number, thinks it's not connected to internet

I've installed Photoshop Element 13.1 (from  download) on Windows 7 Home premium 64 bit OS. I've entered the serial number to activate it, Every time I go into the software it keeps saying I need to validate the serial number, but doesn't let me validate it, it stating I'm not connected to the internet, yet it's capable of downloading its own updates! Problem occurs even if firewall is disabled.

First of all are you both  sure you have serial numbers and not redemption codes? Adobe does this weird thing where sometimes instead of a serial number you get a redemption code that you use to get a serial number:

  • Applications think I'm not connected to internet, yet I am

I'm going crazy here. I have been using Mac OSX for a few years with no problems. Yesterday, after using the httpmail plugin for 2 years to read my hotmail in Mail app, it stopped working. Today, while I am connected to the internet via an ethernet connection and able to read the web and ssh without any problems, I cannot use either Speed Download or Software Update. Both apps think that I am not connected to the internet. Can anybody tell me how I can be online, yet some applications think that I am not?
    Thanks, Tricia

Turned out I had a web proxy box ticked in the Network/Proxies settings. Not sure how this happened, but unticking it solved all problems.

  • ITunes thinks I'm not connected to internet. No internet radio, updates

I've used iTunes to listen to Wisconsin Public Radio for years. It recently quit working (on the iMac) but still works on the iTunes on the PC. If I got to "internet radio" list, it says I'm not connected to internet, check connections, etc.
Even if I try the iTunes "check for updates" it gives me the "not connected to internet, check connections" error. This has been going on for weeks. My internet connection works fine.
Am I the only person having this problem?

I've written to Apple about this major bug in iTunes several times, but they don't seem to be interested in fixing it or following up. Weeks after this started to happen, I'm still stuck launching itunes on a PC instead of my iMac.

  • PSE 7.0 Invalid Serial Number under Win 8.1

Moved from a Dell PC running Win XP SP3 to an HP with an 3.80 GHz AMD 6200 6 core processor, 10 Gb RAM running Win 8.1. Had installed PSE 7.0 four or five years ago on the Dell - it meets my limited needs and I don't really want to upgrade. I re-installed PSE 7.0 (from the Adobe download site) and registered the product on Adobe.com. However, the program refuses to accept the serial number, claiming it is "not valid." Tried Adobe chat and Manoj Kumar confirmed the serial number was valid. However, he then stated that PSE 7.0 is not supported on Win 8.1 and he is consequently unable to assist further. Since the program works fine other than for not accepting a valid serial number, I don't see that Win 8.1 is an issue. Any thoughts? Is it helpful to copy any applicable files from the old computer?

Having searched for similar issues with other PSE users, it is apparent Adobe does not intend to respond - none of the numerous questions on serial numbers have received a response. I found the answer to my question, but the solution will not help anyone who can't locate their original installation disks.
There is an apparent difference in the serial numbers that are issued on-line during product downloads and those that are printed on the box / disk sleeve. I managed to dig up the six year old install disk and initiated setup. The first pop up box requests a serial number and I entered my original number. The installation proceed without incident, other than requesting a file update which I obtained from Adobe downloads. The serial number which was rejected when downloading a copy of PSE 7.0 from Adobe works just fine in the identical disk based install.
And, a note in passing to "Manjo Kumar:" PSE 7.0 runs just fine under Win 8.1. Please stop using the excuse that Win 8.1 is not supported and give users the real answer: "If you download a copy, you need a downloaded serial number. If you originally installed from disk, you need to re-install from disk. A disk based serial number won't work on a download copy."
Short sighted attempt by Adobe to force users to purchase another copy of previously installed software.

  • Can't validate serial number?

I am in the process of moving from a PPC based server to an Intel based server. Both running unlimited versions of OS 10.4.8.
I saved the settings from the old server for each service by pulling the small icon just above the save button over to the desktop. Then I reloaded them into each service on the new server by dragging them into each window.
Within a few minutes, I get a message in the Server Admin > Settings window below the serial number fields that says:
"Invalid Serial Number: Could not validate serial number because of firewall."
I restarted the server and dissabled the firewall and everything works, but when I reactivate the firewall it happens again.
So, my question is, what rule in my firewall is keeping my serial number from being validated? And why would it work on my old server and not on the new one if the settings were brought over in the way I outlined above?
I have checked the new serial number on the Intel Mac and it is correct so I know it didnt get transfered from the old one.

I've done a clean install of the server and I didn't do any configuration other than the initial setup. The server works fine until I turn on the Firewall, then within a few minutes I get the same message again. When I restart the server it works for a few minutes and then happens again.
Rule 00001 does not appear at the top of the list in the firewall active rules on the Intel Mac Mini server.
When I switch back to my old PPC server running under a different serial number but the same IP address (by switching the Ethernet cable), everything is working as it always was and the rule 00001 is there as it should be.
Both the Mac Mini and the OS X 10.4 server are new and just out of their boxes.
This has me really frustrated. Anyone have any ideas?

  • I can't connetcting to internet when i want  validate seriale number

why i can't connetcting to internet when i want  validate seriale number ?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Elements 13 will not go on line to validate serial number

Can any one tell me how to validate Elements 13? It will not see my internet. Adobe will not help me,and chat line does not work. Now I have a $89.00 program that  I can not use thanks Adobe. Some Please help!!

In your initial post, you wrote that the Chat line does not work. What exactly happens when you attempt to use it?
I suppose you have already tried this, but if you have a second computer, have you tried to install it from there?
Another dumb question - are you absolutely sure you are using the Windows CD and not the one for a Mac? --- You wrote:  "To me it acts like there is something on the CD is missing."
You never said, exactly what the problem was during installation. What was the message/result of each step you took?

SIgn in with your Apple ID, the same one you used to access this support forum.
Hopefully, you will see a list of all the devices you registered with your Apple ID, including their serial numbers. Let me know how this works out.
Edit to add: If you enabled "find my imac" on your Pro, you ought to be able to remotely lock it, or even wipe its memory. Click http://www.icloud.com/ sign in with your Apple ID and click the big green "find my iPhone" icon (nevermind the name, it will find all your devices provided they're running Lion or iOS 5).
Then file a police report and nail the b*****d.

CS3 is unsupported under Windows 8. That said, you'll need to contact Adobe
    directly for serial number issues.

  • Adobe acrobat pro 9 keeps telling me "the serial number I entered is not valid"

I recently had my macbook pro logic board fail and had to purchase a new macbook pro (expensive reinvestment after only 3 years but that's another story).
Anyway, all of my cs4 upsell products loaded just fine, except adobe acrobat pro 9 keeps telling me "the serial number I entered is not valid." After contacting adobe thru chat several times, here is the info I got back: my serial number IS valid, I still can activate 3 more times (deactivation was not an issue in this case), the final answer was  the cs1 server (my previous version before cs4) is no longer available which basically renders my version of acrobat unusable. Is that really the case? Now that I have a new computer I can't use that software any longer it was working fine on my old laptop? Why did all the other software load okay? Did I miss something or is buying another upgrade neccessary?
ps: using Macbook Pro with MacOS X.8.5

Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Dreamweaver are all working just fine. I haven't needed any other apps yet since the reinstall. Install actually worked fine too for Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.0 but when I try to open anything in it I get the Software Setup Screen and it wants me to enter the serial number for the product, when I do it says the serial number is invalid. I included a screen shot below with the serial number removed so you can see. In chatting with adobe, my rep said it is a valid number (obviously since it worked fine on my other apps), but the server for CS1 is no longer available and since I have an upsell from CS1 they cannot offer me support and to take my question to the forum board, so here I am.
