PSE 4 Use Filenames as Captions in Slide Show

Most of my files have meaningful filenames. However when I want to make a slide show I can't figure out how to get the filenames to display as captions so people know whats going on. Is there a way of copying the filenames to the captions field. I would hate to have to copy and paste each one.

Justin, I am having the same problem as you. I will look into what Cyclosaurus is saying to do, but it is probably a bit complicated for my brain. One thing you can do without any coding, is to space down your captions 3 or 4 times on the page where the full size version of your picture is. Then, your captions will not have a line through them when viewing in the slideshow mode that includes the thumbnails. Also, the full truncated captions will not appear in the true slideshow. I have the first line showing and then I spaced all the rest of the description down. PSE 8, No audio when creating a slide show

I am unable to create a slide show with audio. All other functions in the slide show function properly but unable to get the audio portion to play. Receive error message "Unable to add audio file, the selected file cannot be played because your system does not have the required compressor/decompressor (CODEC) installed." Checked and all the Vista CODEC's are installed & functioning properly. Checked and downloaded the latest CODEC from Realtek for the audio board. No audio recognized within Organizer or from file folders. Went to Adobe Tech. and got brushed off. Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

1. I have Windows Media Player 11. It plays my music files which are mostly .MP3 I am unable to locate the Adobe music files using Windows Explorer. May be an indication that they didn't load when the program was installed. I have uninstalled and re-installed PSE 8. from my disc's.
2. I Tunes is my primary player.
3. OS is Vista Home premium
After running around in circles for several days I have tried the following:
1. I opened PRE8 and created a slide show and imported audio file from my music folder. Played OK. Slide show performed OK. I did not locate the included music folder with program.

Note that it is searching in PSE6 for the file. I missed that before. I long ago uninstalled PSE6 and PSE 7 was installed in its place and since PSE8.
Now I am suspicious that the music files never loaded with the install of PSE8 and it is searching for music files that no longer exist. Not sure what is corrupted and not sure what else to try. I think I will reload PSE7 and see if I can locate the included audio files and attempt to load a slide show with PSE7.

Hello, when a slide show with PSE (slideshow) in the 16:9 format is created, then the zoom can not be used. After transmission to the PRE proposed format is not mandatory. The TV then displays a border around the Image.
Again, a 16:9 aspect ratio in the tool slideshow in PSE with zoom 16:9 would be a very large value for PSE+PRE! Then I would not have to use a competing product.

Can I use movie trailers with a slide show

I want to create a slide show of images and movie clips and I would like to use a movie trailer in conjuction with it---Is that possible?

Mackerel, meet MSM. MSM, meet Mackerel. You two are peas in a pod, at least with respect to your slide show plans and needs.
What you both want to do is exactly what presentation programs like PowerPoint and Keynote are made for. You could also do a version of it in Adobe Acrobat, and you could even cobble up some sort of horrible kludgy substitute in Word or any other word processor that can hold photographs (though the resulting document would be so enormous it might handle at truly glacial speed).
What you can't do in any of these programs, or in any other that I know of, is automate the placement of a text block that's associated with each picture. That you'd have to do manually. So if you don't like work, you'll either have to find another application that does the job without you, or hand your text out in printed form.

Can you use multiple songs for a slide show in iphoto ios 2.0?

I want to prepare a 10 minute slide show that uses more than one song. It seems you can use a playlist using iphoto for mac (and I have seen that in other discussion threads) but what about iphoto for IOS on an ipad? It seems to let me only use one song. I am on IOS7 and using the lastest iphoto for ipad (v 2.0)Any suggestions out there? Thanks

You are welcome. Have a look at the GarageBand Help to get started.
Basically you need to
Create a new project - select an empty project template.
Open the Media Browser and drag the songs from your iTunes playlist into the track area.
Use the "Share" menu to send your new sound track to iTunes.
This screenshot is from GarageBand 10.0, but in GarageBand '11 it would be similar.
Just in case that you want to add some sound effects to the soundtrack, like rain or thunder, you will find the clips in the Loop Browser:

Help with using parallels while burning a slide show..

I have pro show gold for making wedding slide shows.. I like the program and it only runs under windows. I am able to run the program using parallels and everything looks good, does the whole thing, burns the dvd etc. except when I go to run the dvd on the tv it does not recognize it.. What is missing, all the data is burned except some portion..
Since it's running in emulation mode I wonder if I should try making a boot camp partition. I have been avoiding that since I don't want to take up more HD space but I guess I might have to.
I still have my PC which I have been using to run the program.. I called photodex about it and they said they can't help me since it's made to run on windows. I just can't figure out why there should be a problem.

Problem using itunes music in iphoto slide show

When creating a slide show with iPhoto, I cannot use my iTunes music anymore. I can see the list in the music window settings but there is no way to get access to it, either by directly double clicking on the title or by creating a dedicated playlist to the slide show.
Thisproblem seems to have happen after one of the updates of either OSX, iphoto or itunes as I have been using that feature previously and it did work well.
Anybody facing the same problem?

Can you see your iTunes library in other aoolications, for example in Mail, when you try to send an audio attachment?
I the iTunes library is missing in all applications from the Media Browser, try to reorganize the iTunes Library in iTunes
Main menu bar: File -> Library -> Organise Library -> Reorganise Library
Quit iTunes and relaunch it.
Quit iPhoto and relaunch it.

This is a very basic question. If you create a slide show on iphoto, can you use it with a projector, and if so, is it just a case of connecting the projector to the computer?

Using iPod to present Keynote slide show to a projector

I would like to use my new iPod Touch to present Keynote slide shows using a digital projector. If I could do this I wouldn't have to carry my laptop everywhere. Is this possible and if so how would I do it? What output cables would be required?

This is a really great idea. I don't know that you can maintain the pauses that a keynote presentation has, though, because Quicktime generally doesn't have a click-and-go functionality (i.e., pause on this frame indefinitely, wait for input, continue) without scripting.

Beyond adding your images and animating them...no. But not
sure what you are referring to

timeline - you certainly need the timeline to
animate something over time. Flash will loop by default
unless told to stop.

"good" is relative - depends on your needs - 1 frame rate may
be good for some projects and very bad
for others - depends on how heavy the animation is.

Use MBP to drive projector slide show / are special connectors needed?

Hi all,
Need to run a picture slide show this weekend at a banquet hall for a friends reception. The people at the hall tell me "No Problem" we have all the connectors etc. to run from a computer.
Worried that when I get there (too far to travel ahead of time) I might encounter problems.
I have the dvi to vga connector that came with MBP. Was planning to just run a slide show from iPhoto.
Anybody know if these projectors would typically run with this connector hook-up?
Any tips or advice greatly appreciated.

They should. Most projectors use VGA so if you have the proper adaptor for the computer then you can connect a standard VGA cable from the adaptor to the projector. But if you want to avoid any last minute surprises I would go look at the projector and cables that will be supplied at the presentation. Take your computer with you so you can test it out to be sure everything will work properly.

Image Captions in Slide Show

Is there a way to capture the metadata title and use that as the image caption?
Failing that, is there a way to alter the image caption without changing the file name?
Finally, is there a way to delete the stars that sometimes appear under the image in Bridge?

Thumbnail pics used to go to a slide show..now they won't.I haven't changed anything,so what do I do?

I have a website that sends me thumbnail pics..I used to be able to use a slideshow to view them,but I don't get that option now.I have to download each pic,which takes far to long..I use my hotmail account to view them,but I haven't changed any settings there.And I use Firefox to access my hotmail account since I enjoy using Firefox more than Windows Explorer

I am assuming that you are using a Mini Display to HDMI converter and then a HDMI cable.
Have you opened System Preferences>Displays and selected Detect Displays?

Why doesn't a saved slide show in PSE-6.0 show in Organizer?

Two questions:
1-I've created a few slide shows in Photoshop Elements 6.0 (running Windows Vista-64) and until recently have been able to find and reopen/edit them in Organizer. For some reason none are showing at top of Organizer, even though I can find the file in folder Adobe:/PhotoshopElements/Catalogs/CIB Catalog/Projects. I've even reinstalled PSE6.0 and still won't show newly created slide show projects. Any ideas of what I need to do to be able to create, save and then go back to work on a slide show? My goal is to create a slide show to copy to a DVD for viewing on a TV and don't want to try and do this all in one session.
2-Why are the photos not linked to the correct folder when I try to open and edit it, even after I've just reinstalled PSE-6.0? I don't want to go thru the Browse option to relink up the thumbnail to the original photo.

For the slidehshow thumbnail --
I have always been able to find my slideshow thumbnail in the Thumbnail view as long as I had the Media Types to display set to include projects/creations. I would not expect to find the slideshow thumbnail using Folder Location and definitely not using Import Batch (because a slide show is not part of an import batch) . You did not post your current setting for Media Types, so I suggest that you investigate its setting.
However, your problem with the photos showing on the Z drive is probably more serious
One odd thing I've just noticed is that all files in PSE-6 show the
files being on the "Z" drive, but they are on the "C" drive in Windows
Explorer. I am using a cloud based storage service (Trend Micro's
SaveSync) and it designates the "Z" drive as the cloud drive, so this is
odd.
My second question is related to all my photos, not
just ones I've tried to organize into a Slide Show Project. I've tried
different photos in many different folders and all of them show the same
message of "Searching for Missing File". Since I just reloaded PSE-6
I'm very surprised by this error.
If by "reloaded" you mean reinstalled, then the relevant fact is that the reinstall does not modify the Elements Catalog (which is where those pointers to the photo file location on the Z drive reside). So a reinstall of the PSE software would not have an effect here.
Unfortunately, I can not predict or even guess how the Trend Micro SaveSync works and what it would do that would make the PSE Organizer think it should look on the Z drive to find your photo files. The Search for Missing File is most probably caused by that Z drive reference.
All I can suggest is
-- look in the Organizer Preferences for a preference about reconnecting files automatically and set that preference to NOT reconnect automatically so that you have better control of when and how the info about photo file locatin that is stored in the elements catalog is modified .
-- then use the thumbnail view within the Organizer and right click on the thumbnail for one photo and then choose the Reconnect of a single photo
-- can you reconnect that single photo successfully and have it show the C drive as its location ?
-- if yes try a few more photos
-- if you can reconnect several photos, then I suggest that you read the following for a suggestion on how to reconnect many photo files
