PSE 5 - Which Camera Raw Do I need

I have been searching the Adobe site and several forums with no luck. I have a Canon EOS 50D and PSE 5.0. Does anyone know whick Camera Raw version works with this combo?

PSE 6.0 Mac - Apple Power Mac G5, - Which Camera RAW?

I have a Apple Power Mac G5. Uses Power PC Processor. Not Intel. Also have PSE 6.0 for Mac installed.
So which Camera RAW do I load with this setup? Tried to load Camera RAW 5.6 to no avail.

ACR 5.6 is compatible with PSE6.
You can install the update manually.
1. Exit Photoshop Elements and Adobe Bridge
2. Open the download file and double-click CameraProfiles.dmg and follow the on-screen instructions.
3. Navigate to the root of the local disk (not the user's home folder).
4. Navigate to: (Please read directory carefully)
Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS3/File Formats
5. Move the existing plug-in to another location (for example, a new folder on your desktop). Ensure you keep this version in case you need to revert back.
6. Copy the Camera Raw plug-in, Camera Raw, from the download into the same folder as in Step 4.
7. Launch Photoshop Elements or Adobe Bridge.

I get his error when trying to install the latest patch: "Adobe Application Manager is needed to resolve this problem, however it is missing or damaged. Download a new copy of Adobe Application Manager or install this product again."

If the camera is newer than the last version of Camera Raw that was released for an older version of Photoshop, you won't be able to get direct, convenient "open file" support for the raw files.

Just glancing at those links, Photoshop CS4 can update to only as far as Camera Raw 5.7. Unfortunately, the minimum required version to work with your T3i is Camera Raw 6.4.
Your fallback position will be to either convert your raw files to DNG format with the latest free DNG converter release, or get a newer version of Photoshop. The later has an advantage in that there have been substantial improvements to Camera Raw in recent releases.

Converting to DNG - which Camera Raw compatiabilty and why?

When converting camera Raw files in Lightroom 2.5, a dialog box asks which Camera Raw/Photoshop version I want to make DNG file compatible with. (See my screengrab below) I understand why Adobe made different vesions of Camera Raw and stopped supporting older versions (so users would buy the upgrades of Photoshop and Lightroom). The question I ask.. Does a DNG file created to be compatible with Camera Raw 5.4 have superior qualities/algorithms/technical mumbo jumbo/ finese /or what not over a DNG file created to be compatible with Camera Raw 2.4 and later?
Seems sort of silly to not use the 2.4 setting if 5.4 has no advantage (other than keeping older versions of Photoshop and Lightroom from opening it ).
What is the scoop?

Camera Raw does evolve over time. There are changes to the rendering algorithms. Additionally, new camera support is added with each new iteration of Camera Raw. The older versions are offered so that if you are still using older versions of Camera Raw and Photoshop you can generate compatible DNG files.
If you are using current versions then I suggest you choose the most current version in the dialog box. If you are still working under ACR 4.6 then choose that. It's there so you aren't "forced" to buy upgrades to PS and LR.

Which Camera Raw functions are in Photoshop Elements?

At times I'll suggest something to do in ACR in conversations with other photographers. Sometimes I get a response that they can't find what I referred to in ACR. Usually turns out they are using Elements (PSE), which has a subset of ACR function. I've been looking for a list of ACR functions in PSE -- searching Adobe forums and products so far without success. I have tried to assemble such a list from what I have in ACR 6.3 and by reading the Adobe PSE9 help files (I don't have PSE). Here's what I've assembled. Anyone have any corrections or additions? Adjustment tabs that are not in PSE: Tone curves, HSL Grayscale, Split toning, Lens corrections, Effects (Grain, Post-crop vignetting), Presets, Snapshots

Camera Raw in PSE11 does not support Nikon D610 NEF; all software updates done accomplished - which Camera Raw version to download and where to find?

Just bought a new camera (Nikon D610) and found out that Camera Raw in Photoshop Elements 11 does not support the RAW (NEF) files. Works fine with the Nikon D5200. PSE11 states that it's up to date. Support documents on Adope Website do not help at all. Some say the D610 is supported other say it's not. If I have to update Camera Raw, which version do I have to use for PSE11? Where can I find the download file?
I find it somehow strange, that it's not possible to contact the support in a common way, but have to use this Adobe Community. Anyway, if it works... :-)
Would be great, if someone could give me a hint, how to solve the problem.

Just got the new PSE12 and found out that Camera Raw 8.4 plug in can not be installed, if the system runs on Vista!
So I got a new Nikon camera, new software (which can not be send back) and it looks like that I will need new system software and probably a new PC... :-(

PSE 11 and Camera RAW ORF files DNG doesn't work

Please help, I am using an iMac running OSX 10.9.2 and PSE 11. I have been keenly improving my skills and have been very happy whilst using my Canon G15 shooting in RAW only. I have recently bought an Olympus OMD E-M1 and cannot get PSE to see the ORF files. I have downloaded the latest DNG converter 7.3.071 and all looks fine until I come to convert a folder. DNG says it can find no compatible files. I have followed the instructions I have found on various boards, but to no avail.
Any help would be appreciated.

You need camera raw 8.3 for your Olymbus camera.

Which camera raw update do I download using a Canon SL1 and PE11?

I've looked at the camera raw update list and it tells me for my camera (Canon SL1) the minimun raw plugin I need is 7.4 It then says that PE11 came with version 7.1 and with my camera it's compatible with camera raw plug-in through version 8.0. When I go to the list of plug-ins to download, I'm still not sure which one I'm suppose to download. In short, I just want to be able to read my CR2 files from my Canon SL1 in PE 11. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi,
In the editor, go to Help -> Updates and it should download and apply ACR 7.4 which is the one you need.
To check which version you have, in the editor, go to Help -> About plug-in -> Camera RAW (click on the splash screen to get rid of it).

Hello I really need your help and I want to thank you in advance for your time!! I need performance tips and tricks for Camera raw 6.6 and Bridge CS5? I have Intel i7 920, with 16GB of RAM which I thought is powerful enough to make developing in Camera RAW smooth as butter but I am not getting that performance. When I slide the settings, it has a delay for the preview and it gets worse if I apply a vignette. I usually open the camera raw file to photoshop and sometimes it does take a considerable amount of time to load. Working on photoshop is great, quick as expected, but Camera RAW makes me cringe.
What tips and tricks would you suggest for performance boost? The best case scenario is to have the preview reflects the changes of the slider without delay. Is this possible?

I found an adobe link on how to optimize lightroom and followed some tips there that are applicable to bridge. The notable setting I tweaked was to change my cache directory to my RAID 0 drive, and increased cached size to the maximum setting. The difference is night and day, and I am extremely happy now. The only thing that still bugs me a little is that there is still a slight delay cropping when the vignette is not set to 0 . I can understand that's a little extreme though and I usually add the vignette at the end anyways.

After making the tweaks, I was able to slide the settings with instant previews even with Noise Reduction (luminance) set to zero.

PSE Nikon D7000 & Camera Raw

Finally got PSE to open my NEF files. Worked fine first time, now everythime I adjust in the carenra Raw screen, then go to "open image" - instead of opening it for editing, it saves to the desktop as a XMP file- What is this??? must say, has put me off PS ( I am in the trial version) ??may go back to Aperture

Quit PSE then go to your username>library>preferences and delete:
com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist

Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 settings
anything that begins Adobe Camera Raw Preferences.
Repair permissions and try again. That library folder is hidden if you are using 10.7. To see it there, option click the Go menu in the Finder.

Camera RAW plug in needed.

I have PSE6 installed on my MacBook Pro - OSX 10.6.8 (SnowLeopard) - and I now have a Fujifilm HS20 EXR, but I cannot use the RAW mode as PSE6 doesn't recognise my RAW files.

Unfortunately, you don't. PSE 10 can't use any version of ACR 7. You can either use the software that came with the camera, upgrade to PSE 11 (bad move this time of year, usually), or download the free adobe DNG converter to convert your raw files to dng files that your version of ACR can read.

If your camera is already supported by ACR, you don't really need the DNG converter. If you prefer to convert to DNGs or your camera is not supported, then you probably should download the latest version of the converter.

PSE Not showing camera raw update 8.8

My PSE13 is saying that camera raw is up to date at 8.7 but it will still not read my NEF Files.. I saw camera raw 8.8 is available but my PSE is not showing an update available so how do I manually update my Camera Raw?

Perhaps that is your experience, MBP, at a particular point in time and/or on a particular platform for version of PSE13, but for me on Windows 7 and Windows 8, with PSE 13.1 & ACR 8.7.1 installed, there still is no update found when checking from Help / Updates in the PSE 13 Editor. I have also downloaded and installed the Camera RAW 8.8 installer from the Adobe HelpX page, and that installer installs ACR 8.8 for PS-CS6 and PS-CC but no PSE13--I have all three on my system. I can manually copy the plug-in from the PS folder to the PSE folder but that's not something the updater is doing on its own.
For someone who has some computer savvy, and is running Windows, at least, you can download the ACR 8.8 installer EXE, rename it to have a .zip extension, open it with 7zip (not Windows native compressed folder handling, or WinRAR) and unzip the contents to somewhere, then look for the Camera Raw.8bi file, and copy that over the top of the PSE13 file of the same name. There are two Camera Raw.8bi files. The one under $SHELL[70] is the same size as in my PS-CC so I assume that is the 64-bit one. There is another one under $MUSIC that is slightly smaller so maybe that is the 32-bit one but the folder structure also says CC so I'm not sure.

Which Camera Raw Plugin will support the Sony A77ii?

Hi all,
I have never tried being in a forum before so bear with me. I just bought a Sony 77ii, and just shot RAW files. to my horror I think the plug in I am using for RAW processing is not recognizing my files. I am running Photoshop CS5. Is there a plugin that will support my camera or will I need to upgrade to CS 6 for even a newer plugin?
