PSE 6.0 Mac - Apple Power Mac G5, - Which Camera RAW?

I have a Apple Power Mac G5. Uses Power PC Processor. Not Intel. Also have PSE 6.0 for Mac installed.
So which Camera RAW do I load with this setup? Tried to load Camera RAW 5.6 to no avail.
Thanks
Bob  AZ

ACR 5.6 is compatible with PSE6.
You can install the update manually.
1. Exit Photoshop Elements and Adobe Bridge
2. Open the download file and double-click CameraProfiles.dmg and follow the on-screen instructions.
3. Navigate to the root of the local disk (not the user's home folder).
4. Navigate to: (Please read directory carefully)
Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS3/File Formats
5. Move the existing plug-in to another location (for example, a new folder on your desktop). Ensure you keep this version in case you need to revert back.
6. Copy the Camera Raw plug-in, Camera Raw, from the download into the same folder as in Step 4.
7. Launch Photoshop Elements or Adobe Bridge.

Please check out the following Apple Support article to see if your particular Power Mac model supports an external Wi-Fi antenna.

  • Apple Power Mac G4 speakers - connecting to Airport Express?

    Hi.
Is it possible to connect the old Apple Power Mac G4 speakers (ie. those displayed at http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300153379805&fromMakeTrack= true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:middle:uk) to my Airport Express?
That is, do the two devices have compatible jack and jack socket?
    Thanks

Simply converting the mechanical connection isn't enough.
There used to be a device called an iFire which allowed you to use those speakers with any computer that had FireWire. That device has been discontinued for a very long time. Anyway it wouldn't allow you to connect the speakers to an AX.
You need powered speakers to use with the AX.

  • Arch Linux on Apple Power Mac G5?

I see that there is a Arch64 group trying to bring Arch to the PPC architecture. It is difficult to determine if this effort is just starting, or perhaps has resulted in a running PPC version.
To the point, does anyone have Arch running on an Apple Power Mac G5?

mac57 wrote:Yup, I have mixed up the two groups, but the Power Mac G5 *is* 64 bit - that is the source of the confusion. I am hearing that we don't have any Power Mac G5 Arch though, which is too bad!
a G5 is still a powerpc so archppc could run on it but i am not quite sure about wether archppc is ready for it out of the box.

  • HT1939 how come my apple power mac g5 turns its self off when i try opening a page

can you help my apple power mac g5 desktop is truning its self off when ever i try openning a page.or going online.it had recently been updated with os x 10.5.8

    Hello,
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

Which version of mac os x do you have?
Which version of photoshop are you using?
Do you get any message when you try to open the files into photoshop?
Did you use Nikon Transfer to get the files from your camera to computer?
Did you try the File>Get Photos From Camera in Adobe Bridge?

  • Apple power mac g3 upgrade

I have a power mac g3 blue and white and I was wondering if I can upgrade the ram more than 1gb and upgrade the hard drive to more than 128gb. Basically upgrade the whole unit. Thanks

consider using an external FW drive, it will be about as fast as a your current internal drive, then you can use it to copy files to another computer later.  The only size restriction you have to worry about is that for booting OS9 you must use a partition less than 200GB, if your external FW drive is larger, then you can partition it.  This is not an issue for booting OS X.
    http://eshop.macsales.com/search/FW400
Not sure the "value" of the G3 is worth the "investment" of any "upgrades" in the current vintage-used-computer market, although it can be a fun hobby if you are so inclined.
the older (discontinued?) ATA133 PCI cards would work
    http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=PCI+ATA133+Mac+ACARD+6280M&_sacat=0&_odkw=PC I+ATA133+Mac&_osacat=0&_armrs=1
with the older legacy (parallel) PATA drives
    http://eshop.macsales.com/search/3.5+Internal+IDE/ATA
otherwise, for more $, you could go for a current technology PCI SATA card and SATA drive, you won't see the full speed benefit of this technology with the G3's motherboard speed.

  • Mini mac or power mac G4?

Typical stuff, I'm trying to pick a new desktop.
I have two computers already: mac clone and G3 powerbook (which needs minor repairs).
I really do think the mac mini will be able to handle everything I do but since I tend to hang on to my computers a while I 've been going back and forth between them. Afterall it looks like the mini mac is a bit of a dead end product with no future potential of being expanded. On the other hand, I have done very little upgrading so maybe this will be just fine.
Stuff I do and want to do
    - must have Mac osX for my camera
    -drawing/editing with photoshop
    -making webpages
    -download anime
    - play RP games
-run scanner and printer at the time without having to swap computers.
    - to avoid the frequent crawling behind a desk and pushing it out because theres' too few plugs for too many devices.
The printer, scanner, mouse, keybaord and camera all need the same plugs,Nether the scanner or camera even run with the desktop so they sit unused taunting me.
I can see this being a problem with the mini mac as theres' no extra plugs to run things beyond keyboard and mouse.
-Fix up my lappy up later on and put in some kind of network so I don't have to crawl behind desk for unplugging internet.

You hit on the one issue that marks the boundary of choice between buying an older G4 tower or a new Mac mini - the question of upgradability and flexibility. In a real sense the G4 tower has greater potential since not only can it be upgraded pretty easily to the point where it outperforms the mini, but with the right system and the right choice of parts, can do so at less cost than a mini. However, as much as it is theorectically possible, I'd bet that the majority of users don't do much to their G4 towers than add RAM, and the real disadvantage of taking that route if upgradability is not a crucial importance is that you would be adding in to an old Mac with no warranty and potentially shorter remaining lifespan.
In truth, much of what you can achieve with an old G4 and a bag full of upgrades can be done with a mini anyway. 1Gb RAM and an external high speed drive will give you pretty much optimal performance, capable of extensive and demanding use. Add an external, powered, USB hub and you have pretty much all the connectivity you are likely to need.
It's really only if you need the ability to run multiple monitors, have 2 or 3 internal hard drives, more than 1Gb RAM or have specialist expansion card needs (ie, Firewire 800, SCSI etc) that a G4 tower with upgrades would really make sense.

  • Photoshop CS6 Mac version not noticing the updated Camera RAW

I am trying to download the newest camera RAW DNG converter 8.6 plug-in on Photoshop CS 6 on a Mac computer.  I have photoshop searching in the correct folder under Photoshop>Preferences>Plug-ins..., and yet when I search for the latest version that photoshop is using in, Photoshop>about Plug-ins> Camera Raw, it only displays the original version, not the updated version. this happened with prior Camera RAW versions as well.  how do I get photoshop to see the updated plug-in?

Go to Photoshop's Help Menu > Update
Let the Adobe Application Manager download and install the plugin for you.
Stolen from another thread, but here's where the Camera Raw plugin is installed.

    Bruce,
When I made the transition to digital some 8 years ago, I had tremendous help from a number of well documented websites, among which:
    http://www.luminous-landscape.com
I think a lot of stuff there to get you seriously going. Another one is:
    http://www.computer-darkroom.com
I sold all my film based stuff, except a Nikon F3 and a handful of lenses and a Paterson developing tank.
The Nikon suspiciously smells like foam mirror damping strips chemically decaying.
I sold my enlarger over the internet. The word "enlarger" caused me to be on SpamCops blacklist for a while.
I'm in this since the seventies, and I think you'll be as amazed as I was at the possibilities and control you have. And no more bags with $300 worth of film that's consumed in one shoot.
Jump in both feet! you won't be sorry. And these forums are the best help you can get.
    Good luck,
    Rob

  • Does PSE 10 support and is it compatible with Adobe Camera Raw Process 2012?

I recently upgraded to Photoshop CS6 but am still using Photoshop Elements 8 Organizer to manage my collection.  It appears that the new Process 2012 that is available with the Camera Raw processor is not supported by PSE 8 and in fact PSE 8 changes (as best it can) the adjustments back to Process 2010 if I add a caption to a photo in the Organizer.  This also happens if I write properties and tags to to the image file.  Does PSE 10 support Process 2012?

Bill Junk -- your entire set of comments seems to be way off topic, but I'll address them anyway. If you want to continue this discussion about LR, you should really start a new thread (and probably in the LR forum)
Has Lightroom 4 made any fundamental changes in the way they let you organize, tag, and manage files in your collection?
There are minor changes to the Library Module in LR4, but nothing major.
My complaint about LR 3 is that it seems to flatten my image tagging structure when I import catalog data from PSE.
This would happen because you are doing it wrong. If you upgrade the PSE catalog to a LR catalog, your tag structure/hierarchy remains intact.
I have a very nice and organized file structure for maintaining my collection and don't like relying on a database to keep track of everything.
But the tags in PSE are in a database. Your folder hierarchy is really a database in your operating system.
If the Lightroom DB every goes belly up I suspect that years of adding entries would be lost.
There are so many misconceptions about LR. I have no idea how this gets started, but this isn't true. There are simple ways to prevent this from happening.
Suppose your Windows (or Mac) folders (which are a really a database in your operating system) get corrupted. Suppose your hard disk fails. Then what would you do?
The way I'm currently organized and having key information stored in the image files I can usually find what I want quickly using something as simple as Windows Explorer.
    Lightroom has this capability too.

  • PSE 8 doesn't see color changes made in Camera Raw

I have just installed PSE 8 and am getting started.  I have made changes to an image in Camera Raw through Bridge and when I import it to PSE 8 it doen't have the changes.  It shows the original image.  What do I do to connect the two?  Also Bridge "Creative Suite Color Settings" can't be enabled.  It requires that a qualifing product be launched at least once to enable.  But there is no info that I can find about this.   Does this have anything to do with my problem?

At the very bottom of the ACR window you'll see blue link text with the info about the color space, bit depth, etc. of your image. Click it to bring up this window:
where you can make changes. In PSE, go to Edit>Color Settings.
