PSE 6.0 problem

When i open up Adobe Photoshop elements 6.0 I get an error message from the Microsoft Visual Studio Just in time debugger that say there is a problem and wont let me continue. So i uninstalled Visual Studio but it still pops up with an error. I was wondering if someone could help

PSE 8 printing problem with HP 8750 Printer

When trying to print oversized (10 x 11) images in PSE 8 with my HP 8750 printer the printed image looks like a postage stamp. I've done everything the same as I did with PSE7 and the same printer with no problem. What could the solution to this? It's quite frustrating, not to mention the ruined 12x12 paper, which is a bit expensive. I upgraded to Windows 7 64-bit a few months ago and had no problems installing the printer or PSE 8. Everything has been working smoothly up to this point. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

What I should have said is that the image "is the size of" a postage stamp...about 1 inch x 1 inch.
I'm still wrestling with this. I finally got a page to print out correctly, now the 2nd page is giving me fits, and I though I wrote down all the settings, but apparently I must have missed one.

Windows 7 & PSE 8 printing problem

I have Windows 7 and just installed PSE 8. When I go to print in editor (select printer is correct)...and hit print.... The printer changes to wanting to send a fax. None of my other programs have a problem printing including CS5. I can print from the organizer. This is a new computer and printer/fax machine. I have spent hours trying different things to no avail. I have had several versions of PSE and always was able to print from the editor. Any suggestions?

I had exactly the same problem with the same configuration; WIN7 (64 bit) and PSE 8. After reading that deleting the FAX driver worked for you, I went to Control Panel > Devices and Printers. My printer/fax shows up as two separate devices: HP Photosmart Prem-Web C309n-s, and HP Photosmart Prem-Web C309n-s fax. I renamed the fax entry only, by inserting my initials at the front of the device name (before HP) ... et Voila!, PSE 8 can now find and print to the printer device rather than the fax device. This should allow you to select and use the fax device when desired, by any program.
To rename the device, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Highlight the fax entry > Select the Toolbar's File entry > Select Printer properties > Select General Tab. You may rename the device name here, whereas the regular properties displays don't let you rename.

PSE 9 printing problem with Epson printer

hello there,
I am using PSE 9 with Windows XP and Epson 3880 printer. I have re-installed all programs/drivers a couple of times. PSE9 Printer dialogue will not let me print choosing "Let Photoshop Manage Colour". It will only let me print with "Let Printer Manage Colour". I am using Epson papers.
When I select "Let Photoshop Manage Colour", a box appears saying "ICC profile no longer available" and it won't let me print. Is this a PSE 9 problem or an Epson problem?

Well, I actually found the answer. I spoke to an Epson Rep!
I used to have the Epson 2200 printer, then the Epson 3800, and now I use the 3880 printer on Windows XP and Windows 7 on my laptop.
When you uninstall the other 2 printers, the color profiles are still in your program files and can become corrupted.
This is why, in PSE 9, when I checked the box Let Photoshop Elements Manage Colour, it woildn`t print and instead there was the pop-up box ``ICC profile no longer available`` because it was trying to access the old paper profiles and not the ones that came with the 3880. I use Epson papers, by the way.
The solution was to go into C-Drive, Program Files, System 32, spool,drivers, colour, and this opens to the ICC profiles used by the printer. Then I deleted the old paper profiles associated with my former printers.
And it worked !!

PSE 7 launching problems

I use XP SP3 and when I click on Photoshop Elements 7 I only get an hourglass for about 3 seconds then nothing happens. Task Manager thinks PSE is working!
Ankush is working on this already and will, I hope, find a solution!

PSE 7 editor problems

I loaded PSE 7 on a Dell 5100 dimension with all the necessary system requirements but when I try to open the editor it wont open and reports an error,I have removed any other photo processing packages or old adobe programmes,I also loaded PSE 7 on a Toshiba laptop and I have no problems there, any suggestions?

PSE 7 Share problems

I cannot get PSE 7 to send either email attachments or Photo-mail properly.
When I attempt either of these I get all the way through the process, but when Elements opens my email software (Outlook Express) which is the default email in Elements I get a screen that looks like I am reading an already sent email, Sender unknown, all the Adobe advertising is there and the attached photos appear normal. There seems to be the ability to reply or reply all as if I had received it. It is NOT in my in basket or sent mail basket.
HOWEVER, there is no way to send the blasted thing to the receipent selected in my contacts.
This same result occurs with Photo Mail.
I had no such problems with PSE 6.
Is there a solution??

I guess I solved my own problem. I re-installed Microsoft Outlook which I had used until a couple of months ago. I thought it was "overkill" so I went to Outlook Express and un-installed Outlook. After a re-boot I can now send email attachments etc. normally. Apparently something got confused in the process even though I changed the default email client in both PSE7 and the computer in general.

Please help-- PSE 7 editor problem

When I open PSE 7 in edit I get the following message: Photo Shop Element (Editor) has stopped working. A Problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Close the program.
I have uninstalled the program, reinstalled and it works okay for about a week. Then the message reappears. I've done this 3 times [uninstalled, installed]. I tried opening Organize and it works properly. I tried to go into edit from organize but get the error message when edit opens. Can someone help me, please. Thanks, Doris

PSE 7.0 Problem with Plug-ins

Hi, I have the same problem as "Fred5222" in his post from Aug. 16, 2009.
I have installed a PSE 7.0 compatible Plug-in from www.alienskin.com, called "Bokeh" but PSE deos not take this Plug-in. That means, that I cannot
find any link to this prgramm in PSE. Normaly the link is to find under the entry "filters" in PSE, but there is nothing to find from "alien skin" or "Bokeh".
Meanwhile I had assistants from the support of alien skin, because they know about an installing problem of this software under PSE 7.0. But also
under consideration of the in this regard specific guidlines I didnt have success. I also tryed to make a link under preadjustments in PSE, but this also failed.
I also tryed other Plug-ins from alien skin, but all of them doent work together with PSE 7.0 although this software is listed under requirements.
What next? I have no more Idea.

You can try this.
1. Launch PSE
2. Go to Edit -> Preferences -> Plugins
3. In the Additional Path, Provide the path of the Bokeh Plugin
4. Click OK
5. Relaunch PSE

PSE 7 Editing Problem using Photoshop CS4

I recently upgraded to PSE 7 and am totally confounded by a recurring problem using Photoshop CS4 as my editor for photos from PSE 7. When I enter Ctrl + H, Adobe Photoshop CS4 opens the photo just fine and I am able to edit without any issues. When I am done editing, I save the file, close Photoshop (or close the file) and the photo is immeditealy deleted from the directory even though it was just saved in the directory.
I recently re-installed Windows XP, PSE 7, and Photoshop CS4, and the problem continues. Any help or suggestions? I really prefer to use the Photoshop CS4 editor.

Thanks for the response. However, I don't believe the article you you referred to actually refers to the problem I'm having. It seeems more specific to thumbnails from .PSD files created in CS4.
However, the work-around you mentioned is a possibility for me as well. However, instead of overwriting the original, I can also save the edited file to another directory and copy it back to he directory once I exit PSE. This gets to be a REAL PAIN, though, when you're editing several photos at a sitting.

PSE 7 Printing Problem

Does anyone know why I get a magenta cast across the top 1-1/2" of a photo printout using Epson Stylus Photo 1400 and PhotoShop Elements 7? Tried cleaning/aligning printhead without success. Epson says I should turn off the printer's color management and let the printer manage the colors and NEVER to use Print Preview. This doesn't help either. It seems to get better after printing 4-5 sheets, but I sure waste a lot of expensive photo paper. Would appreciate any advice.

Thank you for the suggestion. I can almost definitely tie the problem to the printer because the "pink cast" happens with other software. What I don't know is what PSE settings are recommended for printing good PHOTOS ... allow PSE to control the printing or allow the printer the control? If I set it to allow PSE to control, directly under that option there is a question: "Did you remember to enable color management in the printer preferences dialog?" Okay, then what do I set it to? Color Controls, Photo Enhance, or ICM?
If I set it to Color Controls, I get a choice of Epson Standard, Epson Vivid, or Adobe RGB. If I set it to Photo Enhance, I get the Auto Correct for "Tone" which could be changed to Sepia, grayscale, etc. If I set it to ICM (which stands for what?), I get choices for Driver ICM (Basic), Input Profile (sRGB...), Intent (Perceptual), Printer Profile (Epson Standard). The choices under each category come up as what I have in parenthesis, but there are more.
What I really want to know is (if you know) what the Adobe PSE recommendations are when they ask the question: "Did you remember to enable color management?"
I appreciate all your help, hatstead, and if you could answer the question above, it would be very helpful. But I realize the underlying problem is with the printer. Maybe it needs a good professional cleaning.

Von PSE 4.0 nach PSE 5.0: Probleme mit Katalogen

Hallo zusammen,
bislang habe ich Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 benutzt und damit ca. 10.000 Bilder verwaltet und beschriftet.
Nun habe ich Elements 5.0 (Vers. 5.0.2) installiert. Nach dem Aufruf von PSE 5.0 wollte das Programm den Katalog konvertieren, was etwa 1 Minute dauern sollte. Zuvor wurde mir mitgeteilt, dass der alte Katalog unter einem anderen Namen abgelegt (als Sicherung) wird.
Als nach 10 Minuten der Kovertierungsbalken immer noch an der gleichen Stelle stand, habe ich über den Task-Master festgestellt, dass PSE 5.0 seine Arbeit mit "keine Rückmeldung" eingestellt hatte. Ich beendete daraufhin das Programm über den Task-Master.
Nun wollte ich mit PSE 4.0 zum einen den den gesicherten Katalog öffnen, erhielt aber die Fehlermitteilung "Der Katalog wurde mit einer neueren Version erstellt und kann nicht gelesen werden". Mit Öfnne des umgestzten Katelogs erhielt ich die gleiche Fehlermeldung. (Die Kataloge liegen übrigens unter der Directory 'all users' und ich bin als Administrator eingeloggt.
Das Programm läuft unter Windows XP (mat aktuellsten Updates) und einem noch freien Speicherplatz von 200 GB.
Meine Frage: wie kann ich die Kataloge unter PSE 5.0 (oder auch PSE 4.0) wieder lesen und den Bildern zuordnen? (Mein Hauptproblem ist die Zuordnung der Tags)

vielen Dank für Deine schnelle Antwort.
Leider kam ich an keinen Katelog mehr heran.
Weder mit PSE 4.0 ("Katalog wurde schon von neuerem Programm umgesetzt") noch mit PSE 5.0 ("Keine Zugriffsrechte"). Letzteres habe ich überhaupt nicht verstanden, da ich als Admin alle Rechte habe und hatte. Dies wurde auch unter "Sicherheit" bei der Datei angezeigt.
Ich habe jetzt einfach folgendes getan:
- Das letzte Image vor einem Monat als Laufwerk angehängt.
- Über das Programm taskmgr den Prozess "Photoshop etc." gestoppt.
- Unter "All user" das Verzeichnis "Adobe" umbenannt in "Adobe_Sik"
- Vom Image das Verzeichnis "Adobe" unter "All user" kopiert.
- Rechner neu gestartet und nun funkioneirte der Katalog unter PSE 4.0 wieder.
- Noch einige neuere Bildverzeichnisse über den Organizer aufgenommen
- Backup unter PSE 4.0 erstellt.
So und jetzt versuche ich nochmals PSE 5.0 zu installieren und werde entsprechend Deiner Hilfe einfach den Rechner laufen lassen.
Ich hoffe es klappt.

PSE 8 Licensing problem on Mac with OSX 10.8.4

Trying to edit some Aperture pics with my PSE 8 on my Mac with OSX 10.8.4 the following messge appeared:
Then found I could not open PSE independently of Aperture (version 3.4.5) - and kept getting the same message each time.
Not sure of the current state of my PSE 8 but my Applications Folder shows me the following:
So far as I am aware my PSE * has been kept fully updated using the Mac's automatic updater.
I have had this PSE * since new, just after its first appearance and registered it with Adobe immediately.
It has worked fine but my latest experience may be the first time of use since updating to Mac OSX 10.8.4. Not sure.

Thanks for your response to my cry for help. I do not understand what is going on with this "Licensing has stopped working..." business but I have tried to implement the solutions you offered without any success. My attempts are detailed below:
Solution 1: Could not find FlexNet Publisher folder by the method shown.
Solution 2:
Found and deleted the Flexnet Publisher folder.
Downloaded the Adobe Licensing Repair Tool ( = LicenseRecovery 111.dmg)
Run License Service Update (bearing in mind this is intended for MacOSX 10.7 and not 10.8 which is my system), as follows:
Double clicked this 111.dmg to get Volume (folder) LicenseRecovery 11.6.1 and opened the folder to locate LicenseRecoveryLauncher.
Got to Terminal and opened it.
Typed sudo python with end space and dragged LicenseRecoveryLauncher app in and hit Return.
(Was not sure at all what was meant by the" path to the APP file").
Text and Password: appeared. I tried to enter my password but the screen remained totally unresponsive.
I hit return and tried to enter my password again - but no characters appeared as before. Hit Return and text appeared seeming to indicate some error. (I have no idea what is going on - the use of Terminal is totally strange to me.)
Cleared all from terminal using Edit and tried all this a second time with the same result. A screen shot is attached.
Hence had to abandon Solution 2.
At this point I saw the further solutions and decided I was not competent to use these and so suspended my attempt to get my Photoshop Elements 8 running again while I consulted Adobe further for a more user friendly approach.
I do not know if there is any other approach you can offer to make my PSE8 come to life again which does not involve a more detailed knowledge of computer management than I possess but I should like to know, in simple terms just what has gone wrong with my PSE8 that stops me using it.
Could you please answer my questions below?
Is the "Licensing" thing a problem with Adobe or with Apple or with a third party?
If the License is something issued by Adobe on original purchase, cannot Adobe simply issue me with a new license?
Do I have to buy a later version of PSE in order to use it again - and if so what guarantees do I have that the same problem will not arise in a few years' time?

PSE 6 - registration problem

I am so incredibly frustrated with Adobe right now.
I have been happily using PSE6 for my work for 4 years.
Last week, upon opening the program I got a white blank box instead of the registration box that I have
skipped for 4 years (lesson learned).
After researching forums, and trying to reinstall several times, I traveled 30 miles to Apple Genius bar yesterday
and they determined it was a "licensing" problem.
Last night I registered the product with Adobe. Still would not open.
This morning I tried to call them but of course they referred me to the chat.
I just spent one hour on chat and was told:
I truly understand your concern however, Photoshop elements 6 is an older version, we support only for latest version. Please visit the forums our Adobe experts will definitely give you the resolution.
and
I highly recommend you to purchase the latest version of Photoshop elements so that you will not face any issues.
So, I need a miracle from you at the forums. I have wasted so much time trying to get this resolved and need PSE for work.
One other thing that I don't know is involved. My daughter is taking a digital media course and she down loaded my PSE as well.
Also, she is doing a free trial of Flash and is using Creative Cloud. Problem seemed to start for me after this. She has uninstalled PSE on her computer now.
If I have to buy a new PSE - what version will work on OS 10.6.8

PSE 11 Instalation problem.

I use W7, a PC., I am upgrading from PSE 8. I tried PSE 11 on the trial download and all worked fine. I bought the DVD for PSE 11 from Adobe directly. I then "UNINSTALLED THE TRIAL VERSION" and tried to install the new PSE 11 from the DVD. Near the end of the instalation, I keep getting: "Error was encountered while installing SHARED TECHNOLOGIES". I spent 5 hrs. following the troubleshooters sugestions, cleand the F Drive Head, downloaded Adobe Support Advisor, and everthing else it sugested, and still I get the same "Error Msg. before mentioned. I even went to Adobe Service Chat ... to no avail. I am really lost. I am not one to give up very easy, but I am really stumped!! Can anyone help me? I have never been on this forum before, so I'm not sure of proper protocol here. < email address removed by forum host> I have been around Adobe for about 4 years. I was abele to open the log. It seems crazy to me, but one looks like a bunch of numbers and letters three columns wide followed by a forth columns that looks like a letter from China!! I got the "China Version", or 4ht columns into Notepad, however no matter how I copy it from Notepad (File or Edit or right click and copy) I can not get it to "Paste on this Page". So, I was able to highlight the last log from today's failed attempt to load PSE 11 that looks like this:PSE 11 ST1 Installer 11.0 11-21-2012 . Log.gz Type: GZ Size: 9KB. I then emailed it to myself. When I went to my e-mail, it was there. I then opened it with a program I had (not Winzip) and sure enough, there was the letter from "China". I also was able to send that same log to my desktop in a zip file which contained both the letters and numbers version and the "China Thing", however I was not able to open it because my Winzip would not work. Conclusion:If I can get an e-mail from you to send it to I will do so. I can send both the Chinese thing, and the Zip file? I really don't know what else to do. I spent all day today (from 8am till now, 10pm) pulling out what little hair I have left over this thing. I have two clients coming in for a small photo shoot next Wed. and I have to prepare for that. Really, I have almost given up, however QUITTING is something I never was really good at!! Don't know if all this makes any sence to you, I tried to explain it as best I could but my mind is getting a cramp if you know what I mean. I did as you suggested for Windows updates, restarted computer, checked task mgr. to make sure nothing was running in the background, updated a patch from Adobe "Player for Embedding", and it still gives me the same "Sharing Technologies" error. What I really don't get, is when I have not made any changes to my system, why now I am having this problem. I am really sick of talking to some so called "TECH" from Adobe support that has in 6hrs. of da da da da...has not impressed me in the least bit. OH well.... that is my rant for the day. LOL. If you have any more suggestions, please let me know. I am worn out, so I will lay down a while and give this old mind a rest. I do really love PSE 11, and am completely sick over this. I just want to say that I am so very thankful for all you have done, and I am in no way wanting to impose on you. If you got an idea, let me know. First of all, for reading the log file, you need a decompression software. So you can follow following steps
Use a decompression utility such as Winzip to uncompress the .gz file. Once uncompressed, you will have a new file without the .gz extension. The filename could now be something like "Elemens STI Installer 1.0 11-21-2012.log."
Open the .log file using notepad
Copy the whole log and paste it here.
*Note: You can click on the text "Winzip" to go directly to the download page of Winzip. You don't need to buy winzip, even the free version would do.
Also, you might want to update your windows with latest updates as that too sometimes messes up with the shared technologies. Don't forget to restart your system again in case your windows updates.
