PSE 6 - remembering what's been downloaded

Question

When downloading files from my camera using PSE6 I can't find a way to force the application to recognize which files it has previously downloaded from the memory card and only download new files. Every time I hook the camera up and begin to download to my PC, PSE6 will transfer the entire contents of the memory card regardless. PSE6 will add a suffix to file names for duplicates automatically. I don't always want to delete images from my camera card after downloading to my PC. How do I get PSE6 to only download new files from the camera?

Thanks. Seemed simple but it didn't work. Every file on the card was still selected and downloaded.
What am I doing wrong in my failure to stop previously downloaded images from being downloaded and renamed during subsequent download sessions?
Somwthing else I noticed that is causing a bit of irritation.
If you select "File" > "Get Photos & Videos" > "From Camera or Card Reader"
you can see that under "Create Subfolder(s):" you can select 1 of 6 date formats for the shot date to be used as the basis for naming sub folders. "yyyy mm dd" is an available choice, amongst other date formats. This is the most useful format as it allows for simple chronological sorting of folders.
However when one goes to "Edit" > "Preferences" > "Camera or Card Reader"
there is an option "Create Subfolder(s) Using". The date formats shown here are a bit different to that in the menu under "Get Photos & Videos" as described above. In fact the "yyyy mm dd" option is not here at all.
Which of these two menu selections actually controls how subfolders are created during the download process?
I have also seen what seems to be a contradiction in selecting destination folders for files downloaded.
Under "Edit" > "Preferences" > "Files" > "Folder for Saved Files" (this specifies C:\Users\Me\Pictures\Adobe). The folder specified here is not the same as the one specified under;
"File" > "Get Photos & Videos" > "From Camera or Card Reader" > "Save Options" > "Location" (I previously created a new folder for my images here and selected it as the save location from within this menu)
Which of these two menu selections actually dictates where files are saved? Maybe some of my problems are being created by the fact that I have two different save locations specified at each of these menu selections. I would have thought that they would be linked across the application and update each other if the selection changed in one location. Unless of course I have it all wrong as to what these two locations are meant for.
