Pse 7 cannot find all photos with a specific tag

I keep my photos in a series of 'nested' subfolders by year and by topic and I have found that PSE7 will only find the first photo with a specific tag, for instance searching for one of our dogs by tag name will find the first time we saved a photo of her. It will not find her in the subsequent 7 years of folders/photos. It is v irritating and I thought that I could do this search previously. Help please. Thanks.

I am using Adobe Photoshop Elements 11. How do I view only photos with a SPECIFIC tag, without photos that do not have that tag, but is included in a STACK. It seems that once a photo is included in a stack it is shown even if it does not contain the specific tag that is filtered. I find this very frustrating and hope that somebody can help me.

Because of this situation I cannot make use of stacks in my catalogue, because then the filtering option is useless.
I don't know how you are using stacks, but for me it's a very rare problem. I would like it solved, but it does not bother me very often. The problem arises when the items in a stack don't have the same tags. That should not happen if you create stacks before assigning tags.
I think it would help if you described your own way to use stacks to convince Adobe that an upgrade is necessary.

PSE7: Find all photos with any caption?

I'm running PSE7.
I have a sub-set of my images selected via a tag.
Now I want to find all of images in that set that have any caption at all.
So I do a Find/By Caption or Note.
Now in the next dialog box is there some way that I can enter a wild card or something
that will find any image that has anything in it at all?

Well, I understand the solution you described.
Let me back up a bit. And describe what I'm trying to accomplish.
I take a bunch of pictures and I bring them in Organizer.
I go through them quickly adding 'notes' to them.
Who the people are, where this is, etc. etc.
I just add them in the Caption because that is a single click in Organizer.
Very easy.
But I don't add captions to every image.
Later I go back and I want to add Text to these images in Editor.
Basically, I want to permanently include my 'notes' with these images.
So anytime someone views or prints the jpeg they are going to see my notes.
So my original question was how I can select that group of captioned images
in Organizer. Then I was going to Ctrl-i and get them all into Editor.
But maybe there is another way for me to select just those images?
In Organizer, it seems the only way I can 'see' the captions is when the image
is in 'Single Photo View'. Which is ok. But as far as I can tell, when I am in
Single Photo View I can't 'Select' that image. Maybe I'm missing something.
Anyway, if I could Select that image, then I would just move through the rest
of my images in Organizer. When I saw another captioned one I would want
to do the equivalent of Ctrl-click. Adding that image to the other images that
I have selected.
Well, that's the story. Is there another way I can skin this cat?

Finding all clips with a specific effect applied? (CS6)

I'm just wrapping up a long (2-hour) multi-cam edit and applied the warp stabilizer effect on several clips in the project. As I was skimming the video marking chapters, I discovered some of the clips with that effect had the blue "Analyzing (Step 1)" bar across the clip. Not sure why it didn't complete the analysis and stabilization on those clips originally, but I reran the analysis/stabilization effect and those clips are clean now.
However, I'm worried I might have missed other instances of the "blue bar" in my skimming. Is there a way to search and find all clips in my timeline that I applied the warp stabilizer effect to so I can check them all?

Not exactly.
Any clips with an effect applied have a purple line through them. But you'll have to click the clip to see which effects are used.

XPRESS code to find all users with a specific Admin Role

I've been playing around for a while with a way to get a list of all users that have been assigned a particular Admin Role. I have a role for which I want a specific subset of users to be approvers on it, and I want to greate a Rule that will check for people with a particular Admin Role and then return that list as people to be approvers on the role.
I haven't been able to find an easy way to write this code. Anyone run across this before or have another suggestion???

Unless you have the source files that were on the TC or Windows machine you will have to start over with a new library as follows:
Start over from scratch with new library
Start over with a new library and import the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from your original library as follows:
1. Move the existing library folder to the desktop.
2. Open the library package like this.
Click to view full size
3. Launch iPhoto and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
4. Drag the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from the iPhoto Library on the desktop into the open iPhoto window.

This will create a new library with the same Events as the original library but will not keep the metadata, albums, books slideshows and other projects. Your original library will remain intact for further attempts at fixes is so desired.

Not that I'm aware of. You just export JPEG copies to a folder that you can point iTunes to. For instance, I have created a folder in my Pictures folder called Apple TV. And within that folder I have other folders of pictures that I can choose from in iTunes to share with Apple TV. But there doesn't seem to be any way to share a Lightroom slideshow. If you have laid to create a video file that would probably work. Apple TV is a little clunky in my opinion. Some things are a little more difficult to do now than they were a while back. I probably haven't provided you with much help, but just keep experimenting and I think you will figure it out.

In addition the US Supreme Court has ruled that making a copy of a DVD for personal use or as a backup is perfectly legal, we've been doing that with CDs for as long as it has been possible, same for video tapes.
What is illegal is breaking any DRM protection on the media (this holds true for all media not just DVDs) and actually even this is a bit murky. What is definitely illegal is to sell software to break DRM. However if you write your own DRM breaking software and use it to make personal copies or backups the law gets real gray.
So again as long as there is no DRM involved its OK, with DRM you're best to leave it alone.

Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

When I answer yes then nothing happens and if I answer no then a recovered folder is opened with no photos in it. These recoverable folders keep opening with no photos in them. I cannot find which photos have not been imported. Can anyone assist please?

Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for a Folder called 'Import' or 'Importing'.
Drag it to the Desktop. *Make no other changes*.
Start iPhoto. Does that help?
If it does then look inside that folder on your desktop. Does it contain anything you want? If not you can trash the folder.

Here are the steps I though I took this morning:
Backup iPad
Connect to iTunes and downlaod newest version of iTunes and then newest iOS
restart Vista Laptop
upgrade to newest iOS
I knew somethign was wrong when it took about 6 hours to upgrade the iPad
at the end it errored with this message error (-50), but the upgrade worked
I was expecting to see all my photos but didn't see them
I have tried a restore to a back up 2 times. The first time took 3 hours and just sort of timed out - it kept saying that there was an hour to go
I tried it again 2 hours ago and same message.
They are very valuable to me and so now I am panicking

Your default packet size being set incorrectly can cause this error. Contact the manufacturer of the software that installed the packet-size modification for assistance. Or, follow this article by Microsoft: How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) to reset the packet size back to the default for Windows.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, bypassing any routers, hubs, or switches. You may need to restart your computer and modem to get online.
Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.

If you have backups on both icloud and on your computer, then do a restore from either source. If the phone is new, connect it to iTunes, it should offer you the choice to restore from computer or from icloud.
Note:
You should be importing all pics taken with the iphone to your computer regularly as you would with any digital camera.

Why can I not find my iphoto library or masters? I have iPhoto and Aperture. Though I stopped using both as they just don't work. But I am trying to put the photos on an external hard disk and cannot find all the files. I found the Master folder under Pictures but it doesn't contain my photos?

Thanks Larry. I have yet to find my iPhoto Library as it isn't there. I had about 30k photos in iPhoto and it kept shutting down. So I went to the Apple one-to one last year and they had me download Aperture. After it downloaded, she had Aperture move my photos over? or not sure what it was she did but it took quite awhile. Since then when I would open Aperture, it would basically crash maybe every 2-3 times I opened the application. So I just stopped using it. Got lightroom and have used that sporadically since then but really haven't done anything with the photos or applications. Since my computer is so full I went to the store again and discussed how to manage it better. They had me get a couple of external hard drives, told me to move my Master Photo files to that external hard drive. The problem is, my photos are not where they said they would be - Masters. There are a few there but not the 30k photos. I, did, however open iPhoto tonight and I can see all the thumbnails from back to 2008 come up. I have never directed my photos to go anywhere They were always just in iPhoto. What I want to do is move them off my computer to an external harddrive. And for some reason, how I was instructed to find the large 30k plus file of photos I cannot. The good thing I guess is that I have another one-to-one with Apple tomorrow and I will see if they can help fix this issue. and maybe figure out why Aperture seems to crash continually. TS3988 cannot find the photo files in iCloud

I've been a Mac nut for 20 years, so I feel puzzled. But i cannot find the photo files in iCloud in order to download a few I want onto my macbook air. ideas?

The only way to sync photos between mac and devices is to use Photo Stream, but you cannot view photo files in icloud.com. Do a search (or google search) on photo stream to get all the info on this service.
BTW, if you had a MobileMe account and are trying to find photos in the gallery, there is no such service in icloud. All the mobileme galleries are deleted by now.
