PSE 7 editor closes.

When I am in editor I frequently get error message saying the editor encountered a problem and needs to close. Seem to mainly happen when using tools such as filters, move tools and painting tools.
I am using a desktop with xp. I am not sure if memory might be the problem or if it is a problem with the programme. Does any one have any ideas?

PSE 6 closes out after printing

I'm running PSE 6 on Windows XP (SP3), and suddenly today it won't print to my Epson Picturemate. When I print, it previews and starts to send the photo, then PSE 6 closes itself, and there's nothing from the printer or in the print queue. I can print from Windows Explorer so it's not a hardware issue.
Fast search of the forums gave me no PSE results so I'm posting a new thread.
Is there a prefs or user setting file I can delete (as with PS and CS), that might send me back in time to a day when the printing worked?

You don’t get the Organizer with the app store version; so you would be best to buy the boxed product or download the 30 day free trial from Adobe which is the full product.
Otherwise if you are prepared to operate differently to how you did in Windows, you can use the iPhoto Library with the Elements Editor set up as your external editor or simply use the app on a stand alone basis, opening images in the editor directly from folders.

I have another question....
I want to set my program to fill the screen. This works mainFrame.setExtendedState(JFrame.MAXIMIZED_BOTH);
but it covers the windows start bar. I want it to maximize and not cover the windows task bar (the thing that has the clock and start button etc...)
also this program is intended for all plate forms. so for mac I don't want it to cover the task bar that is at the top of the screen.
and for linux i don't want it to cover the task bar if there is one. thanks.

No. It would have fixed it if that were the issue.
Did you make sure you have enough virtual memory allocated for Photoshop Elements to use when you went through the troubleshooting. I have a DELL. I had to change my virtual memory setting to get Photoshop CS3 to run. With the factory Page File setting, Photoshop would crash immediately with the generic Windows message about Photoshop needing to close and Windows is looking for a solution.

On the Vista machine: Unless you have UAC (Vista's User Account Control) turned off, you'll have to be the administrator and give permission to yourself to do this. Not sure about your Windows 7 machine...
Step 4 in the above is a bit vague. They want you to click under System on the sentence that says "See the name of this computer". In the screen that pops up, look in the left hand pane for "Advanced System Settings" and click it. In the dialog that pops up select the "Advanced tab". In the box that is headed by Performance, click Settings. Next go to the "Advanced" tab that comes up in this dialog. Next to the word Virtual Memory click the change button. Change to desired custom size on this screen.

If you don't know the amount of RAM, your computer has: Click the Vista start icon; then right click the word computer in the right hand pane; select Properties. A screen displaying all of your computer specs including amount of RAM installed will come up.

Making the PSE editor default for photographs?

I am using the latest MAC OS and installed my brand new Elements 10 software. Everything seems to be working well, but the default for selecting photographs to edit from my drive or desktop. "Preview" is the default program on my MAC and I cannot find out where to change that. Any suggestions?

Find a file of the kind you want to open in PSE, click it once to highlight it, and press command+i for the Get Info window. Under Open With choose the PSE editor (note that the actual editor is inside the folder lableled Support Files in the PSE 10 folder), and then turn on the Change All checkbox. You will need to do this for one image of every format you want to open in PSE by default.

PSE editor pictures do not look like the origianls

The pictures on my PSE editor do not look like the orginals and most have a redish cast. I am having a hard time editing as I am not sure what the actual colors are that I am adjusting.
It is near imposible to work on people, i.e. complexion colors, etc.
Is there a setting I am missing in the basic editor?
Any help will be appreciated.

The red color cast you are seeing is created by your color management settings, as suggested by Bshowell. However, the settings in Photoshop Elements under Edit>Color Settings are only part of the story. There are also system level color management settings, the main one we would be concerned with would be the monitor profile. This profile is a description of the color output of your device and is used to compensate for a known difference between the input and the output. However, you are not seeing a similar red cast in other applications because they are not color managed (meaning, they ignore the color management settings of your system). Most likely the problem is you are using the incorrect color profile for your monitor and it is shifting your colors.
A monitor profile is not necessary unless you a very concerned with absolute accuracy in your prints because it is the only way you can ensure the colors on your screen are accurate. But that requires a hardware calibration device.
You should probably just change or remove your current monitor profile. How to do so depends on your OS:

PSE Editor won't open in Windows 7

I just tried to use PSE 7 on my new Dell XPS 9000 with Windows 7 and I receive a message that there is an error. The organizer opens fine. I did click on the icon on properties and tried to change to allow PSE to work but that did no good. So, please keep it simple (I'm simple) and tell me if I have an option to fix 7 to work or am I forced to upgrade to PSE 8? I did try to re-install to no avail. I did not try to re-install by turning off anti-virus as I have read/been suggested. I doubt that would fix the problem. I s everyone, even with PSE 8 having problems right now? If so, and the Forum members do suggest PSE 8, I think I would wait until all the bugs are worked out.

I tried everything you suggested. When trying to open the editor and watching the files load, I get the error warning dialog box when the "twain" files are loading if that means anything. I am downloading the 8 trial version now. Going very slow for an i7 processor. About 1 hr into it with an hour to go! Maybe because this is a busy time of day for Adobe. I did call Adobe but they want to charge to get 7 working. I think that is very unfair considering I did not cause a problem and in my opinion Adobe should have updates to allow 7 to run with Windows 7. They must have a simple fix if they are willing to fix for a price. I have bought Adobe software for years now and I am disappointed at the way they treat their "regular" customers. Any more ideas? Wonder why some can run PSE7 with no problems and others can't? I did tell you that this is a new Dell XPS 9000 that came with Windows 7 64 bit, didn't I ? Thanks again

Premiere Elements 8 Editor closes after clicking OK on "Full Content" message

I downloaded the 30 day trial of Adobe's Premiere Elements 8 and installed it on a Dell Optiplex GX620. It installed and opens certain modules fine (like the Organizer, for example). However, when starting a New Video Project (File -> New) or by clicking on New Project, it loads the module and then I receive a prompt asking to install the Full Content from the DVD/Setup.exe. If you click OK, it closes the Editor. I ended up downloading the Full Content, and installed it as well on the same computer. I tried it again and it failed like before.
Note: I installed PE8 on a different machine (Dell Latitude D600) and the PE8 Editor is launching. I even received the same "Full Content" message, but after I clicked OK, the Editor stayed open and I could continue to use it.
So, it seems to be isolated to just that Dell Optiplex GX620. The answer was QuickTime. I changed version down to 7.3.1 which I got on www.oldapps.com and I am finally able to use Premiere Elements 8.

It now seems that Apple has had two recent series of QT upgrades, that just kill certain Adobe applications, the 7.4.x and the 7.6.x. Not sure what the deal is, or why the QT upgrades are not tested with Adobe products, but it seems that both NLE's, PrPro and PrE, plus AfterEffects can be adversely affected. Some have put forth a conspiricy theory that Apple wants to kill use of PrPro on the Mac, so Mac-users will go with some form of Final Cut. However, this does not play with me, as AfterEffects seems to be affected and there is just no competition (from Apple, or others) to replace it. It is used on many, many Mac machines. I think that Apple is trying to improve QT, and is just not testing their updates on machines with enough software, especially from Adobe.
Still, with the ability to roll-back QT, the user does have a workaround. Personally, I hold off upgrading QT, until enough Adobe-users report that all is stable.

Printing error with PSE editor

My printer is a brother MFC-240C
My computer is a Mac OS X 10.8
My software is adobe printshop elements 10 (the editor part)
When I print a few pages from the editor of a xxxxx.pse, project , I obtain the right printing BUT the program sends thousands of emty pages.
By the time i cancel the tasks, The printer is issuing many empty pages.
What's wrong?

What kind of project?
Are you sayiing that you also get the empty pages when you choose a specific page range, or only when you print the whole PSE file?

Off-center image in PSE editor

I made the mistake of letting a friend check out my laptop and now when I open a photo file in PSE, it isn't centered. It's lodged in the lower right corner. I've tried every setting I can find and I can't rectify it. Any suggestions? Here's a screenshot:

After owning Pse 9 for a couple years now, iam having problems opening the editor.
I have read through many of the forums and tried:
Creating a shortcut to open pse.
resetting the preferences
altering the Twain plugin name( it says pse.8ba) and another which says "save for web(el).8be"
re-installing
Tried running via the administrator method...
ALL TO NO AVAIL!
I have a Sony vaio 64 bit laptop running windows 7.
After re-installing PSE 9 the editor DID open via the "run the administrator" option for a couple days....and now its being defiant again!
Im hoping someone can come up with a genius solution, but if not, can someone please tell me how i can get a refund?

when selecting the desktop icon for pse9 the welcome menu appears correctly. However on clicking on EDIT there is a delay of about 10 seconds( looks like its loading with a line through the edit button) when this message appears: Adobe Photoshop has stopped working: Ive included some pictures below. The error messages Only happen if i chose ' run by administrator'. If opened normally i just get what happens in pic 1. it attempts to load and then nothing! Where do i check the proxy settings?

File System Task Editor closes when selecting DestinationVariable

I've set up a File System Task to move a file. I set IsDestinationPathVariable to True. When I click inside the DestinationVariable value column and either click the drop-down arrow or hit the up/down arrow keys on my keyboard, the File System Task Editor
window closes immediately. In the same task, I have also set IsSourcePathVariable to True and am able to select SourceVariable without an issue. If I set IsDestinationPathVariable to False, the DestinationConnection drop-down appears to work fine. I've tried
restarting Visual Studio, but it had no effect.

I have come across this exact issue as well. Furthermore, when I attempted to circumvent the issue by setting the "destination" in the properties' expression window, I was able to chose a variable. But then when I looked back in the editor window,
the Destiantion Variable does not show the name of the variable I assigned, lets name it "MyVariable". It shows the *value* that the variable holds instead, lets call this "VarValue". Furthermore, when I attempt to run the package, an error is
thrown. The error is that the package can not find the variable "VarValue". What is happening, is that when I set the expression to "MyVariable" the engine looks up the value of "MyVariable" and then sets THAT VALUE as the NAME of the variable, and then looks
for a variable named "VarValue" in the dts variables collection.

How do I stop PSE 13 organizer from quitting unexpectedly when working with the PSE editor

Every time I'm working in the editor I get the error message "the organizer has quit unexpectedly" I have uninstalled and reinstalled as per chat supports recommendation with no improvement. I have studied the Adobe support information and don't see anyone else having the same issue. Would love to hear from someone who may have an idea for me! Thanks in advance
