PSE 7 error in editor

I installed PSE7 over six months ago & it worked fine until now. The only thing I have done different recently was install MSN Messenger. Everytime I try & open editor it gives me a windows error. It says Adobe Photoshop Elements (Editor) has stopped working. A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a soltution is available. It never pops up a solution though. I do not know where my original disc is. Can anyone help me please!!??

Unfortunately, there are many reasons why the PSE Editor might crash, and often it is hard to diagnose quickly the reason for the crash.   Here are some steps you can take to try to fix the problem:

  • PSE6: Adobe Save For Web PSE Error

I upgraded from XP to Vista the other day and now when attempting to use the Save For Web feature, PSE crashes and gives me this error.
Adobe Save For Web PSE Error
Could not complete this operation. An unknown error has occurred.
I uninstalled PSE completely and then reinstalled, but I still receive the same error. After it crashes, I have to open Task Manager just to end the process.

Some people have reported a file-permissions problem with Save For Web.  Try running PSE as administrator (which on Vista is different than running in an administrator account).  Right-click the PSE icon on your desktop or in the Start menu and select Run As Administrator.
Unfortunately, there is a long list of possible causes of your crashes, so if that doesn't work, try these troubleshooting steps:

  • PSE Elements 11 editor very slow

PSE Elements 11 editor very slow and unresponsive since updating to Mac osx 10.9 (Maverick). Any help would be very much appreciated. Thankyou in advance.

If you upgrade to 10.9 with the application already installed the old prefs will have been left behind; so you need to clear them. Start by quitting PSE11.
Launch Finder and click the Go menu whilst holding down the Option (alt) key. Then go to Library >> Preferences and clear everything relating to PSE11 which usually means deleting the following files:
    com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 Paths
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 Settings
Also see this link if you normally have Finder set to the cover flow view:

  • Error "could not complete your request because of a program error" when editor is launched after PSE12 update.

Installed PSE12 in July, Installed and operated without issue. Received a message on the iMac 21.5 running OS X 10.9.4 about an update for PSE 12 being available. I downloaded and installed the update. Now when the Editor of the app is launched, I get a message that says "could not complete your request because of a program error". If I click "OK", the editor will usually continue and operate without problem but sometimes it will launch to a full gray screen and with just the border and will not close, can not quit, and prevents the MAC from shutting down. I have the force quit the app to continue to use the MAC. I have tried safe mode and user admin with same error. I can't find any posting specific to this issue. I thought there was a method to reinstall PSE without uninstalling it but I can't find it. Should I just simply uninstall PSE 12 anad start over???

It is a mute point now. PSE12 finally failed to the point it locked up the MAC. I had to restore the MAC OS from backup to a point before the PSE12 update.
The MAC now operates correctly and so does PSE12. I don't think I'll be updating PSE any time soon.

  • Adobe PSE 7 - Opening Editor

I installed PSE 7 yesterday - my operating system is XP.  I am able to open organizer with no issues; however, when I selected the editor, I got the pop up box that says the editor workspace is loading.  After sever minutes the box just goes away - no error message.
In response to information read on discussion groups, etc...I spent the next couple of hours doing the following.
    1.  Uninstalled and reinstalled several times
    2.  Changed the default printer
    3.  Removed old programs no longer needed
I also tried to delete preferences by using the cntl + alt + shift function upon starting up the program.  I must have tried this 30 times and never got a message about deleting the preferences.  I also tried to find the preferences file...no luck.
I am more than a little frustrated and would appreciate some assistance...Thanks!

Try deleting the prefs again from the welcome screen or the app.
Hold down the Ctrl+Shift+Alt keys and simultaneously click on the Edit button on the welcome screen. Release the three keys and look behind the welcome screen by closing it. Or hold down the keys whilst double clicking on PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe in Program Files\Adobe
You should see a pop up box with the words: Delete Adobe Photoshop Elements Settings File?
    Click on Yes
Then wait whilst Elements rebuilds the preferences.

  • PSE 8.0 Editor Doesn't Open

OK, before I get started just let me say that I have spent the better part of a week moving my photos and catalog from an old XP computer to a new Windows 7 computer.  This involved migrating my PSA 2.0 catalog to PSE 5.0 then to PSE 8.0.  In the process of doing all that I was only able to convert my final catalog to 8.0 by deleting approx 500 pictures from my catalog.  I've spent the entire morning retagging those 500 pics and now I thought I was finally done.  Well guess what, Adobe has not gotten through dragging me through hell quite yet.  After I PAID them $99 for the program I have now found out that I can't open the editor portion of the program.  When I start the program and click on edit, I get the "launching editor" words that come up for a while then they disappear and I get nothing.  When I am in the organizer and try to edit a picture I get about the same response.  I have uninstalled the program and reinstalled with no success.  I renamed the editor preference file and reopened the program thinking that might help but no dice.
I am so frustrated with this piece of crap program words can't even describe it.
So, I come begging to you users of this forum to ask if you can help out a poor miserable soul like me.  I sat on hold for about 2 hours earlier in the week with Adobe thinking they could actually help fix some of my problems but that was certainly a joke.  I guess all they can do is write crappy programs, they know nothing about fixing them.

Thanks so much for that tip.  I did give it a try but it didn't work for me.
After working on this for most of today I'm finally happy to say that I have my problem solved.  It had to do with "building Twain menu items" and I was able to find the solution on the forums.
Thank goodness for user forums because Adobe doesn't have very good customer support.

  • PSE 7.0 Editor won't open

I just installed PSE 7 but when I click on the editor I get the photoshop has encountered a problem and needs to close. Anyone have any thoughts. The rest of the application runs fine.

Worked for me too!!!  Thanks so much.  They guy I spoke to at Adobe tech support spent 45 min. with me on the phone and he couldn't fix.
Can I just remove (delete) the TWAIN file from my desktop, or is it needed for something else?
    Thanks!

  • Upgrading to JSF 1.2,  error: Property Editor not registered

we have a JSF appliction working well on Jboss 4.0.5GA using myfaces 1.1. Now we are moving to jboss 5.0.1GA that uses jsf ri 1.2. After fixing some issues, finally we got the following error for our custom component at runtime:

    org.apache.jasper.runtime.JspRuntimeLibrary.getValueFromPropertyEditorManager(JspRuntimeLibrary.java:887)
It works for myfaces 1.1 version. What is the possible reason? Thanks for any information.
    Dave

    Thanks a lot for response!
    We are using weblogic10.3
We had MyFaces jars and things are very fine. We are planning to use Iceface which required JSF 1.2
I had taken jsf-api-1.2.jar and jsf-impl-1.2.jar and latest supporting jars.
Now I am getting below error with existing jsp
welcome.jsp:31:25: No property editor found for the bean "javax.el.ValueExpression".
    <h:outputText value=_"click here"_ styleClass="TXT" />

welcome.jsp:31:25: No property editor found for the bean "javax.el.ValueExpression".
    <h:outputText value="click here" styleClass=_"TXT"_ />

It is throwing while compiling jsp for almost all the places....
Is there any extra configuration required which is specific to jsf 1.2?

  • PSE 7.0 Editor - Screen Size 1680 x 1050 Resizes

I have a Fuji monitor with 1680 x 1050 screen size (20"). When I open the Editor the display is always smaller, like 1280 x 1024. For work I maximize the screen. Next time I start the editor it is again at 1280 x 1024.
The Organizer remembers the large size - no problems here.
    Any ideas what is wrong?
    Thanks,
    Alexander

There is some evidence that PSE 7 gets mildly confused by higher-resolution screens. A number of people have reported that the scroll bars for the Editor's font list and ICC printer profile list don't always display at 1680 x 1050. If that's the case, then probably the only think you can do is delete the preferences and restart.

  • PSE 8.0 editor keeps crashing

Ok so I will try to describe in detail what happened and I am praying someone knows how to fix this problem!  I had installed about 100 layer styles (not today up until this point) well when I go to use styles I hated how long it took to load, so I decided that I was going to delete some of them I don't use very often. So I went into C:-program data-adobe-photoshop elements-8.0-photocreations-layer styles, and in there I deleted some of the layer styles I had installed to help free it up a bit. I then went into PSE and got a bunch of error messages that certain files couldn't be found, and thought...oh no I forgot to rebuild...so I went beack to c:-program data-adobe-photoshop elements-8.0 and there I deleted the file ThumbDatabase.db3. I then went back into PSE and it gave me the box that said it was rebuilding and the green bar was going and all seemed well, and then it crashed.  I tried to open it again and it crashed again right away, I got a box that popped up that said adobe has detected that PSE has quit working and asked if I wanted to send an error report.  So then I went into my recycling bin and restored the ThumbDatabase.db3 file and tried to open it again..no luck.  I uninstalled my program and reinstalled it, still crashing.
    Can anyone help me????
    Thank you so much!

    Good morning Barbara B.
I opened Program files instead of Program data. Program data showed the mediaData.db3 file . I cancelled it as you suggested and the Edit mode now opens correctly. Thank you very much for your help.
I don't know why this file prevented the Edit mode from functioning and if it was there all the time, why it's removal makes the software work properly. Anyway, it works and again thank you

  • PSE 12 Photo Editor won't open

    Hi,
I purchased PSE 12 in January 2014. It's been working just fine up until the other day. I went to open Photo Editor and it sent me to some other screen and asked me to login. Tried logging in and it said I wasn't connected to the internet yet I was. I Decided to uninstall PSE12 and reinstall. after a few attempts I finally get the main PSE12 screen when I click on the PSE12 icon on my desktop. I was very excited. However, once I click on the Photo editor it appears like it's trying to open and then stops and nothing happens.
I"ve tried something I read on another page to hold Ctrl, Alt, and Shift while I click on the PSE12 icon. From what I've read I should get a screen that allows me to delete something however, I get the pop up that is typical for most program icons. Multiple tabs, Shortcut, General, Compatibility, Security, Details, and Previous Versions. I don't remember changing anything on my computer since the last time I opened PSE12 Photo editor.
Any ideas, I'd like to use the program
    Thanks,
    S

Once I reinstalled PSE 12 I no longer have get the sing in page or the message that I'm not connected to the internet.
Yesterday I downloaded PSE 12 and reinstalled it. I clicked on the desktop icon and got the main screen to either open Photo editor or the Organizer. I was able to open Organizer but unable to open Photo editor.

  • PSE 12 as editor with Aperture 3.5.1

I am using PSE 12 as an External Editor with Aperture 3.5.1. What Aperture Export Preferences should I set up for External Editor File Format and External Editor Color Space?

I have this question as well.  Specifically, what file format, psd 16 bit or 8 bit  or tiff?  I put 16 bit because I thought that Elements 12 would support it, but was not able to edit a photo without converting it.
