PSE 7 Green Eyes

I obtained a trial version of PSE 7.0 to try to correct green eyes in photos of our Westies. The Photoshop web site says the red-eye fix in Quick Fix also removes green and white eyes for animals. I tried it on three photos, and it does not. I also tried the red-eye fix in Full Edit, and it does not.
Am I doing something wrong or missing something, or is the web site wrong?
Thanks,

>The Photoshop web site says the red-eye fix in Quick Fix also removes green and white eyes for animals
If the website says that, the website lies. However, you can do this a number of different ways: select the part of the eye you want to fix (the magic wand may work for this), then go to Layer>New Adjustment Layer and create a hue/saturation adjustment layer. Use the sliders to adjust the color. (If the eye is totally white you may need to turn on the colorize checkbox before the sliders will do anything).

  • How to get rid of "green eye" in pet photos?

Any suggestions for getting rid of the pet equivalent of red eye?  I have tried the various LR tools and can't find one that works?
    Thanks,

Thanks, I will try that also,  I found the following (quoted below) on another forum, and it worked the best so far, I followed the instructions, except I chose red as the color and used 100% saturation.  This resulted in a darker brownish eye, I will now try your suggestion  and adjust exposure and brightness.
"I finally found a green-eyed source image to test. Create an adjustment brush with the following settings: Brightness: -100
    Saturation: -50
Color: Set Hue to 294 and Saturation to 20
Size = Size of Animal Eye
    Feather ~ 10-20
    Flow: 100
    Density: 100
Auto Mask: Unchecked. Set brush over eye. One Click. The Color in the Picker may have to be tweaked slightly to offset your particular shade of green. Usually adjusting the color picker saturation up or down will get rid of any cast.

  • Red Eye removal - Green Eye removal

My subjects are mostly people on horses, and sometimes red eye removal is necessary and works fine. However, horses (as well as most other animals) have a differently colored retina, so I'd need a Green Eye Removal. Would it be possible to make the Red Eye Removal color-independent, or would it stop working then?

  • Blue/green eye correction ability

In addition to red eye correction, add blue eye and green eye correction.  I shoot a lot of dogs and other animals in the field, and their retinas have fewer color nerve cells which causes them to reflect a turquoise or green strobe.  The red eye correction is useless for this.  It should be easy enough to reuse some red eye code to add this capability.  Currently I have to mess around with the brushes, sometimes a lot, to remove a blue or green eye.  I dont see that this has been requested yet and I'm a bit surprisded by that.

    George,
This was just suggested recently on Adobe's new feature request site - maybe go weigh in there.

  • Red/Green eye reduction brush?

    Hi,
I've started taking pictures at my local indoor dog agility training night. Due to the poor lighting I use an external flash unit (Nikon SB600) but this produces pictures with green eye, the canine equivalent to red eye.
I can't use the red eye reduction setting on the camera as this produces a delay that's no good for action shots.
Unfortunately the red eye removal tool in Aperture has little or no affect. Can anyone suggest a way of removing this green eye reflection?
    Thanks,
    Dave.

Photoshop or an Aperture curves adjustment that is brushed in to desaturate and darken or something thereabout = the real answer is get your light(s) off access from your subject - it will improve your photos more than anything else in a lot of ways. Depending on what camera you are using your built in flash can act as wireless remote trigger and you can control ratios from your camera (don't forget to make sure that you put your camera in commander mode and your on camera flash to off vs TTL - this will make it act like a trigger while providing NO light).

  • Red eye green - what if eyes are different color

the red eye tool only allows for eyes to be reduced from red to green
which works great on my friend with green eyes
and it looks terrible on brown eyes
is there not some way to switch the color???
it only makes common sense and yet I cannot find a way to do it
    please help....

The red eye filter is designed only to work on the pupil or black part of the eye, not on the iris - the blue or brown part.

  • When on facebook or sites with pictures, the pctures almost look like a negative except that it's green. this does NOT happen in IE

while on facebook pictures look like negatives but green. almost as if they were ifrared but bright green. eyes, hair, items most of the picture is this bright green. this does not happen if i go to facebook using Internet Explorer. i have deleted firefox and reinstalled over and over but it keeps reoccurring. very frustrating!!

That's strange, I haven't heard of that one! A standard diagnostic step is to try Firefox's Safe Mode to see whether it is caused by a custom setting or add-on.
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, restart Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode Safe Mode] using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
In the Safe Mode dialog, do not check any boxes, just click "Continue in Safe Mode."
If the photos look right, the problem most likely is an add-on or custom setting. Do you have any add-ons that modify or block images, ads, or Flash?

  • Could Lightroom's Red Eye Removal BE more useless?

Version 1.3 and we STILL cant have a red eye removal tool that works half as good as iPhoto's.
    My goodness!

When it works, it works really well.
    Issues:
It doesn't always detect the red eye.
It doesn't do well on "steel eye" or "green eye" on animals.
Sometimes it won't go dark enough, even on max.
There are workarounds for all three issues, and I've used every one of them.

  • Red-eye edit

Every time the red-eye edit is used, the resulting eyes are blue. Not all of my subjects have blue eyes. I can't find any preference or reference that would help with this.
Can iPhoto be set to do brown or green eyes?

Try trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    *What's the plist file?*
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.

  • Cs3- red eye problems

I am trying to fix this photo of my dog (eyes) but when I use the redeye tool, it applies the correction (black) to the red pockets beneath her eyeballs.
I was under the impression that other reflections besides just red could be corrected.  Is there another tool or a different way to use this tool?
    TIA

The red-eye tool only works on red eyes, not white or green eyes.
You can fix animal eyes the old fasioned way: with a paintbrush, sponge tool, a selection and adjustment, etc.

  • How to: Fix yellow pay eyes

I recently was taking photos at a dog show. It was indoors and I needed to use flash. A lot of the pictures now have yellow eyed dogs. Is there an easy way o fix this in Aperture?

There is no one-click solution as there is with red-eye in humans.  There is much good information in the following threads.
Experiment with moving the flash further from the camera lens next time.

  • Fixing Pet Eye

I would very much like to see a feature that fixes the green eye in dogs/cats that comes from using flash, set up to work in the same way as the "red eye" fix for people works.
    Thanks, CD

Make a selection of the offending area and apply a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer.

  • Pet Eye

I have photo's of my dogs that the red eye function of iPhoto will not remove. The photo's show my animals with reflective shiny green eyes. How can I correct this problem since the feature in iPhoto doesn't seem to work for animals.

For Pet eye I have no recommendation - have never tried it
In general I like Photoshop Elements but not sure how it would handle this specific problem easily

  • Red Eye Removal not working properly

I'm having a problem with the red eye tool. I've done a search of this problem which returned no results.
I have three similar photographs, i.e, taken a few seconds a part at a wedding ceremony. I've corrected the red eye problem on the first file. However, the red eye "dots" REMAIN when I switch to the next files. If I select the red eye tool, I even get the location ovals overlaying the new picture.
    Bug?

Actually I've had the same problem with Red Eye Removal not working properly. Problem is intermittent and the eye was for sure red.

  • Red Eye Removal not working

I am using 1.3.1 and started out using the original version of lightroom that was released. I have really enjoyed lightroom. However, the red eye removal tool which worked when I started using lightroom is no longer working. I am having to pull all red eye corrections into "Elements" and that is annoying. When I select the red eye tool and click on the red eye all I get is a beep. I have tried clicking and dragging to select the exact size and that does not work either, just a beep. Does anyone have an answer to my problem?
