PSE 7 runtime error

Hi, I'm trying to resolve an issue with PSE 7 installed on a Secondary School network.
The program runs fine when logged in to a PC as a local or Domain Administrator but crashes when logged in as a student if you select "edit" from the opening screen ("create" works OK!)
The error message is "Visual C++ runtime error!" followed by "the exception unknown software exception (0xc000000d) occurred in the application at location 0x78138aa0" if you click Ok on the first message.
I've already found several references to this error message on the forums and on the web and have followed all the Adobe troubleshooting procedures, knowledge base articles etc. but to no avail - I don't think it's a problem with the program itself so much as with the security settings applied to the PC's for "student" users, who all share the same Mandatory Profile.
I can modify the Mandatory profile or the local security settings of the PC's within reason, but my real problem is that I can't identify the restriction that's responsible for causing the error message in the first place!
Any suggestions welcomed!

Are these actions you put into the C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\10.0\Photo Creations\photo effects folder?
If so, did you delete both the
ThumbDatabase.db3  in C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\10.0
and
MediaDatabase.db3 in C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\10.0\Locale\en_us
after installing the actions?
Then let the pse 10 editor run for about 10 to 20 minutes to rebuild the effects database.

Photoshop Elements 10 working fine but suddenly came up with Runtime error saying the 'application had requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way'. Suggests 'contact the applications support team for more information'. Can anyone help?

If you are facing the issue on the editor try to reset the prefernces of the editor.
To do so, close PSE first if its open and before relaunching
Hold down the Alt + Ctrl + Shift(Windows) Opt + Cmd + Shift(Mac) keys as you click on the icon to open Elements. When asked if you want to delete the settings file, say yes.
    Reset the preferences as above.
Close Elements and Relaunch it again.
Check is the error coming again or not.

  • PSE 9 Runtime Error?

I am unable to edit photos due to a "Runtime Error" that has no correction available.  When I tried to update, that attempt failed as well.

    OS version?
What are the exact steps you're doing to get that error?

  • PSE 5 Runtime Error Launching Organizer

WHen I connect my camera and it automatically launches the Organizer, it tries to start for a minute or more and then I get a microsoft error "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library (Not Responding)" "THis application has requested the Runtime to terminate in and unusual way."  And it freezes.
For years, this organizer has worked flawlessly but one day the PC crashed or ran out of battery when PSE organizer was launching and it hasn't worked since.  I have tried several times to remove the entire program and re-install it but I still get the same error.  What can I do?  I don't want to upgrade if I will just get the smae problem.

Please go to %appdata%\adobe\elements organizer\5.0\organizer and delete psa.prf ans status.dat files. I'm not sure if these used to exist for PSE5 since i don't have PSE5.
Another thing to try is launch organizer keeping Shift key pressed and create a new catalog. This might help you t atleast get started with organizer if its only the old catalog that got affected due to abrupt shut down.
    Thanks

  • PSE 5 - Runtime Error - Solution PLEASE....

I have run PSE 5 on a Windows XP Home Edition computer successfully for about 3 years, recently I split the Organiser in two with no problem. But now I cannot open the Organiser properly, its comes up "Not Responding" as `Topless Holidays.psa`, no idea how this came about. Cannot close this window without having an Error Box - "Microsoft Visual C ++ Runtime Library. be\PhotoshopElementsOrganiser.exe. This is followed by "The application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more infornation." I have found no easy solution for this, uninstalling/re-installing does not work either. I have limited knowledge of computers so a step by step solution would be most helpful and gratefully received. Thank you.

  • PSE 11 RT Error R6034 An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.

PSE 11 Runtime Error R6034 "An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly."  I just start getting this message when starting up Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit laptop! In researching the error I found it to be caused by PSE 11.  When starting PSE 11 Organizer, I received the same error and it crashed.
I tried http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/microsoft-c-runtime-error-launcing.html and it worked as stated in Editor, but now Organizer will not open!
    Help Please?
What caused this to begin with when I haven’t been using the program?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall press on)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • Runtime Error - PSE 10

Have lost connection with PSE 10 on Windows 8. Was working fine. I was simply moving a photo within an album and connection lost. No shows - 'Runtime Error - this application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way - contact the support team'. Can anyone advise please?

I am running 9 on xp but i just went through that same issue with the dreaded application call error, if it's saying c++ is choking then you have a major problem and you wont like the solution.
you can google elements c++ error or what ever error you are getting and see a number of issues and an equal number of solutions and failures.
suggest you download some alternate photo finder viewer mover and put all your images and what ever side car files you can find onto a separate drive for safe keeping
then uninstall and reinstall the program - i would use something like revo so you get all the registry entries.
that may or may not work.
you may try a system reset to an earlier date via windows if you have been making setpoints on installs but only after you have moved all your pictures, failing to do so may result in losing everything.
you can try stripping out command lines in msconfig to see if some thing is stopping it - dicey at best
i messed with it for days to no avail but fortunately I have a back up program which allowed me to do a complete system restore and i got the program working again, all other options did not work for me
i still have no clue why or what hoses the dll files but i suspect it was my last install of the raw or dng convertor.
if you do get it running do a back up before you install anything on your system be it a plugin oranother program because invariably something is going to make a mess of windows and more specifically elements
i never use the organizer in 9 as from what i have read it is not viable.
    good luck

  • PSE 5  program error + runtime error R6025

I've had PSE 5 installed for abt a yr on Windows XP SP3 and was working fine till abt 3 weeks ago when it went buggy.  I get "could not complete your request because of a program error" even with simple tasks such as opening a file.  I also often get a "Runtime Error! Program: Adobe/Photoshop Elements 5.0/PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe R6025 -pure virtual function call"   I uninstalled and reinstalled the program, trying to delete relevant folders, but am having the same problem.  I am not sure abt the procedure for a clean reinstall, if that's what necessary, I may have neglected to delete sth essential when I reinstalled.  Anyway, I would greatly appreciate any help with this problem. Thanks!

The first thing to do reset your application preference files and see if that cures the problem. (If the preferences are corrupt, a reinstall of the program will not fix them as they are stored outside of the program folder.)
Adobe tech doc on runtime errors:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/403/kb403090.html
If the above doesn't do the trick:
You might have an incompatibility issue or version conflict somewhere...
    Potential culprits:
Right before this started occurring did you install a new filter or a filter trial?
Did you point you plug in folder in Elements to another version of Elements or Photoshop?
Did you install a version of Camera Raw that isn't compatible with your version?
Google this phrase: Photoshop R6025 pure virtual function call and/or Photoshop Elements R6025 pure virtual function call. Maybe, you'll see something that rings a bell.

  • I have a visual C    runtime error stopping my pse elements 10 running in win 8.1. I am not a techie so am looking for a very clear way to resolve teh issue without needing too much technical ability. Can anyone help?

I had been using my elements 10 for much of the day so do not know what I have done to upset it! I was starting up again and it began to load then offered me this line of script re a 'runtime error'. That means nothing to me except that it no longer works. I have had a peek on Google and see various suggested fixes from sources I don't know whether to trust. Also some fixes give a list of do's that to a non techie like me are not followable. Can anyone offer me some understandable guidance so I can get back to playing with my photos?

You'll need to ask in the Photoshop Elements forum whose members can better answer this.

Also keep a brief summary in the subject line and use the main posting window to describe your issue in detail.

  • Runtime Error in PSE 9 Editor

When I attempt to access the editor in PSE9 either directly or from the organizer I get the following message:
    "Runtime Error!
    Program:...s\Adobe\PhotoshopElements9\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way."
Uninstalling and reinstalling PSE9 has no effect on this error.

    Oh, great...an "unknown" faulting module!
There's not a lot to go on, so I can only offer a couple of general troubleshooting suggestions:
Re-set the Editor's Preferences by holding down your Ctrl+Alt+Shift keys when launching the Editor and keep them held down until you see the prompt asking if you want to delete the Preferences.  Answer "Yes" and they will be re-built.  You may have to minimize any open windows in order to see that prompt.
If you have manually enabled the TWAIN interface for scanning, see this Adobe document:

  • Can't execute PSE 10 today...giving me a runtime error and shuts down.

I have been using this program successfully for sometime but today program won't open because of a runtime error.  I have read some of the posts but they are too complicated for me to understand.  I need a clear answer on how to resolve this.

There is another way to remove preferences.
Go to location "C:\Users\[User]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Photoshop Elements" and delete the 10.0 folder there. Please make sure that "Appdata" is hidden folder so you have change the folder visible permission from controlpanel in case you don't see the appdata folder.
    Hope this might help.

  • I have been getting a "Runtime Error" and can't open Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor

We are using Adobe Photoshop Elements version 9.0.3 (20110328.m.11320).  For several weeks it has not been possible to open the Editor, although the Organizer opens as usual.  We get an error message that says "Runtime Error! Program: ...\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 9\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.  Please contact the application's support team for more information."  What can we do to correct this problem?

Thanks, Ken!  I have to reply by e-mail, as the Forum site has been down
    for maintenance since last night.
    I am running Windows 7 Professional SP1.
Uninstalling and booting should be straightforward.  I saved the
following files in my Downloads folder from my initial installation of
    Adobe PSE 9.0 on 4/22/11:
    Adobe_Photoshop_Elements_9-AkamaiDLM.exe (355 kb application)
    PhotoshopElements_9_LS15.exe (1,200 kb application)
    PhotoshopElements_9_LS15.7z (1,838,546 kb WinRAR archive)
Will these suffice for reinstalling the program?  Can you tell me how I
should go about the reinstallation?  (I tried to find a page to download
the Adobe PSE 9.0 program on the Adobe website, but could only locate a
patch for 9.0.3, which I think must already have been included in the
    original installation.)
Also, there are four folders, corresponding to four catalogs, in
    C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Elements Organizer\Catalogs.  Will those survive
the uninstall/reinstall process?  Should I back them up just prior to
uninstalling to preserve them for restoration after the reinstall?
Finally, should I back up the 9.0 and Organizer folders in
C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Elements Organizer for restoration as well?  And
    the C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements folder?
Thank you.  I am grateful for your help!
    Peter
