PSE 7 scrambles my photos

In PSE 7 organizer, all my photos are fine up to a certain folder, then everything below that folder is completely scrambled.  When I look on my hard drive, all photos are where they should be.  This is the second time this has happened.  Fixed it by rebuilding the catalog, but then I lost all my version sets.  Has anyone else had this problem and know how to fix it?

I assume you're referring to Display > Folder Location view in the Organizer?  Unfortunately, it's known to be buggy and often shows the wrong contents of folders.  See this FAQ for possible workarounds that work for some but not all people:
http://www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/photoshopelements-6-7-faq.htm#_Folder_Location_view
The Properties pane does show the correct folder location of photos, however,   It's unfortunate that you rebuilt you catalog and lost your version sets.   You could use Edit > Stack > Automatically Suggest Photo Stacks to put the versions into stacks -- that command does a pretty good job of identifying photos that used to be in version sets.
In general, PSE is designed for using tags, albums, dates, and star ratings for organizing your photos, not folders -- it's not a very good file/folder browser.

  • Want to start PSE 12 in photo editor but it will only start in Orgaizer, can't get to welcome screen and the .exe file that Adobe said to look for does not exist on my files

Have tried to start PSE 12 in photo editor but it continues to start in Organizer.  I do not want my pictures loaded in Organizer at all.  Saw a page on the web that said to click on an .exe editor file but that is not on my files.  Also cannot get a welcome screen to come up, only an organizer even though I checked it the first time to come up in photo editor.  I'm now having Organizer crammed down my throat.  Tried online chat but was cut off with the statement that no support is offered for v12 any longer.

    Hi,
You failed to say which operating system you are running on so I'm assuming it is Windows of some type.
You should be able to find the following files, using explorer, depending on your system.
    64bit system: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 12\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe"
    32bit system: "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 12\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe"
Double clicking on that should start the editor - suggest to create a shortcut to it.
If you can't find one of those files, then you either installed it somewhere else or you need to re-install elements.

  • When I merge one project with another, Aperture for some strange reason, randomly scrambles the photos from the project being merged, instead of keeping them in the order they were shot. What can I do to fix this?

When I merge one project with another, Aperture 3 randomly scrambles the photos of the project being merged, instead of keeping them in the chronological order that I shot them in. What can I do to correct this?

The photos have just been dumped into a new home and need to be told how to be arranged.  Go to the top left of the browser view for the merged project and select the desired sort order from the drop-down and they'll all sort according to that setting.

  • Captions embedded in PSE 8 organiser photos

Captions embedded in PSE 8 organsier photos using the 'write key word and tag and properties into photo' are not visible in Windows Photo Viewer. How do I have Captions visible regardless of which Photo app I am viewing my Albums in?
    Shoopa

I don’t think the photo viewer is designed to display captions. Windows Live Photo Gallery does have support for captions. However, the embedded captions will show up in the folder details but you may have to enable columns for Title or Subject.
You can start an impromptu slideshow with captions by selecting a thumbnail in organizer, or in an album, and hitting the F11 key. You can also pause the show and then manually move forwards and backwards using the right and left arrow keys.

You might also ask for help in the Lightroom forum.
What I have found is that when I upgraded from PSE12 to 13, my Lightroom 5.6 still selected PSE12 in the list of external editors. I had to use the preferences menu to select the right PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe in the Program Files/Adobe/Photoshop Elements 13 folder. I got a message stating that Photoshop Elements was already selected as external editor. In that message box, there is a button with the option to 'change anyway', which I did. Now LR correctly opens PSE13 when I choose Edit in Elements.

  • How to open PSE 8.0 photos in 10.0?

I use PSE 8.0 and have 10.0. New SD card photos are available on both, but, I don't know how to get the photos to show in 10.0 that I use easily on 8.0. I want to keep both 8 and 10, but, do not want to risk losing any photos in the process.

Just an update. Removed the 10.0 and reloaded. Stuck at 34% on convert. I
went away for about an hour and coversion had occurred properly and works
fine.  Now--My speculative analysis. Possibly the computer could only process
34% due  to the large number of photos and if it took 20  plus minutes for
the first  34% to convert before freezing then the NEXT 34% would take 20
plus minutes and  I had only been waiting around ten minutes for something to
happen. So, being at  supper may have allowed the additional loadings to
occur. Thanks again for all  your indulgence and help.

  • PSE 5-send photo gallery to own website with FTP

I'm a newcomer to PSE and
want to send a photo gallery to a website which i am setting up. The PSE instructions ask for FTP details so that it can send the information to a folder with the host. I propose setting up the website using an old version of Dreamweaver MX2004. Can I import this folder straight in to Dreamweaver please, and does anyone know what type of file it is? Is it a HTML file?
    Many thanks

The FTP folder contains many types of files. Some of which maybe html, xml etc.

  • PSE 6 Missing Photos How Can I merge ALL photos to PSE6?

I have three versions of elements on my pc..
    starter 3
    PSE4
    PSE6
in all the programs there are photos missing with the (?) or the torn photo image..
in PSE6 when I click on the (?) the program searches and finds the photo quickly BUT I dnt want to do that for thusands of photos.
I WANT to free up space on my hard drive and delete copies of my photos and ran a duplicate photo program which found some photos to have as many as 6 copies most have doubles..
I have 54,000 files of photo duplicates and about 120GB of space taken up.
I am sure that is double the amount of actual photos but as I started to delete the ones with 5-6 duplicates first saving just one copy I realized the
duplicate finder is not perfect...sometimes the one duplicate to be saved is in an odd location compared to the ones it listes as the duplicates.
I have deletd about 5,000 duplicates so far and got back about 10GB of space on my hard drive but I am afraid I am making it harder for the PSE6
to find all the photos. There is a one click button that will highlight ALL the duplicates and delete them in one swoop but I am worried PSE6 will not be able to find them and with just a (?) and a date I have no idea what photo is missing or how to find it.
I just deleted a trial version PSE6 and was finally able to install the one I was given on CD.
but when it loaded hundreds of photos have the (?) and so I opened ALL 3 versions of PE to see if the photos are still on my hard drive or if I deleted
them with this duplicate finder program.
I really just want to have ALL the photos in ONE place and delete the early versions of PSE4 and starter but I am afraid I will be deleting the photos
that are loaded in that catalog....
How can I merge ALL my photos to PSE6?

Here's a method for finding duplicates using PSE 6:
    http://www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/photoshopelements-6-7-faq.htm#_Find_and_delete
The advantage of this method is that you can control which duplicate you want to delete based on catalog information (e.g. one duplicate may have been tagged, the other not).  And you don't need to worry about reconnecting files after you delete.
This method requires that all the files be imported into your PSE 6 catalog.

  • PSE 7 - Share - Photo Mail - "Default Text" - how to get rid off them?

Happy New Year to you all!
I use PSE 7 (Vista, Home Premium) to send regularly pictures with the "Photo Mail" option under "Share".
In PSE7, just as in the previous versions, I keep getting annoyed by the standard text "Here are the photos I want to share with you". This text is then repeated in the actual mail. I like to have it "blank" and not repeated in the actual mail.
Second, in the generated mail we always get that lovely advertising for Adobe at the bottom of the generated message "I sent these photos using Adobe(R) Photoshop(R) Elements 7.0. Find out more: http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshopelwin/" which, gagin I have to delete everytime. Is the an option somewhere (.ini file or the like, regedit?) to supress this?
Third: That message "Here are...." gets automatically inserted into the subject of the generated message. Again: hot to get rid of this?
Anyone an idea or is this something to post to Adobe's Wish List forum?
    Thanks,
    Alexander

Go to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 7.0|Assets|locale\en_us(or wherever you are)\email\signatures and open the files there in a text editor, delete the ads and save.

  • Pse 7 edited photos

Hi i have just started using PSE7 and if i use the auto fix feature it make a copy of the photo in the same directory as the original this is ok if there are only 1 or 2 photos to pick out, but its a bit of a pain if there are loaded of photos in the same folder.
Is it possible to tell PSE 7 to save the edited files to a different folder please
    Regards

There is no way to change that behavior.  For many of us who use the Organizer to manage large catalogs, though, it's not an issue, since we use the Organizer for almost all of our managent of photos and rarely look at the folders using Windows Explorer.  The Organizer puts all of the edited versions of a photo in a single "version set".

  • Pse 7 remove photos from web

I synconized my photos with the website. I decide I want to remove them from my website & restore them to my PC. How do I do this?
    Thanks,
    Alice

    Hi,
Before suggesting something I would like to know about the reason why you want them to delete from Photoshop.com?
Actually Backup/Sync is more about keeping your PSE-catalog and photoshop.com in Sync. So if you try to delete anything from Photoshop.com it will be deleted from PSE-Catalog also. But in this case file will not be deleted from your hard-drive.
    Q1. Do yu want this?
If NO for Q1: There is another way to keep the files in catalog but they will be removed from Albums.
HOW TO DO THIS: Before doing anything check the option in Sync Preferences to ask you before deleting anything from this catalog. In this case, if you delete something on Photoshop.com, PSE will show you Delete Conflicts where you will be asked to take action. You ca choose to keep the file in catalog without Album. Remeber, your Album will be empty in the end but all the files will be there in your catalog.
Q2. Is above solution fine for you?
If NO. You can keep the catalog as it is by unmarking it for Sync and never mark Sync ON for this catalog. So you need to be very-2 careful.
WHAT TO TO FOR THIS: Go to Sync preferences and uncheck it for Sync. Do whatever you want to do online but never check this catalog for Sync.
Q3: Will any of above solution work for you?
If Not, get back to me on my mail-ID [email protected] for other workarounds

  • PSE 5 Export photos

I am using PSE 5 and my son is using PSE 3. I have created a folder with some pictures which contain captions, tags and notes. If I burn these photos to a CD and send it to my son, will these captions, notes and tags be readable in his earlier version of Photoshop Elements?
    Thank you
    Hank

Before you do the export from PSE5, you need to select the photos of interest and then File->Write Tags and Photo Properties to Files. Captions and tags ought to show up in PSE3, I think notes will show up as well, but I can't be sure. There is one way to find out...

  • Saving from PSE to I-photo

    Hello,
I've just recently purchased PSE 10 and having problems saving my edited pics back to i-photo '09.  Once I've edited a pic, I want to be able to open i-photo and have the original and the edited pic side by side in the same folder.  So, for example, I save using the same name but add an "_e" to the edited version.  When I go back to i-photo I don't see the edited version only the original.  The only way I can find the edited version is to right click on the original, select "open original file" and I can see in this new window all the pictures in the folder and the associated edited version.
I'm confused and frustrated.  Can someone help?
    Thanks,
    Joanne

iPhoto will only automatically save an edited photo back to its library if you make no changes at all, and then you will only see the edited version. To do what you want to do, save the renamed edited photo to the desktop and then import it to iphoto as a new image.
While iphoto will remember a version and the original (as long as you make no changes to name or format and save over the original file), it doesn't have anything like PSE's ability to expand a version set so that you can see both together.

  • How do PSE Organizer import photo tags? not found

After importing all my picture to one catalogue in the organizer of PSE 9 for Mac, I recognize that my photo tags which were set in Lightroom and save in the photos are not available in the oragnizer.
Even I am not able to find those tags or can use my tags for filtering.
Is there a switch inside PSE to activate my tags or what ever.
    Thanks for your help!

Did Lightroom write the tags to the photo files? Lightroom doesn't do that automatically, you have to turn on an option in Lightroom.
Which brings up a 2nd point. Why do you want to use two different "organizers", one in PSE and one in Lightroom. This seems to me to be pointless ... extra work, no benefit.
If I had to pick one "organizer", I would simply use the Lightroom Library Module. It doesn't make sense to me to pick the PSE Organizer in this case.

  • PSE 8 some photos will not autoimport when creating an photobook and block the whole sequence. Are there knows reasons why individual photos can hang the import? Thanks Michael

When creating photobooks with PSE 8 I find occasionally that certain photos block the autoimport function and none of the sequence are loaded into the new photobook. Using the identical setting to create a photobook other sequences of photos work perfectly. The photos have been checked and found and all are connected and recognised. Are there knows issues with some photo formats which will not autoimport when creating a photobook?
    Thanks for the help.
    Michael

Sometimes LR can be "nudged" into showing folder relationships which better match the file system, by using the "show parent folder" command. When existing folders appear as if they were "top level" in the drive, we can see a more or less virtual picture of the situation, rather than anything real. So newly added folders can sometimes present themselves as if independent of what is already there.
By forcing LR to show a fuller hierarchy of folders, more attention gets paid to the actual arrangement - so new and existing folders should "wake up" and thereafter appear more reliably in the right relationships.
