PSE 7 shutting down

I open PSE 7 and click edit.  The a box comes ups syaing adobe photoshop elements (editor) has stopped working and must close.  I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling.  I can't seem to find the problem.  Please help!

Try making a direct desktop icon for the Editor and see if you can launch the program directly from the desktop.
Right click anywhere on the desktop and select New >> Shortcut
Browse to Computer OS C:
And find the PSE Editor application in Program Files or Program Files (x86) on Windows 7 - 64 bit.
C: >> Program Files >> Adobe >> Photoshop Elements 7
Within the Photoshop elements 7 folder find PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe (the application not the Adobe shortcut)
Select that file and click Next.
Then click Finish.
You should now be able to launch by double clicking on the new desktop icon, bypassing the welcome screen.

  • Photomerge panorama shuts down PSE10

When I try to create a Photomerge Panorama, PSE 10 shuts down.  The message box is a regular Windows box which simply says "PSE 10 has stopped working".  PSE 10 works normally otherwise.  The last time I used the panorama feature was about 1 or 2 months ago, and it worked normal.
I tried re-installing PSE 10, after uninstalling, rebooting, then reinstalling.  No change to the  problem.
Any ideas of how to fix this?
    Thank you & God bless.

Thank you for your idea, but unfortunately, the problem still exists.  I tried your suggestion a few times, both with a reboot, and without, before starting PSE10.
I have also tried using different compatibility settings, for WinXP, WinVista, Win7, and Win8.
The message I get after trying to start a Photomerge Panorama:
Otherwise the (PSE10) program functions as normal.
    Any other ideas?

  • PSE 12 Automatically shutting down after "sign in"

Hi,  I just bought PSE 12 and installed the disk, everything seemed fine with the install.  When I open PSE 12 it says "Sign In Reqired" then I press sign in, and put in my Adobe ID, and it says "please wait for a moment" and then the entire program shuts down on it's own.
I tried to look up several advice questions on this community, so here is what I've tried so far:
    1. Restarting computer.
    2. Uninstalling/Reinstalling
    3. Downloading the Free Trial
    4. Updating Quicktime
    5. Going into Owner > App Data > Roaming > PSE > 12.0 (and then deleating the contents)
    6. Creating a new Adobe ID
I am running Windows 7.1, no prior Photoshop program was installed.  Also, the trial version of PS premere elements 12 that came on the disk seems to work fine?
    Any suggestions would be awesome

That means that for some reason PSE isn't liking your Adobe ID. It would probably be quickest to contact activation support:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-deactivation-products.html
If you scroll down there's a place on that page to start a chat session and they can usually fix it right away.
In case you didn't know, in PSE 12 sign in = activate.

  • Pse trial v12 installed but when opening the editor it shuts down after 2 seconds, what can be the problem? I have windows 8.1 64 bit with the latest video drivers installed. Thanks

PSE trial 12 installed just fine but when i start the editor it opens and shuts down after about 2 seconds without an error, the only thing that appears is a message with 'continue trial'.
I have windows 8.1 64 bit and i already installed the latest video drivers, intel hd 4000 and nvidia geforce 710M.
I also installed premiere elements version 12 with the same problem.
What can be the problem here, please help?
    Thanks.
    Wim.

    Hi roberto-
Yes, its a shame. I have also contacted lenovo support hoping that they can sort out this problem. However, first response from them was 'contact your internet service provider since internet connectivity goes down'! :-/ I am hoping I have been able to get through to them now at least about where the problem lies. I wonder if anyone has tried using the laptop with the same broadcom wireless adapter with some other version of OS (linux, windows 7 etc.) and whether they still face the same problem. I haven't tried that yet. If this is just an OS / driver issue I hope someone somewhere is working on a fix! If not, I guess the only other solution would be to get an external USB wifi adapter but that is not something one would want to do when you buy a brand new Lenovo laptop. This was a big let down for me.

  • Windows message on PSE 7 says the prgm is shutting down.  I have XP sp 3.

When I open PSE 7 and go to Organizer I get a Windows message saying an error reguires the program to shut down.  I have XP sp 3.  Elements was working ok until about a week ago.  I have been adding scanned images and some are indicated as too large and won't display.  They are jpegs.  I can continue to work in Organizer and ignore the message.  I have tried debugging and sending messages to Microsoft.  How can I resolve the message conflict with Windows?

See HT203206: iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8: Fix unexpected quits or launch issues.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

  • Organizer Shuts Down in PSE 7

I've been using PSE7 for a couple of months with no problems. The other day my computer shut down while I was in the organizer and ever since, I get an error message saying it has to close down. After reading some suggestions, I've learned that if I repair the catalog, I can get into organizer and even do some more work (add photos, create new albums and tags, etc.), but inevitably it will close down again. I did an uninstall and then reinstalled, but the problem continues. It isn't any one action that seems to cause the shutdown....sometimes it's very quickly after I've opened the organizer and other times it will be fine for up to a half hour or so and then it's shut down, repair again and hope for the best. Any suggestions? It's become really frustrating and I'm regretting the upgrade. Thanks!

I too am having trouble with Organizer in PSE 7.  My problem is with outputing a slide show to Premier Elements.  About 60mgb into the output Organizer shuts down.  I've tried uninstalling my DVD drives, uninstalling PSE 7, changing the registry moving scratch disks around, numerous other things, I even sat and watched taskmanager while the file was trying to be output to be sure I didn't have a memory problem in Vista!  Still can't output a slide show at all for any use.  I did try opening a slide show in PSE 6 and that worked fine.  I just didn't want to have to go through the process of recreating a slide show from scratch and since the files are databased files I can't figure out a way to get the show from PSE 7 to PSE 6 without saving it with an output file.  Does anyone have any ideas for me regarding any solution short of putting in the hours to recreate the Slide Show????
I don't find WinDVD.  Where would I find the .dat file????
    Thanks, mary lou

  • Does PSE 10 save files automatically if my computer crashes/shuts down suddenly?

Hi, I was drawing out the base lines for a painting I am making with Photoshop Elements 10, when I left briefly. I think my computer decided it wanted to do updates suddenly, and it shut down everything. When I rebooted my computer and re-opened PSE 10, I couldn't find the file. Of course, I'm an idiot and neglected to "save as" before I left the room because someone in my house required my immediate attention.
Does PSE 10 save your project at all if suddenly your computer shuts down or crashes? If so, then how to I find those files? Or am I screwed? Because I liked how it was turning out and I had spent a lot of time to get to the point I was at before my computer decided it hated itself. So, I'd really like to get that file back...
    Thank you.

No, unfortunately there is no autosave in PSE.

  • My PSE elements 7.0 on Vista shuts down before loading thumbnails.

I get the Windows error sign that then shuts the organizer down. The thumbnail spinner having stopped working.
I have repaired the catalog, optimized it and reindexed and repaired again.
I have deleted PSA and status.dat
    I have deleted thumbnail cache
I have uninstalled and reinstalled PSE.
    I have created anew catalogue
I have imported pictures to the new catalogue successfully.
The thumbnails were created. I worked on this catalogue for about one hour. Exited. When I reloaded PSE the same fault occurred immediately.
Windows picture viewer and Photo Gallery work fine with all my catalogue.
The fault module name is EZdH264DecTFilter.dll
    What should I try next??

Thanks for the advice. I do suspect the problem is something to do with
video files. But turning of the Active File Monitor sadly has not  fixed the
    problem.

  • Photoshop Elements 12 Editor Shuts Down Without Saving for Web

    Hi
I have a mac version of Photoshop Elements 12 Editor. I have been using the products for a few months with no problems until recently when I try to save for web (after the preview is shown), the program will shut down by itself when I click the "Save" button.
    Mac version OS X 10.9.5

Oh, and while you're in there delete:
    com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 paths
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 settings
There's a saved application states folder at the same level as the Preferences folder. Delete anything in there for PSE.

  • Each time that I go into edit with Photoshop Elements 8 it causes a physical dump and shuts down

Each time that I go into my Photoshop Elements 8 it causes a physical dump and shuts down.  I have only used this program a few times although I have had it a few years.  The first couple of times it worked fine; but now, it shuts me down each time.  I have already tried unistall and reinstall.  Help!

Well, can you try opening just the Photoshop Elements 8 (from the Start menu) and see if it opens Editor from Welcome Screen or not?
It it still crashes, please try couple of probable solutions as mentioned below:
    Solution 1:
    Close Elements.
Launch the Photoshop Elements Welcome Screen and hold down ctrl + alt + shift as you click Editor.
Continue to hold the keys until you see a message box asking if you want to delete Photoshop Elements settings file; click Yes. Elements will open with default preferences.
Solution 2: In case any network printer is attached try to launch without network or printer uninstall or make different printer as default.
Solution 3: Try launching with anti-virus off or removing PSE from conflicting list.
    Solution 4:
On the drive on which you have installed PSE,on my machine it is on C:
Go  to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10\Locales\<locale>\Plug-Ins\Import-Exportand you will find twain  plug-in. Remove that plug-in from that location and copy it somewhere else.
Now launch PSE and check if it works.

  • Win 8(64) and PSE11 shutting down

I was just using PSE11 Editor on my Win 8(64) computer yesterday and it was working fine.  Today, I open PSE11 and it opens fine, but the minute I click on File > Open to open an image, it shuts down o me.
Any idea what's going on?  Haven't changed anything on the computer since yesterday.
    Thanks, Patty

Not sure what happened, but rather than opening PSE11 and then trying to open the image I went to the image in Windows Explorer and used "Open With" option selecting PSE11.  The image opened fine.  And, now closing and opening the program and it opens images the first way fine.  Haven't turned off computer to see if it comes back to being a problem after that.  If it does, I'll report back.
If anyone knows why this has happened, I would still be interested in knowing.
After this problem started, I'm now having a problem accessing an external hard drive that I tried to access the images from when I couldn't get PSE to open off my internal hard drive.
Connected via USB3 and the drive displayed in WE at first.  I went through normal eject the drive process to disconnect.  But, then once I'd attempted PSE11 again, it won't display the drive in WE.  Although, I can feel the drive moving.  I went to my desktop (WinXP Pro) and opened the drive to make sure it wasn't defective.  It worked fine.  Came back to laptop and it opened fine.  But, I disconnected it through normal eject process and unplugged it.  Then, a few minutes later decided to connect again and now it won't display in WE again.  And, there is no option for me to eject the drive.  Only way I've found is to power down the computer, then disconnect the drive.
Not sure if these two things are related.  I'm not even sure I've ever had this external drive connected to this laptop since I purchased it.  But, I have used PSE11 numerous times since December when I got the laptop and PSE.

  • Photoshop Elements 9 keeps shutting down.

I have created a slide show in PSE 9, but whenever I try and preview it in full-screen mode I get an error that the program is experiencing a problem and it shuts down.  Can anyone suggest a fix?

Make your re-sized jpegs first then start over by adding them to a slideshow. Finally add the transitions and music and re-save.
    File >> Process Multiple Files
Choose your source folder (e.g. the one containing the 200 images)
Create a new folder and select it as the destination.
Under Image Size check the box: resize images then enter 1500 pixels and 1000 pixels into the width and height boxes and set resolution to 72.
If your originals are raw files, PSD or another format, check the box for jpeg conversion and choose high quality.
Then click OK and when PSE finishes go to the new folder.

  • Photoshop Elements 9 shutting down when using the Spot Healing Brush

    Hello! I recently downloaded and
installed the PSE 9 on my PC. Obviously I wanted to check out it's possibil

As soon as I try to apply something to a picture, I get the message something is wrong with "photoshopeditor.exe" and needs to shut down the program.
That's really annoying and hopefully someone may have the answer and solution why it does this. I run the program on Windows XP (SP3).
I really appreciate your help. Best regards, CharlesHHH.

  • Txt Tool shuts down the program

I have Windows 7, Photoshop Elements 9. It was working finw for years, and suddenly when I click the text Tool the program shuts down. I even re-intall the program and the problem persist. Any suggestion?

Did you delete the preferences folder before re-installing PSE?  If you did not then I have to say it was a futile exercise on your part because your preferences file are likely to be corrupted and reinstalling does not necessarily over-write them.
However, I have to take your word for it because you have used so many tools to solve this that I can't dispute your findings.  CCleaner is pretty good to delete registry entries and Revo is the best in uninstalling the programs.
Now if nothing works as you say then I have to say that you will need to reset your machine to a date when it was working.  Now can you remember roughly when it was working correctly?
I suggest read this link first:
    <http://windows.microsoft.com/is-is/windows-vista/what-is-system-restore>
It is for vista but for Windows 7 is also available on Microsoft website.

  • I have downloaded photoshop elements 12 on mac. But the program keeps shutting down and i have to restart it the whole time.

I have tried deleting the program and reinstalling it but it is not working.  It is really annoying since I use it for my photography business.  I can not work in a program that keeps shutting down.

You must always, always use the uninstaller in the PSE 12 folder in applications. Unfortunately, you broke some stuff by moving the program that way, so now I'm afraid you have a bit more work to do. First, download and run this:
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
That will not actually remove anything, but it frees things up so you can go around and manually remove stuff. After running it, you will need to scurry around your hard drive and trash all the bits you can find. Start in your username>library>preferences. To see that library, option click Go menu in the finder and it will appear below the little house for your user account. look especially for files beginning com.adobe.whatever. While you're in that library go to the saved application states folder and delete anything pertaining to PSE.
Next you need to go to the library at the top level of your hard drive>library>application support>adobe and delete all the PSE stuff in there. That library isn't exactly hidden, like the user library, but it's hard to get to. The easiest way is to go to the finder preferences>sidebar and turn on Hard Disks under Show these items in sidebar. Then the next time you open a finder window your hard drive will appear in the list on the left side of the window. Click it and the library you want for this will appear in the top level of results.
Finally, after reinstalling PSE, be sure to immediately go to editor>help>updates and update to 12.1, then repair permissions.
