PSE 7 won't launch in Vista 64

I recently got a new PC with Vista 64. I loaded my PSE 7 using the "Windows XP" mode and everything seemed to go well. The desktop icon looked different and the program would not launch. I got the "can't find the file" Looking at the program file, there isn't any exe. file at all.
I then downloaded the same program, PSE 7 from the Adobe site and it runs just fine. But, it won't accept my serial number from my CD.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Actually, Windows XP compatibility mode and C:\Program Files (x86)\ folder are independent of each other.
The x86 folder is where 32-bit programs get installed on Vista 64, regardless of whether they need XP compatibility mode.   The PSE 7 installer will automatically place PSE in the x86 folder, since PSE is a 32-bit program.
There is no need to install PSE 7 on Vista 32 or Vista 64 by running the installer in XP compatibility mode -- that may well be contributing to your problems.   PSE 5.0.2, 6, and 7 are fully Vista compatible.
Another person encountered very similar problems.  He too then downloaded the free trial and had it run successfully.  Then he installed from CD again, and the installer asked to uninstall the free trial; he said "yes" and the CD installation succeeded:

If that doesn't succeed, I can recommend other troubleshooting steps.

  • PSE 7 won't launch in vista

I just got a new computer with Vista 64. When I load PSE 7, click the icon it says it can't find the program and indeed, there isn't any .exe file anywhere.
I load it with no virus, no UAC.  Now, if I download the tiral program from the Adobe site, it runs just fine but I can't use my serial number. Any ideas?

  • PSE 8 Won't Launch After Installing Maverick

I can't open PSE 8 and get an error 150:30.  I tried to use LicenseRecoveryLauncher but it won't open either because it says PowerPC applications are no longer supported.  Can anyone help me get around this issue???

Thank you for your assistance!  I did as you suggested but it still is coming up with the same error about the licensing.  I thought I would uninstall it and then reinstall but it gave me a warning that is needed to make sure before uninstalling to deactivate and remove any serial numbers used when installing it on this machine.  To deactivate I have to launch PSE 8 so I won't be able to follow the rest of the instructions.  It also said that deactivating a serial number will allow you to activate it on another machine.  But I am just reactivating it on the same machine so do you think I can ignor this warning?

  • Pse 5 won't launch

ok, so i posted an issue with my photoshop software on here not to long ago and thought it got solved, but not quite.
I have Photoshop elements 5.0 and am working on windows vista.
Basically everytime i used to launch pse5 it got stuck on "scanning for plugins" and wouldn't launch so i was told to hold down the shift+alt+ctrl keys to reset the settings. and it worked.
However, now when i try to launch the software, it moves past scanning for plugins and gets stuck on "scanning for presets" If I hold down the shift+alt+ctrl keys it will work but i would rather not have to do that everytime i launched the software.
    Any help guys?

  • Pse 10 won't launch organizer unless i go thru premiere... also locks up during catalog back up

tired of pse10 locking up and want to purchase 12... but when i try to backup my catalog, it locks up during "media size" at 32%... anyway to create a catalog back up?

Bypass the Unwelcome Screen by creating Desktop shortcuts for the Organizer and the Editor.
    The Editor's executable is:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe"
    The Organizer's executable is:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 10 Organizer\PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe"
The Unwelcome Screen leaves a zombie process running which prevents the actual program from launching again.

  • ITunes won't launch in Vista - help?

Please help, I've been through the troubleshooting, but no good.  A wee while ago iTunes started to ask for my login and p/word when I clicked on the icon (I think this was just after an update) to open it.  When I entered the details it kept saying I was incorrect, so I managed to get rid of the request and open iTunes.  I did this twice, then the next time I tried to launch iTunes and nothing.  No message, no anything.  I am desperate for my music, so please help.  BTW I am not great technically so any help will need explaining!  thank you

    1. First check if this file APSDaemon.exe is the problem here.
    Close your iTunes.
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del key and choose Task Manager. In the "Processes" Tab, select the file APSDaemon.exe and click End Prosses button, then close the task manager window.
Now open itunes and see if it is working?
If that works, to prevent having to do the same process everytime you restart Windows, go to. START button, type in
    MSCONFIG
    Hit ENTER
Click STARTUP Tab, Uncheck "Apple Push", click OK.
    Restart Windows.
    2. If that fails, refer to following article to remove SC Info.lib file:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2363
    3. If that fails, repair or reinstall your Quicktime. START / CONTROL PANEL / PROGRAMS N FEATURES / hightlight QUICKTIME and click REAPIR.

  • Firefox won't launch with Vista

It runs in the background as I can see in it processes......anyone have a solution.
    Thanks

Had the same problem. It was my nod32 firewall that was blocking the firefox.exe file.
Try to rename the firefox.exe to firefox1.exe and run it. In my case it ran withouth problems. I didn't had nod32 gui opened and so it didn't ask me if i want to block firefox.exe so it just blocked it. When i ran nod32 gui it asked me if I want to block it and I clicked no, now it starts normal.
So check your firewall or anything else that could block your firefox.
    cheers

  • My lightroom just updated to CC from lightroom 5 and now it won't launch - ideas? I have tried reinstalling, restarting. No go.

I have tried re-installing and restarting my computer - and am in lineup for customer care - but it won't launch at all.

first, sign out and then back in to your cc app and retry updating, http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/sign-in-out-creative-cloud-desktop-app.html
if that fails, close your cc app and then reopen and retry updating.
if that fails, restart your computer, sign out and then back in and update.
    if that fails,
Remove the OPM.db file and relogin into the Creative Cloud desktop application using the Adobe ID tied to your subscription.
Mac OS: You can locate the OPM.db file in the \User\<user name>\Library\Application Support\Adobe\OOBE folder. To access the hidden user Library folder, see Access hidden user library files | Mac OS 10.7 Lion.
Windows: You can locate the OPM.db file in the \Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE folder.  To view the hidden AppData folder, see Show hidden files, folders, filename extensions | Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7.

  • QT 7.6.7 won't launch or takes a VERY long time to launch

Sometimes Quicktime won't launch at all. Sometimes it launches after I open Internet Explorer 32-bit and open a QT movie link from the browser. Sometimes it launches after 30 minutes. It is very unpredictable. I am not sure what is wrong with my Windows Vista 64-bit system. I have tried to repair the installation as well as uninstall and reinstall and reregister my Pro license for QT.
Has anyone else come across this problem before?
    Sincerely,
    markerline
Windows Vista 64-bit Workstation (HP), Quicktime 7.6.7 Pro

could be the firewall i suppose. i'm running norton 360 3.0 with antivirus and firewall being set by this program. the windows firewall is off. I heard there was an issue of security with QuickTime prior to 7.6.7 update.
I double checked and I am not experiencing this type of problem on my Windows 7 64-bit machine which is a notebook.

  • After installing ITunes 64 bit in my Windows 8 laptop, it won't launch

I just upgraded to Itunes 64 bit in my Windows 8 64 bit laptop. I've downloaded and installed it but it's not working. I've uninstalled and installed again and again, still ITunes 64 bit won't launch. Help!

Windows 8 or Windows RT? iTunes won't run on Windows RT. It should run on Windows 8. Use the appropriate installer from an account with administrator privileges.
    Windows System Requirements
PC with a 1GHz Intel or AMD processor and 512MB of RAM
Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later, 32-bit editions of Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
64-bit editions of Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8 require the iTunes 64-bit installer
    400MB of available disk space
Broadband Internet connection to use the iTunes Store

  • Photoshop Elelments 2 won't launch

My photoshop Elelments 2.0 program won't lauch -- it says it won't initialize because the scratch disks are full.  This is a new problem -- it has worked perfectly for years, now all of a sudden it won't launch.  I did install a new hard drive recently.  Reinstalling the program won't help.  Anybody have an idea?

The problem is that your new hard drive is probably larger than a terabyte and PSE 2 can't understand a drive that large. The only solutions would be to partition your drive into smaller partitions or upgrade to a more recent version.

    hiya!
just popping by to drop off a link to a QT standalone installer:
    Quicktime 7.0.4 Standalone Installer
(the link to a true standalone QT on the QT Player download page can be a bit difficult to find. the most obvious download link on there leads to an itunes/QT installer bundle.)
