I am trying to put PSE 8 on a new laptop. I am being told to deactivate one account. I have one account on a machine that no longer exists. Is there a resolution/

Well, since you can only have PSE activated on two computers at once, it shouldn't be too onerous to go to Editor>Help>Deactivate on both of them.

Your license allows you to have PSE activated on two computers at once, so if you want it on three computers, you would need to deactivate it on one computer. In PSE 12 you do that by going to Help>Sign Out in the editor.

Why am I getting an "Activation Error" message in PSE 10? Bug in program??

A little over 6 months ago, my desktop bit the dust. I set up a new laptop, and loaded PSE 10 onto it. I have been using it since then. Today, I downloaded some photos from my SD card into PSE 10, worked fine. I then opened Editor, and the screen popped up with a big box saying "Activation Limit reached for Photoshop Elements 10." It also says "This serial number has already been activated on two computers". Well, that is probably true ... the desktop that bit the dust, and the one I'm on now where the message showed up. I "re-tried" and it repeated the message. It tells me that if I click on "Remind me later", my software will stop working in 30 days.
What the hell is going on here? If Adobe allows activation on two computers, then I shouldn't have a problem because this did NOT happen because I'm trying to install anything ... I only tried to open Editor on the laptop I've been using for over 6 months! If it doesn't allow 2 computers, what do I do? I can't "de-activate" the one on my desktop since that computer is toast. But if that is the case, why is this just showing up NOW? It should have happened earlier, no?
I think there is some sort of bug in PSE 10 that hasn't been addressed ... or hasn't been addressed on my system. How do I resolve this? If it matters, I am using Windows 7, 64 bit, 8 GB RAM,

Activating PSE 4.0 After Installation

Hi, I'm trying to package Photoshop Elements 4.0 to be pushed out with Microsoft SCCM but don't want to activate it until after installation. Is there any way to skip activation until the first time PSE is run?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The above should have said like pse8 and pse 9 use.
I believe there were two versions of pse 4 for windows, one was the try and buy version
that you would get if one downloaded pse 4 from adobe and the other was the cd
version, which doesn't have a trial period, so i'm guessing there's not a way to install
without a serial number or delay putting the serial number in until after installation.
You can still download the try and buy version, but i couldn't tell you whether or
not it would accept your serial number.

PSE 8 Mac & Time Machine Activation

Hello, I Am using Photoshop Elements 8 Mac For OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, All is working ok. and registered and activated ok. But have one issue about your activation process.
I Have made a OS X 10.6 Time machine Backup as Of Today which includes Photoshop Elements activated but My Concern or question is:
1) Should I De-Activate photoshop elements 8 Before I Do A Complete Time Machine Restore Even though the backup has the activation within the Saved backup?
2) If not what do you reccomend on how to do a restore using time machine with PSE 8 Saved in The Backup file?
3) If I We ́re to activate and de-activate many times, would adobe block me from activating again as I Use Time Machine quite often sometimes?
4) is the ́re a limit of how many times I Can activate this product within a give time of period?
all these questions are related to TIME MACHINE FOR OS X 10.6 For 1 Computer

To clarify, the limit is two hard drives, but only adobe knows how many times you can activate/deactivate/activate on those drives before you get the dreaded Contact Adobe message.
Merely including PSE in your backup doesn't constitute using it--it's when you launch it that it activates.

PSE 11 Activation Fails After Camera Raw Update - 12-14-12

I updated Camera Raw today (12-14-12) through the Adobe Software Updater. Now when I start PSE 11, I get a message that the software has exceeded its activation limit.
I chatted with "Ankish" who kindly reset the activation. It worked while I was online with him. I closed and restarted PSE 11 and there was no activation notice.
After the chat session, I rebooted the computer, and the same problem re-occurred. Upon startup, PSE 11 pops up a message that the software activation limit has been exceeded.
Let me be clear, I bought the application from Adobe, I have a valid license that was delivered from Adobe via email, the software has only ever been installed once, on this machine.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

If not, can you please tell if Editor gets launched on your system? If it gets, kindly go to Help> Deactivate. If this option is highlighted.

Activation/deactivation on PSE 12

Purchased download of PSE 12 for Wndows Vista in Feb. 2014. Got it to download. When attempting to run the program, as soon as I selected a task, I would get a 'run time' error..know that's a registry problem. Tried uninstall/install several times. Just recently purchased the actual DV disk for the program..have successfully loaded it but on activation the screen hangs up...windows cog spins, goes nowhere. As far as I am able to ascertain, I need to probably deactivate the download software serial number or transfer it to this purchase (they are the same number as the download may have been the issue) - download version is NOT on my computer at this time.
Do I need to uninstall the DV version,
then reinstall the download version,
deactivate the serial number in my Adobe account of the download version (if that is possible)
and then uninstall that one and reinstall the DV version - hopefully Adobe will recognize my new DV version online?
I have been online with Adobe so many times (but only Customer Care, as I can never get through to support) and it is so very frustrating. 'Outsourcing' - not Adobe's best idea.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated, need to get it installed and up and running within 7 days they say.

ok, I have uninstalled the DV version, and downloaded the online version, but again, when the screen comes up to register, it goes gray and the little cogwheel spins, forever...what do you suppose am I not doing right? Also, once I get there, where do I go to DEACTIVATE or TRANSFER the serial number?

Is there any command line option to force PSE to stop completely after exiting the GUI?
Opening the Windows Task Manager and killing the PSE process is not a solution!
(Context: I want to start PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe from another program with an image filename as command line argument. This other program waits in background until PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe has finished and pops up again after that. Since PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe continues to run silently in background, the other program will never come back.)

Enlarging the Active Image Area in PSE 10

Ok, so I get a new Nikon D7000 and find PSE 8 doesn't work with it. So, I splash out on the upgrade to PSE 10 only to find they kept the annoying label which pops up in the Active image Area but took away the ability to cover the Panels and Bin with the Active image Area.
And the Help isn't! Nowhere can I find any info on how to overcome this. Any ideas clever people?

Set your prefs. Then you can cascade and use the other modes.

PSE 11 Divide Scanned Photos is not active

I scanned a number of photos and when I went into editor>image and the divide scanned photos was not an active choice. It was on the menu but I couldn't select it. I scanned a number of times to include setting the pictures at an angle just to be sure it could be detected. It used to work in PSE 9
I am using an HP office jet Pro 8600 premium.
OS is windows 7

That was absolutely the correct answer. I was in Quick mode. In Expert mode, it works but not as well as in PSE9. I really have to off set the photos to get them picked up separately. I just need to experiment more.

PSE 9 Activation Limit reached

Purchased PSE 9 via ebay. Arrived OK complete package. Installed with no problems, but today it came up with "Activation Limit reached".
Talked to seller and he has deinstalled (but probably not deactivated) the software. Any ideas or help appreciated. Thanks

Again thankyou, I had already sussed that it had been installed on two seperate machines. However the seller is far less aware than I am about how this works. Having said that (and having read the Adobe doc) it also appears that I have no idea either. If there is no easy way to resolve this the seller will be having to refund me anyway. I always thought the IBM AS400 licenses to be overly complicated but Adobe has taken it a new level. Back tp PSE 2 for me I think.
Just to complicate matters, when I first loaded the software I actually registered the software in my name with no problems at all.........

Both computers on which I activated PSE 9 crashed and are totally dead. I need to activate it on my new computer but cannot deactivate the first two activations. How can I activate on my new computer?

Photoshop Elements 7 works fine on Windows 8.1 as I am running the trial version it just wont accept my serial number which is valid
